Although Jesus said:<\/p>\n

43 You have heard that it was said, \u2018You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.\u2019 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. Most take a different view.<\/p>\n

There is a lot of anti-Semitism around the world, and this includes the Dutch capitol of Amsterdam which has long prided itself on its “tolerance.”<\/p>\n

Here are two reports about attacks against Jews that happened there:<\/p>\n

Israeli soccer fans were attacked in Amsterdam<\/h2>\n

November 8, 2024<\/p>\n

Leading political figures in the Netherlands have condemned a night of violence in Amsterdam, after Israeli soccer fans visiting the city were attacked in the streets.<\/p>\n

Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof\u00a0said on social media<\/a>\u00a0he had followed updates over the “antisemitic attacks” on Israeli supporters of the Tel Aviv Maccabi soccer team “with horror,” and said the violence had been “completely unacceptable,” while Israel’s foreign minister, Gideon Saar,\u00a0said on social media<\/a>\u00a0he plans to travel to the Netherlands urgently for an “unplanned visit.”<\/p>\n

Saar\u00a0called the attack<\/a>\u00a0“a blaring alarm call for Europe and the world,” that allowed “unbridled hatred to roam the streets with impunity.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu initially described it as a “very violent incident.”<\/p>\n

Amsterdam\u00a0police said<\/a>\u00a062 people have been arrested following several clashes between the Israeli fans and Amsterdam residents in the city center late into the evening.<\/p>\n

In a news conference Friday, Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema condemned what she called “hit-and-run” attacks on the visiting fans, who had traveled to watch their team take on the Dutch giants Ajax in an annual soccer tournament that involves teams from across Europe.<\/p>\n

Hundreds of Israeli soccer fans were hunted down and viciously assaulted by gangs of anti-Israel thugs shouting \u201cFree Palestine\u201d in Amsterdam overnight \u2013 prompting the Jewish state to send rescue planes to help evacuate its terrified citizens, officials said Friday. …<\/p>\n

Scores of Maccabi Tel Aviv fans were set upon by rioters as they were leaving the stadium following a Europa League game against a Dutch team, AFC Ajax,\u00a0late Thursday in what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decried as a \u201cplanned antisemitic attack.\u201d<\/p>\n

At least 10 Israelis were left injured, including five who had to be hospitalized, the Times of Israel reported, citing officials.\u00a0 …<\/p>\n

Netanyahu directed two rescue planes to be flown to Amsterdam to assist Israeli citizens, his office said early Friday.<\/p>\n

The Israeli National Security Council also urged Israelis to hunker down in their hotel rooms and avoid going out on the street or wearing any visible Jewish or Israeli symbols in the wake of the attack. …<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce again, we are forced to witness that the world has failed to learn from the dark lessons of history as Jewish blood is once again shed with impunity,\u201d Yaakov Hagoel, Chairman of the World Zionist Organization, said in a statement.\u00a0 …<\/p>\n

Ahead of the game,\u00a0video\u00a0showed large crowds of Israeli supporters chanting pro-IDF messages and police pushing several anti-Israel protesters away from a Maccabi fan gathering in a square earlier in the day.<\/p>\n

There is a lot of anti-Semitism around the world, and what just happened was horrible.<\/p>\n

Note that the persecutors were hunting down Jews.<\/p>\n

As far as the starting location shown above, my wife, son David, and I have walked by that square many times. The area seemed safe, but in this age, even “safe” appearing places can be dangerous as many Jews found out last night.<\/p>\n

The Bible teaches<\/p>\n

8 You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord. (Leviticus 19:18)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But there are people who hold hateful grudges.<\/p>\n

Yes, many want Jews gone and some of them also want Christians gone.<\/p>\n

There was a poem many years ago by Martin Niem\u00f6ller:<\/p>\n

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out\u2014
\nBecause I was not a Socialist.<\/i><\/p>\n

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out\u2014<\/i>
\nBecause I was not a Trade Unionist.<\/i><\/p>\n

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out\u2014<\/i>
\nBecause I was not a Jew.<\/i><\/p>\n

Then they came for me\u2014and there was no one left to speak for me.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So, yes, some came for the Jews in Amsterdam.<\/p>\n

It is not just Jews that are hated or will be in the future. Throughout history, true Christians have sometimes been called \u201cJews\u201d and have been subject to persecution supposedly directed towards Jews. True Christians also had to suffer through the so-called Inquisition (see The Spanish Inquisition<\/a><\/span>), which utilized torture against those that had Church of God beliefs\u2013and more is expected in the future (see Persecutions by Church and State<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Protestant<\/a> leaders, including Martin Luther, have also promoted antisemitism and Church of God persecution (see The Similarities and Dissimilarities between Martin Luther and Herbert W. Armstrong<\/a>) as have various ones who were Eastern Orthodox<\/a> (see John Chrysostom, Bishop of Constantinople and Antisemite<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Real Christians have always been on the side of being persecuted and have never been on the side of the persecutors. And this will be true again in the future.<\/p>\n

People should not be antisemitic. People should not hate others.<\/p>\n

It is not just certain Muslims who hate Jews–many who claim Christ still hold anti-Semitic views, and some take direct anti-Semitic actions.<\/p>\n

Sadly, we will see persecution greatly increase before Jesus returns (cf. Daniel 7:25; 11:30-35; see also Persecutions by Church and State<\/a>)\u2013this will affect Philadelphian Christians<\/a>.<\/p>\n

All the faithful will be subject to persecution and being betrayed by professing believers (Matthew 24:9-13, Mark 13:12-13; Luke 21:16-18; Daniel 11:32-35).<\/p>\n

Even though it looks like last night’s attackers were mainly Islamic, the underlying antisemitism in Europe and throughout the world will allow for future persecution, especially when the time comes when the Beast\u2019s government mandates it (Revelation 13:15-17).<\/p>\n

This will happen in Europe according to Revelation 13.<\/p>\n

In the past, Christians were persecuted because they:<\/p>\n
