We must resist this happening here. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/QnvFISYaye\">https:\/\/t.co\/QnvFISYaye<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Philip Murray (@philipmurraylaw) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/philipmurraylaw\/status\/1867135957230829642?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 12, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"sc-518485e5-0 bWszMR\">Canada euthanasia now accounts for nearly one in 20 deaths<\/h2>\n<p>12 December 2024<\/p>\n<div class=\"sc-18fde0d6-0 dlWCEZ\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">The rate of medical assistance in dying &#8211; also known as euthanasia &#8211; has grown in Canada for the fifth straight year, albeit at a slower pace.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">The country released its fifth annual report since legalising assisted dying in 2016, which for the first time included data on the ethnicity of those seeking euthanasia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Around 15,300 people underwent assisted dying last year, accounting for 4.7% of deaths in the country. Canada lawmakers are currently seeking to expand access to euthanasia to cover people with mental illnesses by 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Canada is among a few countries that have introduced assisted dying laws in the past decade. Others include Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Austria.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">The figures released on Wednesday by Health Canada show that the rate of assisted dying in Canada increased by nearly 16% in 2023. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">While the number of assisted deaths in Canada is growing, the country still falls behind the Netherlands, where euthanasia accounted for around 5% of total deaths last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">UK MPs voted late last month to pass a similar bill that gives terminally ill adults in England and Wales the right to have an assisted death, though it will face months of further scrutiny before it could become law. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c0j1z14p57po\">https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c0j1z14p57po<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This is horrible. The rate of death this way keeps rising in Canada. And notice that the rate in the Netherlands is even higher.<\/p>\n<p>What is happening in Canada and other lands that allows euthanasia brought to mind the 1973 science-fiction movie <em>Soylent Green. <\/em>In that film<em>,<\/em> humans ended up in the food supply, as that was considered to be more beneficial for the government than to have people live longer. Although the modern euthanized do not end up in the food supply, it would not surprise me if Canadian government officials believe that by having physically and\/or mentally ill people killed, this will reduce costs for Health Canada.<\/p>\n<p>A reader from Canada sent me a link to the following a couple of years ago:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"entry-title\">KILLING THE HELPLESS: Canada set to legalize euthanasia for mentally ill patients<\/h2>\n<p>November 1, 2022<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>Canada\u2019s euthanasia laws have reached a \u201cnew and more terrifying low,\u201d according to\u00a0<em>Fox News<\/em>\u00a0host\u00a0Tucker Carlson.<\/p>\n<p>He noted during a recent edition of \u201cTucker Carlson Tonight\u201d there had been a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/tucker-carlson-says-canadas-euthanasia-laws-have-reached-a-terrifying-low\/\">very big change in Western civilization<\/a>\u201d as Canada is set to legalize new standards for euthanasia in March 2023, and is set to extend medical assistance in dying (MAiD) to those with mental illness after a temporary exclusion expires.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the passage of the bill, MAiD eligibility was based only on having a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/10\/28\/canada-expanding-assisted-suicide-law-to-the-mentally-ill\/\">grievous and irremediable medical condition.<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, data showed that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/health\/more-than-10-000-canadians-received-a-medically-assisted-death-in-2021-report-1.6025922\">10,064 people in Canada died with medical aid<\/a>, which is a massive 32 percent increase compared to 2020. The report said that 3.3 percent of all deaths in Canada in 2021 were assisted deaths. On a provincial level, British Columbia has the highest rate at 4.8 percent, while Quebec comes second at 4.7 percent.<\/p>\n<p>However, advocates say that it isn\u2019t surprising because Canadians are growing more comfortable with MAiD, although many expect the rising rates to level off soon. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>There are states in the U.S. that already\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/euthanasia.news\/\">approved medical-assisted suicide<\/a>, namely Oregon, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, New Jersey, New Mexico, Vermont, Washington state, and Washington, D.C. Prior to the bill\u2019s passage, MAID eligibility was based on having a \u201cgrievous and irremediable medical condition,\u201d according to a report from the Canadian government on the practice.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Likewise, the Third Reich\u2019s preferred treatment for those with debilitating mental problems was the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/12817666\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">final solution<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The mentally ill aren\u2019t the only problematic people who can be nudged out of existence:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Creighton School of Medicine professor Charles Camosy said Wednesday on \u201cTucker Carlson Tonight\u201d the bill would allow \u201cmature minors\u201d to be euthanized by state doctors without the consent of their parents.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If you would surgically disfigure children on behalf of the LGBT agenda, you probably won\u2019t have moral qualms about killing them outright. <a href=\"https:\/\/moonbattery.com\/canada-moves-to-exterminate-mentally-ill\/\">https:\/\/moonbattery.com\/canada-moves-to-exterminate-mentally-ill\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is terrible. And minors should not be able to decide to do this.<\/p>\n<p>That said, proponents say this type of killing is good and that there are (in their opinions) proper safeguards. In the 18 years since the passing of the law, much has changed. It cannot be done right, because it is morally wrong.<\/p>\n<p>The late American Dr. Jack Kevorkian (nicknamed &#8220;Dr. Death&#8221;) pushed for physician-assisted suicide during his life. And sadly, it has been approved in 8 states in the USA, plus the District of Columbia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/dr-death.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"271\" \/><br \/>\n\u201cDr. Death\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Here is some information about him:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"css-uf6wea-RichTextComponentWrapper e1xue1i82\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"css-83cqas-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi2\">\n<p>3 June 2011<\/p>\n<p><b class=\"css-14iz86j-BoldText e5tfeyi0\">Jack Kevorkian, the controversial American doctor who claimed to have assisted more than 100 suicides, has died aged 83. <\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"css-uf6wea-RichTextComponentWrapper e1xue1i82\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"css-83cqas-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi2\">\n<p>To his critics, he was Dr Death. To other detractors, Jack the Dripper.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"css-uf6wea-RichTextComponentWrapper e1xue1i82\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"css-83cqas-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi2\">\n<p>Kevorkian was given plenty of nicknames after receiving international attention in the 1990s, throughout which he waged a defiant campaign to help people end their lives. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>His career ignited in 1989 when he demonstrated his &#8220;suicide machine&#8221; on television and even had business cards printed advertising his services &#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"css-uf6wea-RichTextComponentWrapper e1xue1i82\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"css-83cqas-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi2\">\n<p>Wesley J Smith, author and leading campaigner against assisted suicide, says the media fawned over him and failed to see the damage he wrought.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"css-uf6wea-RichTextComponentWrapper e1xue1i82\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"css-83cqas-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi2\">\n<p>&#8220;I think his more important place in contemporary history was as a dark mirror that reflected how powerful the avoidance of suffering has become as a driving force in society, and indeed, how that excuse seems to justify nearly any excess.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"css-uf6wea-RichTextComponentWrapper e1xue1i82\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"css-83cqas-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi2\">\n<p>Kevorkian was prophetic in calling for the creation of euthanasia clinics, which now exist in Switzerland, says Smith. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-us-canada-13649381\">https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-us-canada-13649381<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As far as media acceptance, notice something from decades ago:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span class=\"font_text\">The abortion attitude is already being extended to newborn infants. Pro-abortionists themselves are becoming bolder in admitting the connection. Thus Dr. Robert Crist, testifying before the Louisiana state legislature, said that he was just as comfortable killing a newborn child. a week old as a week before birth, and that only lawyers haggle over this point of birth as having any special significance (&#8220;A New Conscience of the Pro-Life Movement,&#8221; Conservative Digest, December, 1979, p. 19). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font_text\">The liberal, pro-abortion New Republic reflects the same attitude. The following words were taken from its July 2; 1977, editorial on abortion. The words accurately reflect the magazine&#8217;s position. They also reflect just where the abortion attitude leads: <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font_text\">&#8220;Metaphysical arguments about the beginning of life are fruitless. But there is clearly no logical or moral distinction between a fetus and a young baby; free availability of abortion cannot be reasonably distinguished from euthanasia. Nevertheless we are for it. It is too facile to say that human life is always sacred; obviously it is not&#8230;&#8221; <\/span><span class=\"font_text\">(Calkins K. The Silent Holocaust. Plain Truth, September 1980)<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The atheistic media is all about its own wants and desires. They do not understand God&#8217;s plan, so they see no value in allowing suffering as they view it. They are among those who believe they &#8220;have no hope&#8221; (1 Thessalonians 4:13). Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths (Isaiah 3:12).<\/p>\n<p><sup>16 <\/sup>For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).<\/p>\n<p>32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:32)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\">Perhaps I should add that the idea of physician-assisted suicide is also a violation of the Hippocratic oath that medical doctors used to take (and it originally prohibited assisting in causing abortion).<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Notice something related to medical ethics and the Hippocratic oath:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h5><span id=\"Code_of_Ethics\" class=\"mw-headline\">Code of Ethics<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>The most current version of the <a title=\"American Medical Association\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/American_Medical_Association\">American Medical Association<\/a>&#8216;s Code of Ethics states that physician-assisted suicide is prohibited. It prohibits physician-assisted suicide because it is &#8220;fundamentally incompatible with the physician\u2019s role as healer&#8221; and because it would be &#8220;difficult or impossible to control, and would pose serious societal risks&#8221;. <sup id=\"cite_ref-18\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Assisted_suicide#cite_note-18\">[18]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<h5><span id=\"Hippocratic_Oath\" class=\"mw-headline\">Hippocratic Oath<\/span><\/h5>\n<p align=\"left\">Some doctors<sup id=\"cite_ref-19\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Assisted_suicide#cite_note-19\">[19]<\/a><\/sup> remind that physician-assisted suicide is contrary to the <a title=\"Hippocratic Oath\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hippocratic_Oath\">Hippocratic Oath<\/a>, which is the oath historically taken by physicians. It states &#8220;I will give no deadly medicine to anyone if asked, nor suggest any such counsel&#8221;.<sup id=\"cite_ref-mit.edu_20-0\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Assisted_suicide#cite_note-mit.edu-20\">[20]<\/a><\/sup><sup id=\"cite_ref-21\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Assisted_suicide#cite_note-21\">[21]<\/a><\/sup> The original oath however has been modified many times and, contrary to popular belief, is not required by most modern medical schools, nor confers any legal obligations on individuals who choose to take it.<sup id=\"cite_ref-22\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Assisted_suicide#cite_note-22\">[22]<\/a><\/sup> There are also procedures forbidden by the Hippocratic Oath which are in common practice today, such as abortion. (Assisted Suicide. Wikipedia, accessed 10\/30\/20)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\">Yes, both euthanasia and abortion are prohibited by the Hippocratic Oath. Physicians are not supposed to be involved with murder, but assisting healing.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The Bible teaches that one is not to murder (Exodus 20:13). And that includes murdering oneself, as well as one&#8217;s unborn baby. Notice also the following:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>Is suicide a crime? &#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">God commands: \u201cTHOU SHALT NOT KILL\u201d (the sixth commandment). Webster defines the word kill as \u201cto deprive of life.\u201d To commit suicide, then, is breaking one of the Ten Commandments -and is definitely condemned by God. Paul admonishes us saying, \u201cKnow you not that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?<\/p>\n<p>If any man DESTROY (KJV margin) the temple of God, him shall God DESTROY; for the temple of God is holy, which temple you are\u201d (1 Cor. 3 : 16, 17 ) . \u201cWhat, know you not that your BODY is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own?\u201d (I Cor. 6: 19). No murderer-or suicide-has eternal life abiding in him (I John 3: 15). He has no hope unless and until in the general resurrection after the millennium he repents of his sin (Matthew 11 :20-24). January 1960, pp. 15-16)<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font_text\">What about mercy killings (euthanasia), capital punishment, killing in self-defense, taking revenge, &#8220;just&#8221; wars, abortions (killing of unborn infants) and suicide? God, the giver of life (Gen. 2:7, Deut. 32:39), has the right to take any life if and when He chooses. But man does not have that power, unless God grants it to him. (McNair R. Could You Be Guilty of Murder? Good News, January 1983)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font_text\">Subtle forms of murder include abortion, euthanas<\/span>ia &#8230; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/crime-can-be-stopped-heres-how.htm\">Crime can be stopped&#8230;here&#8217;s how!<\/a> Ambassador College, 1975)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\">Both abortion and euthanasia are wrong.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Let me add that refusing extreme medical interventions is NOT wrong. But having someone poison someone else, which is what euthanasia via a physician pretty much always is, is wrong.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The Bible teaches:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\">1 Cry aloud, spare not;<br \/>\nLift up your voice like a trumpet;<br \/>\nTell My people their transgression,<br \/>\nAnd the house of Jacob their sins.
