\u2022 On the ground:\u00a0<\/strong>Protesters and police faced off in Los Angeles for a fourth day Monday, with officers using flash bangs and rubber bullets<\/a> to disperse protesters after objects were thrown at them. At one point, police escorted a CNN crew out<\/a> of a protest zone. Anti-ICE protests have occurred across the country<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

\u2022 More troops: <\/strong>About 700 Marines<\/a> have been activated to help protect federal personnel and property. And President Donald Trump is mobilizing another 2,000 National Guard members<\/a>, doubling his initial deployment of those troops.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Divisive deployments: <\/strong>Border czar Tom Homan told CNN<\/a> the Marine deployment was needed to quell protests. But California Gov. Gavin Newsom and LA Mayor Karen Bass have slammed the federal deployments. Bass said the city is being \u201cused for an experiment\u201d<\/a> in federal authority.\u00a0 …<\/p>\n

While some buildings have been vandalized, and there is graffiti in downtown, much of Los Angeles has not been affected by the protests, she said.<\/p>\n

But she noted that what set this protest apart from others is the level of vandalism.<\/p>\n
