There has been another “no kings” protest. The co-founder on the news yesterday claimed it would be larger than the previous protest in June and that it would be entirely peaceful.<\/p>\n

WRAL News was live on the scene at the Apex protest that started at 9 a.m. People lined the streets while cars passed by and honked at them.<\/p>\n

The North Carolina GOP responded to today’s ‘No Kings’ protests, saying:<\/p>\n

“Far-left radical Democrats shut down the federal government to brag at these events they shut down the government to stop President Trump. Democrats must stop holding the government hostage at the expense of military service members, low-income families, and federal law enforcement.” …<\/p>\n

At the national level, GOP leaders call the protests<\/a> and rallygoers themselves “communists” and “Marxists.” They say Democratic leaders\u00a0are beholden to the far-left flank and willing to keep the government shut down to appease those liberal forces.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encourage you to watch \u2014 we call it the Hate America rally \u2014 that will happen Saturday,\u201d said House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s see who shows up for that,” Johnson said, listing groups including \u201cantifa types,\u201d people who \u201chate capitalism\u201d and \u201cMarxists in full display.\u201d<\/p>\n

“UAW Labor for Palestine” and “NYC Labor for Palestine” quietly posted a call-to-action for the “Palestine Labor Solidarity Contingent” to meet Saturday at 11 a.m. at Duarte Square between Grand Street and Canal Street in lower Manhattan and then flow into the #NoKings protests planned to protest President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re not alone. This is the third mass mobilization<\/a><\/span> since Trump\u2019s return to the White House and it is expected to be the largest. It comes against the backdrop of a government shutdown<\/a><\/span> that not only has closed federal programs and services,<\/a><\/span> but is testing the core balance of power as an aggressive executive confronts Congress and the courts<\/a><\/span> in ways that organizers warn are a slide toward American authoritarianism.<\/p>\n

Trump himself is away from Washington at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida.<\/p>\n
