It never claimed to be Mary, and indeed it was not.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, let me add that the statue in Brazil does not even resemble how the children described &#8216;the Lady.&#8217; Here is information, based on their testimony and reports to two Roman Catholic priests, as quoted in my free eBook <span class=\"style17\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/fatimashock.pdf\"><em>Fatima Shock!<\/em> What the Vatican Does Not Want You to Know About Fatima, Dogmas of Mary, and Future Apparitions<\/a><\/span>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Here is some of what L\u00facia herself wrote about what\u00a0they saw on May 13, 1917:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u2026we beheld a Lady all dressed in white\u2026She\u2026 radiated a light\u2026We stopped, astounded before the Apparition.22<\/p>\n<p>She also wrote that it sometimes held a ball (not a heart)\u00a0in her hands.23<\/p>\n<p>Here is some of what the Parish Priest of Fatima, Manuel\u00a0Marques Ferreira, wrote in 1917 that the children reported\u00a0about the apparition:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The clothing was a white mantle, which fell from the head to below the skirt, which was golden from the waist to below the strings&#8230;The skirt was all white and gold\u2026 [and] fell only to the knees; the coat was white\u2026no shoes, but white socks with no gold; about the neck there was a gold chain with a pointed medallion.24<\/p>\n<p>This skirt information came as a shock to me as I was unaware of it prior to late 2010. Later I learned that in the late 19th \u00a0century, some wealthy people wore \u201cDiana\u201d costumes which featured a \u201cshort skirt\u201d (Diana is often historically featured that way 25) along with a covering white tunic with gold spots.26 This seemed remarkably similar to what the children claim to have seen in the early 20th century. A poem from the third century said Diana wore \u201chalf-boots. Her cloak is woven with gold thread,\u201d while at least two mosaics from that period show her wearing a \u201cshort chiton\u201d (a short tunic\/skirt), and one has a cloak that goes over her head while a tapestry shows \u201cthat the ends of her cloak flutter on either side of her.\u201d27<\/p>\n<p>One reason the Fatima skirt report is not well known is that Priest Ferreira\u2019s report and similar documents were not widely released until 1992, 75 years later. In 1917 Portugal, not even \u201cladies of the night\u201d wore such skirts as they would have been considered to be scandalously provocative.28<\/p>\n<p>Portuguese researchers Dr. Joaquim Fernandes (Professor of History at the University of Fernando Pessoa in Porto, Portugal) and Fina D\u2019Armada speculated that the reason that the \u201cskirt\u201d information was not released until\u00a01992 (some claim there was also an earlier release) was that because by then much of the world would not find such descriptions of female apparel scandalous, 29 yet nearly all of the pictures or statues allegedly of Mary of the Bible rarely show her wearing anything shorter than a dress down to the top of her feet. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>In 1917, the Catholic priest and investigator Canon Manuel Nunes Formig\u00e3o interviewed the three Fatima children.53\u00a0 \u00a0Here is some of what he wrote:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Jacinta confirms that Our Lady\u2019s dress fell only to the knees\u2026 Our Lady obviously could not have appeared other than dressed with the utmost decency and modesty\u2026{This} constitutes a\u00a0serious problem, opposing the very validity of the Apparition, giving rise in the spirit to the dread that this whole affair is a mystification, prepared by the Prince of Darkness.54<\/p>\n<p>And that is true, yet Canon Formig\u00e3o essentially decided that since some Catholics claimed to have felt better (physically or spiritually) because of Fatima, he dismissed the eye witness testimony that he had received.55 \u00a0Yet, Mary would not have been dressed as culturally immodest as the apparition was described (cf. 1 Timothy 2:9-10). Whatever the children saw, we can be certain that it was not Jesus\u2019 mother.<\/p>\n<p>Certain priests have written:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">As Saint Thomas {Aquinas} teaches, there is no argument against a fact\u2014<em>contra factum non argumentum est<\/em>. If a statement is contrary to fact, then no authority on earth can expect us to believe it.56<\/p>\n<p>To accept that the Lady who appeared at Fatima could possibly be Mary is an argument against biblical fact as \u201cwomen are to wear suitable clothes and to be dressed quietly and modestly\u201d (1 Timothy 2:9, NJB).\u00a0 \u00a0Moreover, the fact is that Mary would not have appeared that way in 1917. The testimony from the only three who saw the Lady\u00a0confirms that this was not Mary.<\/p>\n<p>Because \u00a0of \u00a0the \u00a0release \u00a0of \u00a0the \u00a0documents \u00a0of \u00a0Priest\u00a0Ferreira and Canon Formig\u00e3o about the Lady\u2019s apparel,\u00a0Joaquim Fernandes and Fina D\u2019Armada wrote related to the short skirt:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">It could be said that this description of the Being, finally revealed in 1992, is the real secret of Fatima.57<\/p>\n<p>If more people knew the truth about this they may have viewed Fatima as something not from God.<\/p>\n<p>Partially to test this hypothesis, on October 11, 2010, I asked a Catholic woman who had once been to Fatima on a religious pilgrimage, if the three children saw an apparition that was wearing a skirt shorter than even harlots in 1917\u00a0Portugal wore, if she thought that this could possibly be\u00a0Mary, the Mother of Jesus.<\/p>\n<p>She responded with, \u201cNo, I would think that it was the devil.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So, I explained to her that in mid 1917 both her parish priest and L\u00facia thought that the Lady of Fatima was probably the devil. She was shocked to learn this. She was also shocked to learn that Canon Formig\u00e3o still supported Fatima after confirming with Jacinta (and another of the children) that the apparition wore a short skirt.<\/p>\n<p>It has been speculated that because Jacinta told Canon Formig\u00e3o \u00a0that\u00a0 the\u00a0 Lady \u00a0mentioned \u00a0him \u00a0by\u00a0 name, \u00a0this may be part of why he was willing to overlook the skirt fact.58\u00a0 &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The Bible warns of a \u201cvirgin\u201d that uses enchantments\u00a0who is also called the Lady of Kingdoms:<\/p>\n<p>1 Come down, sit in the dust, <strong>O virgin daughter of Babylon<\/strong>, sit on the ground: there is no throne for the daughter of the Chaldeans, for thou shalt no more be called delicate and tender\u20264 Our redeemer, the Lord of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel. 5 Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for <strong>thou shalt no more be called the lady of kingdoms<\/strong>. &#8230; Isaiah 47 &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Notice also something else about the sorcery Queen\/Lady:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">2 Remove your veil, <strong>tie up your skirt<\/strong>, bare your legs, cross the rivers. Let your nakedness be displayed and your shame exposed. <strong>I am going to take vengeance <\/strong>and no one will stand in my way. (Isaiah 47:2-3 NJB)<\/p>\n<p>This skirted \u201cLady of Kingdoms\u201d is clearly something\u00a0Mary of the Bible would not want to be.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div>\n<p>Some may be surprised to see this, but this immoral \u201cLady\u201d also seems to have the title of \u201cqueen\u201d and \u201charlot\u201d:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<blockquote><p>7 And you said, &#8216;<strong>I shall be a lady forever<\/strong>,&#8217;<br \/>\nSo that you did not take these things to heart,<br \/>\nNor remember the latter end of them.<\/p>\n<p>8 &#8220;Therefore hear this now, you who are given to pleasures,<br \/>\nWho dwell securely,<br \/>\nWho say in your heart, &#8216;I am, and there is no one else besides me;<br \/>\nI shall not sit as a widow,<br \/>\nNor shall I know the loss of children&#8217;;<br \/>\n9 But these two things shall come to you<br \/>\nIn a moment, in one day:<br \/>\nThe loss of children, and widowhood.<br \/>\nThey shall come upon you in their fullness<br \/>\nBecause of the multitude of your sorceries,<br \/>\nFor the great abundance of your enchantments.<\/p>\n<p>10 &#8220;For you have trusted in your wickedness;<br \/>\nYou have said, &#8216;No one sees me&#8217;;<br \/>\nYour wisdom and your knowledge have warped you;<br \/>\nAnd you have said in your heart,<br \/>\n&#8216;I am, and there is no one else besides me.&#8217;<br \/>\n11 Therefore evil shall come upon you;<br \/>\nYou shall not know from where it arises.<br \/>\nAnd trouble shall fall upon you;<br \/>\nYou will not be able to put it off.<br \/>\nAnd desolation shall come upon you suddenly,<br \/>\nWhich you shall not know.\u00a0 (Isaiah 47:7-11)<\/p>\n<p>7\u00a0<strong>You thought, \u2018I shall be a queen forever.\u2019\u00a0<\/strong>8 I am the only one who matters.\u00a0<strong>I shall never be widowed, never know bereavement<\/strong>.\u2019 9 Yet both these things will befall you, suddenly, in one day. Bereavement and widowhood will suddenly befall you (Isaiah 47:7, 8b, 9 NJB)<\/p>\n<p>4 Because of the multitude of harlotries of the seductive harlot, The mistress of sorceries, Who sells nations through her harlotries, And families through her sorceries. (Nahum 3:4, NKJV)<\/p>\n<p>5 Look, I am against you!- declares Yahweh Sabaoth- I shall lift your skirts as high as your face and show your nakedness to the nations, your shame to the kingdoms. (Nahum 3:5, NJB)<\/p>\n<p>3 All the nations have drunk deep of the wine of her prostitution; every king on the earth has prostituted himself with her, and every merchant grown rich through her debauchery. (Revelation 18:3, NJB)<\/p>\n<p>17:1 Come, I will shew thee the condemnation of the great harlot, who sitteth upon many waters &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>18:7 As much as she hath glorified herself, and lived in delicacies, so much torment and sorrow give ye to her; because she saith in her heart:\u00a0<strong>I sit a queen, and am no widow; and sorrow I shall not see.\u00a0<\/strong>8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine, and she shall be burnt with the fire; because God is strong, who shall judge her. (Revelation 17:1b, 18:7-8, DRB)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>So, understand that what will happen to the queen\/Lady of the Kingdoms as well as to Babylon is warned against in Revelation. Yet, various Greco-Roman Catholics have claimed that Mary is the &#8220;Queen of heaven&#8221; and &#8220;Lady of the kingdoms.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Now, see the following from Roman Catholic Msgr. Charles Pope:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Yes, the Church is a bride, not a widow.<br \/>\n(September 17, 2019\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.adw.org\/2019\/09\/church-bride-not-widow\/\">http:\/\/blog.adw.org\/2019\/09\/church-bride-not-widow\/<\/a>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So, Roman Catholics believe their church will not be a widow. Sounds like the statements in Isaiah 47 and Revelation 18.<\/p>\n<p>Neither the Bible nor the apostles referred to Mary as any type of queen, nor as the &#8220;Lady of the kingdoms.&#8221; Sacred scripture clearly warns against doing anything, such as making cakes, to honor one known as \u201cthe queen of heaven\u201d (Jeremiah 7:18-19; 44:17-25) and certainly condemns one called the &#8220;Lady of the kingdoms.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Over a decade ago, my wife and I visited Fatima, Portugal. The image to the left below, is what is seen there. It resembles the 177 foot statue that was dedicated by the Church of Rome in Brazil earlier this month. But notice the image to the right. That was made by a graphic artist I hired. I gave him the only descriptions of &#8216;the Lady&#8217; that came from the three children, and that is how he interpreted it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/FatimaLady.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"322\" height=\"256\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Fatima Chapel Statue and What the Fatima Children Said They Saw<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Since we in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ccog.org\"><em>Continuing<\/em> Church of God<\/a> do not believe that Mary, the mother of Jesus, appeared in Fatima, Portugal in 1917, why pay attention to this?<\/p>\n<p>There are several reasons. Notice five:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>1) Some of the events claimed to have been predicted in 1917 (though not written down until years later) appear to have taken place. This has given the Fatima messages credibility even among those not part of the Roman Catholic faith. Various Roman Catholics believe more strongly in Fatima than the Bible.<\/p>\n<p>2) The Fatima appearances, though not necessarily all the messages, have been accepted as legitimate and\/or &#8220;worthy of belief&#8221; by the Vatican. As there are at least 1-2 billion people with at least some minimal ties with the Church of Rome, this means that a huge portion of the West (Europe and the Western Hemisphere), as well as people throughout the rest of the world, have reasons to pay attention to the Fatima messages.<\/p>\n<p>3) Some of the Fatima messages are claimed to still be for the future. And whether people believe them or not, there will be repercussions from them. Some of those repercussions will likely shock the world. If you survive, you will likely be affected by these repercussions in the not too distant future. This is mainly because of warnings in the Bible about a woman (Isaiah 47) that seems to have had a lot in common with the apparition that supposedly appeared over a century ago.<\/p>\n<p>4) Muhammad, founder of Islam, claimed that there were 4 perfect women. His first wife, Pharaoh&#8217;s daughter who pulled Moses from the water, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Muhammad&#8217;s daughter Fatima. Many Muslims believe that it was Muhammad&#8217;s daughter that appeared in 1917.<\/p>\n<p>5) Roman Catholics want to use &#8216;Mary&#8217; as part of their interfaith and ecumenical agenda, including for Muslims.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The name Fatima is popular among Roman Catholics as well as Muslims. As it turns out, the latest &#8216;Miss Universe&#8217; is a Mexican woman named Fatima:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>21 November 2025<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Miss Mexico Fatima Bosch has been crowned Miss Universe at a ceremony in Bangkok, marking the end of an exceptionally scandal-filled pageant season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">The 25-year-old contestant had walked out of an event earlier in November after a Thai official publicly berated her in front of dozens of contestants and threatened to disqualify those who supported her.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">That dramatic turn was followed a week later by the resignation of two judges, one of whom accused organisers of rigging the competition. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/cgmxmxljg8mo\">https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/cgmxmxljg8mo<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That said, I believe that the popularity of the Fatima apparition stories, and the use of the name Fatima, will help support the coming deception that is prophesied to come to the earth not too many years from now.<\/p>\n<p>The Bible warns that signs and lying wonders will deceive those that do not have the love of the truth (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12). And prophecies in both the Old and New Testaments suggest that a &#8220;Lady&#8221; who is considered a virgin will be involved in deceit.<\/p>\n<p>Fatima has been a concern for a long time. Notice something that the late Church of God evangelist Raymond McNair wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In the German <em>S\u00fcddeutsche Zeitung<\/em> there was an article in which it was revealed that Pope Paul VI had received a message in Fatima through the only remaining shepherd girl (who is now a nun). They were seen quite some time together and it appeared as if she had something to say to him. When asked in Rome, after his return, if his visit to Fatima was a success, Pope Paul said: &#8221; I went to Fatima to pray for peace to the Virgin Mary and I received the answer how to, achieve this peace.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>There are many rumors that he did receive a message, but he has not wanted to divulge it.<\/p>\n<p>Since the pilgrimage to Fatima, the Pope has spoken out on Jerusalem- demanding it become an international city. What most do not know is that there is evidence the Vatican has plans to move from Rome to Jerusalem &#8230; This event will stir the world! It will be the Pope &#8216;s final effort as the world&#8217;s peacemaker! (McNair R. The Real Meaning Behind POPE PAUL&#8217;S PILGRIMAGE TO PORTUGAL. Plain Truth, June 1967, pp. 3, 47)<\/p>\n<p>Jerusalem will become increasingly important to Catholics in the near future. The Papacy will, as previously reported in The PLAIN TRUTH, be moved from Rome to Jerusalem &#8230; Bible prophecy is very explicit on this point. Furthermore, according to a recent report in a leading German newspaper, the Third Fatima Message is reported (by inside, informed Vatican sources) to reveal that there will be a terrible World War III, during which (according to this Fatima Vision) both Rome and the Vatican will be destroyed! Could this possibly explain why the Vatican will be moved to Jerusalem? (McNair R. POPE MEETS PATRIARCH. Plain Truth, October 1967)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Like me, Raymond McNair (and the old Radio Church of God, who published the above) was aware that Roman Catholic actions can be influenced by Marian apparitions and Greco-Roman Catholic private prophecies. Fatima is more important to the Church of Rome than most non-Catholics realize.<\/p>\n<p>Notice the following warning from a Greek Orthodox Catholic writer that\u00a0false apparitions claiming to be Mary will lead to people to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cogwriter.com\/Documents\/antichrist.htm\">Antichrist<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Mother goddesses&#8221; known in the ancient world were not just confined to the Near East and Mediterranean but are universal. The Kogi Indians, among whom we lived in Columbia, worship a spirit called Nabuba, the &#8220;Ancient Mother.&#8221; When Roman Catholics missionaries attempted to evangelize the Kogi in the last century, they used a not-uncommon strategy for drawing pagan peoples into Rome&#8217;s fold: rather than explaining the differences between the pagan mysthology and Christian truth, they found &#8220;equivalences,&#8221; Christ, under this syncretistic view, corresponds to the Kogi Sejukukui (a trickster god who faked his own death by hiding in a cave), while Nabuba is said to be the Virgin Mary. This confusion has led the Kogis to call their pagan temples &#8220;cansamaria,&#8221; a corruption of &#8220;casa de Maria&#8221; (house of Mary).<\/p>\n<p>Given these Roman Catholic &#8220;evangelistic methods&#8221; of more than a century ago, it is it any wonder that contemporary &#8220;apparitions&#8221; of Mary are invariably accompanied by ecumenistic messages promoting the idea that all religions are equally valid and Orthodox Christianity is but one &#8220;path&#8221; among many? A recent issue of <em>Orthodox Tradition<\/em> (1966) contains the account of Matushka (wife of a Russian Orthodox priest) Katherine Swanson&#8217;s trip to Medjugorje, Croatia, to investigate the most famous of the recent cases of apparitions of Mary in the Roman Catholic world. In it she recounts a telling episode:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Our guide took our group for an audience with the &#8220;seers.&#8221; During this audience, a pilgrim asked one of the children the following questions: &#8220;Does the Virgin say that the Catholic Church is the true church?&#8221; The response given by the child provides clear evidence of the ecumenical content and religious relativism which, oddly enough, increasingly mark the &#8220;revelations&#8221; at Medjugorje: &#8220;Our Blessed Mother says that <em>all religions are equally pleasing to God.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The <em>Life <\/em>magazine article, then, is yet another contribution to this line of thought. Given the idea that all paths are equally valid, then all &#8220;Marys&#8221; are equally valid, too. The author describes several of the Marys of our times: Miearculous Mary (such as at Medjugorje), Mediator Mary (Who, as the author quotes Fr. Andrew Greeley saying, lets people into Heaven through the &#8220;back door&#8221;), <em>(Editors notes: the Orthodox Church of course never taught about the &#8220;back door&#8221;, and of course one only prays that this is a matter of a figure of speech, but let us not dwell on the &#8220;back door&#8221;, but the gates of Paradise, the Kingdom of our God<\/em>). Mediator Mary of the feminists, and Mother Mary. This last one, Mother Mary, is the role which the author considers the most appealing to non-Catholics: &#8220;The emotional need for her is so irresistible to a troubled world that people without an obvious link to the Virgin are being drawn to her. It is known that Muslins revere Mary as a pure and holy saint&#8230;Interdenominational Marian prayer groups are springing up throughout the world. Many Protestants, even some who still reject notions of a supernatural Virgin, miss Mary.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To which Mary are Muslims and Protestants being drawn? The Protestant Reformation rejected the distorted view of Mary which had developed in the West since the Schism of 1054, and which would ultimately result in the Roman Church&#8217;s proclamation of their dogma of the Immaculate Conception. But Protestantism did not just reject the Western view of Mary; it ignored Her altogether, in effect denying Her role in the Incarnation and, consequently, the part She plays in our salvation. As Rome began to see her more and more as a &#8220;goddess,&#8221; a fourth Hypostasis of the Trinity, as it were, the Protestants reacted by down playing Her position and refusing to honor Her at all, this in spite of the Gospel words:<em>&#8220;All Generations Shall Call Me Blessed.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Today, as heterodox Christians become more and more ecumenist and work toward creating a &#8220;One World Church,&#8221; the search has begun for a Mary of universal recognition, one who will appeal not only to those who bear the name Christian, but apparently to Muslims and others as well, just as attempts are likewise being made to identify the &#8220;new Christ&#8221; with the Muslim concept of their coming Mahdi and with the Messiah still awaited by the Jews. <strong>This, of course, will be no Christ at all but the antichrist<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>(Jackson P.
