This exemption, which is limited in scope, has served for many years as a vital safeguard to ensure that Canadians are not prosecuted for the sincere and truthful expression of their beliefs, made without animosity and rooted in long-standing religious traditions.” …\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n According to the same website, Bill C-9 has been heavily criticized by constitutional experts because it gives law enforcement and the government the power to take action against those who, in their opinion, have hurt a person’s “feelings” in an “odious” way.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The Bloc’s proposed amendment seeks to further restrict freedom of expression, as it would eliminate the so-called “religious exemption” defense, which has protected individuals from convictions for deliberate hate speech when statements are made “in good faith” and based on a “religious theme” or a “sincerely held” interpretation of religious texts.<\/span><\/p>\n Consequently, citing the Bible, the Quran, or the Torah to condemn abortion, homosexuality, or LGBT propaganda could be considered criminal activity. …<\/span><\/p>\n In October, Liberal MP Marc Miller said that some passages in the Bible were \u201chateful\u201d for what they said about homosexuality and that those who recited them should be jailed.<\/span><\/p>\n “There are clearly instances in these texts where these statements are hateful,” Miller said. “They should not be used as an invocation or defense,” he added, immediately sparking a wave of protests from conservatives across Canada.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Others have also reported about this:<\/p>\n December 7, 2025<\/p>\n Winnipeg Sun columnists Royce Koop and Lawrence Pinsky, KC, …<\/p>\n Bill C-9 and new Liberal\u2013Bloc amendments. Pinsky explained that Minister Mark Miller has openly suggested that teaching or reading certain Old Testament passages could be prosecuted as hate, despite existing protections for religious belief in Canada\u2019s Criminal Code. Koop warned that this is exactly the kind of overreach Canadians thought the Charter would prevent, but courts have repeatedly allowed \u201creasonable limits\u201d on expression.<\/p>\n Pinsky tied it to a wider Western trend, citing UK cases where Christians have lost jobs or faced police attention over social media posts and faith-based views, and argued that Canada is marching down the same path. \u201cGovernment should be getting out of people\u2019s lives,\u201d he said. \u201cInstead, Carney\u2019s Liberals are trying to police what Canadians think and say.\u201d<\/p>\n Klein blasted Ottawa for \u201cplaying thought police\u201d while food prices soar and families struggle to pay the bills, calling it pure social engineering and a distraction from economic failure. https:\/\/winnipegsun.com\/opinion\/inside-politics-this-is-not-a-joke-reading-the-bible-could-become-hate-speech-in-canada<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Quoting the Bible in public has been an issue in Canada for some time and it is implied that various ones do not want people to read or believe it.<\/p>\n Sadly, Canada does not accept the Bible and has long been pushing restrictions. Since a court decision in 2002, Canada has restricted freedom to quote and cite the Bible (watch Canadian censoring of the Bible<\/a>). It also passed a motion limiting giving one’s view of Islam (http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2017-03-24\/canada-passes-blasphemy-bill-silence-critics-islam<\/a>).<\/p>\n Local Canadian officials have prohibited a Protestant school from being able to teach certain scriptures from the Bible. Here is an account of this from Canada:<\/p>\n Our Constitution has religion hard-wired into it \u2014 the word Catholic is in our Constitution four times, specifically to protect religious education. That\u2019s part of the grand bargain of Canada, uniting French Canada and English Canada.<\/p>\n It\u2019s shocking, but it\u2019s not surprising. Christianity has been driven out of the public square everywhere in Canada. But surely this is a new low \u2014 Christianity is actually being banned in a Christian school.<\/strong><\/p>\n Government bureaucrats would never dream of telling Muslim schools they couldn\u2019t teach passages from the Koran \u2014 even ones that call for the murder of infidels and apostates. But banning the Bible is now official school board policy.<\/p>\n And, not surprisingly, the media and the political class are silent. Even supposedly Christian or conservative politicians are keeping their heads down \u2014 they don\u2019t want to be attacked by the leftist mob at the CBC.<\/p>\n The school board is digging in. They\u2019re closing ranks around Laurie Skori the chair. They\u2019re bullying the school. David Eggen, the NDP education minister, he hates Christian schools, wants to shut them down, has taken steps to shut others down. He\u2019s an anti-Christian bigot who doesn\u2019t seem upset about this censorship in the slightest. 06\/19\/17 https:\/\/news.google.com\/news\/section?hl=en&ned=us&q=%22Battle+River+School+board%22<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Notice also;<\/p>\n September 28, 2018<\/p>\n Alberta\u2019s NDP government has made the next move against religious schools in the province\u2014and this time, they\u2019ve dropped any pretence that their ongoing attacks on religious schools are anything short of crass bigotry. At the end of August, Education Minister David Eggen announced<\/a>\u00a0that funding would be pulled from Christian schools that refused to accept Gay-Straight Alliance Clubs.\u00a0 \u2026<\/p>\n The NDP attacks on schools began as a radical progressive government forcing LGBT ideology into communities that did not want it, and have now metastasized into a blunt declaration by the government that schools cannot govern themselves according to their Christian beliefs. \u201cDiversity\u201d must be respected, by which the NDP means that a diverse array of religious schools must accept progressive ideology and accede to their demands or face further attacks from the government. This is no longer simply about Gay Straight Alliance clubs\u2014the NDP is telling Christian schools that they cannot teach Christian doctrine, cannot state their belief that the Bible is God\u2019s Word, cannot respect the primary role of parents in the education process, and cannot state that the biblical worldview is true.<\/p>\n And, most tellingly, the NDP had a problem with one school noting that God\u2019s authority superseded man\u2019s authority\u2014because\u00a0they do not believe that to be true<\/em>. I do not believe that this means that there will be no more Bibles–but that those wanting to better understand it will have trouble finding explanations.<\/p>\n Amos is referring to something as dramatic as truth being scarce. In the 21st century that logically would point to it being taken off the internet. In the 21st century, the internet is accessed by people in every country, and thus some type of internet restriction\/suspension\/site removal is coming–more than what we have seen thus far.<\/p>\n We are getting closer to this time.
