Finally, the penny seemed to have dropped. The US is no longer the friend and trusted ally it once was.<\/p>\n

For some, this realization has been a long time coming, given warning signs from the first days of this latest Trump administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe transatlantic relations have definitely taken a big blow over the last week,\u201d EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said Thursday.<\/p>\n

For former EU Council chief Charles Michel, it\u2019s even starker: the transatlantic relationship \u201cas we\u2019ve known it for decades is dead,\u201d he told CNN.\u00a0…<\/p>\n

Faced with Trump\u2019s ambitions, the choice for Europe was stark: defiance or subservience.<\/p>\n

\u201cAppeasement\u202fmeans no results, only humiliation,\u201d Poland\u2019s Tusk said this week, while Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever in Davos spoke of preferring being a \u201chappy vassal\u201d to a \u201cmiserable slave\u201d of the US.<\/p>\n

Discussions with EU diplomats highlighted how Europeans have finally coalesced around a need for independence from the whims of the White House, especially on matters of defense. …<\/p>\n

Macron slammed America\u2019s trigger-happy tariffs at Davos. And in another unambiguous swipe at Trump: \u201cWe do prefer respect to bullies.\u201d …<\/p>\n

Donald Trump\u2019s foreign policy statements have unsettled many\u2014in the USA as well as foreign nations. He is believed by many to be more unpredictable than Richard Nixon. Many have rightly pointed out that he often acts as a bully.<\/p>\n

The USA will be attacked by \u201cfriends\u201d consistent with the following:<\/p>\n

\nThat was full of people!<\/p>\n

How like a widow is she,
\nWho was great among the nations!<\/p>\n

The princess among the provinces\u00a0Has become a slave!<\/p>\n

\nHer tears are on her cheeks;
\nAmong all her lovers
\nShe has none to comfort her.<\/p>\n

All her friends have dealt treacherously with her;
\nThey have become her enemies. cf. Lamentations 1:1-2).<\/p>\n

Notice the one who was \u201cgreat among the nations\u201d will be conquered by friends, who will become enemies.<\/p>\n

The USA was prophesied to be \u201cgreat\u201d in Genesis 48:19 and is considered by international sources to be great among the nations of the world today.<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Yes, the Bible teaches about a great power who will be destroyed by its friends, who become enemies (Lamentations 1:1-2). Donald Trump offending the Europeans is leading to that.<\/p>\n

Selling US debt, Europe\u2019s difficult weapon against Trump<\/h2>\n

Investors have indeed begun to reduce their exposure to the US on their own initiative<\/p>\n

On Tuesday at the Davos forum, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent ridiculed the idea that Europe might retaliate against Donald Trump\u2019s\u00a0expansionist ambitions in Greenland<\/a>\u00a0by selling U.S. sovereign bonds. He said the notion \u201cdefies any logic,\u201d although the market seems to have taken note of the possibility, triggering a selling wave that exposes the vulnerabilities of the world\u2019s largest economy: its high debt and the imbalance of its public accounts.<\/p>\n

Tension has already appeared in U.S. sovereign debt, …<\/p>\n

European investors hold substantial U.S. debt: the United Kingdom $800 billion; Belgium $399 billion; Luxembourg $328 billion; Switzerland $243 billion; and Norway $218 billion. A halt in European purchases of U.S. sovereign bonds would be unthinkable and could trigger a global financial collapse. U.S. Treasury bonds are the global benchmark in capital markets, where governments and corporations issue debt in dollars, and the greenback is the currency in which over half of world trade is conducted, including gold and oil payments. Yet Trump\u2019s policies are accelerating investors\u2019 disinterest in the dollar and U.S. sovereign bonds, following straightforward financial logic rather than any political retaliation.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury approached 4.3%, the highest since August, while the 30-year yield neared 5%, a level that could trigger stock market corrections and alarms among bond watchers. \u201cAt 5%, U.S. tech valuations are unsustainable,\u201d warns Roberto Scholtes, strategist at Singular Bank. …<\/p>\n

Whether motivated by retaliation or financial prudence, analysts agree that a rapid sell-off of U.S. sovereign debt by the EU is unlikely, even though U.S. assets are already losing some appeal in the market. \u201cEurope holds $3.6 trillion in U.S. Treasury bonds, representing just under 40% of all U.S. public debt in foreign hands. The reality is that Europeans are not ready to liquidate all US bonds, but are getting concerned.<\/p>\n

In the future, European creditors will rise up against the US consistent with the following prophecy:<\/p>\n

6 \u201cWill not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, \u2018Woe to him who increases What is not his \u2014 how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges\u2019?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The USA is the most indebted nation of all time.<\/p>\n
