Satan's Fate
These are mainly notes from the late deacon Richard Close. Here is a link to the sermon: Destiny of Satan.
1st Thessalonians 5:21 PROVE ALL THINGS: hold fast that which is good
Let's look at some scriptures that were previously used to show that Spirits--IE Satan and demons can not die.
Here is some background with a trick question the Sadducees thought would trip up Jesus Christ
Lu 20:27 ¶ Then came to him certain of the Sadducee's, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,
Notice that the Sadducee's deny that there is ANY resurrection yet they are asking Christ a question about the resurrection.
Lu 20:28 Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
29 There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.
30 And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.
31 And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.
32 Last of all the woman died also.
33 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.
Lu 20:34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
Lu 20:35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage.
Lu 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
Notice the wording "Neither can they die any more for they are equal unto the angels" This seems to clearly state that being equal to angels and not dying is exactly the same---Therefore " Angels can not die"
Mt 8:28 ¶ And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.
Mt 8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
They knew that Jesus was the "
Son of God" and asked Him " art thou come hither to torment us before the time?" They knew that a time of torment was coming , but they thought Jesus was early.
Torment in Greek from Strong's is # 928
928. basanizw basanizo, bas-an-id'-zo from 931; to torture:--pain, toil, torment, toss, vex.
Re 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Uses the same Greek word
The word are-underlined above- is in italics in KJV which shows that it was inserted by the translators. It would be better rendered as "were cast"
These verses seem to indicate that angels do not die and will be TORMENTED forever and ever.
Lets examine all the scriptures on a topic and see if we can gain a better understanding. We will start with Lk 20:34-36 and compare with other gospel accounts of the same event.
Lu 20:34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage.
Lu 20:35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
Lu 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
Mr 12:18 ¶ Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,
Mr 12:19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
Mr 12:20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.
Mr 12:21 And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.
Mr 12:22 And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.
This shows that this is the same event.
Mr 12:23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.
AND this is the same question.
Mr 12:25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.
And Christ's answer. Please notice the additional information " angels which are in heaven" Not ALL angels
Going on
Mt 22:23 ¶ The same day came to him the Sadducee's, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,
Mt 22:24 Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
Mt 22:26 Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.
Mt 22:27 And last of all the woman died also.
Same event
Mt 22:28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
Same question
Mt 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
Mt 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
Christ's answer with even more info. Did you catch it? " angels of God in heaven"
When we look at all the accounts together we have all the information that is available in one place, which shows a specific group of angels
Biblical principle two or three witnesses
Mt 18:16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
Also 1Ti 5:19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
We can now see that Jesus Christ was talking about the HOLY RIGHTEOUS ANGELS in heaven----NOT THE FALLEN ANGELS --WHO are NOT in heaven.
Now we will compare the scriptures regarding torment
Mt 8:28 ¶ And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.
Mt 8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
Remember from before the Gk (Strongs 928 re:torment)
Mr 1:23 ¶ And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,
Mr 1:24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
Notice that in the above 2 examples the wording is very similar. The demons in both examples KNEW WHO CHRIST WAS. They also knew that He was "early" (in their view---they know Gods overall plan) and they knew He had the authority to both torment and destroy.
Gk # 622. apoollumi apollumi, ap-ol'-loo-mee from 575 and the base of 3639; to destroy fully (reflexively, to perish, or lose), literally or figuratively:--destroy, die, lose, mar, perish.
Math 10:28 also uses DESTROY or apollumi
Mt 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Again in James 4:11-12
Jas 4:11 ¶ Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judgeJas 4:12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
"There is one lawgiver (JESUS CHRIST), who is able to SAVE and to DESTROY"
SAVE Gk # 4982. swzw sozo, sode'-zo from a primary sos (contraction for obsolete saos, "safe"); to save, i.e. deliver or protect (literally or figuratively):--heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole.
Sozo is used in 103 verses in the New Testament. Many times referring to physical healing, or to be saved physically.----Example--Peter when he was walking on the water and starting to sink---cried out "Save me" Most of the times it is used for Spiritual salvation
Mr 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Mt 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
Ac 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
Ac 4:11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
Ac 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
for there is NO other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (sozo--obviously spiritual salvation) Some other scriptures demonstrating the spiritual application of "sozo". Mt 18:11 and 24:13---Mark 10:26---Lk 9:56---Lk 13:23 and John 10:9.
One of the clearest translations of James 4:12 is found the "Bible in Basic English" (BBE) Jas 4:12 There is only one judge and law-giver, even he who has the power of salvation and of destruction; but who are you to be your neighbour's judge?
Salvation= sozo and destruction=apollumi
2Co 2:15 For we are a sweet perfume of Christ to God in those who are getting salvation and in those who are going to destruction;
This verse compliments James 4:12
Re 9:11 They have over them as king the angel of the great deep: his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek language Apollyon.
Name in Hebrew ABADDON = "ABAD" = to destroy
Name in Greek Apollyon---This is an active participle of Apollumi= a destroyer.
Let's look at some questions to keep in mind as we continue.
FOREVER ? Is it always Eternal? Old testament example.
Ex 21:2 If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.
Ex 21:3 If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him
Ex 21:4 If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.
Ex 21:5 And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:
Ex 21:6 Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.
Here "for ever " obviously means until the servant's death
New Testament example.
Phm 1:15 For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;
Paul clearly means "for ever" in this instance "for the rest of the life of Onesimus,
To a physical being "for ever" means until their death.
Re 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Could "for ever" for SATAN mean until death??
What about Day and Night?
Re 22:3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
Re 22:4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.
Re 22:5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
From this point forward--there shall be NO NIGHT. (VS 5 )
??COULD THIS influence the scripture quoted above--Rev 20:10??
Is there a possibility that Satan and the demons would only be in the Lake of Fire and tormented until night is no more ??
Ge 3:14 ¶ And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
God is cursing Satan and the end of the last line " all the days of your life "
Are Satan's days numbered??
With these scriptures and questions as a backdrop, lets look at some more definitive scriptures.
SIN
Ro 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The wages of sin is DEATH --Not "life" in another realm. We believe that death is death or the cessation of life.
Satan's first recorded lie is found in Gen 3:4
Ge 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Satan possibly does not want to believe that "death is death"
1Jo 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Manifested 5319. fanerow phaneroo, fan-er-o'-o
from 5318; to render apparent (literally or figuratively):--appear, manifestly declare, (make) manifest (forth), shew (self)
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might " destroy" the works of the devil
If we rearrange the words slightly " The Son of God was manifested (to render apparent) that He might "destroy" the works of the Devil. Destroy here is Gk # 089. luw luo, loo'-o a primary verb; to "loosen" (literally or figuratively):--break (up), destroy, dissolve, (un-)loose, melt, put off. Compare 4486.
Eze 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Eze 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
Again 2 witnesses " The soul that sins shall die"
Mal 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not.
God says " I change not"
Will God make an exception for Satan and demons??
Joh 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. {of his own: or, from his own will or disposition}
Satan was a murderer from the beginning and a liar and the father of it (lies and lying)
1Jo 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
NO murderer has eternal life in him .
Does Satan get away??
Re 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
The end result of "all liars" shall have their part in the Lake of Fire: which is the second death. NO resurrection.
ISAIAH CHAPTER 14
Isa 14:1 ¶ For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
Isa 14:2 And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.
Isa 14:3 And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,
This seems to be and "end of days"/ millennial setting after the second exodus.
Isa 14:4 ¶ That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!
After Babylon and the Golden city is no more.
Isa 14:5 The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of the rulers.
oppressor ceased--golden city ceased. Is this the ruler of Babylon the Great of the end times?
Several types can be seen in this section of scripture.
1. King of Babylon---Nebuchadnezzar
2. Dan 11:21-- a type of the end time King or ruler
3. Type of Satan
Isa 14:6 He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth. {a continual...: Heb. a stroke without removing}
Type of Satan---smote the people with a continual stroke ( see your daily news) all the people of the earth around the world--violence and sin every where. He Satan ruled nations in anger --Plural as the god of this age.
2Co 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. god with a little "g''
Isa 14:7 The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.
Looks to be a millennial setting, a real reason for the entire earth to sing.
Isa 14:8 Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.
This result is not brought about by a human beings death, but by Satan's or his binding at the very least.
Isa 14:9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. {Hell: or, The grave}
Isa 14:10 All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?
Isa 14:11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Cut to the ground= "to hew like a tree" or destruction
Lucifer is inserted in this scripture in place of Hallel ( Hebrew word) It is the only place that Hallel is used as a noun. It is not translated in this instance it is just replaced with a Latin word. It is the only Latin word that I know of in the Hebrew Old Testament.
Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
5 times "I will" is mentioned in these 2 verses--self exhaultation even to the level of God. obviously talking about Satan in these verses
Notice there is no logical or obvious break in the narrative
Isa 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Hell = grave or pit.
Isa 14:16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
Isa 14:17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners? {opened...: or, did not let his prisoners loose homeward?}
Isa 14:17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners? {opened...: or, did not let his prisoners loose homeward?}
Narrowly
Isa 14:18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.
Isa 14:19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.
Over all a very proud individual
Mal 4:1 ¶ For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
Mal 4:2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
Mal 4:3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.
A day coming that shall burn like an oven (destroying heavens and earth--before the New Heavens and New Earth) All the proud --all that do wickedly shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in THE DAY that I shall do this, saith the Lord of Hosts.
EZEKIEL 28
Eze 28:1 ¶ The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
The Word of the Lord to Ezekial ---the Logos---the spokesman of the God Family --Primarily referring to a physical leader with grandiose ideas.
Eze 28:2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:
Eze 28:3 Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee:
Eze 28:4 With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures:
Eze 28:5 By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches:
Eze 28:6 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God;
Eze 28:7 Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness.
Eze 28:8 They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas.
Eze 28:9 Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.
Eze 28:10 Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
Please read the following verse's without preconceived ideas.
Eze 28:11 ¶ Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
The Word of the LORD came again and this time was not talking about a prince but a King.
Eze 28:12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
Eze 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
King of Tyrus obviously describin g Heylel or Satan vs 13 Thou wast created
a created being.
Eze 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
Eze 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
Was on the Holy Mountain of GOD--perfect in every way (again mentions created) til iniquity ( sin ) was found in thee.
Going on--no logical or obvious break in the flow---Still talking about Satan.
Eze 28:16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
Notice I (GOD) will destroy thee ( Satan) Ref. "Covering cherub" R Remember vs 1 and vs 11 " Gods word to Ezekiel" Ezekiel is just the messenger.
Destroy= Hebrew ABAD 06. dba 'abad, aw-bad'
a primitive root; properly, to wander away, i.e. lose oneself; by implication to perish (causative, destroy):--break, destroy(- uction), + not escape, fail, lose, (cause to, make) perish, spend, X and surely, take, be undone, X utterly, be void of, have no way to flee.
Eze 28:17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
Still talking about Heylel or Satan
Eze 28:18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
"Therefore will I (GOD) bring forth a fire from the midst of thee ( Satan),it shall devour thee (Satan) and I (GOD) will bring thee (Satan) to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
Hebrew "devour" Strongs 0398. lka 'akal, aw-kal'
a primitive root; to eat (literally or figuratively):--X at all, burn up, consume, devour(-er, up), dine, eat(-er, up), feed (with), food, X freely, X in...wise(-deed, plenty), (lay) meat, X quite.
A fire that will eat--burn up---consume, to ashes
Hebrew 0665. rpa 'epher, ay'-fer
from an unused root meaning to bestrew; ashes:--ashes.
Eze 28:19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.
Last part of this verse "and never shalt thou be any more"
Hebrew "never"0369. Nya 'ayin, ah'-yin as if from a primitive root meaning to be nothing or not exist; a non-entity; generally used as a negative particle:--else, except, fail, (father-)less, be gone, in(-curable), neither, never, no (where), none, nor, (any, thing), not, nothing, to nought, past, un(-searchable)
To be nothing or not exist
A very STRONG CONDEMNATION BY GOD to Heylel or Satan
I mentioned this to a minister some years back and he said "that has been a long time back--you have to check all translations" so I did and included them.
Eze 28:19 (KJV) All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never [shalt] thou [be] any more.
Eze 28:19 (ASV) All they that know thee among the peoples shall be astonished at thee: thou art become a terror, and thou shalt nevermore have any being.
Eze 28:19 (BBE) All who have knowledge of you among the peoples will be overcome with wonder at you: you have become a thing of fear, and you will never be seen again.
Eze 28:19 (DBY) All they that know thee among the peoples shall be amazed at thee: thou art become a terror, and thou shalt never be any more.
Eze 28:19 (MKJV) All who know you among the peoples shall be astonished at you; you shall be terrors, and you [will] not [be] forever.
Eze 28:19 (MNT) -
Eze 28:19 (NKJV) All who knew you among the peoples are astonished at you; You have become a horror, And [shall be] no more forever."'"
Eze 28:19 (RSV) All who know you among the peoples are appalled at you; you have come to a dreadful end and shall be no more for ever."
Eze 28:19 (TCNT) -
Eze 28:19 (WEB) All those who know you among the peoples shall be astonished at you: you are become a terror, and you shall nevermore have any being.
Eze 28:19 (WNT)
Eze 28:19 (YLT) All knowing thee among the peoples Have been astonished at thee, Wastes thou hast been, and thou art not--to the age.'
Other places "abad" is used
Le 23:30 And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people.
God says, speaking about working on the Day of Atonement " the same soul will I destroy (Abad) from among his people.
No doubt this means DEATH.
De 12:2 Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:
De 12:3 And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.
"UTTERLY DESTROY" = Abad The force and effect equals complete eradication of PAGAN worship.
Blend Isa 14 and Ezek 28 and the story flow shows that the fate of Satan is certain
Jer 32:17 Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is NOTHING TO HARD for thee:
OTHER RELEVANT SCRIPTURES
One of the most important scriptures on this topic is below
1Ti 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
1Ti 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
WHO ONLY hath IMMORTALITY I have not used many commentaries in this study because I wanted to rely mainly upon Scripture but I am going to insert one here because it adds some clarity to the subject at hand.
From Albert Barnes NT Commentary
Verse 16. Who only hath immortality. The word here--ayanasia --properly means exemption from death, and seems to mean that God, in his own nature, enjoys a perfect and certain exemption from death. Creatures have immortality only as they derive it from him, and of course are dependent on him for it. He has it by his very nature, and it is in his case underived, and he cannot be deprived of it. It is one of the essential attributes of his being, that he will always exist, and that death cannot reach him. Comp. the expression in Joh 5:26. "The Father hath life in himself,"
"Creatures have immortality ONLY as they derive it from Him, and of course are dependent on Him for it." Righteous angels are and Human beings given immortality in a resurrection will be dependent on God the Father and Jesus Christ for immortality
Mt 25:31 ¶ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
Mt 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
Mt 25:33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Mt 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
Mt 25:35 For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Mt 25:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Mt 25:37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
Mt 25:38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
Mt 25:39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
Mt 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Mt 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
CHRIST speaking here of the WHITE THRONE JUDGMENT at the end of the age when all human beings that are ready for spiritual life and all others have failed will be judged=="Depart from me you cursed", Notice carefully "into everlasting fire,[comma no period] prepared for the devil and his angels" Jesus Christ's words---The very purpose for everlasting fire is for Satan and the fallen angels.
Isa 30:33"For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it."

A major question is WHICH KING IS THE KING ?
Job 41:34 He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.

A list of the last of all evil doers...Includes all liars burned up in the Lake of Fire and Brimstone. Satan is a liar. The second death is a final death and then there will be no more physical but ALL pure Spirit.
Heb 2:14 ¶ Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

The first direct prophecy of the Messiah in the Bible. --between the seed of the woman (messiah) and the seed of Satan (you are of your father the devil) Satan would bruise Christs heel ( He could no longer walk in the physical)= a temporary death for 3 days and 3 nights Christ to bruise Satan's head + a mortal blow= death. ANOTHER LOOK AT JOB RE: DRAGON
Job 41:13 Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle?
Job 41:14 Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.
Job 41:15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
Job 41:16 One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.
Job 41:17 They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered
Job 41:18 By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
Job 41:19 Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.
Job 41:20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.
Job 41:21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.
If you read these words in any other book, What would you think these words were referring to? In many books on the shelf you would think "A DRAGON"
Re 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
Re 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Job 41:33 Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
Job 41:34 He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.
"A king over all the children of pride." It is not possible that this verse is referring to an aquatic creature---although there possibly existed such a creature in the physical.
I think that we have found our King of Isa 30:33
Isa 30:33 For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.
PRIDE
Ps 10:2 The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined
Ps 10:4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
Ps 59:12 For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.
Pr 16:18 ¶ Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Pride goes before destruction.
Mr 7:21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
Mr 7:22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
Mr 7:23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
Pride is listed as an evil thing that comes from within.
Satan was created PERFECT NO PRIDE
Eze 28:16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned:
Eze 28:17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness:
LIFTED UP Hebrew #01361. hbg gabahh, gaw-bah' a primitive root; to soar, i.e. be lofty; figuratively, to be haughty:--exalt, be haughty, be (make) high(-er), lift up, mount up, be proud, raise up great height, upward.
PRIDE developed from within Heylel or Satan and caused SIN
UNREPENTANT
Heb 10:26 For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Heb 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
If we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth---there is NO SACRIFICE--Just judgment and firey indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. SATAN IS AN ADVERSARY.

Satan is a very powerful being. We need to apply Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Eph 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
We need the whole armor of GOD plus vs 18 Praying always and realizing we also have the power of Jesus Christ.
Mt 10:1 ¶ And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
but more importantly we have AUTHORITY given by Jesus Christ to withstand Satan and his helpers
Lu 9:1 ¶ Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power AND AUTHORITY over all devils, and to cure diseases.
BABYLON and THE SYSTEM OF BABYLON ENDING
Re 18:1 ¶ And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
Re 18:3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
Re 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
Re 18:5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
Re 18:6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
Re 18:7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
Re 18:8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
Re 18:9 ¶ And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
Re 18:10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
Re 18:11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
Re 18:12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble, {thyine: or, sweet}
Re 18:13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men. {slaves: or, bodies}
Re 18:14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.
Re 18:15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
Re 18:16 And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!
Re 18:17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
Re 18:18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
Re 18:19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.
Re 18:20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.
Re 18:21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
Re 18:22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;
Re 18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
Re 18:24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.
The final end of Babylon and the system of Babylon. Mr Armstrong used to talk a lot about coming out of Babylon. He was focused on religious and spiritual Babylon. There are other aspects of Babylon that we need to come out of also==Financial Babylon==Governmental Babylon==Educational Babylon are the ones near the top of the list.
