President Donald Trump on Friday said he wants “a straight 50% Tariff” on the European Union beginning June 1 because trade talks are stuck.
Trump expressed his recommendation via his social media platform.
“The European Union, which was formed for the primary purpose of taking advantage of the United States on TRADE, has been very difficult to deal with. Their powerful Trade Barriers, Vat Taxes, ridiculous Corporate Penalties, Non-Monetary Trade Barriers, Monetary Manipulations, unfair and unjustified lawsuits against Americans Companies, and more, have led to a Trade Deficit with the U.S. of more than $250,000,000 a year, a number which is totally unacceptable. US President Donald Trump has said he is “recommending” a 50% tariff on all goods from the European Union being imported to the United States.
“Our discussions with them are going nowhere!”, he said in a post on social media on Friday. He said the new tariffs kick in on 1 June.
The announcement marks an escalation of Trump’s trade war with the EU. He initially proposed a 20% tariff on most EU goods, but halved it to 10% until 8 July to allow time for talks. …
Since re-entering the White House, Trump has imposed and threatened various tariffs on countries around the world, which he sees as a way of boosting US manufacturing and protecting jobs from foreign competition.
A tariff is a domestic tax levied on goods as they enter a country, proportional to the value of the import and it is paid by the business importing them.
The prospect of higher tariffs being introduced on imports to the US has rattled many world leaders because it will make it more expensive and difficult for businesses to sell goods in the world’s largest economy.
On Friday, Trump said the EU had been “very difficult to deal with”.
“Our discussions with them are going nowhere! Therefore, I am recommending a straight 50% Tariff on the European Union, starting on June 1, 2025,” he added. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cgr5xrygzk5o
How did the EU react to Trump’s tariff threat?
The EU Commission declined to comment on Trump’s post, saying it would wait until for a phone call between EU trade chief Maros Sefcovic and his US counterpart Jamieson Greer to take place at 1500 GMT.
Meanwhile, the euro fell, reversing earlier gains that had been made after the previous Trump tariff threat, reigniting investor fears about the impact of duties on the world economy and trade.
European markets fell almost immediately after Trump’s posts. While Donald Trump considers that the EU id very difficult to work with, the basic EU position is that they did not start the trade war, they are willing to negotiate, but they have a larger market than the USA (particularly if one considers the other nations that also want to be in the EU), hence the trade issue is a problem Donald Trump and the USA, not the EU, is causing

Europe now wants to strengthen its own military, while also increasing its international trade. Europe expects to set the standards for various goods and services as well as the rules for much of the world’s trade.

- Pushing tariffs and other policies that foreign nations do not like is contributing to other nations looking to bypass the USA dollar, as well as trade more with each other and less with the USA. This will further push various globalist’s moves forward without the USA. This is also helping set the stage for the coming European Babylonian Beast to dominate international trade.

So, is the European Union taking actions consistent with those predictions?
Yes.
Consider, that at least partially because of Donald Trump’s statements and policies, the EU has made, or at least accelerated, trade deals with Mexico (see Trade war escalates as European Union hits back against Donald Trump’s tariffs), Asia (see European Union’s reputation and influence growing with ASEAN and Central Asian nations), South America (see Donald Trump is end of ‘American Century’? The British ‘Century’ also ended. so what is next? EU trade chief calls for ‘paradigm shift’ in international trade
The European Union’s trade chief has said that Monday’s meeting will focus on the “paradigm shift” in international trade.
“What we are going to discuss is how to position Europe in what I would describe as the paradigm shift of the global trading system,” Maros Sefcovic told reporters before meeting with the bloc’s 27 trade ministers.

What the above means is that Europe will try to deal with USA, but at the same time look to export elsewhere. Yes, a paradigm shift in trade is in the process of happening and is consistent with biblical prophecies (e.f. Revelation 18).
