The US Senate failed to approve a bill to allow the funding of the US government:

The federal government is officially entering a partial shutdown on Wednesday after the midnight funding deadline passed with Democrats and Republicans failing to agree on a funding bill.
An earlier attempt by Senate Republicans to pass a short-term extension of fiscal year (FY) 2025 government funding levels, called a continuing resolution (CR), was sunk by Democrats who were furious about being sidelined in shutdown negotiations.
The bill, which would have given Congress until Nov. 21 to set FY 2026 funding priorities, passed the House largely along party lines on Sept. 19. The Senate is expected to vote on the same bill again on Wednesday, with more votes to come through the rest of the week and into the weekend until either a deal is struck or Democrats relent. …

The standoff is a political test for Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer, who has drawn scorn from a restive base of left-flank voters pushing the party to hold firm in its demands for health care funding.
“Americans are hurting with higher costs,” Schumer said after the failed vote Tuesday.
House Speaker Mike Johnson sent lawmakers home nearly two weeks ago after having passed the GOP bill, blaming Democrats for the shutdown.

Let me simply add that this is basically a political game of “chicken.”
But what will happen is the the debt of the USA will rise.
After he was elected the first time, but before Donald Trump became president, on December 6, 2016, I posted the following:

Interestingly, back in 2017 Donald Trump sent out statements on what was then called Twitter regarding a possible government shutdown for September 2017:

He also expressed frustration that legislation needs 60 votes in the Senate because of the filibuster, saying it would be necessary to elect more Republicans or “change the rules.”

The USA has repeatedly raised its so-called ‘debt-ceiling.’
According to the US Treasury, the debt of the USA as of 01/19/2017 was 19,944,429,217,106.77 (https://treasurydirect.gov/NP/debt/current)–the day before Donald Trump took office the first time.

Based on the USA population being 340,100,000 persons, the official US federal government debt is $110,280.70 per person, man, woman, and child. And that does not count State and City debts.
The average family cannot pay back even its share of the official federal debt, let alone the other government debts (including those, like future Social Security payments, which are not in the official figures).
Yet, USA government debt continues to rise.
The USA is also in more debt than any other nation in the history of the world. Historically, Congress has “kicked the can” down the road and never really solved the US debt problem–expect the same again with the current ‘negotiations.’
While some feel that Donald Trump might help delay the day of reckoning for the USA (cf. Daniel 4:27), a real reckoning will happen.
How do I know this?
Partially, because the Bible teaches the following:
12…Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths.” (Isaiah 3:12)
16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).
43 The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower. 44 He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. 45 Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed because you did not obey the voice of the LORD your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you…47 “Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything, 48 therefore you shall serve your enemies, whom the LORD will send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in need of everything; and He will put a yoke of iron on your neck until He has destroyed you. 49 The LORD will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you will not understand, 50 a nation of fierce countenance, which does not respect the elderly nor show favor to the young. 51 And they shall eat the increase of your livestock and the produce of your land, until you are destroyed; they shall not leave you grain or new wine or oil, or the increase of your cattle or the offspring of your flocks, until they have destroyed you. 52 They shall besiege you at all your gates until your high and fortified walls, in which you trust, come down throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you at all your gates throughout all your land which the LORD your God has given you (Deuteronomy 28:42-45,47-52)
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry…5 Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man… 6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases What is not his–how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. 8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you (Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8).
The above prophecy will be fulfilled at the time of the end (cf. “The message was true, but the appointed time was long…in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come,” Daniel 10:1,14). Daniel 8:19, 11:27,29,35 use the same Hebrew term for “appointed time” as Habakkuk 2:3, while Daniel 10, using a different term, ties the latter days to the time in Daniel 8:19. Habakkuk 2 was not fulfilled in its entirety anciently. Also, it makes little sense that Habakkuk would be directed towards the modern nation of Israel as it does not have enemy creditors. It must be a nation or group of nations with some prominence at the appointed time of the end. One day, foreigners will figure out that the USA cannot possibly pay back its debt, and the creditors will arise as Habakkuk 2:6-8 prophesies.
The nation with the greatest debt of all time is the United States of America, and on a per capita basis the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland has one of the highest. Despite posturing, sequestration, budget committees, government shutdowns, etc. that were supposed to correct this, the USA is intent on increasing its total debt–this is unsustainable and cannot continue in perpetuity. The debt is much more dangerous than the predominant view that politicians in the USA publicly state.
The Congressional Budget Office sees increased debt for the DECADES it tried to project for.
Is a government shutdown the answer?
No.
First of all, the government does not really shut down. Secondly, the parts of the government that stop spending do not cost that much relative to the spending that tends to continue. And thirdly, this has been done many times before, and the debt keeps rising.
And yes, there could be some political ramifications this shutdown in the elections in November 2026. But do not hold your breath if you think that this will solve the USA’s debt problems.
The Bible teaches that debt is one of the curses that happen to the disobedient:
15 “But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you: (Deuteronomy 28:15)

The end result of the coming massive financial crisis will be the END OF THE USA!
However, this will not happen this month, this year, nor even during the first term of Donald Trump’s Administration.
But it will come to pass (Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8; Deuteronomy 28:42-45,47-52).
While your nation probably will not repent (Anglo or otherwise), you can. Do not wait until it is too late. The fact that the USA continues to NOT solve its debt problems should serve as a wake-up call that the end of the USA will be coming as the Bible predicts.
