The late Billy Graham at least once declared that he believed signs show that Jesus' return was soon.

Some thought this meant that Jesus would return by December 31, 2014.

Others have looked at other signs.

Some claim that a mysterious object from space called Planet X, Planet 9, or Planet Nibiru will hit the Earth and cause massive devastation by 2018 (others said 2012, 2013, 2016, and 2017). Will all human life be gone by an impact like this as some have indicated? (Click the follow link to watch a related YouTube video Planet Nibiru to Destroy Earth by 2017?)

What does the Bible teach? Is it possible that the Earth will be hit by a devastating object falling from the heavens in the 21st century? Could it be in or by 2013?

This article will try to answer these questions and more.

After denouncing various false predictions (which were originally denounced before they were shown to be failures), this article has a speculative prediction as well as a certain one.

Planet Nibiru Hit to April 23, 2018

David Meade claimed that Planet Nibiru would hit Earth on April 23, 2018:

That’s the advice if you believe conspiracy theorists who say that the world is going to end with biblical rapture as ‘death planet’ Nibiru appears in the sky.

The date for our collective departure from this mortal coil is April 23.

According to the wacky theory, the moon, sun and Jupiter are going to align in Virgo, triggering the start of the biblical Rapture.  ...

David Meade, who has previously predicted the end of the world, said: ‘By early April of 2018, the disappearance of the Church (all true Christians worldwide also known as the Rapture) will occur.

‘This will be followed quickly by the rise of the Antichrist, the appearance of Planet X and World War III.

He was wrong as that was NOT possible (see When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?).

Some doomsayers thought that Planet Nibiru would hit Planet Earth on September 23, 2017:

Meade claims it’s DEFINITELY coming, because the eclipse in America on August 21 is a warning.

Meade told the Daily Star, ‘The Great American Eclipse of August 21, 2017, is a major – huge – harbinger.’

Meade’s prediction is largely based on the Bible passage Isaiah, Chapter 13 9-10 which says, ‘See, the Day of the Lord is coming – a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger – to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it.

According to UK Telegraph, modern-day conspiracy theorists “are claiming that a planet will collide with Earth this September – and that the coming solar eclipse will signal the apocalypse’s beginning.” They think the planet is called Nibiru or Planet X. The date of doom? September 23, 2017.

This theory derives from a Christian numerologist. “Christian numerologist David Meade claims he has discovered a ‘date marker’ that reveals when Planet X – and the reported resulting apocalypse – is coming,” reports UK Express. The planet “is reportedly a huge planet with a vast orbit that conspiracy theorists claim will one day pass so close to Earth that its gravitational pull could wreak havoc on our planet, triggering earthquakes and other catastrophic events.” He’s claimed he used Bible verses for the prediction. Such prophecies have been foretold before and didn’t come true. …

According to BeliefNet.com, “Gary Ray, who writes for Unsealed, believes that the end is coming. But the {August 21, 2017} … eclipse is another astronomical sign the end is near and that the Rapture is fast approaching. He told the Washington Post that the image will be created in the sky on Sept. 23. He explained that Virgo represents the woman in Revelations 12 who will be clothed in sunlight. She will be in position over the moon and under the nine stars and three planets. Ray said that image will be created in the sky on Sept. 23.” … Ray, the Post wrote, “thinks the two eclipses that are slated to travel across the United States in 2017 and 2024, together marking an X across the nation, could be the starting and ending signs bookmarking a seven-year period of awful tribulations that Revelations says waits in store for nonbelievers who are left behind on Earth when the Rapture occurs. http://heavy.com/news/2017/08/solar-eclipse-end-of-the-world-bible-prophecies-september-23-sept-revelations-12-predictions/

Did Planet Nibiru hit and destroy the Earth on September 23, 2107?

No.

Of course, Planet Nibiru destruction or trying to tie things in with Revelation 12 is not a new idea. I have regularly denounced the Planet Nibiru destruction and Revelation 12 claims in the past (e.g. More predictions that planet ‘Nibiru’ will destroy the Earth this year and BibleNewsProphecy: Planet Nibiru to Destroy Earth by 2017?). The 'tribulation' did not begin on August 21, 2017 and Gary Ray's 'rapture' logic was in error.

Sadly, various ones bring their false understanding of biblical prophecy into to there astronomical theories as David Meade and Gary Ray have.

They also brought in the solar eclipse of August 21, 2017, which I denounced as not a harbinger from God as David Meade, Gary Ray, and Mark Biltz indicated, but simply as a natural phenomena (watch Solar Eclipse and the Apocalypse).

The problem that these Protestant prophecy prognosticators have is that they overlook the sequence of events that Jesus laid out as recorded by the gospel writer Matthew (for more details, see also When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?).

Because they and others like them have falsely claimed that God is sending a message through natural phenomena, this is turning people off against Bible prophecy. The following prophecy from the Apostle Peter applies not only to people who claim to be in the COG (David Pack, Ron Weinland, and Gerald Flurry come to mind), but also to those like David Meade, Gary Ray, and Mark Biltz:

1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber. (2 Peter 2:1-3)

The false prognosticators cause the Christian way to be blasphemed, even though (in my view) none of those I have specifically named are real Christians.

No wonder, Peter was also inspired to write:

3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; (2 Peter 3:3-15)

There is a Real Risk from Space

Is there real risk from space?

In November 2013, NASA revealed that its research showed that it has underestimated the risk of significant objects from outer space impacting the Earth:

New, DEVASTATING Chelyabinsk METEOR STRIKE: ’7x as likely’ as thought

NASA has revealed new research on the Chelyabinsk meteorite that exploded over Russia in February, and the findings aren’t good: not only does it look like the astronomic models about the number of similar-sized things reaching Earth are wrong, but also the damage they can do is much greater than expected.

“If you look at the number of impacts detected by US government sensors over the past few decades you find the impact rate of kiloton-class objects is greater than would be indicated by the telescopic surveys,” said Bill Cooke, meteoroid environment office lead at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center at a press conference on Wednesday.

“Over the past few decades we’ve seen an impact rate about seven times greater than the current state of the telescopic surveys would indicate.”

Earth Will Be Hit By An Asteroid With 100 Percent Certainty, Says Space-Watching Group B612

The Earth will be hit by a devastating asteroid capable of destroying all, or most, of life on the planet, says a group of scientists and former astronauts. What’s more, as The Daily Star reports, it is a 100 percent certainty that it’s going to happen.

B612 provides a non-governmental voice on the risks, options, and implications of asteroid data while advancing the technical means by which that data is acquired. We work to make interpretation of asteroid data open and accessible, and we serve as an informed source for an international community of policy makers and scientists who can best help to achieve these goals.”

It is possible that the biblically prophesied Wormwood (Revelation 8:10-11) could be an asteroid. Though a comet seems more likely. However, like comets, some asteroids are bound to have substances that would be bitter in water which is prophesied for Wormwood (Revelation 8:10-11) .

Before going further, here is some additional information about asteroids and the asteroid belt:

Most asteroids lie in a vast ring between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. This main belt holds more than 200 asteroids larger than 60 miles (100 kilometers) in diameter. Scientists estimate the asteroid belt also contains more than 750,000 asteroids larger than three-fifths of a mile (1 kilometer) in diameter and millions of smaller ones. Not everything in the main belt is an asteroid — for instance, comets have recently been discovered there, and Ceres, once thought of only as an asteroid, is now also considered a dwarf planet.

Many asteroids lie outside the main belt. For instance, a number of asteroids called Trojans lie along Jupiter’s orbital path…An asteroid capable of global disaster would have to be more than a quarter-mile wide. Researchers have estimated that such an impact would raise enough dust into the atmosphere to effectively create a “nuclear winter,” severely disrupting agriculture around the world. Comet ISON (C/2012) will swing close to the sun at the end of this month and should be visible in the pre-dawn sky in December. This comet is predicted to be dramatic, but comets are unpredictable.

It will pass about 0.42 AU (63 million km) from Earth on 26 December 2013. I cannot believe anyone thinks this is a near miss. So, while some scientists were expecting a lot from Comet ISON, it did not meet their expectations. Scientists are not always right--the Bible, however, is.

Double Comets: Battams points out another exciting development: Comet Encke and Comet ISON are converging for a photogenic close encounter.“No they’re not going to hit each other – in reality they are millions of miles apart – but as seen from the STEREO-A spacecraft, they are going to get very close!” he says. “We are probably a couple of days away from seeing two comets almost side-by-side in that camera, with long tails flowing behind them in the solar wind. To say that such an image will be unprecedented is rather an understatement.” Stay tuned for that. –Space Weather

Neither Comet ISON nor Encke are the prophecied Wormwood. Comet ISON ended up fizzling out/breaking apart, and that confirmed that it was not.

Planet X, Planet Nibiru, and Comet ISON

Back in 2012, many were concerned about Planet X, also known as Planet Nibiru.

The so-called science is that according to an old NASA report, there could be another planet. A tenth planet, which some then called planet X as it had not been found. Various ones have suggested that this planet will crash into the Earth.

Here are two reports about it:

What about “Planet X”?

The most cataclysmic of prophesied end-time “natural” disasters is the scenario of a collision or near-miss of another planet with the earth. The mysterious orb that supposedly threatens us has been called “Planet X” or “Planet Nibiru,” and some expect it to arrive on Dec. 12, 2012.

But what is the evidence that this will occur? There is no scientific evidence that supports this idea. The idea came “not by radio signals from the cosmos, but [instead has supposedly been] channeled through medium and Zeto envoy Nancy Lieder, who was in contact with . . . altruistic aliens” (Govert Schilling, The Hunt for Planet X, 2009, p. 115) (Published in Good News, 2012)

Prophetic dates come and go.  What about December 21, 2012?

Some say the day of doom is at the door. Alignment of planets, a collision with Nibiru, a shifting polar axis, reversal of earth’s magnetic field, a “beam” from the Milky Way’s center, catastrophic earthquakes and tsunamis — all coming to their climactic focus on December 21 of this year! (McBride J. Bible Advocate, 2012)

I denounced the Planet X destruction theory back in 2012 and explained that it would not destroy the Earth then. Notice something that I posted on December 1, 2012:

I thought I would provide a list of ten ‘predictions’ related to the world ending this month and the truth why they are all wrong...

PREDICTION: Some claim that the galaxy will be in perfect alignment and cause massive disruptions on December 21/22, 2012 or that planet Nibiru will hit.
TRUTH: Yet astronomers do not believe that the alignment (which is not galaxy-wide nor perfect) could possibly generate enough gravitational flow to cause massive disruption nor do they believe in destruction via an invented planet called Nibiru...

Stories about the fictional planet Nibiru and predictions of the end of the world in December 2012 have blossomed on the Internet. While the world as we know it will end some day, it cannot possibly be in December 2012.

There have not been enough of the biblically-required signs (see, for example, Matthew 24 and Daniel 11:27-39) fulfilled for it to be this early. (Thiel B. Ten ‘End of the World Predictions’ That Will Be Proven False This Month. December 1, 2012) 

And, of course, I was right then.

On YouTube is an interview with a Puerto Rican named Amaury Rivera who claims to have been abducted by aliens for a time on May 14, 1988. Some have suggested that the information he gained from one of the aliens was that Comet Ison is Planet Nibiru and would hit the Earth. Part of Amaury Rivera's proof is that this 'alien encounter' happened is that he took a couple of photographs of US jets that he claimed went to track the alien ship. Those photos show one or two US jets. They provide proof that someone took pictures of one or more US jets, and not an encounter with extraterrestrial aliens.

Now, I have known for quite sometime that a few have claimed that comet ISON was dangerous and can lead to the end of the world in 2013 or 2014.  Here are a couple of reports on that:

When is a comet not just a comet, but a divine warning sign like Jesus spoke of coming in the end times? If you do not know how to answer that, Comet “ISON” may test you with fear and in 2013. Doomsday watchers are already predicting that Comet ISON is Planet X, Nibiru, Wormwood, or a gravitational earthquake/deep impact threat. Is Comet ISON a false flag for hiding the truth about Nibiru? Many researchers and Nibiru hunters are proposing that Comet ISON is actually planet Nibiru or is an symptom of Nibiru arriving soon to our solar system. They point to the increase in meteors and comets that might have been dislodged or affected by the gravity of the impending planet. What do you think of when you hear the word Nibiru or one of its other names like; Planet X, Wormwood, Hercolubus, Nemesis, Tyche, Marduk, Great Red Dragon, Black Sun, Destroyer, Doom shape, Dark Star, Dark Companion, Dark Twin? Some think farce, some think pole shift and hiding underground, I think rapture...So assuming Nibiru exists let’s consider the question from a Biblical perspective; when will Nibiru arrive? Answer; after the Sixth Seal is opened, which is when the rapture occurs. When might the rapture occur? The truth is that it was NOT possible for Jesus to return in 2014 or 2015.

As it turns out, another planet was found in December 2013:

It weighs 11 times the mass of Jupiter and orbits a star that is much like the Sun, but does so at a distance of 60 billion miles. Astronomers have discovered a super Jupiter in a record-smashing orbit for a sun-like star, far outside the disk of dust and debris that rings the star and that typically gives rise to planets. But that planet is not about to come crashing to the earth in the next few years.

Yet, it is true that something from space, probably an asteroid or a comet, is prophesied in the Bible to hit the Earth and cause massive damage (Revelation 8:10-11). But not before 2022.

We have been feeling the disruptive effects of the inbound rogue Planet X since 1996 in the form of increased seismic and volcanic activities, freak weather patterns, and natural disasters.

The above was nonsense. Yet, because most people are ignorant of biblical prophecies, many are misled. Some claimed ‘Planet Nine’ was Nibiru. Notice also the following:

Nemesis is a small star or brown dwarf (a “failed star” that’s considerably larger than a planet) hypothesized to zoom through space not far from the sun. The so-called science is that according to an old NASA report, there could be another planet. A tenth planet, which some then called planet X as it had not been found. Various ones have suggested that this planet will crash into the Earth.

What about “Planet X”?

The most cataclysmic of prophesied end-time “natural” disasters is the scenario of a collision or near-miss of another planet with the earth. The mysterious orb that supposedly threatens us has been called “Planet X” or “Planet Nibiru,” and some expect it to arrive on Dec. 12, 2012.

But what is the evidence that this will occur? There is no scientific evidence that supports this idea. The idea came “not by radio signals from the cosmos, but [instead has supposedly been] channeled through medium and Zeto envoy Nancy Lieder, who was in contact with . . . altruistic aliens” (Govert Schilling, The Hunt for Planet X, 2009, p. 115) (Published in Good News, 2012)

Prophetic dates come and go. What about December 21, 2012?

Some say the day of doom is at the door. Alignment of planets, a collision with Nibiru, a shifting polar axis, reversal of earth’s magnetic field, a “beam” from the Milky Way’s center, catastrophic earthquakes and tsunamis — all coming to their climactic focus on December 21 of this year! (McBride J. Bible Advocate, 2012)

I denounced the Planet X destruction theory back in 2012 and explained that it would not destroy the Earth then.

And no planet is about to come crashing to the Earth this year and destroy the Earth.

Yet, it is true that something from space, probably an asteroid or a comet, is prophesied in the Bible to hit the Earth and cause massive damage (Revelation 8:10-11). But not before 2025.

A large comet hitting the earth would also seem to have similar effects to that of a medium-sized asteroid. And having something actually hit the earth and do massive damage is predicted in the Bible.

The Wormwood object cannot hit yet.

Why?

Over 1900 years ago, the Apostle John was inspired to write about Wormwood and more in the Book of Revelation. If you look at the sequence of events that proceed Wormwood, it is obvious that all cannot happen between now and next month.  Notice that the first nine verses happen prior to Wormwood falling from heaven:

1 When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets. 3 Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand. 5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.

6 So the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

7 The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.

8 Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood. 9 And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed. (Revelation 8:1-9)

It should also be noted that there are MANY EVENTS that also have to take place before the above events as well.

Continuing in Revelation, John wrote:

10 Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. 11 The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter. (Revelation 8:10-11)

Notice that Wormwood does not fall until after the third trumpet associated with the seventh seal of Revelation is blown. Well, this would mean that the fifth and sixth seal would also have already been opened–which are mentioned in Revelation 6:7-17, and the 144,000 numbered as shown in Revelation 7.  And I should add that the fifth seal of Revelation cannot possibly be opened for at least 3 1/2 years from now (see When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?), with over 4 years the likely minimum.

Because of all of that, Jesus cannot possibly return before 2025. In December of 2012, I made a post titled Ten ‘End of the World Predictions’ That Will Be Proven False This Month. Of course, I was right about that, and one of the ten had to do with allegedly ‘Planet Nibiru’ hitting the Earth in December 2012. 

Planet Nibiru per se does not exist, but Wormwood does–but again Wormwood cannot hit for several years at the earliest.  That does not mean that there cannot be any problems from meteorites, comets, asteroids, solar flares, etc.  But it does mean that the world will not end for at least several years.

Wormwood May Be a Type of Comet

Could the Wormwood star prophesied in the Bible be some type of a comet?

A large comet hitting the earth would also seem to have similar effects to that of a medium-sized asteroid.  And having something actually hit the earth and do massive damage is predicted in the Bible.

Although the biblical Wormwood does not have to be a comet, and possibly could be an asteroid (or at least possibly come from the asteroid belt), it sounds more like a comet than an asteroid.

Why?

In addition to looking like a star falling from the heavens looking like a torch (and an asteroid could possibly do that), comets normally appear with cyanogen. Astronomers state hydrogen cyanide on comets may be their source of cyanogen gas.

Interestingly, the cyanogen gas mixes with water to form hydrogen cyanide, which has an almond odor and bitter taste, and reportedly causes death at concentrations over 5 parts per million.

And thus for Bible skeptics, the fact that centuries before humans had any idea that comets could produce a poisonous bitter water, it is recorded in the Bible. This should be additional proof to those willing to see that the Bible has been inspired by God. The Apostle John would have no other way to know about that.

And while comets are still more likely to fulfill the Wormwood prophecy than asteroids, humans still have no real effective way to deal with potential asteroid devastation, and some day, a major object from the sky will strike the earth according to biblical prophecy.

As far as other signs go, I should also mention that certain Protestant pastors (like John Hagee) have suggested that the appearance of ‘blood moons’ in 2014 and 2015 could be a sign that:

• The Great Tribulation may begin
• The Day of the Lord may start
• Jesus may return

A “Mega-Comet” That Is At Least 62 Miles Wide Has Entered Our Solar System

Did you know that an absolutely gigantic comet that is at least 62 miles wide is cruising through our solar system right now? Comet Bernardinelli-Bernstein is already closer to the sun than Neptune, but scientists are assuring us that it is absolutely no threat to our planet. If that is true, that is great news, because it appears that this is the biggest comet ever discovered. It is being projected that it will make its closest approach to the sun in January 2031, and after that it is expected to head on a path that will eventually take it out of our solar system. Let us hope that all of this information is accurate, but could there be a possibility that the scientists that have studied this giant space rock are wrong?

I think that there are at least a couple of reasons for skepticism. First of all, at this moment Comet Bernardinelli-Bernstein is incredibly difficult to see. …

Secondly, nobody can seem to accurately tell us exactly how big it is.  At this point, we are being told that it is “between 62 to 230 miles (100 to 370 km) in diameter”…

It’s thought to be the largest comet yet discovered, possibly as big as a dwarf planet. It’s still far away and hard to see, but the current estimate suggests its nucleus, or core, is between 62 to 230 miles (100 to 370 km) in diameter. Whoa! That’s big for a comet.

That is a huge range.

Most media outlets are using the measurement on the low end of the range, but the truth is that we are being told that it could be almost four times larger.

If there is such uncertainty about the size of the object, how in the world can they have so much certainty about the orbit?

And if the scientists are correct, this comet will come closest to the sun in January 2031 …

And actually the truth is that we could be hit by a different giant space rock long before 2031 ever rolls around.  On average, the Earth is hit by 17 space rocks a day, and of course the vast majority of them are way too small to be of any concern.

This is of interest for a few reasons.

One is that the Bible shows that 2 1/2 to 3 years or so after the start of the Great Tribulation, the Earth will be hit hard by something from outer-space called Wormwood. Since the Great Tribulation may begin in 2026 or 2027 or 2028 (presuming we see certain signs Jesus mentioned in places like the 24th chapter of Matthew), 2 1/2 to 3 years later is near early 2031.

The second issue is the size.

Comet Bernardinelli-Bernstein is “thought to be the largest comet yet discovered.”

Something large is also consistent with a certain biblical prophecy.

If Wormwood is a comet like Bernardinelli-Bernstein, it will cause massive destruction as the Bible foretells.

Now, this does not mean that Comet Bernardinelli-Bernstein will or must be the biblical Wormwood.

But the fact that there is such a newly discovered large comet that is expected to come close within the next 10 years certainly shows that others may be out there.

And biblically, we know that one, called Wormwood, is out there and WILL HIT PLANET EARTH!

And, if we certain events occur that Jesus predicted in the next couple of years, that destruction may well be in or by 2031.

Asteroid Apophis

Protestant Mark Biltz, who was one pushing the 'bood moon' nonsense as well as nonsense related to the August 21, 2017 solar eclipse (see Blood Moons, Eclipses, and Prophecy;), is now pushing something else:

The asteroid Apophis, named after an Egyptian god of chaos, is poised to make a near miss of Earth on April 13, 2029. …

Mark Biltz, who rocked the Christian world with his discovery of the “Blood Moons” phenomenon, quoted Isaiah 13:10, which states: “For the stars of the sky and its constellations will not give their light. The sun will be darkened in its going forth, and the moon will not cause its light to shine.”

Biltz also cited Revelation 8:10, which states, in part, “And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water.”

Biltz argues this refers to the world being struck by an extraplanetary object and argues the last days will be marked by strange events in the heavens.

“According to the Book of Revelation, it definitely sounds like an asteroid!” exclaimed Biltz. “I see the possibility of even more than one, or many meteors hitting Earth as well.”

The discoverer of the “Blood Moons” phenomenon says God is sending a message to the church – and all people need to do to see it is look skyward.

The Boston Globe recently reported the path of the upcoming total solar eclipse which will cross the United States on August 21 will overwhelmingly move over counties won by Donald Trump in the recent presidential election.

The paper was mocked on social media for suggesting heavenly events have some connection to earthly politics.

But Pastor Mark Biltz, the man who discovered the “Blood Moons” phenomenon, argues people should be cautious before resorting to snark.

He points out Genesis 1:14, which says astronomical phenomena were partially intended “for signs.” And as Biltz believes the solar eclipse itself is a sign and a warning to the United States, he suggests there may also be meaning in the solar eclipse’s path.

“I would not mock those who do or do not believe there is significance in this eclipse’s path,” the pastor told WND. “The path of totality is showing where it is the darkest and the path of judgment unless there is repentance. At the same time, though, judgment always begins with God’s people first. This is a call for the church to repent and become more like Abraham rather than Lot and to intercede. The church needs to wake up and repent if we are to save this nation and not be mocking the unrighteous. While the Bible talks about heavenly signs (e.g. Matthew 24:29-30; Revelation 6;12) and the USA needs to change (repent), Mark Biltz has often misunderstood natural astronomical occurrences.

The truth is that Mark Biltz’s false prophecies about “blood moons” did not rock the Christian world, though various Protestants were misled by him. In 2014 and 2015, I denounced various non-biblical blood moon theories, including claims made by Mark Biltz (see Blood Moons and Prophecy). He was proven wrong, and I was proven right about this.

In 2016, I denounced the view from another that asteroid Bennu would destroy the world (see ABC warned about Asteroid Bennu potentially destroying the Earth). I also denounced the idea of some that the Earth could be destroyed by Planet Niburu by 2017 (watch Planet Nibiru to Destroy Earth by 2017?)

And in 2017, I denounced the idea that Planet Niburu was going to destroy the planet on September 23, 2017.

Comet ISON, the Mayan Calendar, and December 16, 2013

A particular person from New Jersey sent several emails insisting that the true end of the Mayan calendar is December 16, 2013 and that the Earth would be struck or affected then by something then, like perhaps Comet ISON.  Here are some excerpts from one of his emails:

That same individual also sent me an email that stated the following:

Millions, if not billions will be thrust back to the stone age. Unfortunately, few know how to live that way anymore. Wildlife will be fine. Modern civilization, not so much!!!

Prepare your family and flock as best you can, we're in for some very hard times.

CONFIRMATION:

MAY 2012: The Mayan's Dresden Codex predicted a Solar eclipse on May 20, 2012, and it happened. The Codex also indicates the Earth would be struck by a mild geomagnetic storm on the same day, and it happened (proof below). CONFIRMED!!!

Biblicaly, I'm guessing this is the beginning of the Great Tribulation. Without modern technology, life on Earth will descend into chaos in a matter of a few days, or even hours.

Now, as one who studied the Mayan Dresden Codex, I can say that it appeared to me that some of the astronomical events it seemed to predict in 2012, like the transit of Venus, to cite one event (2012's rare ‘Transit of Venus’ is coming), was correct.

I will also add that NASA scientists have indicated the sun's magnetic field could reverse by the end of 2013 (see NASA expects serious solar event this year: Magnetic field is about to reverse polarity), which did not happen. But I also wrote the the world would not end in December 2013.

Yet, I also believe that much of the world is highly dependent upon electricity and electrical interference from the sun, a comet, and or an emp type bomb could possibly bring civilization to its knees. Even some astronomers have warned that comets could cause a type of electronic ‘Armageddon’:

Now, while Armageddon itself is a term used in the Bible for the location where armies in the end time will gather for battle, what the astronomer is trying to say is that comets, if large enough, could end civilized life of earth. Some believe that a comet incident will do something in November and/or December this year, and it very well might. It should be noted that it is well know that solar flares and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) weapons could do that, or at least eliminate computers from many parts of the earth.

Of course, in the future, there are real electrical risks for the USA, Canada, UK, and other nations. But most ignore warning signs.

That being said, the 'great tribulation' itself did not start on December 16, 2013. Perhaps I should mention that world events also aligned with at least 32 predictions in my book 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect (a list can be found at the beginning of the old article End of Mayan Calendar 2012--Might 2012 Mean Something?). And yes, I do believe my biblically-understood prophetic views about the start of the 'great tribulation' will also be correct. 

Even if there is a massive electrical event this year, at most this would be part of what Jesus called troubles associated with the 'beginning of sorrows':

8...And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:8)

4 "Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:4-8)

The 'great tribulation' does not happen (Matthew 24:21) until after other events (Matthew 24:14-20).

Comet ISON and Wormwood

Some claimed Comet ISON was not a normal comet and represented disaster. Some have tied it to the biblical 'Wormwood' of Revelation 8. Notice the following:

Comet ISON is predicted to be 15x the brightness of a Full Moon, visible during daylight. It is the comet of the Millenium and perhaps the greatest comet of all times. It’s near parabolic orbit leads astronomers to believe this is its 1st approach to the Sun.

ISON is an Anglo-Saxon, Norman French, Old English derivation of “Joseph” meaning “Adding or Increasing. Comet ISON is 3 miles wide with a tail of gas and dust almost 200 thousand miles long...

I decided to look up the meaning of the names of the two Russians who discovered ISON: Vitali Nevski and Artyom Novichonok. The name of the first astronomer, Vitali, means life. His last name, Nevski, is an offshoot of Neva, which is a river in Russia and means “sea” or “water”. Therefore, the name of the first guy breaks down into “Vital or Living Waters”. In Latin, the meaning of Neva is radiance or brightness. In this case his name would mean “alive with radiant brightness”. Scientists are interested in ISON due to a study in how icy comets seed life throughout the universe. Without water there is no life.

The name of the second astronomer is where it gets ominous. The name Artyom originates from ARTEMISIOS and means WORMWOOD (a bitter herb). Some have wondered that since the biblical Wormwood affects fresh water, if this could be an indication that Comet ISON is the biblical Wormwood. When more and more people start to see it they will wonder.

Yet Comet ISON could not have been the biblical Wormwood of Revelation 8. And it proved it.

What About Planet Nine?

Wormwood, Planet Nibiru, and Comet ISON

The Bible absolutely teaches that an object from the heavens will fall on the Earth and cause massive devastation.

This could be from something like a comet or an asteroid or ?

However, since this event does not occur until after many others, including the start of the Great Tribulation (see also When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?) there is no possible way that this will happen before 2025. Comet ISON was not it. Nor, unless it comes back later will be Comet Encke.

While some may consider that Planet X or Planet Nibiru or Planet Nine, the Earth will be hit by the prophesied Wormwood of Revelation 8:10-11. And there is no way that Wormwood can hit for years.

But it very well may hit in or by 2031.

We in the Continuing Church of God “have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place” (2 Peter 1:19, KJV).

And we have the sure word because we believe what the Bible teaches and not opinions of humans that do not agree with the Bible.
