And that there are many older writings that indicate that Barack Hussein Obama may set the United States up for utter destruction?
This article will attempt to address external and biblical prophecies that may apply to Barack Hussein Obama.
Barack Obama: His Background, Birth, and Kenyan Prophecies
Senator Barack Hussein Obama had a father who was a Luo Kenyan and a mother who was part Caucasian and part American Indian.
As few in the USA would be highly familiar with the Luo, here is some information on the Luo and their religion from a couple of different sources:
The Luo (also called Jaluo and Joluo) are an ethnic group in Kenya, eastern Uganda, and northern Tanzania. They are part of a larger group of ethnolinguistically related Luo peoples who inhabit an area including southern Sudan, northern and eastern Uganda, western Kenya, and northern Tanzania…

Luo… Throughout the nineteenth century AD , the Luo migrated into the area they now occupy in Kenya. They left lower savanna grasslands for higher and cooler regions with reliable rainfall…
LOCATION According to the last national population census conducted in 1989, the Luo number over 3 million people, or about 13 percent of Kenya’s total population…
For example, the Nomiya Luo Church, which started in 1912, was the first independent church in Kenya. The founder of this church, Johanwa Owalo, is believed to be a prophet similar to Jesus Christ and Muhammad. Owalo later teamed up with a Catholic priest and began teaching a new theology that rejected both the Pope and the doctrine of the trinity (Luo. Hence, there apparently is a Luo religion in Kenya, and there was one associated with it named Johanwa Owalo who made some prophecies. And Barack Obama is considered, by Wikipedia at least, to be a Luo.
His first name, however, is Hebrew:

While Obama is apparently a Luo Kenyan word, if it originally came from Hebrew, it most likely would have come from the word "Bama" (I have read, but not verified, that the Latin "O" is sometimes used in Hebrew as a conjunction such as meaning "and"):

So, combining the definitions above, the name Baraq Hussein Bama would essentially mean the Handsome Timid Gleam and Son of Prophecy.
Now, there is claimed to be a 1912 prophecy by Johanwa Owalo, the founder of Kenya’s Nomiya Luo Church, about the United States:
“So far have they [the United States] strayed into wickedness in those [future] times that their destruction has been sealed by my [father]. Their great cities will burn, their crops and cattle will suffer disease and death, their children will perish from diseases never seen upon this Earth, and I reveal to you the greatest [mystery] of all as I have been allowed to see that their [the United States] destruction will come about through the vengeful hands of one of our very own sons.” (for more details, please see Barack Obama, Prophecy, and the Destruction of the United States).
Since Barack Obama's father is ethnically a Luo of Kenya (see Kenya Rejoices as Obama Wins), Barack Obama seems to meet the criteria above as being "one of our our very sons". Some think this is contains specific Barack Obama predictions.
Thus, in a several senses, Barack Obama may be at least a "son of prophecy". Thus, even the name Barack Obama and prophecy seem to be linked to a degree (more on that is later in this article, see also Barack Obama in Islamic Prophecy?).
While I believe that Barack Obama is basically a sincere and well-meaning individual, I believe that since he may be the last (and certainly one of the last) USA presidents, he will somewhat fulfill certain end time prophecies (and I also felt that John McCain would help fulfill some if he was elected, see the older news item US Election Tomorrow: Pray & Fast).
Barack Obama and Bible Prophecy
What about Barack Obama and biblical prophecy?
Well, by virtue of his timing, Barack Obama will likely fulfill many biblical prophecies, or at least implement policies for many prophecies to be fulfilled.
Irrespective of possible Kenyan prophecies, the Bible itself warns that if the descendants of Israel sinned and did not repent, the following would happen:
43 The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower (Deuteronomy 28:43).
12 As for My people, children are their oppressors, And women rule over them. O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths.” (Isaiah 3:12)
16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).
And while I do not doubt that Barack Obama is an American citizen (see Obama’s Citizenship?), because Barack Obama's father is Luo Kenyan, his mother is at least part Native American, AND because he was partially raised in Indonesia (a Muslim nation), in several ways he could be perceived as an alien. Hence, the biblical prophecy in Deuteronomy 28:43 MIGHT apply to Barack Obama (and it does also have multiple applications). But, because of his timing, I believe that the last two prophecies above will be partially fulfilled by him and as well as other end time leaders.
The end of the 6000 years God has granted humanity to rule itself will likely be over in the next decade (see Does God Have a 6,000 Year Plan? What Year Does the 6,000 Years End?). Thus, simply by the virtue of his timing, Barack Obama is destined to aid in the fulfillment of end time biblical prophecies.
Additionally, one of the first things that Barack Obama has done as USA president is signing into to a law a bill that will greatly increase the debt of the USA. He has also indicated that he will need to pursue policies that will increase that debt during at least his first administration. However, the Bible warns about a nation that will increase its debt in the end time:
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry...
6 "Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, 'Woe to him who increases
What is not his--how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges'? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. 8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you (Habakkuk 2:3,6-8).
Hence, Barack Obama seems to currently be fulfilling the part of that prophecy of increasing pledges/debt. And, of course, it is possible that the rest of the above prophecy will be fulfilled while he is USA president (to learn what is prophesied to happen to the USA, please see Anglo - America in Prophecy).
Furthermore, the Bible predicts the rise at the appointed time of the end of a King of the North and a King of the South. Various statements that Barack Obama has made suggest that he will implement policies that will likely help lead to their formations (see also Barack Obama in Islamic Prophecy?).
Perhaps it should be mentioned that while many American evangelicals believe that they will be part of a pre-tribulation rapture (and presumably miss the punishments that this world will experience in the end), this is not what the Bible teaches (Is There A Secret Rapture for the Church? When and Where is the Church Protected?).
There are many Bible prophecies that show what appears to be the destruction of the United States and its Anglo-allies (see Anglo - America in Prophecy). And as the USA increases debt and strains its military, the destructive end time prophecies are getting closer to final fulfillment.
Barack Obama and the Prophecies of Nostradamus and Malachy
Might Nostradamus have referred to Barack Obama?
And while many Catholics distance themselves from his writing, Nostradamus was a Catholic. One Catholic writer wrote:
Nostradamus...A member of the third order of St. Francis, he enjoyed the friendship of Pope Pius IV. He was a devout Catholic all his life...Nostradamus was an authentic seer (Dupont, Yves. Catholic Prophecy: The Coming Chastisement. TAN Books, Rockford (IL), 1973, p. 93).
However, with the advent of the internet, some so-called predictions of Nostradamus that have popped-up this year may be later inventions.
There are three prophecies attributed to Nostradamus in this section, the latter two are truly from Nostradamus, but the first one may be a modern invention.
There is a satirical source called the Daily Squib (a "squib" is a brief satirical or witty piece of writing or speech, like a lampoon, though the following article seems to have been accepted as true by some) that posted the following, which seems to be a hoax:
WASHINGTON DC - USA - Scholars for the Smithsonian Institute have uncovered new interpretations that may relate to Barack Obama, the Illinois senator vying to become the next US president.
Professor Eugene Randell, Deputy Director of the Smithsonian Institution Archives has released information pertaining to the up and coming US elections. The Institute which holds some very rare Nostradamus manuscripts, believes that some of the quatrains written by the 16th century soothsayer are very close to describing the fight for the White House that is happening now.
"We have the only existing fourth edition of Nostradamus' book Les Propheties (The Prophecies). There were thought to be only three editions published in 1558, this new edition is from 1559 and includes 20 more quatrains which have never been revealed before -- that is, until now," Professor Randell said from the archive office on Tuesday.
Nostradamus has been credited with predicting numerous events in world history, from the Great Fire of London, the rise of Napoleon I of France, the French Revolution and Adolf Hitler, to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.
The professor told the Daily Squib that it is well known that some of the quatrains are open to interpretation however what he has translated from the previously unreleased manuscript will certainly "ruffle a few feathers".

I need to add that I have many reasons to doubt that this account is true. My attempts to verify that there is such a professor named Eugene Randell at the Smithsonian have been fruitless. One source I found on the web states that the above is a hoax, while another claims that the Smithsonian denied it to him in writing. Furthermore, if a previously unknown 20 quatrains were actually released by the Smithsonian, then I believe that other news sources would have picked it up as Nostradamus predictions are often covered by even the normal media. Additionally, although the Daily Squib is on the internet, the only references to '"Andrew Olsen" Squib' on a Google search as of 11/29/08 is the above article--hence even Andrew Olsen seems to be possibly invented-plus that is the only article within the Daily Squib website that comes up with the name Andrew Olsen. I also contacted the Daily Squib twice to see if they would stand behind their story and they have thus far failed to respond to my inquiries.
And while "Quatrain 243" may be an invented fraud, the following (which is Quatrain 50) truly is from Nostradamus, with the Comment from a Catholic writer:
Under the sign of Libra, America shall reign, Shall hold power in the sky and on land, Shall never perish under Asian forces, Until seven Pontificates have passed. (Yves Dupont, p.94)
Comment: As a great world power, the U.S.A. began its "reign" during the first World War--but it was not the greatest world power; in 1918, that was France. In 1945, however, the U.S.A. was, by and large, the greatest world power. I think it is from the reign of Pius XII that the seven Pontificates must be counted, and this brings us to the last Pope according to St. Malachy's list--when the world will end. (comment is from the Catholic writer Y. Dupont personally in 1973, p.94)
It appears that the above private Catholic prophecies suggests that the end of the USA will thus be in the 21st century. And as far as Asian forces go, this could be interpreted to include terrorists from places like Afghanistan, Pakistan, and others parts of Asia. Barack Obama has repeatedly pledged to increase US military action in Afghanistan. Notice one item from the Associated Press:
Obama wants to step up the U.S. fight against terrorism in Afghanistan.
The United States has some 32,000 soldiers in Afghanistan. Obama has said he plans to add about 7,000 or 8,000 troops to the NATO mission there next year. (French FM airs doubt about Obama's Afghan plan (November 23, 2008. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5h6NmUjjd3zKDic6BNo5qmmr4TlKwD94KT7AO2).
Getting back to Y. Dupont's comments, it needs to be mentioned that there is only one pope left on the Malachy list. Some Catholics suspect that this could be an antipope (for specific Catholic private prophecies which could be about him and the current pope, please see One More Pope?), who could be the Antichrist. Now although I am fairly sure that Y. Dupont was French and translated for his book, there is another translation of Quatrain 50 that perhaps should be shown as it implies something a little bit different:
Libra will see the western lands (America) to govern,
Holding the rule over the skies and the earth
No one will see the forces of Asia destroyed
Until seven hold the hierarchy in succession.
Comment by Indian writer who then cites Quatrain 74: The "seven" are the seven millennia in Nostradamus' calculations which end in A.D. 2000, which also links this quatrain to the quatrain below:
The year the great seventh number is accomplished
Appearing at the time of the games of slaughter,
Not far from the age of the great millennium (2000)
When the dead will come out of their graves.

Now the above suggests that the forces of Asia will not be destroyed until the "seven hold the hierarchy in succession". This would essentially suggest that during the time of the seventh and potentially last pope (who may take over the pontificate while Barack Obama is in office) that Asian forces will be destroyed. And while the United States would be destroyed before massive Asian forces are destroyed, the Bible does warn that the "kings of the east" will come together at Armageddon (Revelation 16:12-16) and that a 200,000,000 man army will be destroyed (Revelation 9:13-20; 16:16)--this is also discussed in the article Asia in Prophecy.
Irrespective of which of the translations of Quatrain 50 is more accurate (it is difficult for even modern translators of French to properly translate Nostradamus' writings into English because of the form of French he tended to use as I discovered when I contacted one about this a year or two ago), the fact is that if Y. Dupont is correct about the seven being popes until the last one on the Malachy prophecy list, then it is possible that Barack Obama may be the last leader of the America to govern before the end. And if the Indian writer is correct that the seven times refers to the end coming in this millennium, while this does not point towards Barack Obama as directly, it does not preclude it including him.
If Barack Obama is re-elected and survives in office, then he would remain US president until January 19, 2017. Since the current Pope Benedict XVI was born on 16 April 1927, he would be 89 3/4 then if he remains alive--and while he may, it seems a bit more likely that the next pope (the final one on the Malachy list) will be in place before Barack Obama would leave his office.
And IF that pope is the antipope (please see One More Pope?), the final Antichrist, then the following one of Nostradamus' writings may apply to Barack Obama (perhaps the "Reb" below), shown in the original French followed by an English translation:

The chief of London through the realm of America,
The Isle of Scotland will be tried by frost:
King and "Reb" will face an Antichrist so false,
That he will place them in the conflict all together.
The above Quatrain 66 suggests that the leader of the United Kingdom (chief of London and involving Scotland), probably called the "King", will be influenced by the realm of America, with the leader called "Reb" (America rebelled against England in 1776) and will encounter an Antichrist that will ultimately place them into conflict. So there appear to be at least two quatrains from Nostradamus that seem to point to Barack Obama (while the one most commonly looked at on the web is apparently a hoax).
And while we should not rely on non-biblical prophecies, it is possible that Satan or his agents influenced some of them (as even the demons know about prophecy, Matthew 4:5-9; 8:29), as the Bible indicates that probably sometime next decade the Anglo-American powers will be destroyed and that Antichrist will rise up.
Perhaps I should add here that various private Catholic prophecies point to the destruction of the English peoples (which apparently includes Americans) at the time of the end by one they often referred to as "the Great Monarch:
Saint Cataldus of Tarentino (c. 500): "The Great Monarch will be in war till he is forty years of age....he will assemble great armies and expel tyrants from his empire. He will conquer England and other island empires" (Connor, Edward. Prophecy for Today. Imprimatur + A.J. Willinger, Bishop of Monterey-Fresno; Reprint: Tan Books and Publishers, Rockford (IL), 1984, p.30).
Saint Edward (d. 1066) “The extreme corruption and wickedness of the English nation has provoked the just anger of God. When malice shall have reached the fullness of its measure, God will, in His wrath, send to the English people wicked spirits, who will punish and afflict them with great severity…” (Culleton, R. Gerald. The Prophets and Our Times. Nihil Obstat: L. Arvin. Imprimatur: Philip G. Scher, Bishop of Monterey-Fresno, November 15, 1941. Reprint 1974, TAN Books, Rockford (IL), p. 137).
It has been foretold in 597, by ST. Columbkille..."... The English shall dwindle into disreputable people and shall forever be derived of power" (Culligan, E. The Last World War and the End of Time. The book was blessed by Pope Paul VI, 1966. TAN Books, Rockford (IL), pp. 118-119).
Mother Shipton (d. 1551) “... York shall be London and the Kingdom governed by three Lords appointed by a Royal Great monarch…who will set England right and drive out heresy (Culleton, p. 163).
Werdin d' Otrante (13th century): "The Great Monarch and the Great Pope will precede Antichrist...All the sects will vanish. The capital of the world will fall..." (Connor, p. 33)
It should be noted that there was no nation called England when most of the above were written, hence, it is likely that they were referring to the Anglo-derived peoples (from hence came the name England), and thus may be referring to the United States as "England" and the UK, Australia, and New Zealand as the "other island empires".
Now, if one presumes, that at least in a sense, that Washington, D.C. is the capital of the world, then these prophesies could be fulfilled with Barack Obama as president (more on the identity of the USA in prophecy, as well as additional Catholic private prophecies that may refer to it, are in the article Anglo - America in Prophecy).
Is Barack Obama the Antichrist?
No. Because the final Antichrist is a religious (as opposed to primarily political) leader, that Barack Obama is not the final Antichrist (for the scriptures, please see Barack Obama is Not the Antichrist)--however, because of his timing and his stated policies it is likely that he will (most likely inadvertently) support the rise of the prophesied King of the North, the King of the South, and (most likely indirectly) the final Antichrist.
However, many on the internet have given a variety of reasons why they feel that he is, so here I will address eight claims that supposedly indicate that Barack Obama is the Antichrist, and briefly explain why each of them are in error.
CLAIM 1. Charismatic Speaker Worshipped By The Masses. The Book of Daniel says the Beast will arise in a country made up of "diverse" people from "all kingdoms" [which could describe the USA]... The worldwide masses will worship the charismatic Beast/Antichrist who will have a "mouth speaking great things." Revelation 13:3-8.
The charismatic Barack is conceited and a great orator who speaks of change and peace. He is worshipped throughout the world including in the European Union -- the successor to the Roman Empire. Germany's Der Spiegel magazine wrote in July 2008: "He wants to lay claim to become the president of the world."
CLAIM 2. False Prophets. The advent of the Antichrist will be heralded by false prophets. Jeremiah Wright and Father Pfleger, who claim to be in the prophetic tradition, compared Barack to Jesus. Louis Farrakhan called Barack "the Messiah" to whom the youth will listen.
Actually, the Bible teaches that one called the false prophet will do miracles and cause people to worship the image of the Beast Revelation 16:13-14; 13:12-15). Neither Jeremiah Wright not the other two mentioned above has thus far qualified according to the Bible.
CLAIM 3. 666. 6+6+6=18, the number of letters in Barack Hussein Obama, whose Chicago power base includes the 60606 zip code.
On November 5 -- the day after the election -- in Obama's home state of Illinois -- the evening pick 3 lottery number was 6-6-6.
The Bible says that the number is six hundred sixty and six, hence none of the above qualifies (see also Is Barack Obama 666?).
CLAIM 4. Satanic Palindrome. Sasha is only the nickname of Obama's oldest daughter. Her legal name is NATASHA -- the reverse of AH SATAN.
Natasha is the Russian version of the name Natalie. It is a female given name: from a Latin word meaning “birthday.” And even though we in the Living Church of God do not celebrate birthdays, those who claim that his daughter's name and putting it backwards has something to do with Antichrist is a low blow.
CLAIM 5. 2012. According to Revelation 13:5, the Beast/Antichrist will rule for 42 months of relative peace and prosperity before...the middle of the fourth year of his reign, culminating in the Battle of Armageddon.
The fourth year of Barack's presidency will be 2012, the year the Mayan calendar comes to an end, the year of a rare planetary alignment, and a year that scholars say Nostradamus foresaw as tumultuous.
While Barack Obama should be USA president in 2012, according to the Bible the world will NOT be destroyed by a flood as some believe that the Mayan 2012 prophecies show. Most have misunderstood the real significance of the Mayan and possible Nostradamus prophecies related to 2012--which are discussed in some detail, including Barak Obama's possible role, in the article End of Mayan Calendar 2012–Might 2012 Mean Something?
CLAIM 6. Shiite Islamic Prophecy Of "A Tall Black Man" Running The West. According to a 17th Century prophetic text of the Shiite branch of Islam, the return of the Mahdi, the Islamic messiah, in the End of Times will be preceded by "a tall black man" running "government in the West" and commanding "the strongest army on earth." The black "promised warrior" will carry a "clear sign" from Hussein ibn Ali (the third imam) and will assist the Mahdi in converting the world to Islam. The Iranian media have identified Obama as the "promised warrior."
The Shi'ite prophecy might be referring to Barack Obama, but it shows that the leader assists in the rise of the Islamic Madhi--who is highly likely to be the King of the South. The Bible clearly shows, however, that the King of the South is defeated by King of the North (Daniel 11:40-43), thus Islam is NOT the religion of the final Antichrist. Hence the idea that Barack Obama will help the world become Islamic is not correct--but there is likely some truth in the idea that Barack Obama might enable the one who will become the final King of the South (as well as the King of the North)--see also Barack Obama in Islamic Prophecy?
CLALM 7. New Nostradamus Quatrains Scholars for the Smithsonian Institute have uncovered new interpretations that may relate to Barack Obama, the Illinois senator vying to become the next US president.

As mentioned earlier, the above story (though popular on the internet) is a hoax. There does not appear to have ever been a Professor Eugene Randell who was Deputy Director of the Smithsonian Institution Archives; nor this new quatrain 243. The publisher of the above also would not verify its story even after I made two requests (see Obama Nostradamus Hoax).
CLAIM 8. Fulfilled Daniel 9:27. Very early in the morning, on Thanksgiving Day, I could not get back to sleep. This is unusual for me, but the Lord has been urging me to listen for his voice when this happens...I was very, very confident that the Lord was giving me a BRAND NEW REVELATION, further confirmation that on OCT. 29, 2008, OBAMA CONFIRMED THE COVENANT OF DANIEL 9:27, thrusting the world into the Final Seven Years...The Lord had called me to be a watchman many years ago...We have in circulation almost 10,000,000 tracts....2520 days (360 days X 7 Jewish years), after the 30 MINUTES OF SILENCE IN HEAVEN on Oct. 29, 2008, is Feast of Atonement. This is by divine design, not happenstance, or coincidence. On Feast of Atonement, especially in 2015, when the armies of the world will be surrounding the Jews in Israel preparing for the Battle of Armageddon, the Jews will be setting up animal sacrifices, attempting to ATONE for their sins for the past year...There may be a peace treaty with Israel and the Antichrist in the near future, but it will NOT be 7 years in length and it will NOT be the fulfillment of Daniel 9:27. THE FULFILLMENT OF DANIEL 9:27 HAS ALREADY HAPPENED ON OCT. 29, 2008, WITH THE CONFIRMING OF THE COVENANT. Contrary to claims and visions, the deal in Daniel 9;27 has not been made. The deal will be made by a European, not an American, as even most Protestant commentators recognize. This deal still needs to be made (for details, see Can the Great Tribulation Begin in 2009, 2010, or 2011?).
Of course, as I wrote much earlier, the final Antichrist is primarily a religious and NOT a political figure according to the Bible (see Barack Obama is Not the Antichrist), thus Barack Obama is NOT the final Antichrist.
However, his charismatic style may very well be copied by the future final Beast leader of Revelation 13, who is the final King of the North of Daniel 11. And Barack Obama may help enable the rise of him as well as the future King of the South.
Will Barack Obama Be Converted in the Spring of 2010?
One named Kim Clement allegedly prophesied the following in Memphis, Tennessee on October 26, 2009:
"For there has been a scheme and a plan against the President of this nation, to suffocate him." God says, "The enemy has planned in 2010 to bring shame to the first African President. So that they will say, 'Never again shall an African American be the President of the United States.' This will not happen," says the Lord. "This will not happen. This will not happen.
"There shall come a change in the early part of 2010 and many will say, 'Look, things are not quite as bad as what it seemed,' and those who have murmured and those who have spoken evil, those who have spread words out to bring shame to this race will not be satisfied."...
God says, "Your President shall have a great conversion in 2010 which will bring about changes to this nation and because I have spoken.
"Your prayers and your praise shall bring about a change in the atmosphere; your praise and your shouts bring about a change, for you don't understand the significance of these sounds. Now, while it is always possible that the USA President could convert, I absolutely do not accept the aforementioned "prophecy" as true for many reasons. So, once again I will go on record and state in advance that I do not believe that the one who made this claim is God's prophet.
Perhaps I should also mention that Barack Obama already claims to be a "Christian" of the Greco-Roman sort and that he already was "converted".
Barack Obama and the Shiite Prediction of a Black Leader Leading to the Rise of the Mahdi
There is an amazing old Shiite prophecy that seems to fit Barack Hussein Obama personally. Notice what Forbes' writer Amir Taheri reported:

Since we are near the end of times and Barack Hussein Obama is considered to be black and he now the new "ruler in the West" and he now leads the" strongest army on earth", it makes sense that a lot of Shiite Muslims apparently believe that he may fit that Islamic prophecy.

Regardless of where it came from, is that a specific Barack Obama prophecy?
That is difficult to know for certain, other than to say that some Shiites seem to believe that their writings have Barack Hussein Obama in prophecy (others have challenged the integrity of Amir Taheri's writings).
And the fact that his name also seems to closely fit that prophecy suggests that he may. And while in I do not believe that Barack Hussein Obama himself believes that "he is with us" (as "o bama" apparently means in Persian) refers to him in that prophecy, the fact is that no other USA president has ever been as close to Muslims as President Obama.
Now, it needs to be made clear that the Bible predicts the rise in the end time of a Future King of the South--and this person may be the one that Muslims will consider to be their prophesied "Mahdi".
And while I have not read the actual Shiite prophecy (and do not read Persian nor Arabic), and hence do not know if it is possible (or even likely) that Barack Obama will meet all the criteria of that prophecy (or if reports on it are entirely accurate), I do believe that if Barack Hussein Obama is the President of the United States until 2013-2017, that his administration will help (most likely inadvertently) lead to the rise of the Future King of the South mentioned in end time prophecy.
Is Barack Obama Muslim?
Many have wondered, "Is Barack Obama Muslim?"
No, not if one needs to proclaim Islam to be one. Barack Obama's personal religion is not Islam. Here is what his "Fight the Smears" website claims:

While I do not believe that he is committed to true Christianity, Barack Obama is not a secret Muslim. Hence, in that sense I do not believe he will fit prophecies that indicate that a committed Muslim will do anything. Yet, however, some have argued that since his father was considered as a Muslim, that Barack Obama is considered to be one too by birth, even if he never embraced Islam. Thus, in that sense he may be considered as some as a Muslim.
What religion is Barack Obama?
Barack Obama seems to be a supporter of a Constantinian religion (comes out of the Greco-Roman tradition, not the Church of God) which claims Christ. Though, he does not seem to be highly involved with it. For example, in the first few weeks after the election, he has not attended any church service according to an AP story (Obama skips church, heads to gym. November 23, 2008)--but I suspect that he will change that so publicly people will think he is an active church-goer.
However, because his religion is of the Constantinian variety, Barack Obama will likely not understand end-time prophecies and this will lead him to be more accommodating to the rise of the Beast than one who understands end-time prophecy would likely be.
Is Barack Obama a Muslim sympathizer?
The answer to that question is unclear. But, since he did grow up in Muslim Indonesia and had more early Muslim contacts than anyone else ever elected as President of the United States, he would probably have more reasons than most U.S. presidents to have sympathy for Muslim perspectives. Here is some of what Barack Obama's "Fight the Smears" website quotes about this:

Thus, while the selected quotes seem to have been intended by the Obama campaign to minimize his ties to Islam, Barack Obama had more early ties to Islam than any ever elected to becoming President of the United States. He also repeated his full name, Barack Hussein Obama, the 2 times I heard him on his inauguration as USA president.
But irrespective of that, it seems that his policies may lead to greater cooperation between the Arabic and non-Arabic Muslim nations which at some point in time must end up with a leader (which the Shiites call a Mahdi) that the Bible shows will be the Future King of the South.

So, Barack Obama has signaled that he is taking a somewhat more inclusive approach with Islamic peoples than any prior US president.
Barack Obama and 2012 Predictions
Are there Barack Obama prophecies related to 2012? There have been a lot of concerns about Barack Obama as there are some non-biblical prophecies, and even one biblical prophecy, some have claimed are related to him.
But what does anything about Barack Obama have to do with 2012?
First of all, presuming he remains in office, Barack Obama will be the president of the United States in 2012.
Secondly, while I believe that according to Bible prophecy that the end of the 6000 years for humanity to rule itself cutoff from God is almost over (Does God Have a 6,000 Year Plan? What Year Does the 6,000 Years End?), that presuming that Barack Obama is re-elected and because the Great Tribulation may begin within a few years after 2012, that Barack Obama will possibly be the final leader of the United States of America.
And even if he is not the last president (a Republican could get elected that could chill US/EU relations), it is likely that his presidency will set the stage for the rising of the prophesied King of the South as well as for the rising of the prophesied King of the North, and the ultimate bankrupting and finally utter destruction of the United States of America and its Anglo-allies (please see Anglo - America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel).
Apparently because of his stance on abortion and cultural issues, in November 2008, a Catholic Cardinal claimed that Barack Obama was "aggressive, disruptive and apocalyptic" (see Cardinal: Obama Apocalyptic).
How may Barack Obama be “apocalyptic”? Here are 8 possible ways, eight reasons why:
The timing of his election. It may be that there are only two presidential terms left before the Great Tribulation (Does God Have a 6,000 Year Plan? What Year Does the 6,000 Years End?) and the fulfillment of related prophecies in the Book of Revelation (called the Apocalypse by most Catholics). Barack Obama’s very presence (as well as his planned and unplanned actions) should be enough to enable the fulfillment of various end-time prophecies.
As one with a Luo Kenyan father, Barack Obama (see also Kenya Rejoices as Obama Wins) may be part of the fulfillment of Deuteronomy 28:43.
Since the Roe vs. Wade pro-abortion decision, the USA has became the greatest debtor nation in the history of humankind. Since the USA owes alien nations trillions of dollars, it appears that the curse in Deuteronomy 28:44 of having to borrow from aliens is happening to it now. President Barack Obama has put forth economic policies that will increase that debt (see
President Obama Forgot the Bible). Yet, the Bible specifically warns that increasing national debt like this will lead to destruction at the appointed time of the end in Habakkuk 2:3,6-8 (see also Anglo - America in Prophecy).
One of the first actual changes that Barack Obama implemented was reversing one or more executive orders that will likely lead to more abortions (see
Obama’s Abortion Changes). Yet, abortion is wrong (see Abortion, the Bible, and a Woman’s Right to Choose) and a terrible national sin. And on March 9, 2009 lifted a ban on embryonic stem cell research (see
LCG on Stem Cells) another morally wrong sin.
To a great degree, women put him in power (see Women Chose Barack Obama). The Bible specifically warns about women ruling over a nation (Isaiah 3:12). The highest cabinet post in Barack Obama’s administration went to Hillary Clinton. Two of his top economic advisors are also women (see Obama Picks Two More Women). Barack Obama will also often need to heed the advice of Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the US House of Representatives (who has been criticized for her pro-abortion stance, see Vatican Official Says No to Biden and Pelosi, But Not to Palin). The only person in the Bible named "Barak" relied to heavily upon women (cf. Judges 4:4-9).
In a policy shift from past administrations, Barack Obama has pledged increased cooperation with the Europeans, including strengthening their defense (see
Obama Proving Apocalyptic). This cooperation is likely to lead to the rise of the prophesied King of the North, who is to be the final leader of the Beast of Revelation.
Barack Obama has called for increased dialogue with those considered as enemies of the USA. Even some Shiite Muslims believe that his presidency may lead to the rise of their Mahdi (see Barack Obama in Islamic Prophecy?), who seems to be the same person that the Bible calls the King of the South.
An increase of military action in Afghanistan, which candidate Barack Obama continually called for, may stretch USA military commitments. Because of domestic economic concerns and international pressures, Barack Obama is likely to shift priorities away from defense spending and encourage the Europeans to increase their military might. This will help lead to the destruction of the United States, when the Europeans are ready and the USA is not.
The truth is that Barack Obama seems well meaning and he is trying to encourage the Americans to back him as he works on his economic agenda. Americans are so concerned about the economy that most do not care that the policies that Barack Obama implemented within his first week of office will result in more abortions and other sins in this nation.
1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:1-4).
Without national repentance, the United States is doomed for destruction. The focus needs to be on turning to the God of the Bible and not simply on the hope that President Obama will somehow stave off economic disaster for 4-8 years while ignoring the nation’s sins.
But irrespective of what he does or does not do, because of the timing of his presidency, it appears that (probably inadvertently) Barack Obama will help set the stage for the ecumenical King of the North, the Muslim King of the South, and even (though more indirectly) the final ecumenical one known as Antichrist.
