Blood Moons, Eclipses, and Prophecy

Blood Moon

By COGwriter

Blood moons and eclipses. They were in the news for a while, promoted by Mark Biltz, and the subject of a book by Protestant Pastor John Hagee. As well as something by Jonathan Cahn.

What are blood moons? What can cause them? What does the Bible teach about them? What about Jewish teachings? Does NASA predict any blood moons?

Will there be a major blood moon that is a sign from God? What about the 'rapture'?

This article will answer those questions and more. (Two related YouTube videos are also available: Blood Moons, Prophecy, 2014, and 2015 and Solar Eclipse and the Apocalypse.)

Note: This article was updated after the fourth blood moon of the 2014/2015 timeframe, with most of the original information left in place. Everything I wrote about blood moons was right when I first wrote this article in 2013 as it was those who misunderstood the Bible that made inaccurate and impossible claims about blood moons. I added information in 2017 and 2018 as Mark Biltz (and others) began to promote more error related to signs in the heavens.

The major blood moon for late July 2018, like the earlier ones, did NOT have biblical significance. Nor did the 'super wolf blood moon' for 2019. Nor what happened in 2022. Nor what some predicted for 2024.

What are Blood Moons?

What is a blood moon?

The science of the “blood moon” phenomenon is fairly simple. It is created by a partial lunar eclipse. When the Earth’s shadow covers the moon completely, we get a total eclipse. A partial lunar eclipse happens when the Earth’s shadow covers the moon only partially. The earth atmosphere bends light around its edge, and scatters out shorter-wavelength light (green through violet), leaving longer-wavelength light (red, orange, and yellow) in the Earth’s shadow. This is also why sunsets and sunrises generally appear red. As is the case with most miraculous events that can be explained scientifically, the miracle is not in the natural phenomenon, but rather in its timing. (Yanover Y. Messianic 'Blood Moon" Rising on Passover Seder Night. Jewish Press. http://www.jewishpress.com/news/breaking-news/messianic-blood-moon-rising-on-passover-seder/2013/10/06 viewed 10/07/13)

A blood moon is also called a Hunter's Moon. It is the first full moon after Harvest Moon. The Harvest Moon is the full moon nearest to the autumnal equinox. (What is a blood moon? http://answers.ask.com/Society/Ethnicity/what_is_a_blood_moon viewed 10/08/13)

A Blood Moon is when a total lunar eclipse makes the moon appear red. (What is a blood moon? http://www.chacha.com/question/what-is-a-blood-moon#sthash.CACJZ0Wd.dpuf viewed 10/08/13

Basically the general definition of a 'blood moon' is when the moon appears reddish because of how light can appear.

Lunar eclipses are not the only cause. Notice the following:

There are few situations that can cause a red moon. The most common way to see the Moon turn red is when the Moon is low in the sky, just after moonrise or before it’s about to set below the horizon. Just like the Sun, light from the Moon has to pass through a larger amount of atmosphere when it’s down near the horizon, compared to when it’s overhead. The Earth’s atmosphere can scatter sunlight, and since moonlight is just scattered sunlight, it can scatter that too. Red light can pass through the atmosphere and not get scattered much, while light at the blue end of the spectrum is more easily scattered. When you see a red moon, you’re seeing the red light that wasn’t scattered, but the blue and green light have been scattered away. That’s why the Moon looks red.

The second reason for a red moon is if there’s some kind of particle in the air...

A third – and dramatic – way to get a red moon is during a lunar eclipse. During a lunar eclipse, the Moon passes behind the Earth’s shadow, which darkens it. If you could take a look at the Earth from inside its shadow, you would see that the atmosphere around the edge of the entire planet glows red. (Cain F. Red Moon. Universe Today, October 23, 2008. http://www.universetoday.com/19969/red-moon/ viewed 10/09/13)

And I would add here that God can cause the moon to appear as blood in other ways.

NASA and Blood Moons

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has reported about 'blood moons' in the past.

Here is something I found at NASA's website years ago (NASA's websites were not available for parts of October 2013 because of problems blamed on the government "shutdown" then):

When four consecutive lunar eclipses are all total eclipses, the group is known as a tetrad. The following tetrads occur during this century:

Tetrad (Four Consecutive Total Eclipses): 2003 - 2004
Tetrad (Four Consecutive Total Eclipses): 2014 - 2015
Tetrad (Four Consecutive Total Eclipses): 2032 - 2033
Tetrad (Four Consecutive Total Eclipses): 2043 - 2044
Tetrad (Four Consecutive Total Eclipses): 2050 - 2051
Tetrad (Four Consecutive Total Eclipses): 2061 - 2062
Tetrad (Four Consecutive Total Eclipses): 2072 - 2073
Tetrad (Four Consecutive Total Eclipses): 2090 - 2091 (http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/LEcat/LE2001-2100.html viewed 5/01/08)

The Bible does not allow for Jesus to return or the Day of the Lord to begin that soon -- 2022 is the earliest possible date (for details see When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?). Heavenly signs are shown to start years after the great tribulation begins (Matthew 24:29; Revelation 6:12-15; 8:5-12).

At this moment, it would appear that the prophecy in Revelation and Joel about the blood moon will NOT be related to any NASA blood moon prediction (unless NASA comes up with a different table or something else) or if Jesus' return is not until after 2032. The blood moon of biblical prophecy could be related to some natural phenomena that is unclear to scientists at this time or it could be a miracle from God--or it could be that God will affect some natural phenomena to make it happen.

As far as NASA and specific dates, its website for this was not functional the several times I tried, so the following is from other sources who claimed to have been to NASA's site:

NASA's website predicts a total lunar eclipse will occur on the 15th of April 2014. The Red Blood Moon eclipse falls on the Jewish Passover...(http://redmoonrapture.com/2014-2015/2014-passover-ecilpse.html viewed 10/09/13)

NASA's website predicts a total lunar eclipse known will occur on the 8th of October 2014. The Red Moon eclipse falls on the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles...(http://redmoonrapture.com/2014-2015/2014-tabernacles-eclipse.html viewed 10/09/13)

NASA's website predicts a total lunar eclipse will occur on the 4th of April 2015. The Red Moon eclipse coincides with the Jewish Passover holiday...(http://redmoonrapture.com/2014-2015/2015-passover-eclipse.html viewed 10/09/13)

NASA's website predicts a total lunar eclipse will occur on the 28th of September 2015. The Blood Moon lunar eclipse falls on the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles...(http://redmoonrapture.com/2014-2015/2015-tabernacles-eclipse.html viewed 10/09/13)

The dates related to Passover are late by a couple of days and not truly the biblical ones, but align with the Days of Unleavened Bread (see Holy Day Calendar). The Feast of Tabernacles dates are closer and occur during that time.

Here is information on the precise time for the last of the four blood moons for 2014/2015:

September 17, 2015

This month’s highly anticipated “supermoon eclipse” may be a magical treat for skywatchers, but there’s nothing supernatural about the event.

On Sept. 27, skywatchers throughout North and South America, Europe, Africa, western Asia and the eastern Pacific Ocean region will witness a total eclipse that happens to occur when the moon looks abnormally large and bright in Earth’s sky. It will be the first supermoon eclipse since 1982, and the last until 2033.

This rare celestial phenomenon has its roots in the moon’s elliptical orbit around Earth. …

“There’s no physical difference in the moon,” Petro said. “It just appears slightly bigger in the sky. It’s not dramatic, but it does look larger.” …

“It’s just planetary dynamics. The orbit of the moon around Earth is inclined to the axis of Earth, and the orbital plane of all these things just falls into place every once in a while,” Petro said. “When the rhythms line up, you might get three to four eclipses in a row, or a supermoon and an eclipse happening.”

The supermoon will begin to dim slightly at 8:11 p.m. EDT on Sept. 27 (0011 GMT on Sept. 28), NASA officials said. The total eclipse will start at 10:11 p.m. EDT (0211 GMT), and it will last 72 minutes.  http://news.discovery.com/space/astronomy/stunning-supermoon-eclipse-is-coming-150918.htm

And the above secular report is correct that the September 27/28 blood moon was NOT a supernatural sign.

The Bible and Blood Moons

The first time the Bible mentions blood and the moon together is in the Book of Joel as follows:

30 "And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth:
Blood and fire and pillars of smoke.
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. (Joel 2:30-31, NKJV throughout, unless otherwise specified)

The timeframe of the above is consistent with Matthew 24:29 which happens after the great tribulation as well as Revelation 8 which starts years after the great tribulation begins.

Some seem to think that the event in Joel is referring to normal "blood moons," others believe this is a more unique event.

The next time the Bible mentions blood and the moon together is in the Book of Acts, where the Apostle Peter states the following:

17 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams.
18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days;
And they shall prophesy.
19 I will show wonders in heaven above
And signs in the earth beneath:
Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.
21 And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the Lord
Shall be saved.' (Acts 2:17-21)

In the Book of Revelation we read:

12 I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. 13 And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. 14 Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. (Revelation 6:12-15)

The events involving the moon turning into blood are also tied into with the sun becoming black. While some seem to believe this is a reference to some type of normal eclipse, it would seem to be more than that. Notice that those occur after the sixth seal is opened, which is after the opening of the fifth seal (Revelation 6:9), which is the start of the Great Tribulation, which has not started yet and cannot start until at least 2028 (see also When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?).

The events mentioned above in Joel 2, Acts 2, and Revelation 6 are also similar to those Jesus discussed in Matthew 24. Notice:

29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (Matthew 24:29-31)

Some who believe in a "pre-tribulation rapture" have suggested that the moon turning into blood is a sign that Jesus is to return. And while Jesus will return, notice that the time period is AFTER the tribulation according to what Jesus taught. Notice also:

25 "And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near." (Luke 21:25-28)

Notice that there is also supposed to be roaring seas--I wrote before that this type of roaring sea would not happen in 2014 or 2015, nor, would it happen in 2019 nor 2020--as those dates were too early (cf. Revelation 16:12-16,18; see also Islands and Bible Prophecy).

Also, at least one has claimed that the crucifixion was tied to blood moons:

A series of 4 Red Blood Moon lunar eclipses occurred on the Jewish Passover and Feast of Tabernacles in 32 & 33 AD. Jesus personally witnessed the first 2 blood moon lunar eclipses in 32 AD. Christ descended into Hell just prior to the Jewish Passover partial lunar eclipse in 33 AD having just been crucified only a few hours before, and had all ready ascended to the father in Heaven by time of the 33 AD  Feast of Tabernacles blood moon partial lunar eclipse. (http://redmoonrapture.com/crucifixion.html viewed 10/09/13)

But as the crucifixion was not in 32 AD. (31 AD may be what works based upon the biblical calendar, accounts on information in the Gospels, etc., while 32 or 33 AD. does not; see also What Happened in the Crucifixion Week?), the above contains many claims that are in error.

Jewish Tradition and Lunar Eclipses and Blood Moons

Some are focused on the coming blood moons as they believe that they show something will come to pass, because of Jewish tradition and some historical events.

Here is something from the Talmud of Jewish traditions:

Succah 29a Our Rabbis taught, When the sun is in eclipse, it is a bad omen for the whole world. This may be illustrated by a parable. To what can this be compared? To a human being who made a banquet for his servants and put up for them a lamp. When he became wroth with them he said to his servant, ‘Take away the lamp from them, and let them sit in the dark’. It was taught: R. Meir said, Whenever the luminaries are in eclipse, it is a bad omen for Israel since they are inured to blows. This may be compared to a school teacher who comes to school with a strap in his hand. Who becomes apprehensive? He who is accustomed to be daily punished. Our Rabbis taught, When the sun is in eclipse it is a bad omen for idolaters; when the moon is in eclipse, it is a bad omen for Israel, since Israel reckons by the moon and idolaters by the sun. If it is in eclipse in the east, it is a bad omen for those who dwell in the east; if in the west, it is a bad omen for those who dwell in the west; if in the midst of heaven it is bad omen for the whole world. If its face is red as blood, [it is a sign that] the sword is coming to the world; if it is like sack-cloth, the arrows of famine are coming to the world; if it resembles both, the sword and the arrows of famine are coming to the world. If the eclipse is at sunset calamity will tarry in its coming; if at dawn, it hastens on its way: but some say the order is to be reversed. And there is no nation which is smitten that its gods are not smitten together with it, as it is said, And against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments. But when Israel fulfill the will of the Omnipresent, they need have no fear of all these [omens] as it is said, Thus saith the HaShem,’ Learn not the way of the nations, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven, for the nations are dismayed at them, the idolaters will be dismayed, but Israel will not be dismayed. Our Rabbis taught, On account of four things is the sun in eclipse: On account of an Ab Beth din who died and was not mourned fittingly; on account of a betrothed maiden who cried out aloud in the city and there was none to save her; on account of sodomy, and on account of two brothers whose blood was shed at the same time. And on account of four things are the luminaries in eclipse: On account of those who perpetrate forgeries, on account of those who give false witness; on account of those who rear small cattle in the land of Israel; and on account of those who cut down good trees.

Although this is a Jewish tradition, it needs to be understood that it is simply a tradition. Remember that Jesus sometimes chastised Jews who believed their traditions above what the Bible teaches:

9 He said to them, "All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition. (Mark 7:9)

Thus, Christians should be careful not to believe Jewish traditions or other teachings if they are in conflict with the Bible. There were not world wars or massive famines everytime there were certain eclipses, blood moon or not.

Some have claimed that because there was a blood moon in 1967 (and some other years) this shows that various events affecting the nation of Israel happen when there is a blood moon.

Now I am not disputing that events affecting the nation of Israel happened in 1967, as, for example, the 6 Day War is was an historical events. Yet, this does not mean that Jesus could return in 2014 or 2015 or that the Day of the Lord will begin in those years.

On the other hand, I did believe it was possible, if not likely, that we there could be significant events that affect the nation of Israel in 2014 or 2015.

The Coming Four Blood Moons By John Hagee

John C. Hagee is the founder and Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas.

In a December 2012 YouTube video titled Coming Four Blood Moons By John Hagee part 1, he showed expected 'blood moons' for Passover and Sukkoth (Feast of Tabernacles) to occur on them both each in 2014 and 2015.

After quoting Joel 2:30-31 and Acts 2:20, John Hagee stated "God... He is sending signals to planet earth, but we have not picked them up."

John Hagee said NASA has said it is coming, Joel and Peter said its coming, and that God is warning us with signs like the upcoming blood moons for 2014 and 2015.

Here is what his publisher has up at Amazon related to his book, Four Blood Moons Something is About to Change:

"...There will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars...Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near." Luke 21:25a, 28

It is rare that Scripture, science, and history align with each other, yet the last three series of Four Blood Moons have done exactly that. Are these the “signs” that God refers to in His Word? If they are, what do they mean? What is their prophetic significance?

In this riveting book, New York Times best-selling author, Pastor John Hagee, explores the supernatural connection of certain celestial events to biblical prophecy—and to the future of God’s chosen people and to the nations of the world.

Just as in biblical times, God is controlling the...

Here are some comments from a reviewer of John Hagee's book:

“Four Blood Moons: Something Is About To Change” uses scripture from the Bible, NASA data, and recorded history to conclude the end of the world – as we know it – might be right around the corner...

The first time it happened, in the year 1493, the four blood moons occurred on the Hebrew holidays of Passover and the Feast of Trumpets. Pastor Hagee writes, “This signified the beginning of the fall of Spain following the expulsion of the Jews a year earlier and was God’s announcement to the world that ‘the mantle of prosperity had thusly been placed on the shoulders of the infant nation that would become the United States’ since it became a refuge for the Jewish people.”

The second appearance of four blood moons appearing on Hebrew holy days was 1949-1950. They occurred on Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles and the next day Israel was declared a nation. The third time was in 1967-1968, when the Six-Day War took place, uniting the city of Jerusalem for the first time in 2,000 years, “a monumental prophetic event,” according to Hagee’s new book...

The world-renowned minister further states, “There are no solar or lunar accidents; every heavenly body is controlled by the unseen hand of God to send signals to humanity of coming events.”

Hagee is convinced God will use the blood moons to signal that He is getting ready to change the course of human history. “No one knows the mind of God but the anticipation of these events tells us something will happen.” (Exum R. Roy Exum: Rev. Hagee’s ‘Blood Moons’http://www.chattanoogan.com/2013/10/8/260792/Roy-Exum-Rev.-Hagees-Blood-Moons.aspx viewed 10/09/13)

John Hagee himself has claimed:

“I believe that the heavens are God’s billboard – that he has been sending signals to planet Earth and we just haven’t been picking them up,” Hagee told his San Antonio, Texas, congregation. “Today, with the help of God’s word and some very astute scientists, I’m going to walk you through 500 years (of four blood moons on Jewish feast days) and show you how God is literally screaming at the world: ‘I am coming soon.’”
(Anderson T. BILLY GRAHAM SOUNDS ALARM FOR 2ND COMING Famed evangelist sees signs 'converging now for the 1st time.' WND, October 20, 2013. at http://www.wnd.com/2013/10/billy-graham-sounds-alarm-for-2nd-coming/#xrvZphjE1EYzb7Ep.99 viewed 11/08/13)

Basically he is saying that Jesus is coming soon and these blood moons are trying to tell us something.

The Bible does not support that the occurrence of these blood moons are teaching that Jesus will return or the Day of the Lord start in 2015. How can I be so certain?

Because Jesus listed a variety of events that precede His return and the events of the sun and moon in Matthew 24, and they cannot happen prior to the end of 2015. Furthermore, the seven-year deal of Daniel 9:27 has not taken place as of the date I am writing this. Notice:

27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate. (Daniel 9:27)

Since this deal has not happened (see also The 'Peace Deal' of Daniel 9:27), there are at least seven years until Jesus return. Since the deal is to be broken in the middle of it, there is least 3 1/2 years before the start of the Great Tribulation (cf. Matthew 24:15-21; Daniel 11:31; for more details, please see When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?).

So, since Jesus would not come, the Great Tribulation not start, and the Day of the Lord not begin by 2015, some people may sadly point to people like John Hagee to attempt to prove that various prophecies will not come to pass. But, there is "a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed" (2 Peter 1:19, KJV)--it is just that neither John Hagee or Mark Biltz truly have it.

The Harbinger Author Jonathan Cahn

A Messianic Jewish Rabbi named Jonathan Cahn was interviewed by Pat Robertson on CBN on 02/05/2013).  Jonathan Cahn is probably most well know for a novel he wrote called The Harbinger.  He has since wrote other books and has indicated potential prophetic importance of blood moons in 2015.

He and Pat Robertson referred to the events of 9/11/2001 and tied them in with Isaiah 9:10 and the USA.  There may be ties.  I would like to quote this in Isaiah, but start with the verse before:

9 All the people will know —
Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria —
Who say in pride and arrogance of heart:
10 'The bricks have fallen down,
But we will rebuild with hewn stones;
The sycamores are cut down,
But we will replace them with cedars."  (Isaiah 9:9-10)

Essentially the leaders of ancient Ephraim and Manasseh declared that they would rebuild.  Jonathan Cahn stated that this seemed to be related to what happened in the USA because of the 9/11/2001 attack.

Jonathan Cahn then referred to statements by various US politicians that were consistent with the "we will rebuild" declaration.  The screen showed the following quote that then Senator Tom Daschle made to Congress on 9/12/2001 related to the 9/11/2001 attack:

We will rebuild, we will recover.

Jonathan Cahn and Pat Robinson said that this is what the leaders of ancient Israel said in Isaiah 9:10, but that God later punished them.  Jonathan Cahn then added that God later punished Israel and that God punished the USA with the economic crisis seven years later.

Now, I do agree that the Isaiah 9:10 statement has had a type of fulfillment by USA leaders.  I would take it a step further and specifically state that since certain prophecies about Samaria appear to be directed towards the USA of the 21st century (Isaiah 9 was and still is, quoted in my article Anglo - America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel), that this makes those ties stronger (Isaiah 9:9, that mentions Samaria, was not quoted in the interview; Isaiah 9:21 then seems to tie that to Manasseh, whose descendants have been important in the USA).

Jonathan Cahn, however, then took Isaiah 9:10 in a step or two in the wrong direction.  He said that since the ancient Septuagint (a sometimes corrupted translation of the Hebrew scriptures into the Greek language) specifically suggests that a 'tower' would be rebuilt and that something related to Babel was found at the 9/11 site, that this suggests the new tower built at 'ground zero' had connections to the Tower of Babel of Genesis 11:4.  If he was hinting that the USA is the representative of the end time Mystery Babylon the Great of Revelation 17 (which he seemed to possibly hint at), he is in error.  The Bible shows that Revelation 17 has to do with a seven-hilled city in Europe and its relationship with a Roman/European power there.

The interview screen later showed something that resembled two Power Point slides, apparently from Jonathan Cahn or one of his books.  The first had the following information:

PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE   2015 Sep 13

ELLUL 29   SEPTEMBER 13, 2015

GLOBAL COLLAPSE?

The second had the following information:

TETRAD
4 BLOOD MOONS

ELLUL 29

THIS SOLAR ECLIPSE IS WITHIN THE TRIBULATION TETRAD

Now if by tribulation, Jonathan Cahn meant the Great Tribulation, then it is not at all possible to begin then.  I have gone over this before in various articles and videos, and I have directly debunked the hypotheses of the Great Tribulation beginning in 2014 or 2015 (see When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?).

I would also note that World Net Daily (WND) attempted to claim that the financial markets were impacted  in the wake of the Shemitah (which Jonathan Cahn also promoted) when it had the headline Markets tumbling in Shemitah’s wake (see Dow Jones up in the ‘wake of the Shemitah’?). Yet, he DOW Jones Industrial Average opening at the start of their claimed Shemitah year was 17,033.93 and the DOW Jones Industrial Average close on Friday, October 9, 2015 was 17,084.49.   The DOW apparently went UP now, in the ‘wake of the Shemitah.’ The same day it posted the article, it posted when with the headlines  IT’S SUPERNATURAL! Learn the significance of the Shemitah cycle (see Dow Jones up in the ‘wake of the Shemitah’?).

More on Jonathan Cahn is in the article: Messianic Judaism Beliefs Differ from the Continuing Church of God.

Mark Biltz and Blood Moons

In 2008, World Net Daily reported the following:

A minister who promotes the Old Testament roots of Christianity suggests a rare string of lunar and solar eclipses said to fall on God’s annual holy days seven years from now could herald what’s come to be known as the “Second Coming” of Jesus.

“God wants us to look at the biblical calendar,” says Mark Biltz, pastor of El Shaddai Ministries in Bonney Lake, Wash. “The reason we need to be watching is [because] He will signal His appearance. But we have to know what to be watching as well. So we need to be watching the biblical holidays.”...

Biltz began focusing on the precise times of both solar and lunar eclipses, sometimes called “blood moons” since the moon often takes on a bloody color. He logged onto NASA’s eclipse website which provides precision tracking of the celestial events.

He noted a rare phenomenon of four consecutive total lunar eclipses, known as a tetrad.

(Blood moon eclipses: 2nd Coming in 2015? Minister uses NASA forecasting to study signals of Jesus’ return WorldNetDaily – April 30, 2008. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=63076).

So, there was a claim that Jesus could return in 2015 based upon the red moon calculations that Mark Biltz researched. But that is a false claim. And I denounced it back then:. On May 1, 2008, I posted:

Jesus would not return with a red moon (Red Moon? Might the Great Tribulation Begin in 2013?)

I remain of the view that the blood moons are not significant the way many promoters of them have claimed.

In 2013, World Net Daily reported the following:

October 5, 2013

Have you heard about the “blood moons” coming in 2014 and 2015?

Might they herald an event of prophetic biblical significance?…

On Passover 2014 the first of a series of mysterious astronomical events will occur that will have the whole world looking up at the night skies…The story begins in 2008 when Hebrew roots Pastor Mark Biltz made an astounding discovery...
.
When checking the schedule for eclipses, Biltz found two – one on Passover the next on the high holy day of Rosh Hashanah, the first day of the seventh Hebrew month. Two more take place in 2015, also on biblical “feast” days. http://www.wnd.com/2013/10/are-you-ready-for-2014-biblical-blood-moons/#S7jmGXUUVkEO7Yet.99

The above is quite odd because Passover is on or near a night of the full moon, whereas Rosh Hashanah (which is also known as the Feast of Trumpets) is on or near a night of a “new” moon.  I suspect that someone meant to refer to the Feast of Tabernacles/Sukkoth, which starts on or near a night of the full moon, as opposed to the Feast of Trumpets which does not.

The December 2012 video I watched from John Hagee referred to Sukkoth and not Rosh Hashanah. And I video I watched from Mark Biltz also had him referring to Sukkoth and not Rosh Hashahah, so perhaps someone at World Net Daily misunderstood.

I should add that when I watched a video from Mark Biltz, he also said that Jesus referred to blood moons Since Jesus did not directly say blood or red moons directly in scripture, this apparently is a reference by Mark Biltz to Matthew 24:29.

Mark Biltz and the August 21, 2017 Solar Eclipse

Apparently not embarressed about blood moons, Mark Biltz later decided to push claims related to a 2017 solar eclipse. Here is some of what I posted about that on April 11, 2017:

Notice the following:

WND EXCLUSIVE

Solar eclipse across U.S. called ‘a sign from God’

‘Blood Moons’ discoverer Mark Biltz says route determines ‘warning to a specific nation’ …

A total solar eclipse will cross the continental United States this summer, an event that hasn’t happened in roughly a century.

Everyone will experience on Aug. 21 at least 60 percent of the sun being covered, and the resulting semidarkness. Those within about a 60-mile wide diagonal line from the Pacific Northwest through South Carolina will see the sky go dark and the accompanying temperature drop.

Pastor Mark Biltz, the man who discovered the “Blood Moons” phenomenon and a Christian who urges careful attention to heavenly signs, suggests it may be something that needs more attention.

Such as a direct warning to the United States.

“From a biblical point of view, a solar eclipse is meant as a sign from God,” Biltz told WND. “In Genesis 1:14, God declared this to be so. It is a sign that is beyond man’s control, something he can’t manipulate. Solar eclipses become biblically and prophetically significant and relevant when man understands their timing according to the biblical calendar and where they happen. Then we look for the patterns.

“As the sun is larger than the moon, the sun represents the nations of the world and the moon represents the nation of Israel, as their calendar months are based on the cycle of the moon while the nations of the world follow the sun for their calendar. When there is a total solar eclipse, it is a warning to a specific nation or nations depending on its path.” 04/10/17 http://www.wnd.com/2017/04/solar-eclipse-across-u-s-called-a-sign-from-god/#XlJFjO4DeOcdwBQK.99

But the Bible does not call the world the sun nor Israel the moon. Nor are solar eclipses referred to in Genesis 1:14–Jeremiah 10:2 warns against interpreting all astronomical events as coming from God.

Mark Bilts continued and stated:

“Now, this Aug 21, 2017, we have a total solar eclipse going over the United States,” he noted. “This is again at the beginning the month of repentance on the first of Elul! Could God be giving us a warning that we need to repent or judgment will be coming to the United States? The timing couldn’t be clearer!

“We also find seven years later there will be another total solar eclipse running from south to the northeast across the United States on April 8, 2024, with St. Louis in the crosshairs between the two eclipses. April 8 is significant because it is the anniversary of the dedication of Moses tabernacle, when God reasserted Himself into the affairs of men with His glory coming to earth. It just so happens it was also the day Aaron’s two sons, Nadab and Abihu died.” 04/10/17 http://www.wnd.com/2017/04/solar-eclipse-across-u-s-called-a-sign-from-god/#XlJFjO4DeOcdwBQK.99

Elul is the 6th month in the Hebrew calendar, it usually begins in August, but never in April.

WND has frequently tried to promote Mark Biltz and is doing so again; Notice:

Biltz, author of the new book “God’s Day Timer,” suggests God often uses celestial signs to send direct messages to the nations.

He’ll be discussing his studies and discoveries this fall on the WND Cruise to Alaska Sept. 8-15. http://www.wnd.com/2017/04/solar-eclipse-across-u-s-called-a-sign-from-god/#BfXqXwly341WHZml.99

WND promotes him, but Mark Biltz has been wrong. He misled many about the “blood moons” a couple of years ago (see also WND continues to promote Mark Biltz’ blood moon nonsense) and this particular solar eclipse is should not be considered a sign from God.

But what about some eclipse issue? Is it coming?

Yes, NASA reports that a total solar eclipse is coming:

Scientists are gearing up for a total solar eclipse on Aug. 21, 2017. The August 2017 total eclipse will be visible from an approximately 100-mile-wide path that cuts diagonally across the United States. Those in North America who are not along this narrow path—called the path of totality—will see a partial solar eclipse that day. The August 2017 eclipse will be the first total solar eclipse visible from the contiguous United States since Feb. 26, 1979. …

During a total solar eclipse, the moon completely blocks the sun’s incredibly bright face. This is possible because, though the sun’s diameter is about 400 times the moon’s diameter, the sun is also about 400 times farther away from us than the moon is, making them appear to be approximately the same size from Earth. With the face obscured, the sun’s atmosphere—the corona, which is about a million times dimmer than the face—becomes visible to eclipse-watchers. It was only because of total solar eclipses that early scientists could observe the sun’s wispy atmosphere, providing some of the earliest insight into our dynamic sun. Most modern solar observations of the corona are taken with an instrument called a coronagraph, which uses a disk to block the sun in a camera’s field of view, but coronagraphs obscure part of the inner corona as well—which doesn’t happen during a total eclipse.

“During a total solar eclipse, the moon is a near-perfect fit for the sun’s disk, so almost all of the corona is visible,” said Jack Ireland, a solar physicist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.

This means that a total eclipse can provide fantastic views of the sun’s inner corona, showing the large loops of solar material that dance through it. These eclipse events provide Earth-based scientists and photographers the chance to take more detailed images of the corona than space-based satellite missions can.

Some are concerned about it:

Apocalypse ‘coming in 2017’ after total solar eclipse hits US and UK

A TOTAL solar eclipse will plunge Britain and America into darkness – and bring on the end of the world …

Or so it’s claimed by one group of hardcore Christians, who believe they will soon be raptured into heaven.
And in their bid to prove it, they’ve rallied a series of bizarre calculations to their cause. …

They’re pointing to verses in the apocalyptic Bible book, Revelations, describing a woman clothed in the sun, with the moon at her feet. According to Scripture, this pregnant woman will be hunted by a Satanic seven-headed dragon eager to eat her unborn child. But the child will be born and taken unto god, the verses foretell, before the dragon is defeated by an angel army. More is made of Israel’s birth as a state, a process which began when the UK announced its withdrawal from Palestine in 1947.{2017} will mark 70 years since that announcement; a Biblical generation. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/543062/Total-solar-eclipse-2017-apocalypse-end-times-world-US-America-UK-Europe-Bible-revelations

While a total solar eclipse is to take place on Monday, August 21, 2017, this will not possibly result in the end of the world. A solar eclipse is NOT a sign that the ‘great tribulation’ (Matthew 24:21) will begin. And since the great tribulation has not started, the world is not possibly going to end then.

As far as Israel and 1947/1948 goes, check out the video Israel, 1948, and Prophecy.

Mark Biltz also tries to tie this eclipse in with Revelation 12:

“Another very significant sign in the heavens is happening right after this year’s total solar eclipse on the first of Elul, beginning the month of repentance,” he noted. “A month later, we find during the Days of Awe from Rosh Hashanah on Tishri 1 and Yom Kippur on Tishri 10, there will be a confirmation of celestial events as described in the Book of Revelation. Revelation 12: 1-2 reads: ‘A great sign was seen in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was with child. She cried out in pain, laboring to give birth.’

“The woman clothed with the sun is the constellation Virgo and represents the nation of Israel. The 12 stars represent the 12 tribes of Israel. Interestingly, the constellation Leo, the Lion, which is above Virgo, is made up of nine stars. The Lion represents specifically the tribe of Judah. It just so happens this year during the Days of Awe, three planets will join the constellation Leo making up 12 stars. Virgo will be clothed with the sun, and the moon will be under her feet, fulfilling this sign to precise detail!”

Biltz believes these are signs God is reinserting Himself into human history as prophecy becomes fulfilled as never before. http://www.wnd.com/2017/04/solar-eclipse-across-u-s-called-a-sign-from-god/#BfXqXwly341WHZml.99

Two constellations that astrologers refer to appearing close is supposed to be a fulfillment of Revelation 12:1-2? Preposterous!

As far as Revelation goes, chapter 12, which discusses the woman and fleeing does NOT refer to a solar eclipse. Here is the entire chapter:

1 Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. 2 Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth.

3 And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. 4 His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born. 5 She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne. 6 Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days.

7 And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, 8 but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. 9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. 12 Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”

13 Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. 14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. 15 So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. 16 But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. 17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. (Revelation 12:1-17)

It should be noted that Revelation 12:1-2 discusses the woman giving birth to Jesus. Later we see the ‘woman’ fleeing to the wilderness–this is not a reference to a rapture in heaven. Nor does the Bible say that the woman is the constellation Virgo.

As far as the ‘end’ goes, meaning for sake of argument the great tribulation (Matthew 24:21), it cannot start in 2017–for details watch the short video: Will the Great Tribulation Start in 2017?

Getting back to Mark Biltz, notice also the following:

Biltz said: “Just look at the biblical pattern. Many know the story of Jonah and Nineveh from the Bible, but not the historical background events as to what had already transpired, and why they repented. In 765 B.C., a plague broke out in Nineveh where even the king was not able to go out to war, as was custom. This was followed by a civil war and then another plague!

“An archaeological find of cuneiform tablets was found in the 19th century describing events in Nineveh. A famous eclipse mentioned in the tablets was known as the Bur-Sagale eclipse, which is verified by NASA as occurring on June 15, 763 BC. The path of totality was right over Nineveh. God had declared the sun and the moon were for signs, and now the Ninevites saw the wrath of God coming even before Jonah arrived a couple months later. When Jonah arrived, they were ripe for repentance.”

Biltz argued signs of this kind also occurred during the modern era just before cataclysmic events.

“Now fast-forward to another solar eclipse on August 21, but this time in 1914,” he said. “This is the first day of the month of Elul, which begins the month of repentance in ‘God’s Day Timer.’ The first of Elul is when Jonah began prophesying for 40 days. Just before the eclipse, we see on June 28th, 1914, through the month of August, the events of World War 1 begin! The path of totality of the eclipse was over Eastern Europe and the Ottoman Empire or Middle East, including Nineveh again. This was foretelling the destruction of the Ottoman Empire in World War I.”

Biltz suggests such cataclysms may be in store for the United States, especially given the timing of this event. …

Biltz says such celestial signs should always be viewed as part of a larger pattern. He has identified another astronomical pattern that will emerge just after the solar eclipse this year. http://www.wnd.com/2017/04/solar-eclipse-across-u-s-called-a-sign-from-god/#XlJFjO4DeOcdwBQK.99

Mark Biltz made similar types of arguments when he pushed his blood moon nonsense, and many Protestants thought he may have been right. We in the CCOG denounced the blood moon argument (see also Blood Moons and Prophecy) and we, not Mark Biltz, were proven right.

The Bible teaches:

2 The LORD says, “Do not start following pagan religious practices. Do not be in awe of signs that occur in the sky even though the nations hold them in awe. 3 For the religion of these people is worthless. They cut down a tree in the forest, and a craftsman makes it into an idol with his tools. 4 He decorates it with overlays of silver and gold. He uses hammer and nails to fasten it together so that it will not fall over. (Jeremiah 10:2-4, NET Bible)

Mark Biltz is once again trying to tell people to be in awe of something that does not have prophetic significance. Do not be like the pagans and read things into astronomical phenomena that people like Mark Biltz are pushing.  How he twists scriptures (cf. 2 Peter 3:16) and connects things while overlooking what the Bible teaches reminds me a lot of the late Harold Camping who detailed calculations and predictions were later proven wrong (see Harold Camping’s Teachings About the End of the World Do Not Agree with the Bible).

Mark Biltz is now talking about the asteroid Apophis, named after an Egyptian god of chaos, is poised to make a near miss of Earth on April 13, 2029--for details on that, check out the article .

The great tribulation will come and Jesus will return, but following the signs that JESUS GAVE IN THE BIBLE (see When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?):

3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.  8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. (Matthew 24:3-21)

The disciples asked about the end and Jesus gave them signs to look for. Real Christians are to “walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7), but many who claim to be Christian seem to often prefer to walk by sight and look to signs other than those Jesus said to look towards.

While the end is coming, the solar eclipse of 2017, like the ‘blood moons’ of 2014 and 2015, is NOT a sign that Jesus gave in Matthew 24 nor as shown in the Book of Revelation. Mark Biltz once again is pointing to his interpretations and attempting to say they mean some particular message from God. Although the USA does need national repentance, God is not sending a total eclipse as a means to do that. God has allowed many eclipses and they of themselves are NOT listed in the BIBLE as being of prophetic importance.

A solar eclipse is not a sign of the beginning of the great tribulation (see the 6th chapter of Revelation). A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partly obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth. Casting a shadow does not end the world.

So why bother to post about the ‘solar eclipse’ or darkness prediction? Well, there are prophecies about the sun becoming dark:

29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.  30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. (Matthew 24:29-30)

12 I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. 13 And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. (Revelation 6:12-13)

So, the Book of Revelation, also called the Book of the Apocalypse, does refer to a time when the sun will be darkened. But this happens after the great tribulation according to Jesus, which begins with the opening of the fifth seal (and this cannot start before 2021, see When Will the Great Tribulation Begin? ), hence this eclipse in 2017 is NOT be a sign from God. Do not expect the fulfillment of Matthew 24:29 and Revelation 6:12 before 2023 at the earliest.

Because there are many false and heretical leaders that lead people astray on prophecy (2 Peter 2:1-2).  Scoffers will not believe, but properly understood biblical prophecy will come to pass (2 Peter 3:1-12).

Sometimes false teachers mention the Bible to try to act like God sanctions their nonsense. And it is not just the secular fringe people, but also those who claim to be Christian or even claim to be in the Church of God.

Yet, those of us in the Continuing Church of God “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed” (2 Peter 1:19, KJV).

Why?

Because we believe the Bible over signs that many point to.

You should too.

Of course, the solar eclipse of 2017 was shown to be nothing but a natural phenomena.

Do not be like the pagans and read things into astronomical phenomena that people like Mark Biltz are pushining. The great tribulation will come and Jesus will return, but following the signs that JESUS GAVE IN THE BIBLE (see When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?). Real Christians are to "walk by faith, not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7), but many who claim to be Christian seem to often prefer to walk by sight.

Mark Biltz and the September 23rd Constellation of Virgo

Mark Biltz also pushed additional nonsense in 2017 related to the constellation called Virgo.

Artist impression of constellation ‘Virgo’ A.D. 1000

Notice World Net Daily (WND) again, promoting Mark Biltz and some other nonsense some Protestant-leaning doomsayers believe:

9/23/17: More ominous, ‘biblical’ signs in the sky

Blood Moons. A total solar eclipse traversing the country. A devastating hurricane. And next up, an astronomical sign seemingly straight out of the book of Revelation.

Is God trying to say something?

Pastor Mark Biltz, the man who discovered the “Blood Moons” phenomenon and is one of the world’s foremost experts on the “signs of the times,” says he believes the startling convergence of events is a message from heaven. And he says arguably the most important sign will be a starry pattern in the sky on Sept. 23.

On that day, the sun will be in the constellation Virgo (known as the virgin). The moon will be below the “feet” of the constellation. Additionally, Venus, Mars and Mercury will be above the constellation. As the constellation Leo has nine stars and will also be above Virgo’s head, the alignment can be interpreted as a “crown” of 12 stars.

Revelation 12: 1-2 reads: “And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.”

Biltz believes the upcoming sign on Sept. 23 is precisely what this passage is referring to.

“The woman clothed with the sun is the constellation Virgo and represents the nation of Israel,” he explained. “The 12 stars represent the 12 tribes of Israel. Interestingly, the constellation Leo, the lion, which is above Virgo, is made up of nine stars. The lion represents specifically the tribe of Judah. It just so happens this year during the Days of Awe, three planets will join the constellation Leo making up 12 stars. Virgo will be clothed with the sun, and the moon will be under her feet, fulfilling this sign to precise detail.”

Furthermore, said Biltz, contemporary events on Earth are also precisely fitting with biblical prophecy.

Biltz cited Luke 21:25, which says: “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring.”

“The next verse also refers to how ‘the powers of heaven shall be shaken.’ Look what happened immediately after the solar eclipse at the beginning of the month of repentance,” he said. “We have the sea and the waves roaring loud and clear because of Hurricane Harvey. Not only that, the eclipse was on the 21st and the hurricane was the 25th. This event has been directly tied to this verse in Luke 21:25! Talk about predicted in the Bible!” 09/09/17 http://www.wnd.com/2017/09/92317-more-ominous-biblical-signs-in-the-sky/

Mark Biltz’s statement, “Talk about predicted in the Bible!,” is a LIE! Mark Biltz errs twisting scriptures and misinterpreting them. This comment about the eclipse being on the 21st and Hurricane Harvey on the 25th somehow being a reference to Luke 21:25 is ludicrous.

(Now, as far as hurricanes go, check out our video: Hurricanes and Prophecy.)

Yet, as far as September 23, 2017 goes, there were reports from some trying to tie it to the Bible (see Comets, Wormwood, and Planet Nibiru).

In the case of Mark Biltz, he has repeatedly and improperly pointed to Luke 21:25. So, let’s look at it and the sequence that JESUS gave:

20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. 22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. 24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

25 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. (Luke 21:20-27)

So, the Bible says that AFTER Jerusalem is trampled by armies during the times of the Gentiles, there will be various signs in the heavens. Hence, once again Mark Biltz is pointing to a prophecy out of sequence.  Would you like to see more proof? Let’s notice the account in Matthew’s gospel from Jesus:

29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. (Matthew 24:29-30)

So, we see that it is AFTER the great tribulation (Matthew 24:21) that we see the signs in the heaven. Not before. Not now. Not September 23, 2017.

While hurricanes are consistent with Jesus’ words about “troubles” (Mark 13:8) prior to the start of the great tribulation (watch also Hurricanes and Prophecy), a view of a constellation on September 23rd is not consistent with Luke 21:25.

Because Mark Biltz and others have falsely claimed that God is sending a message through natural phenomena, they are turning people off against Bible prophecy.

The following prophecy from the Apostle Peter applies not only to people who claim to be in the COG (David Pack, Ron Weinland, and Gerald Flurry come to mind), but also to those like David Meade, Gary Ray, and Mark Biltz:

1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber. (2 Peter 2:1-3)

The false prognosticators cause the Christian way to be blasphemed, even though (in my view) none of those I have specifically named are real Christians.

No wonder Peter was also inspired to write:

3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; (2 Peter 3:3-15)

False prophecies have turned people away from believing that biblical prophecies are relevant.

Mark Biltz needs to repent from his repeated public mispplication of scriptures.

Super Blood Moon of 2018

Sadly, Mark Biltz has not shown signs of true repentance over his errors.

Plus, World News Daily (WND) has continued to promote Mark Biltz:

January 21, 2018

Blood moons and eclipses have come and gone. But the signs of the times are getting more ominous than ever.

As if the total solar eclipse last August and the “blood moons” of 2014 and 2015 weren’t enough, there will be a “super blue blood moon eclipse” on Jan. 31 – something that hasn’t happened for 150 years.

And this rare event could herald war and turbulence on earth, according to a leading researcher of astronomical signs and how they interact with Scripture.

Rather than just looking skyward, Pastor Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries, the man who discovered the “Blood Moons” phenomenon, says people need to be looking to their Bibles.

“Many people seem to be overlooking the real importance of this event,” Biltz told WND. “The ‘super moon’ which takes place on January 31 is what is termed a ‘blue moon,’ because it is the second full moon in one month. It’s also going to be a total lunar eclipse, making it a ‘blood moon’ as well. This is the first time there’s been a total eclipse for a blue moon in 150 years, which makes it remarkable enough.

“But what makes this truly mind blowing is when this will happen biblically! The eclipse will take place on Tu B’Shevat on the biblical calendar, the fifteenth day of the month of Shevat. This is important because this upcoming eclipse is only one of a series. The next one is on July 27, which is Tu B’Av or the fifteenth of Av on the biblical calendar. The next one is January 21, 2019 – which just so happens to be Tu B’Shevat again!”

Biltz, author of “God’s Day Timer,” stresses he is not saying anything will happen on Jan. 31, the date of this blood moon. However, he argues the specific dates involved show God is sending an important message.

“These are very significant biblical dates, and now we have two blood red moons bookending each other in 2018 and 2019 on Tu B’Shevat,” he said. “This is fascinating prophetically because there is a section of Scripture in which Zechariah receives a revelation of a red horse being given a great sword to take peace from the Earth. And this takes place in the month of Shevat!”

The relevant section of the Bible, Zechariah 1: 7-8, reads:

Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the Lordunto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,

I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white.

“Not surprisingly, Zechariah asks what this is all about, and he receives some incredible insight from an angel who is nearby,” Biltz explained. In verse 12, we are told, “Then the angel of the Lord answered and said, O Lord of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?”

Biltz argues this message is of key importance for people alive today.

“Do you see the amazing pattern?” he asked. “The vision of the horses are of the four horses from Revelation. And this vision takes place at the end of a 70-year period (three score and ten) which is given to Israel. Israel is now celebrating its seventieth anniversary.”

He also argues the mention of the “second year of Darius” is also of critical importance, as the second year of President Trump’s administration approaches.

Once again, Mark Biltz and WND are promoting blood moon nonsense. God is NOT sending some special message with a recurring natural phenomena.

As far as prophecies and Donald Trump’s presidency goes, here is a link to a video which shows world events have been confirming at least 18 things I wrote about based upon my knowledge of biblical prophecies and geopolitics: Donald Trump’s Prophetic Presidency. But WND is not expected to promote that.

Longest Blood Moon: July 27, 2018

A major blood moon was expected in 2018:

June 26, 2018

The summer of 2018 offers up a cornucopia of astrological activity. If you’re wondering what’s next, the blood moon 2018 happens July 27, and it will be the longest total lunar eclipse this century. This type of lunar eclipse is referred to as a blood moon because of the reddish hue that surrounds the moon, and historically, it’s prompted conspiracy theorists to attribute it to the apocalypse, Express UK reported.  …

Additionally, some parts of South America might be able to catch a glimpse of the eclipse, Newsweek noted.

“The eclipse will take place from 6:24 p.m. UTC (2:24 p.m. ET) and 10:19 p.m. UTC (6:24 p.m. ET),” Newsweek reported. “The event will begin with a partial eclipse until around 7:30 p.m. UTC before the skies are graced with the especially long total eclipse,” which will last almost two hours. https://www.bustle.com/p/when-is-the-next-blood-moon-in-2018-it-will-be-the-longest-total-lunar-eclipse-this-century-9579973

On July 27, the moon will glow orange across much of the world in the longest lunar eclipse of this century.

If the internet is to be believed, this magnificent spectacle is also a sign of an impending apocalypse. A flurry of headlines—mostly from British tabloids—ask if the end of days is really upon us.

“Blood moon ‘to bring end of the world’ as stargazers enjoy longest lunar eclipse this century,” proclaimed the Mirror. “The Blood Moon prophecy: Fears bible predicts end of the world in WEEKS,” read the Daily Star.

The publications variously claim conspiracy theorists are taking the blood moon as a sign of an incoming apocalypse. 06/26/18 http://www.newsweek.com/blood-moon-conspiracy-theory-lunar-eclipse-apocalypse-995282

A least one Protestant thinks the 70th week of Daniel may commence then:

Regarding this is early 2018, I posted:

No, the blood moon for next month is not the commencement of the deal of Daniel 9:27. First that deal needs to be made, and then it must be confirmed by a ‘prince’ (see also The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27). So, unless something political happens in a major way very soon, that interpretation is totally false.

Some see ‘rapture’ connections:

The term is now so popular that you can find headlines referencing Blood Moons in as far flung places as India or the U.A.E.  It’s almost as if God used the previous tetrad of total lunar eclipses as a way to “correct” our language, so that the world would be using the terms used in Joel 2:31, Acts 2:20, and Revelation 6:12 at the time of the rapture of the Church and Christ’s subsequent return.

Also, just a big heads up that there is going to be an even more spectacular Blood Moon on July 27th.  It will be the longest total lunar eclipse in the 21st century and all of totality will be visible in the Israeli sky …

From the Great American Eclipse on August 21, 2017 to the Blood Moon is 340 days.

Strong’s 340 is “I make fresh again, renew, restore.”  Resurrection?

From the Revelation 12 Sign on September 23, 2017 to the historic Blood Moon on July 27, 2018 is 307 days.

Strong’s 307 is “I draw up.”  Thayer’s Greek Lexicon adds “to cause to go up or ascend.”  Rapture? https://www.unsealed.org/2018/01/pictures-from-historic-blood-moon.html

No, the tie to a Strong’s number is absurd and not a reason to believe Jesus will return on the 27th of July. People need to heed Jesus’ words in the Bible (cf. Matthew 24) and not nonsense.

Here is more from other rapturists:

2018 July 27th Tu B’Av, central lunar eclipse, “Bull’s-eye Blood Moon”, directly in line with Jerusalem.

Time line (Luke 21:32, Psalms 90:10, Dan 9)

1948 + 70 years = 2018
1968 + 50 years = 2018
2011 + 7 years =2018 …

This is the layout of the eclipses discovered by Mark Biltz.

The following is from his webpage.

I’m sure if they were only seen in Israel someone would say then it doesn’t pertain to the nations!

Lu 21:24-28 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, thenlook up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Regarding knowing “the day or the hour” scenario. I do not set dates and will not set dates.  Closely looking at a span of roughly 530 days is not date setting. First I would like to ask, what do you think this verse refers to in the many events that will unfold during the tribulation? Does it refer to the day the tribulation begins, or when the antichrist is revealed or when Messiah’s feet land on the Mt of Olives, or the rapture and on and on? http://www.rapturecode.com/signsintheheavens.htm

Mark Biltz has been wrong. He misled many about the “blood moons” a couple of years ago (see also WND continues to promote Mark Biltz’ blood moon nonsense) and about the 2017 solar eclipse being a sign from God.

Regarding the longest blood moon of the century I again informed people that this eclipsewais a natural phenomenon.

The 'Super Wolf Blood Moon' of January 21, 2019

Here is some information from Newsweek about a 2019 super blood moon:

December 6, 2018

In the early hours of January 21, there will be a total lunar eclipse, also known as a blood moon, which coincides with a supermoon—making it a super blood moon.

Anna Ross, an astronomer at the Royal Observatory Greenwich, London, tells Newsweek all about the event.

What is a total lunar eclipse and how rare is it?

A total lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes directly through the Earth’s full shadow (umbra). Due to the moon having an irregular orbit, this does not happen every time it is at the opposite side of the Earth to the sun, but only when the angles and distances are just right—otherwise we see either a full moon or a partial or penumbral eclipse. ...

Does this event have any effect on Earth, e.g., tides?

During lunar eclipses, the sun and moon are at opposite sides of the Earth to each other, putting the three bodies in the same orientation as during a full moon. When the sun and moon are in line, their gravitational pulls on our seas are combined. This causes higher high tides and lower low tides, also known as Spring Tides. Additionally, during a supermoon, the moon is at perigee (or closest approach to the Earth) causing its gravitational pull to be stronger and our tides to be a little more extreme (by a couple of inches). These are known as Perigean Spring Tides and occur around three or four times each year. https://www.newsweek.com/supermoon-blood-moon-super-blood-moon-january-total-solar-eclipse-1246833

Blood moons and super blood moons are natural phenomena. Yes, tides may be affected. But some have improperly pointed to naturally-occurring blood moons as a sign of the Great Tribulation or other prophetic matters. The one for January 21, 2019 was no exception to that:

December 7, 2018

THE end of the world could be just over a month away if biblical conspiracy theorists are correct about the Blood Moon prophecy. A doomsday preacher has now warned there is nothing to say the world will not end on January 22.

The Blood Moon prophecy claims the world’s fiery demise will be preceded by a menacing omen in the skies. Doom-mongers and online conspiracists believe the upcoming January 21 Super Blood Moon is such an omen.

On the night of the Blood Moon, the glowing disc of the lunar orb will take on a deep red, almost blood-like, hue. Pastor Paul Begley, an evangelical preacher from Indiana, US, is one of the many doomsday prophets who believe the Blood Moon is a warning of the apocalypse.

According to UK Express paper, Lunar Eclipse 2019 over America: When is the next Blood Moon in USA? Blood Moon 2019:

In his opinion, the “heavens are already shaking” and the “coming of the Lord” is fast approaching.

And though pastor Begley refrained this week from confirming the world will indeed perish in hellfire on January 22, he suggested this is a possible outcome of the Blood Moon. http://www.maravipost.com/end-of-the-world-on-january-22-bible-expert-addresses-super-blood-moon-doom-prophecy/

No, it was not possible that the world would end in 2019 or that January 21 blood moon is more than a natural phenomena.

Notice some denouncements of them that I made that were covered by the UK Express:

Blood Moon prophecy 2019: Is the Super Blood Moon a portent of DOOM?

THE January Blood Moon will see the lunar orb take on a deep red hue, leading prominent Christian conspiracists to believe the 2019 eclipse is a warning sign of imminent doom – but is there anything to fear?

12 January 2019

The prophetic passages about the apocalypse have led doomsday preachers around the globe to warn devout Christians an “event of biblical promotions” is brewing on the horizon.

Evangelical preacher Paul Begley from West Lafayette in Indiana, US, is a prominent supporter of the Blood Moon apocalypse theory.

The firebrand preacher dubbed the Blood Moon eclipse a “harbinger” of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

There are biblical experts who dispute this, however, and instead believe the Blood Moon is not a sign of the end times.

One of these experts is Dr Bob Thiel, of the Continuing Church of God, who told Express.co.uk the January  is “not the fulfilment of biblical prophecy”.

This and any other Blood Moons in 2019 are not the fulfilment of biblical prophecies

Dr Bob Thiel

Dr Thiel said: “The Super Wolf Blood Moon expected in January 2019 is not a special message from God.

“Years ago I denounced the view the Blood Moons of 2014 and 2015 could mean Jesus would return or the Day of the Lord was about to start.

“Those who pushed that then, as well as later, have been repeatedly proven wrong.

“While some have said this one for 2019 is significant for reasons such as being near Donald Trump’s two-year inaugural anniversary, the truth is that this naturally occurring eclipse is not a biblical message from God.”

The main reason why Dr Thiel does not believe the January lunar eclipse is a portent of doom is found in the very same biblical passages conspiracists draw their theories from.

Revelation 6:12-14 reads: “And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

“And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

“And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.”

According to Dr Thiel, these passages prove apocalyptic Blood Moons will not appear in the night skies until after the final days of mankind begin.

He pointed towards other passages demonstrating this in Matthew 24:29-31 and Acts 2:20-21.

Dr Thiel said: “Although the Bible absolutely does prophesy events related to Blood Moons, according to the New Testament, these do not occur until well after the start of the Great Tribulation.

“Since that event cannot occur for years as other events must happen first, therefore, this and any other Blood Moons in 2019 are not the fulfilment of biblical prophecies.” https://www.express.co.uk/news/weird/1071047/Blood-moon-prophecy-2019-eclipse-end-of-the-world-super-blood-moon-bible

Eclipse 2019 prophecy: Why did the world NOT end on the January Blood Moon?

DOOMSDAY preachers who loudly touted the January Blood Moon a harbinger of the apocalypse have been proven wrong, according to a biblical prophecy expert.

25 January 2019

The  eclipse peaked in the morning hours of Monday, January 21, here in the UK. For a period of 62 minutes starting just before 5am GMT, the Full Moon turned an ominous red colour in the Earth’s shadow. Some Christian conspiracy theorists saw this as a prophetic fulfilment of biblical prophecy. The Blood Moon was dubbed a “harbinger of the Apocalypse”, a “prophetic sign for America” and “evidence of Jesus Christ’s Second Coming”.

The Blood Moon was linked to a number of prophecies foretold by the Book of Revelation, Book of Acts and Book of Joel.

And yet despite these doomsday warnings, the Blood Moon passed through nightside totality without kick-starting the end times.

Dr Bob Thiel, a biblical prophecy expert from the Continuing Church of God, told Express.co.uk there was no basis in scripture to truly consider the January Blood Moon a prophetic sign.

The preacher previously argued the January Super Blood Wolf Moon “”.

His reasoning for this is a number of events which will have to precede and follow the Moon turning red in order for Revelation prophecy to come true.

The preacher has now said some of the events outlined in the Bible are occurring at this very moment but it is unclear where these are headed.

Dr Thiel said: “The basic sequence is that certain sorrows and troubles will continue.”

In particular, Mark 13:5-8, 37 reads: “And Jesus, answering them, began to say: ‘Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' and will deceive many.

“‘But when you hear of wars and rumours of wars, do not be troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet.

Some nation will become highly indebted before the Great Tribulation

Dr Bob Thiel

“‘For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles.

“‘These are the beginnings of sorrows ... And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”

According to Dr Thiel, the “sorrows” are happening now but there are many other examples of scripture which also need to be fulfilled.

Dr Thiel said: “For example, some nation will become highly indebted before the Great Tribulation – Habakkuk 2:6. This is happening to the USA.

“Damascus will be destroyed – Isaiah 17:1 – and great military damage will hit Jerusalem – Isaiah 22:8-9. The timing of these two events possibly occur before a prophesied peace deal.

“One of the most important events to watch for is when the 'peace' deal of Daniel 9:27 is confirmed. Deals have been proposed, but the biblical one has not yet been made nor confirmed.

“A King of the North – who was a 'prince' in Daniel 9:27 – and a King of the South – Daniel 11:27 – will arise and make a lying deal – Daniel 11:27. Europe will get a ‘great army’ – Daniel 11:25. We are seeing the foundations for this now."

Another prophetic sign to look out for is the return of animal sacrifices, as outlined in Daniel 9:27.

Dr Thiel also said the world will only come to pass after all apocalyptic signs are fulfilled and the period of Great Tribulations starts.

After the Great Tribulation, the sixth seal will open which is when the Moon will turn into blood – could it be the Blood Moon?

Soon after, the seventh seal in Revelation will open and usher in trumpet blasts and cataclysm.

Dr Thiel said: “The crashing of Wormwood into the Earth will occur after the third trumpet blast – Revelation 8:10-11. Some might call this Planet X hitting the Earth.

“The gathering for Armageddon will begin related to the sixth trumpet blast – Revelation 8:13-19; 16:12-16.

“Then at the seventh trumpet – Revelation 11:15 – Jesus will return to establish the millennial kingdom.

“The Great Tribulation should begin about 3.5 years after the peace deal – Daniel 9:27 – is confirmed, and right after the King of the North tries to proclaim peace and safety – 1 Thessalonians 5:3 – to throw people off – cf. Daniel 11:24 –for his invasion plans.” https://www.express.co.uk/news/weird/1077834/Eclipse-2019-prophecy-blood-moon-end-of-the-world-christianity-bible-jesus

For more on 2019, check out the video: Might the Great Tribulation start in 2019?

Because there are many false and heretical leaders that lead people astray on prophecy and sometimes many mention the Bible to try to act like God sanctions their nonsense. Yet, they should be denounced as false.

All should REALLY pay attention to the Bible.

That way you can be certain that the upcoming ‘blood moon’ is not a message from God related to Jesus’ return or Daniel 9:27.

Red Moon Rapture

Years ago, some claimed that Jesus would come to 'rapture' the church either before or shortly after a red moon.

Perhaps I should add that a YouTube video I watched from a Protestant source claimed that Pope Francis’ planned trip to the USA and United Nations in September 2015, combined with the blood moon that month, are signs that a one-world government will start then along with a ‘seven-year tribulation.’  Back then I wrote that I did not consider this to be possible--nor did I believe a pre-tribulation rapture would occur with the blood moons of 2014 or 2015--nor in 2018 as some later speculated.

And while it is true that Jesus will return after the blood moon that the Bible refers to in Joel 2 and Revelation 6, the return of Jesus Christ is not until after the Great Tribulation. Notice the account from the Matthew's Gospel:

3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you...

15 "Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be...

Matthew 24:3,4,15-21,29-31)

Many have been deceived in the past and others are deceived now. Jesus will return with the sound of a great trumpet and Christians will be gathered with Him (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). And although this should be comforting to Christians, Jesus will not be returning before 2015. Any rapturists who believe Jesus will return earlier are bound to be disappointed as that will not happen.

What About 2024, etc.?

World Net Daily posted the following:

Biblical expert warns of upcoming ‘blood moons’

March 16, 2024

ISRAEL – On Monday, March 25, 2024, the sun, earth and moon will perfectly align, creating a penumbral lunar eclipse two weeks after a total solar eclipse transverses the continental U.S.

WND spoke with Pastor Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries about the celestial events. Biltz deeply understands the connection between eclipses and biblical holidays. …

“From a biblical point of view, an eclipse is meant to be a sign from God,” said Biltz, citing Genesis 1:14: “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years.”

“The number one reason for an eclipse is to be a sign,” he explained. “It is a sign that is beyond man’s control, something he cannot manipulate.” …

While lunar eclipses occur on average one or two times a year, Pastor Biltz explained that when they fall on the biblical holidays, they are significant. This convergence is what Biltz refers to as a “blood moon tetrad,” a phenomenon he first identified in 2008.

His blood moons prophecy is based on a series of four consecutive total lunar eclipses coinciding with Jewish holidays with six full moons in between that have no intervening partial lunar eclipses. This series is referred to as a tetrad.

The most recent tetrad began with a total lunar eclipse on April 15, 2014, the first night of Pesach (Passover). This marked the first of four consecutive eclipses. The second lunar eclipse took place on Oct. 8, 2014, marking the second night of Sukkot. The third lunar eclipse was on April 4, 2015, the second night of Pesach, and the fourth occurred on Sept. 28, 2015, the second night of Sukkot. …

The notable exception was the blood moon tetrad that occurred in 2014-2015. No major war or significant event happened that year.

“I was trying to figure out what it was, but it was October 7 that showed me what that Tetrad meant,” Pastor Biltz said. “The 1967-1968 tetrad of blood moons was a seven-year warning of the Yom Kippur War in 1973. Yom Kippur in 1073 was the very first day of the Jubilee cycle. And then the 2014-2015 Protective Edge incursion into Gaza and the Blood Moon that accompanied it were a seven-year warning before the October 7 war which happened on Simchat Torah, the very last day of that same 50-year Jubilee cycle. So, the last Jubilee cycle was bookended with wars and blood moons.” …

He remarked that the upcoming total solar eclipse will cross the border into Canada, passing over a city called Economy in the end.

“I think this is a warning we’re going to see an economic tragedy coming to the whole world,” Biltz said. “It will begin in the United States, but it will reverberate throughout the whole world.” 03/16/24 https://www.wnd.com/2024/03/biblical-expert-warns-upcoming-blood-moons/

As Jeremiah 10:2 states, we are not to be dismayed by things in the sky. And that includes the next blood moon. The USA is going to have major economic problems because of its debt (cf. Habakkuk 2:6-8), but is not at all related to any blood moon this Spring.

Years ago, I denounced the view that the ‘blood moons’ of 2014 and 2015 could mean that Jesus would return or that the ‘Day of the Lord’ was about to start. This was something that Mark Biltz (who practices Messianic Judaism) started promoting back in 2008–but he was wrong then and is not a reliable “Biblical expert” when it comes to many things, including the ramifications of blood moons. I also denounced the super blood moon prophetic nonsense in 2018 and in 2019 denounced the super blood moon prophetic nonsense for 2019, plus another claim in 2022.

Mark Biltz’s explanation of how the blood moons of 2014-2025 “were a seven-year warning before the October 7 war” is totally wrong. Consider also that the 7 October 2023 was also EIGHT years after 2015, not even the seven as he seems to wish to claim.

For over a decade, I have repeatedly warned against false ‘blood moon’ interpretations, as the following articles over the past nearly nine years help demonstrate:

Concluding Comments on Blood Moons and Eclipses

There is a phenomena known as a blood moon. They have occurred over the centuries and more are expected. As would be expected, some historical events have occurred in red moon years, but that does not prove that all red moons are prophetic. The same goes for solar eclipses.

NASA knew about the red moons in 2014 and 2015. NASA knew about the solar eclipse of 2017.

The Bible does tell of a time when the moon becomes blood just prior to the Day of the Lord, which is also prior to the return of Jesus Christ.

These particular blood moons in the projections for 2014 and 2015, however, were just those in the normal expected cycle and are not telling us anything about the return of Jesus Christ, some type of rapture, or the Day of the Lord occurring in 2015. Nor was the solar eclipse of 2017 a warning from God. Nor was the 2018 'Super Blood Moon' nor the July 2018 Blood Moon. Nor was the 2019 'super wolf blood moon.'

Although there will be events of prophetic interest that will occur in those years, Jesus will not return until sometime the next decade at the earliest. The Great Tribulation will not start before 2022--and even that seems to be too soon. The final "Day of the Lord" will not begin before 2028.

In this article, I originally wrote in 2013 that Jesus is NOT coming on April 15, 2014. That was correct. Nor could He come on the blood moons in 2015--biblically this is not possible. Nor did the 2017 eclipse signal the end. Nor did the 2018 Blood Moons. Nor was the 'super wolf blood moon' for 2019.

Those who believe otherwise are misled.

Jesus will, however, return some day. In the Continuing Church of God, "We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed" (2 Peter 1:19, KJV). Why? Because we believe the Bible over signs that many point to.

Sadly, some who are looking at some Protestant teachings and traditions are overlooking various facts and what the Bible really teaches.
