Mexico-USA western beach border wall near Tijuana

President Trump long promised to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border and on Saturday, he told reporters that Mexico will still pay for it.

He expressed that view despite his administration’s recent efforts to secure the wall’s funding through Congress.

“The Trump administration has told lawmakers that it wants $18 billion over the next decade for the initial phase of a Mexico border wall, laying out for the first time a detailed financial blueprint for the president’s signature campaign promise,” the Washington Post reported.

In fact, he has said on numerous occasions that the funding has to be part of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) deal.

“The Democrats have been told, and fully understand, that there can be no DACA without the desperately needed WALL at the Southern Border and an END to the horrible Chain Migration & ridiculous Lottery System of Immigration,” Trump wrote in a recent tweet. “We must protect our Country at all cost!”

While reiterating his campaign promise to get Mexico to fund the wall, Trump on Saturday added, “we are negotiating NAFTA, we’ll see how that goes…in some form, Mexico will pay for the wall.” https://www.aol.com/article/news/2018/01/06/trump-still-says-mexico-will-pay-for-the-border-wall/23325989/

Now, Democratic politicians do not like this, nor do they believe Donald Trump will get Mexico to pay for this.

While Donald Trump seems to feel that since the USA is Mexico’s largest export market, he can do as he wants (presuming US court approvals of certain deals/policies), the leaders in Mexico have a different view.

Mexico’s President Nieto has previously stated that his government would not pay for this wall. It is not likely he will change that view.

Donald Trump probably believes that he can implement trade duties/tariffs to pay for this, or if he can threaten high enough ones, that the government of Mexico will cave on this.

Sadly, Donald Trump does not seem to appreciate or understand the biblical prophecies related to the USA. Therefore, it is likely that he will continue to take steps that will upset various global leaders not realizing how this will turn out–like he recently did with Pakistan (see Pakistan to trade in yuan while launch of petro-yuan draws nearer).

Donald Trump’s immigration and trade statements have long concerned many in Mexico, as well as in Europe.

Consider also something that I warned about in 2008:

In the spirit of accommodation and personal interest, many of the “standards” of the European Union will be adopted by the USA, Canada and Mexico, as well as by nearly all of the countries of the world. The Arab nations will most likely agree with many of the standards as they seem to be destined to form a brief end-time alliance with the Europeans (The Arab World In the Bible, History, and Prophecy).

However, over time, it will become increasingly clear that the British will be in more agreement with the Canadians and Americans and that the European Union in more agreement with the Mexicans than the EU will have with the English-speaking nations.

Trade wars and/or serious trade disputes will most likely arise.

The Brits will ultimately decide that they are more supportive of the Americans and Canadians. They will be so much more supportive that they will end up in a trading agreement with them (with the Australians and New Zealanders probably also becoming part of that agreement).

The EU will decide that Mexico and the rest of Latin America are in more agreement with it and thus make some type of serious trading agreement with most (or all) of Latin America. The Vatican will also have influence here as Latin America is highly Roman Catholic.

The Europeans and Americans, however, will continue to have military agreements, though many will be tense about them.

Eventually, the Europeans (possibly under the cover of pretending that they are involved in a “NATO-like” exercise in North America) will eventually launch a surprise attack against the United States in fulfillment of both biblical and Catholic prophecies. The European Union and Mexico have set two new rounds of trade talks in the first half of 2017, an acceleration of negotiations to deepen economic ties in the wake of Donald Trump’s inauguration as U.S. president.

The European Commission said on Wednesday that EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom and Mexican Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo had scheduled subsequent rounds for April 3-7 and June 26-29.

“Together, we are witnessing the worrying rise of protectionism around the world. Side by side, as like-minded partners, we must now stand up for the idea of global, open cooperation,” the two said in a joint statement.

European leaders have said Brussels should take advantage of a more protectionist U.S. leader, who has already withdrawn from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal, to step up negotiations with would-be partners.

In his State of the Union speech, European Commission President Juncker has praised the bloc for “bouncing back” after 10 years of crises. …

On strengthening Europe’s trade program, Juncker said that, “Europe has always been an attractive partner to trade with, and now countries from all over the world are knocking on our door.”

Europe is trying to move to fill in areas where Donald Trump has indicated he wants to change trade terms. This is giving Europe an opportunity that it would not otherwise have. European leaders have been meeting with Mexico and other Latin American nations because of policies/statements by US President Trump.

Mexico seems to hope that it can trade more with Europe.

Expect more issues to arise.

Various ones in Mexico have long considered that the USA is an enemy nation.

Many in Mexico believe that the USA improperly took lands ranging from Texas to California and points in-between. They believe that they are entitled to receive that land back. It has been called the “reconquista” (“re-conquering” in English). Interestingly, the Bible teaches that the European King of the North power will takeover the USA and divide its land for gain (Daniel 11:39)–Mexico will likely end up with at least some of its claimed lands back this century. And yes, I believe that Mexican troops will one day align with Europe and that this will NOT turn out well for the USA!

I expect that Mexico will end up with at least some of its claimed lands back this century.

Sound preposterous?

Consider something that happened a century ago:

One hundred years ago today, the United States officially declared war on Germany and entered World War I. Days before the declaration of war, President Woodrow Wilson urged a special joint session of Congress to “formally accept the status of belligerent which has thus been thrust upon it.”

Wilson had not wanted to do this. Indeed, he’d won reelection the previous fall as the antiwar candidate, running on the popular slogans “He kept us out of war” and “America First”—appeals to voters who wanted to stay out of a major European war and avoid a simmering conflict with Mexico.

But two events would change everything, and force Americans to accept that they could no longer avoid what had become a global conflict. The first was Germany’s resumption of unrestricted submarine warfare on passenger and merchant ships. The second was the “Zimmerman telegraph,” which revealed Germany’s attempt to forge a secret alliance with Mexico against the United States, promising to help Mexico recover territory it had ceded to the United States following the Mexican-American War in 1848.

Both of these developments, like much of World War I, seem exotic and unimaginable today. A major military power attacking passenger ships with submarines? Mexico invading Texas? It’s easy to think we’ll never face such scenarios again, and we probably won’t face those particular scenarios. But as distant and strange as the First World War seems to us today, the reasons Wilson changed course and declared war hold vital relevance to our national life in the twenty-first century, and we ignore or misunderstand those reasons to our peril. https://thefederalist.com/2017/04/06/americas-reasons-entering-wwi-resonate-today/

I do believe that Mexico will be willing to cooperate with a German-dominated power in Europe to invade the USA. Do not think it cannot happen. Mexico is pivoting towards Europe, while the USA has been pivoting away from both Europe and Mexico.

While in the short-run, the USA can take steps to seriously harm Mexico, it should be clear to all that the USA is seriously risking turning Mexico from an ally into an enemy.

Decades ago, I concluded that Mexico would one-day help the Europeans against the USA. Reactions from Mexican officials suggest that day is getting closer.
