Donald Trump’s pledge to relocate the US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem is expected to provoke trouble:

Trump Plan to Move Embassy From Tel Aviv to Jerusalem Poses Challenges

December 18, 2016

Donald Trump’s pledge to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem poses monumental challenges in one of the world’s most tense environments, according to experts.

Relocating the diplomatic outpost to the holy city is “a very big priority” for the president-elect, aide Kellyanne Conway told radio host Hugh Hewitt earlier this week.

David Friedman, Trump’s pick for ambassador to Israel, reinforced this commitment Thursday, saying he looks forward to serving “from the U.S. Embassy in Israel’s eternal capital, Jerusalem.”

Trump is not the first president to make this promise. But if he follows through where others have reneged, he would please some Israelis who have long since been frustrated with the international community for not recognizing Jerusalem as their capital city.

It would also likely enrage the Arab world, largely because the Palestinians see East Jerusalem as the capital of their future state.

“This could set off demonstrations in Arab cities and capitals throughout the Middle East and the Muslim world beyond,” according to Professor Chuck Freilich at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya, an Israeli university. http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/trump-plan-move-embassy-tel-aviv-jerusalem-poses-challenges-n696396

It was wrong for other US Presidents to break their promise to relocate the US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. And while Donald Trump should keep his promise that he made, there will be issues.

Here is a related report:

JERUSALEM/WASHINGTON – A senior Palestinian official warned on Friday that implementation of Donald Trump’s pledge to relocate the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem would destroy any prospects for peace with Israel, even as a spokesman for the U.S. President-elect said he remained committed to the move.

Saeb Erekat, secretary-general of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, issued the grim prediction just a day after Trump announced his decision to nominate as ambassador to Israel David Friedman, a pro-Israel hardliner who supports continued building of Jewish settlements and shifting the embassy from Tel Aviv. 12/16/16 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-embassy-israel-jerusalem_us_5854971ee4b08debb78964cc

The Bible shows that Jerusalem will be an issue:

1 The burden of the word of the Lord against Israel. Thus says the Lord, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him: 2 “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. 3 And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it. (Zechariah 12:1-3)

Jerusalem is already considered burdensome by much of the international community.

Jesus spoke of ‘troubles’ as part of the ‘beginning of sorrows’ (Mark 13:8)–these sorrows precede the Great Tribulation.

Expect more problems, more terrorism.

December 18, 2016

There were almost 500 attacks against U.S. diplomatic facilities between 1987 and 2013, according to a report issued last week by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which criticized the cost of building modern embassies. …

Trump’s plan appears to be in its very early stages, and the current U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv would not give NBC News any information regarding its size or number of employees.

“It will be very, very costly to build and very, very costly to defend,” according to Jane Loeffler, an architectural historian and author of “The Architecture of Diplomacy: Building America’s Embassies.” http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/trump-plan-move-embassy-tel-aviv-jerusalem-poses-challenges-n696396

Notice the following prophecy which indicates Palestinian terrorism:

8 The Lord sent a word against Jacob, And it has fallen on Israel. 9 All the people will know — Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria — Who say in pride and arrogance of heart: 10 ‘The bricks have fallen down, But we will rebuild with hewn stones; The sycamores are cut down, But we will replace them with cedars.” 11 Therefore the Lord shall set up The adversaries of Rezin against him, And spur his enemies on, 12 The Syrians before and the Philistines behind; And they shall devour Israel with an open mouth. (Isaiah 9:8-12)

The Bible shows that terrorism is prophesied:

14 ‘But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments, 15 and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant, 16 I also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. 17 I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you. (Leviticus 26:14-17)

25 The sword shall destroy outside; There shall be terror within (Deuteronomy 32:25)

12 “Cry and wail, son of man; For it will be against My people, Against all the princes of Israel. Terrors including the sword will be against My people; Therefore strike your thigh. (Ezekiel 21:12)

12 Behold, these are the ungodly,Who are always at ease; They increase in riches…19 Oh, how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors. (Psalms 73:12,19)

25 Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke, 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, 27 When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you. (Proverbs 1:25-27)

5 Also they are afraid of height, And of terrors in the way (Ecclesiastes 12:5).

Moving the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is expected to spark terrorism–presuming such a move occurs.

As far as Palestinian support of terrorism, notice the following:

A new generation of angry, disillusioned Palestinians is driving the current wave of clashes with Israeli forces . . . some say they want to emulate those killed or wounded in confrontations or attacks on Israelis – like Mohannad Halabi, the 19-year-old law student from the West Bank who stabbed to death two Israelis in Jerusalem’s Old City on the weekend before being shot by police.

“We are all impressed by what he has done,” said Malik Hussein, the 19-year-old friend and fellow law student at Quds University near Jerusalem. “The day after the attack, university took to the streets and clashed with Israeli soldiers. Mohannad’s way is the only way to liberate Palestine.” (Daraghmeh M, Laub K. Disillusioned Palestinian youth drive unrest. National Post, October 7, 2015, A1)

Of course, the solution to Palestine and Jerusalem is not war and terrorism, but the return of Jesus Christ and the establishment of the Kingdom of God.  Malik Hussein and others should, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem” (Psalm 122:6).
