Robert Prevost speaks in Vatican City and also explains why he chose name Pope Leo XIV

Pope Leo XIV spoke in Vatican City today:

May 11, 2025

Addressing crowds in St. Peter’s Square on Sunday, Pope Leo XIV noted the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and — echoing his predecessor Pope Francis — declared, “Never again war.” https://abcnews.go.com/International/live-updates/papal-conclave-live-updates-cardinals-gather-vatican-elect/?id=121506573

Here is more related to Pope Leo XIV:

May 11, 2025

“In his opening remarks, he mentioned being a missionary church that includes all people, and that comes right out of Pope Francis,” Dennis Doyle, professor emeritus at the University of Dayton in Ohio, told Fox News Digital. …

“Pope Francis’ first major document was called ‘Evangelii gaudium’, ‘The joy of the gospel,” Doyle said.

In his evanescent address, Pope Leo XIV said, “To all you brothers and sisters of Rome, Italy, of all the world, we want to be a synodal church, walking and always seeking peace, charity, closeness, especially to those who are suffering.”

“Pope Francis was really big into this idea of synodality,” Doyle said. …

“For him, in his very brief remarks, to say we must be a synodal church, that is a big signal that he intends to continue much of what Pope Francis was about,” he said of Pope Leo XIV. https://www.foxnews.com/world/pope-leo-xivs-first-address-draws-similarities-pope-francis-papacy-while-preserving-forsaken-traditions

Pope Leo XIV is the “bridge builder” the cardinals look for when selecting a new Pope, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the archbishop of New York, told Newsmax Saturday. https://www.wlsam.com/2025/05/10/cardinal-dolan-to-newsmax-pope-leo-is-a-bridge-builder/

So, we see a couple of reports of Leo following in the direction of Pope Francis.

That is not unexpected. Pope Leo XIV’s pushing of synodality shows that he has an ecumenical agenda.

Notice some comments in my book that came out Thursday titled The Last Pope of the Malachy Prophecies: Do Biblical and Greco-Roman Catholic Prophecies Point to Pope Leo XIV?:

Upon becoming Pope Leo XIV, he called for people to build bridges through dialogue. Note that the term Ponifex Maximus literally means “Greatest Bridge Builder.”

Leo XIV will be ecumenical.

In my view, Pope Francis took steps to set the stage for the arrival of the final Antichrist and antipope. Francis’ involvement in political matters, including him being granted the Charlemagne Prize, which is given to the one who pushes European unity, has helped set the stage for the last pope.

The last pope will push for greater European unity. At least by virtue of his timing, Pope Leo XIV will push for greater European unity. …

Yesterday, he explained why he chose the name of Pope Leo XIV:

Why is he called Leo XIV? The official answer given by the Pope

On the morning of Saturday, May 10, Pope Leo XIV held a meeting with all the cardinals in the Vatican. It was a two-part meeting: first he gave a speech in which, among other things, he explained why he had chosen the name he bears: “Sensing myself called to continue in this same path, I chose to take the name Leo XIV. There are different reasons for this, but mainly because Pope Leo XIII in his historic Encyclical Rerum Novarum addressed the social question in the context of the first great industrial revolution. In our own day, the Church offers to everyone the treasury of her social teaching in response to another industrial revolution and to developments in the field of artificial intelligence that pose new challenges for the defence of human dignity, justice and labour”. https://zenit.org/2025/05/10/why-is-he-called-leo-xiv-the-official-answer-given-by-the-pope/

A couple of days before he explained why he chose the name Leo XIV, I wrote the following in my Amazon Kindle book titled The Last Pope of the Malachy Prophecies: Do Biblical and Greco-Roman Catholic Prophecies Point to Pope Leo XIV?:

One wonders if he took that name, at least partially, because of Pope Leo XIII. Here is some information on him:

Pope Leo XIII … is well known for his intellectualism and his attempts to define the position of the Catholic Church with regard to modern thinking.  … He influenced the Mariology of the Catholic Church and promoted both the rosary and the scapular. … Leo XIII is particularly remembered for his belief that pastoral activity in political sociology was also a vital mission of the church as a vehicle of social justice and maintaining the rights and dignities of the human person. Leo XIII issued a record of eleven papal encyclicals on the rosary, earning him the title of the “Rosary Pope”. In addition, he approved two new Marian scapulars.  (Pope Leo XIII. Wikipedia, accessed 05/08/25)

Prior to becoming pope, Leo XIII helped arrange an ecumenical meeting which has been called the First Vatican Council. …

Roman Catholics have written about future ecumenical plans: …

Priest Herman Kramer (20th century): … the Apocalypse … The thunders may mean the dogmatic declarations of the Church against infidels expressed in an ecumenical council … such as that of … the Infallibility of the Pope … The Seven Thunders may then be declarations of an ecumenical council clearing up all that was left unfinished by the magisterial office of the Church, before God will permit Satan to exert his supreme efforts to destroy her from without. The Seven Thunders will strengthen the faithful and loyal clergy … (Kramer H., pp. 239,241-242)

The Bible teaches that the Seven Thunders happen near the end (cf. Revelation 10:1-4), so if this ecumenical council comes, it would be expected to be near the end. It also teaches that the successful ecumenical religion (Revelation 13:4,8) will not have God’s approval (Revelation 14,18).

Yet, certain private prophecies seem to praise the success of this ecumenical movement:

Blessed Anna-Maria Taigi (19th century): Whole nations will come back to the Church and the face of the earth will be renewed. Russia … and China will come into the Church. …

Pope Leo XIII (1893): To take care, therefore, of the preservation and propagation of the Catholic religion among the Hindus, a Hindu clergy has to be formed that could administer the sacraments and govern the Christian people properly, no matter how menacing the times … Be sure that the role of Christianity in such remote regions becomes well known. Make your people understand that something must be done for the Hindus. (Leo XIII. AD EXTREMAS ON SEMINARIES FOR NATIVE CLERGY. Encyclical of Pope Leo XIII promulgated on June 24, 1893. http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/leo_xiii/encyclicals/documents/hf_l-xiii_enc_24061893_ad-extremas_en.html viewed 07/19/09)

We see from the above that certain Greco-Roman Catholics expect those in China, Russia, India, and elsewhere to accept their religion in the end. …

Some Roman Catholic sources are indicating that something should apparently happen in the early portion of the 21st century. … notice two accounts about a pontiff who had a vision in 1884:

Pope Leo XIII had a vision of a confrontation between God and Satan. Pope Leo was made to understand that Satan would be allowed one hundred years to tempt and try to destroy the Church. In the vision, Satan chose for his one hundred years the Twentieth Century. (Flynn, pp. 4-5)

Pope Leo XIII had a remarkable vision…When asked what had happened, he explained that, as he was about to leave the foot of the altar, he suddenly heard voices – two voices, one kind and gentle, the other guttural and harsh. They seemed to come from near the tabernacle. As he listened, he heard the following conversation:

The guttural voice, the voice of Satan in his pride, boasting to Our Lord: “I can destroy your Church.”

The gentle voice of Our Lord: “You can? Then go ahead and do so.”

Satan: “To do so, I need more time and more power.”

Our Lord: “How much time? How much power?”

Satan: “75 to 100 years, and a greater power over those who will give themselves over to my service.”

Our Lord: “You have the time, you will have the power. Do with them what you will.” (The Vision Of Pope Leo XIII, October 13, 1884 http://www.stjosephschurch.net/leoxiii.htm viewed 02/25/09)

If the 20th century alone was meant in the vision, then the Pope’s vision was completely false (as opposed to being a reverse mirror image of God’s plan as some private prophecies seem to be). In order for the above to fit in with other Greco-Roman Catholic private prophecies, it would probably need to be interpreted that the seventy-five to one hundred years started at about the same time as the time frame as that indicated by Nun Emmerich. If so, the seventy-five years ended in 2008, and the outside date (based on one hundred years) would be about 2033.  Unless this Pope had it completely wrong, some part of the end would seem to occur fairly soon.

So, Leo XIV confirmed he choose that name in honor of Leo XIII–a person who promoted a social agenda, and one who made a prediction related to a time near where we are.

The Continuing Church of God is pleased to announce this sermon from its ContinuingCOG channel:

Pope Leo XIV & Antichrist Prophecies

On May 8, 2025, Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost became Pope Leo XIV. Could he possibly be the last pope of Irish Bishop Malachy’s prophecy list of popes? When did Roman Bishops first take the title of pope? What do the words pope and Pontifex Maximus mean? Are there Greco-Roman Catholic prophecies that point to an antipope being the final Antichrist? If so, does the Bible prophesy that he will do great signs, persecute, and one day betray the Church of Seven Hills in Revelation 17? How many antipopes have there officially been? What about the late Pope Francis? Was Cardinal Prevost the stated papal candidate for Freemason Giuliano Di Bernardo? Could Leo XIV be the dreaded ‘Peter the Roman’? Do the Bible and Greco-Roman Catholic prophesies point to the rise of an ecumenical interfaith religion with leaders that perform miracles and great signs and prodigies? What about the 325 A.D. and 2025 Council of Nicea? Do any Roman Catholic prophesies warn about the rise of a ‘secret set’ that will cause the Vatican troubles? Will the final pope betray the Roman Catholic faith? Could the Malachy list have demonic involvement? What about Mystery Babylon, 666, the Beast, the Great Monarch, persecution, and the end of the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom? What are similarities between the last pope of Greco-Roman prophecies and the two-horned beast of Revelation 13? What are the scriptures that mention the antichrist in the Bible? Will the last and final pope betray the Church of Rome? Dr. Thiel covers these issues and more.

Here is a link to our sermon video: Pope Leo XIV & Antichrist Prophecies.

That said, my book about the Malachy prophecies and how Pope Leo XIV could be the one to fulfill the last one is now available on Amazon Kindle: The Last Pope of the Malachy Prophecies: Do Biblical and Greco-Roman Catholic Prophecies Point to Pope Leo XIV?

A print version should be available soon.
