CCOG has a ‘more sure word of prophecy’ and a list of why it is the most faithful 21st century Church of God

Earlier today, I made a post which had the following from PCG’s thetrumpet.com website:

Well, while prophecy is not everything (truth and love need to be considered), failed predictions show that PCG is not “God’s one true Church.” My earlier post today showed why that is the case for Gerald Flurry and highlighted various predictions related to Donald Trump and his presidency (see PCG’s Gerald Flurry improperly asserts, ‘We Have a Sure Word of Prophecy’).

While prophecy is NOT the only criteria to determine the most faithful Church of God, notice the following list of predictions and warnings put out by the Continuing Church of God:

Prediction During late August 2008, Bob Thiel told LCG minister Davy Crockett that unless evangelists would implement certain matters that God was about to strike a top LCG leader with something. LCG’s top evangelist, Roderick C. Meredith, suffered a ministroke on September 19, 2008.
Prayer On February 4, 2009, Dr. Meredith asked Bob Thiel to pray that he would live another 7 – 15 years, so Bob Thiel did. Dr. Meredith died on May 18, 2017–a little over 8 years after that prayer.

Possible Divine Intervention During the Feast of Tabernacles in October 2009, an odd feeling came over Bob Thiel that pointed to looking to see if the beginning of sorrows may have began. After researching and finding that events consistent with the ride of the 1st horseman occurred, Bob Thiel telephoned Dr. Roderick C. Meredith and told him. While his church had taught that the beginning of sorrows had not begun prior to that, it taught shortly after that telephone call that it had begun.
Speculative
Prediction		 On June 24, 2010, Bob Thiel warned that “Certain biblical, Chinese, and other prophecies…discuss that how Australia itself may become taken over. By virtue of her timing, Julia Gillard may inadvertently pursue policies that will lead to the fulfillment of various end time prophecies.” On November 10, 2011, because an agreement with Julia Gillard, US troops were stationed in Darwin, Australia, and by November 18, 2011 China pointed to this as a reason to consider military action against Australia.
Speculative
Predictions		 From 2010 to 2015, Bob Thiel made and/or posted speculative predictions related to Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg.

 

He also made others since.

Prayer Although told by two LCG ministers (Dr. Jeff Fall and Gary Ehman) in the late Fall of 2011 that he did not need to have hands laid on him to be a prophet, Bob Thiel prayed that something would happen related to his ‘prophet’ situation in a planned December 2011 trip to Charlotte, North Carolina. On December 15, 2011, Gaylyn Bonjour anointed Bob Thiel and prayed that he be granted a double-portion of God’s Spirit. Gaylyn Bonjour said this was reminiscent of the passing of the mantle, that he realized what he may have unintentionally did, and that what he did could not be undone. This answered Bob Thiel’s prayer.

 

Gaylyn Bonjour also confirmed on November 28, 2019 his belief that his prayer was answered.
Prayer On December 16, 2011, Richard Ames prayed that Bob Thiel would continue his evangelical/prophetic efforts and LCG evangelists Dr. Meredith and Dr. D. Winnail gave Amen concurrence–as did Bob Thiel. Bob Thiel has continued evangelical/prophetic efforts and has been the human leader of the fastest growing COG group in the 21st century, known as the Continuing Church of God. These show the fruits of a true prophet, consistent with Jesus’ criteria in John 7:15-20.
Prediction On December 19, 2011, Bob Thiel tried to meet with Dr. Meredith to tell him that it seemed God was telling him that his wife Sheryl was about to be struck with something serious. In Dr. Meredith’s letter dated 1/12/12, he reported that his wife Sheryl (who was much younger than he) was stricken with stage four cancer. She later died on November 29, 2013.
Speculation On May 12, 2013, I warned in an online post about the threat of new coronaviruses and speculated that “novel” diseases could be a threat. In 2019, a “novel coronavirus,” later renamed COVID-19 emerged and devastated peace and normalcy around the world. In 2020, I tied that in with the possibly start of the ride of the 2nd horseman of the Apocalypse.
Prediction On December 5, 2013, Bob Thiel posted that governments, particularly in Europe,  would one day not allow cryptocurrencies like BitCoin to be private and unregulated. In late November 2021, the European Union released a paper called “Proposal for EU Regulation on Markets in Crypto-Assets.” On December 7, 2022, the EU passed rules to rules that are to “be extended to the entire crypto sector, obliging all crypto-asset service providers (CASPs) to” eliminate the possibility of privacy through various customer “due diligence” requirements.
Prediction In a book published on January 19, 2017, Bob Thiel listed many predictions related to the upcoming Donald Trump presidency. Plus he published others at cogwriter.com

Prediction In 2013, in an article about the future of Ukraine and Russia, Bob Thiel said that at least part of the territory in Ukraine would support Russia. On March 18, 2014, Russia officially annexed Crimea.
Prediction Bob Thiel specifically warned about risks associated with the coronavirus in 2013 (see Coronavirus: A new risk for humans? and Saudi Arabia warning visitors to Mecca about coronavirus risk) and 2014 (see Saudi Arabia, MERS, and Missiles and Infection-gate: A dangerous scandal hitting the USA?). Additionally, he also warned also about human engineered pathogens without mentioning the coronavirus in 2018 (see DARPA to weaponize insects to spread viruses across the population… sinister plans exposed by team of scientists) and 2019 (see DARPA: ‘Militarized Microbes’ To Spread GMO Bacteria). A novel coronavirus hit China in late 2019 and resulted in a worldwide pandemic in 2020. Many believe it was a human-engineered virus.
Prediction On March 18, 2019, Bob Thiel posted: It remains my view that Crimea and at least parts of eastern Ukraine will ultimately align with Russia. International sanctions will not stop biblical prophecies from being fulfilled. Sanctions did not stop Russia.
Prediction On February 22, 2022, two days before Russia’s ‘special military operation’ into Ukraine began, Bob Thiel posted: I expect that Donetsk and Luhansk will either be annexed by Russia and/or join its Eurasian Economic Union. On September 30, 2022, Russia formally annexed Donetsk and Luhansk.
Predictions In a book printed on January 21, 2021, titled, Biden-Harris: Prophecies and Destruction, Bob Thiel had various warnings, predictions, and speculations of what would occur during the Biden-Harris Administration. By August 22, 2024, there were at least partial fulfillments of at least 20 warnings, predictions, and one speculation. Prediction In a book printed in July 2023 titled,
Lost Tribes and Prophecies: What will happen to Australia, the British Isles, Canada, Europe, New Zealand and the United States of America?, Bob Thiel had the following statement on page 293 of the print edition and page 317 of online version of my book is the following statement:Gold will set records in U.S. dollar terms.

As far as predictions and warnings that have been related to the second Donald Trump presidency, see PCG’s Gerald Flurry improperly asserts, ‘We Have a Sure Word of Prophecy’.

The Apostle Peter wrote:

19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: (2 Peter 1:19. KJV)

Yes, a more sure word of prophecy is in the Continuing Church of God (CCOG).

That said, recall that Gerald Flurry asserted:

Discover the dazzling truth about world events and God’s one true Church, as revealed by the sure word of prophecy. https://www.thetrumpet.com/31608-we-have-a-sure-word-of-prophecy

Gerald Flurry, in essence, is inadvertently telling people to become part of the CCOG.

But, there is more to the most faithful church than prophecy.

Some have wondered, “How is the Continuing Church of God (CCOG) different from the other former Worldwide Church of God (WCG)-connected churches with the ten-twenty most amount of congregants?”

Here are fourteen ways:

  1. We are more biblically-focused. Our sermons tend to contain more scriptures than others–enough so that our English online sermons have truly helped fulfill Matthew 28:19-20–we have taught all that the New Testament records that Jesus taught (proof can be seen in a sermon listing of the Gospels, etc. with links at COGWriter.com). We also read the entire ‘book of the law’ every seven years at the Feast of Tabernacles as instructed in Deuteronomy 31:10-13 (see also The Feast of Tabernacles: A Time to Learn the Law). One trait of Philadelphians is that they “have kept my word” according to Jesus (Revelation 3:7-8), and what we have done is more than any other current COG that we are aware of.
  2. We have more information in more languages in order to fulfill the commissions of Matthew 24:14 and Matthew 28:19-20 to reach the world with the Gospel of the Kingdom of God and other teachings (see also Preaching the Gospel in Over 1500 Languages). Our English language booklet, Gospel of the Kingdom of God, has been translated into over 1500 languages and dialects. No other  Church of God group has ever had material available in that many languages throughout the entire church age. Furthermore, as we get closer to the end of the church age, this is necessary–and this looks to be needed to help support the fulfillment of those who will converted from all tongues throughout the tribulation (cf. Revelation 7:9,14).
  3. Many teachings have been restored in more detail (see Continuing Church of God, Elijah, and Restoring All Things). For some examples, check out our books: Continuing History of the Church of God, Proof Jesus is the Messiah, The MYSTERY of GOD’s PLAN Why Did God Create Anything? Why did God make you?, and Universal OFFER of Salvation, Apokatastasis: Can God save the lost in an age to come? Hundreds of scriptures reveal God’s plan of salvation (watch also CCOG’s 7 years of Restoration).
  4. We were the first group in the 21st century to boldly, and more accurately, teach why God created anything and more fuller why He made humans (see The MYSTERY of GOD’s PLAN Why Did God Create Anything? Why did God make you?). Which is: God made what He did so that eternity would be better and that God made humans so each who ultimately accept Him, in their own way, will give love to help make eternity better for themselves and everyone else (it is not clear if the other COG’s teach this yet).
  5. We post more accurate information online on prophecy and world events as a watchman daily (for example, check out Daily Bible News and Prophecy Updates), which shows we are serious about Jesus’ admonition to watch (Mark 13:37) and warn (cf. What is the Ezekiel Warning?).
  6. We do not have the prophetic errors that many teach, which (unless they change) will prevent them from knowing when the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21) will start until it is basically too late (for details, check out The Laodicean Church Era and Do You Hold to Any of These Laodicean Prophetic Errors?) to flee (cf. Zephaniah 2:1-3; Revelation 12:14-17; see also There is a Place of Safety for the Philadelphians. Why it May Be Near Petra). And yes, like Jesus (cf. Matthew 15), we call out religious groups who teach errors and hold onto improper traditions (e.g. see Do You Hold to Any of These Laodicean Prophetic Errors?).
  7. While we use mass media as do other groups, we have also used methods that other groups have not –see Continuing Church of God Multimedia page.
  8. Like the start of the Philadelphian era was preceded by a dream from God given to a woman, the official 21st century start of the remnant continuation of that era (cf. Hebrews 13:1, literal) was also preceded by a dream from God given to a woman–furthermore several associated with CCOG have had confirmed dreams (see Dreams, the Bible, the Radio Church of God, and the Continuing Church of God). We are not just one of scores of COG groups, but the only mantle-possessing Philadelphian organization and the leader of the Philadelphian continuing remnant that God is using to go through doors He opens (Revelation 3:7-8) for the fulfillment of Matthew 24:14, Romans 11:25, etc. in the final phase of the work.
  9. We have the signs and are doing the work of the Philadelphian remnant during this Laodicean-dominated age. For details, check out the article: Why is there a Philadelphian remnant of the true Christian Church of God?
  10. Unlike the claimed COG groups with a claimed prophet, CCOG is the only group whose prophet first had hands laid upon him by another related to that role (and that was done after being told by a long-serving evangelist that God may consider him to be a prophet; see also How To Determine If Someone is a True Prophet of God) and he received dreams consistent with how God says He communicates with His prophets (Numbers 12:6). We also believe we best practice biblical governance (see also The Bible, Peter, Paul, John, Polycarp, Herbert W. Armstrong, Roderick C. Meredith, and Bob Thiel on Church Government) and that is part of why God has blessed us. We are also the only COG group that seems to have many of the signs the Apostle Peter said the end time faithful would have in Acts 2:17-18 (see also Does the CCOG have the confirmed signs of Acts 2:17-18?).
  11. CCOG is the only one of the ‘top ten’ US headquartered COG’s whose top human leader has not taken a salary. Such monies instead have been used to support the poor (Galatians 2:10, 6:10) and preach the gospel to the poor (Luke 4:18), particularly poor Gentiles (cf. Romans 11:25). We also spend the highest portion of our income to do this than any of the ‘top ten’ groups we know of (cf. Luke 12:34; more details of CCOG spending are shown at our Donations page). Philadelphia means “love of the brethren’ and we show that love through proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God around the world and supporting poor brethren. “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble” (James 1:27). Supporting the poor is a “philadelphian” action according to the Apostle Paul (Romans 12:10-13)–he also wrote that was proof of his ministry (2 Corinthians 9:13)–hence, yes, that is also a proof of the ministry of the CCOG.
  12. We have been the fastest growing x-WCG group in the 21st century and hence have the “fruits” Jesus said to look for (Matthew 7:20).
  13. Most of our growth did NOT come from former WCG members. Our focus includes supporting the fulfillment of Romans 11:23-25 (e.g. What About Romans 11:25 and the Full Number of the Gentiles?) as well as providing the ‘Ezekiel warning’ to ‘Israel’ (e.g. What is the Ezekiel Warning?) (many are not serious enough about Romans 11:25 and some are lukewarm when it comes to making warnings related to specific sins). This focus is more than just providing a witness only, but also includes efforts we believe can be used for God granting conversions (John 6:44; Romans 9:27, 11:25).
  14. Knowing that a ‘famine of the word is coming’ (Amos 8:11-12) and that Philadelphian Christians are to do the work when we can (John 9:4; Revelation 3:7-13), we are strategically and specifically preparing for the ‘short work‘ (cf. Romans 9:27-28) to “instruct many” (Daniel 11:33) through literature, websites, media, videos, visits, giving personal testimony, and other means, that will help lead to God’s determination that Matthew 24:14 has been sufficiently provided as a witness for the end to come (see also Preparing for the ‘Short Work’ and The Famine of the Word). This is also why the CCOG is the only one of the ‘top ten’ US headquartered COG’s not to be registered as 501(c)(3) as the the Continuing Church of God chose a better option which should better allow the work to be done as God would want it.

And there are more.

Including that we are more upfront than many about what we do teach. We are “speaking the truth in love, {so true Christians} may grow up in all things into Him who is the head — Christ — from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love” (Ephesians 4:15-16). The apostles were confirmed by signs that followed them (Mark 16:20) and there have been signs that have confirmed the Continuing Church of God (for some details, see Does the CCOG have the confirmed signs of Acts 2:17-18?).

We teach the truths that were restored to the Philadelphian era of the Church of God (see, for example, Statement of Beliefs of the Continuing Church of God), as well including various ones others have lost. We have restored details and other information that early Church of God leaders wrote about in the earliest centuries of the Christian church as well as what Philadelphia-era Church of God leaders wrote of as well.

The New Testament teaches:

21 Test all things; hold fast what is good. (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

Sadly, most true Christians in the end time, according to Jesus, will not sufficiently do that, but instead will be self-satisfied Laodiceans per Revelation 3:14-21.

Consider that the Book of Proverbs warns:

16 The lazy man is wiser in his own eyes Than seven men who can answer sensibly. (Proverbs 26:16)

Now, most end time Christians do not believe that they are lazy, but wise.

Yet, they overlook evidence because they are uncomfortable with the idea that there could now be a prophet that they should heed.

6. The Philadelphia Church Era and Remnant Though the era was predominant circa 1933 A.D. to 1986 A.D., but some few faithful are still in it as a remnant has continued. The old Radio Church of God and old Worldwide Church of God were part of the era, and now the remnant of that era is basically the most faithful in the Church of God, like who hold to the beliefs and practices of the Continuing Church of God. 7. The Laodicean Church Era has been predominant circa 1986 A.D. to present.–and most end time Christians are part of it. The Laodiceans are non-Philadelphians who mainly descended from the old WCG or its offshoots.  They do not properly understand the work or biblical prophecies and will face the Great Tribulation if they do not repent.
