Australian House Votes to Defend Marriage

COGwriter

Some in Australia seem to be bucking a trend in other Anglo-dominated lands:

Australia has overwhelmingly chosen to preserve the traditional definition of marriage as a union between one man and one woman by voting against a bill that sought to amend the definition to include same-sex couples.
The House of Representatives voted 98-42 against the legislation on Wednesday, although a separate bill on gay marriage was also to be debated in the Senate, The Associated Press reported.

It is actually somewhat of an embarrassment that the vote was necessary.  The problem is that votes like that can change.  The USA, for example, approved into law something called the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in the 1990s, but its current president will not enforce it and wants it overturned (Obama Announces He Wants to Repeal Defense of Marriage Act and Increase Debt).   More and more USA states are redefining marriage to include same-sex arrangements that the Bible would never support (Romans 1:18-32).

Hopefully, the Australian Senate will make the biblically-appropriate decision.  Australia needs to be careful to not make the same type of mistakes that the USA has in this area.
