Brexit, Nigel Farage, and a second referendum

While Brexit remains a concern for the UK, the Europeans are concerned as well:

17 January 2018

French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe has said a no-deal Brexit looks “less and less unlikely” and has launched a contingency plan to prepare for it.

After the UK Parliament rejected the withdrawal agreement, Mr Philippe said laws had to be passed and millions invested in French ports and airports.

An EU official will now visit all 27 capitals to co-ordinate no-deal plans.

EU countries with close UK ties have already begun preparing for its departure on 29 March without a deal.

“We are taking this very seriously now as the possibility of a no-deal Brexit is becoming more possible after Tuesday night,” said European Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas. “This is a work which is ongoing and it’s developing fully. We are not taking any chances.”

He also revealed that Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and UK Prime Minister Theresa May had texted each other since her defeat in Parliament on Tuesday, but said they had not spoken.

Germany’s Economy Minister, Peter Altmeier, has warned “everyone in Europe would lose” from the UK leaving without an agreement. …

Dutch Foreign Trade Minister Ingrid Kaag said on Wednesday night that the Netherlands was launching a major information campaign on 28 January.

“After Ireland, the Dutch economy is most entwined with that of the UK,” she said, citing fisheries, meat-processing and flower exports. She warned that many small and medium enterprises had failed to make sufficient preparation for a no-deal Brexit. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-46906046

Some are calling for a second referendum:

The UK’s Nigel Farage was one of the most influential voices to get the UK to leave the EU and call for the original Brexit vote.

Last month, he referred to the Brexit deal that UK Prime Minister Theresa May negotiated with the EU as the “worst deal in history” (see ‘N. Ireland to Stay Locked in EU Customs Union: Brexit Update’ ‘Worst Deal in History’).

While that was a bit of hyperbole, the UK Parliament voted it down in an unprecedented manner on Tuesday of this week (see Parliament strongly rejects May’s Brexit deal).

Anyway, Nigel Farage made some comments about Theresa May and a possible second Brexit vote:

17 January 2019

NIGEL Farage … said … “If Mrs May had any sense of honour or integrity, having completely mishandled the government’s flagship policy over the last two years and suffered that horrendous loss last night, she should simply resign.

“But, of course, Mrs May never resigns.” https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1073303/Brexit-news-vote-Theresa-May-no-deal-Nigel-Farage-withdrawal-LBC-no-confidence

Updated 17 January 2019

A new referendum on Brexit, reportedly desired by the UK elite, would result in even bigger support for leaving the EU, former UKIP leader and one of the party’s founders, Nigel Farage, has said as Theresa May’s plan flopped. … The politician has posted a video that was recorded before the vote, in which he correctly predicted May’s deal flopping in parliament and warned his supporters of the apparent desire of the political elite to “start to push towards a second referendum” on the UK-EU divorce. …

“It is quite possible that we could leave with no deal on WTO, and as far as I’m concerned, no deal – no problem. But it is more likely that many in our political class will try to weasel their way out of this,” Farage warned.

Even if Westminster manages to push through a new Brexit referendum, a new vote would actually show even bigger support for the idea of leaving the EU, Farage argued.

“The British may be a very placid people, very laid back, but I promise you: if they get pushed too far it’s a lion that will roar. We will be even more defiant if we have to fight a second referendum and we will win it by a bigger majority,” the politician said on Wednesday. https://www.rt.com/uk/448924-farage-new-brexit-referendum/

As far as Nigel Farage goes, last year a reader sent me a link to an article in which he recently made some public statements about Russia, Donald Trump, and the European Union:

NIGEL FARAGE blasted the European Union for posing a bigger threat to Britain than Vladimir Putin and urged the West to “stop poking the Russian bear”.

12 January 2017

He said: “This constant eastwards expansion of the European Union coupled with the fact they’re now building a European Union army worries me.

“We’re back in a Cold War. We’re back in shadow boxing. Whether Putin is a threat or not, let’s please stop poking the Russian bear it simply doesn’t make sense.”

has backed as the man to build relationships with Vladimir Putin. …

“There’s only one man that is going to break this deadlock and that man is Donald J. Trump,” he said.

“You can like him, you can hate him, but one thing for certain, he’s going to do things differently. He will give this a go.

“There will be a meeting in Reykjavik or somewhere at some point during this year. I wish him luck. I hope we do find some common ground. I hope we do manage to coordinate better in the fight against .

“And what I’m certain of is we will have lost absolutely nothing in doing this. Our leaders in this country in the EU and the rest of the West haven’t got the vision.” . http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/753200/Nigel-Farage-LBC-EU-dangerous-Britain-Russia.

The Bible prophesies that Europe will have a great army in Daniel 11:25.

But what about the idea of European geographic expansion?

Well, there is a portion of scripture about that that I and others have sometimes pointed to. Notice something from a book I wrote in 2009:

Millennia ago, Daniel wrote a prophecy that discussed a little horn that would mainly expand to the south and east:

8 And out of one of them came a little horn which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the Glorious Land. 10 And it grew up to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and some of the stars to the ground, and trampled them. 11 He even exalted himself as high as the Prince of the host; and by him the daily sacrifices were taken away, and the place of His sanctuary was cast down. 12 Because of transgression, an army was given over to the horn to oppose the daily sacrifices; and he cast truth down to the ground. He did all this and prospered (Daniel 8:9-12).

And while the above has had a past fulfillment, this prophecy seems to be dual (compare with Daniel 11:27-–39)—and seems to be for our time.

What is now the EU began as a small organization involving three small countries located in the northern and western regions of Europe (Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg, called the Benelux nations)—they then helped form the European Economic Community. This European Economic Community expanded mainly south and east of the Benelux nations, into what had become the expanded European Union. Now, about 500 million people are under a new (though not completely united) government headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. (Thiel B. 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect. Nazarene Books, 2009)

In the old Radio Church of God, the late evangelist Dr. Hoeh taught that this little horn of Daniel 8 was the power that would become the final King of the North:

Turn in your Bible to verse 9: “And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.” …

The King of the North

The little horn in Daniel 8 is none other than the LAST KING of one of the four divisions of Alexander’s Empire. He is, in fact, the final “King of the North” described in Daniel 11. (Hoeh H. The 2300 Days. Plain Truth, August 1965)

Europe has mainly grown south and east since the formation of Benelux.

Is Nigel Farage right that the European Union and not Russia is the major threat?

Well, Bible prophecy does NOT tell of Russia starting what could be called World War III (WWIII), but it shows that a European power will do that. Whether or not it will actually be called the European Union is not specified in the Bible.

Notice the following about the King of the North (called “he” below) will one day destroy the USA and divide its lands for gain:

39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain. (Daniel 11:39)

For more about why that King of the North is European and NOT Russian, check out the article Is Russia the King of the North? and/or watch the video Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European? For more about why Daniel 11:39 is referring to destruction of the USA, check out the article USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses. Despite real and potential problems, the final European King of the North Beast power will arise.

As prophesied, the European power has expanded to the east. The Bible teaches that Europe will have unification problems (Daniel 2:40-43). Yet, the Bible also teaches that one day Europe will reorganize and arise and surprise people (Revelation 17:11-13; Revelation 13:1-8).

The European Union is concerned about its security and economy. Since the election of Donald Trump it has agreed to move to support military expansion (watch PESCO and a Great European Army).

This is one point that people like Nigel Farage will make should there actually be a second Brexit referendum.

Since the Brexit vote, the EU has made it clear that it intends to be a military power.

Plus, it has made it clearer that it wants to have an empire (see Donald Trump lashes out against Europe defending itself–Europeans pushing for an empire) and that national sovereignty should be replaced by a superstate (e.g.  Macron warns ‘nationalist leprosy’ threatens Europe), though not all agree ( GI: ‘Only way for the EU to survive … is to recast itself as a club of nation-states’).

These were points that people like Nigel Farage tried to make before the Brexit vote in June of 2016.

Since then, Europe has moved enough in that direction that the anti-Brexiters (known as the ‘remainers’) will not be able to deny Europe’s superstate ambitions.

We will see if another referendum is called for.

Brexit and the fate of Northern Ireland, Gibraltar, the UK, and the USA On April 29, 2017, 27 of the nations of the European Union agreed to certain guidelines for the negotiations with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland which gave its notice to leave on March 29, 2017. These guidelines are contrary to what the UK wants. Does the EU intend the UK to pay a price for leaving the EU? What does Spain want? What does the Republic of Ireland want? Will Northern Ireland and Gibraltar eventually fall under European control? Will the UK and USA be conquered? What does the Bible teach? Dr. Thiel answer these questions and more in this video.
Forbes’ Brexit Monster is the Beast of Revelation Various ones have been properly convinced that there is a plan for a European superstate. Forbes’ writer Tom Worstall wrote that the Brexit vote was about the United Kingdom “not joining the monster of the European Union to come.” The Bible tells of a Beast monster that will arise in the end times in Europe. Dr. Thiel cites news reports, as well as the Old and New Testaments, to show that the monster many fear will arise in Europe, despite the vote by the British to exit the European Union. Will the UK Lose Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands? For many years, the major sea gates of the world were possessed/controlled by the United States (Panama Canal and certain locations in the Pacific ocean) and the British Empire (Straits of Malacca, Singapore, Suez Canal, Bab el Mandeb, Strait of Hormuz, Simon’s Town/Cape of Good Hope, Malta, etc.), and many are no longer under their control. Spain wants Gibraltar and Argentina wants the Falklands (also known as the Malvinas). UK Prime Minister David Cameron says the UK will defend the Falklands Gibraltar. Post Brexit Prophecy On June 23, 2016, the voters of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) chose to leave the European Union. Dr. Thiel explains from biblical prophecies what is ahead for the UK, Europe, and even the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. This is a video.
