VOA: ‘Netanyahu Vows to Annex Jewish Settlements in West Bank’ COGwriter: Could this ultimately trigger war?

COGwriter

Voice of America (VOA) reported the following:

Netanyahu Vows to Annex Jewish Settlements in West Bank

April 7, 2019

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that if re-elected, he would annex Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank.

In an interview Saturday with Israeli Channel 12 News, Netanyahu said Israel would “go to the next stage” and retain control of the West Bank, imposing Israeli sovereignty without uprooting existing settlements.

“I will give sovereignty, but I don’t differentiate between the settlement blocs and the isolated settlements, because from my perspective, any point of settlement is Israeli, and we have responsibility, as the Israeli government. I will not uproot anyone, and I will not transfer sovereignty to the Palestinians,” he said.

“If we have learned anything,” Netanyahu continued, “it is that when we abandon territories, Islamic extremism emerges immediately and slaughters us, and I won’t give them the heart of the state of Israel.”

Netanyahu’s comments appealed to small far-right parties and hardline voters, who object to ceding lands to the Palestinians.

Settlements are one of the most heated issues in efforts to restart Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, frozen since 2014.

A spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Nabil Abu Rdainah, told Reuters news agency that “any measures and any announcements will not change the facts. Settlements are illegal and they will be removed.”  https://www.voanews.com/a/netanuahu-vows-to-annex-jewish-settlements-in-west-bank/4865308.html

Here is a little more about this:

7 April 2019

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has said he will annex Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank if he is re-elected.

Israelis go to the polls on Tuesday and Mr Netanyahu is competing for votes with right-wing parties who support annexing part of the West Bank.

The settlements are illegal under international law, though Israel disputes this.

Last month the US recognised the occupied Golan Heights, seized from Syria in 1967, as Israeli territory.  …

Mr Netanyahu’s right-wing Likud party is in a tight race with the new centre-right Blue and White alliance.

However other parties, some of which support annexation, could end up being kingmakers when they try to form a governing coalition. …

Mr Trump’s administration is preparing to unveil a long-awaited Middle East peace plan, which US officials say will be fair.

However the Trump administration has carried out a series of actions that have inflamed Palestinian opinion and generally pleased Israel.

In 2017 Mr Trump announced that the US recognised Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, overturning decades of official US policy.

In response Mr Abbas cut off relations with the US, saying Washington could no longer be a peace broker. …

In March President Trump officially recognised Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-47840033

Behind the scenes, U.S. officials acknowledge that the decision to formally recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights is due in no small part to Iran’s efforts to station militant fighters and terror proxy groups such as Hezbollah on the Jewish state’s borders. In Syria, for instance, Iran has operated with impunity and made the most of the country’s unrest by sending scores of highly trained militants. 04/01/19 https://freebeacon.com/national-security/u-s-eyes-new-front-to-combat-iran-in-golan-heights/

This pledge by Benjamin Netanyahu has come on the heels of US President Donald Trump’s endorsement of the Golan Heights being Israeli-controlled, instead of ‘Israeli-occupied’, territories (see Syria condemns Donald Trump’s Golan Heights position as ‘irresponsible.’ Is destruction there prophesied during the Day of the Lord? and US State Dept. Drops “Occupied Territory” From Golan Description & U.N. Human Rights Council set to condemn Israel for Golan ‘occupation’).

Benjamin Netanyahu likely feels emboldened by the Trump Administration announcement, and likely feels that he can make his campaign pledge with some degree of credibility.

Could this ultimately trigger war?

The Arab League (see Arab League summit condemns Trump administration’s Golan Heights policy) and the Europeans (see EU rejects US recognition of Israeli control of the Golan Heights–a prelude to Daniel 9:27?) do not go along with this. Nor does Iran:

For once, the Gulf States were in agreement with arch-foe Iran, which described Trump’s decision as a throwback to a bygone era of colonial land grabs.

“In a point of time when colonialism ruled, some colonialist powers did such things and bestowed parts of one country to another, but this is unprecedented in the present century,” said Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani, according to the official government website.

“Nobody could have believed that a man would come in America and unilaterally and against all international laws and regulations give away a land belonging to one country to an aggressor,” the Iranian leader added. https://www.france24.com/en/20190326-trump-golan-heights-israel-gulf-arabs-iran

Syria is technically still at war with Israel and moves like Benjamin Netanyahu is stating may be a factor in it aligning with Iran to cause destruction to hit Jerusalem as prophesied in Isaiah 22:1-14. It also should be noted that the Bible prophecies the destruction of Syria’s capital Damascus (Isaiah 17:1) and this might be done by Israel in retaliation to attacks from Syria and/or Iran.

As far as peace goes, ever since Donald Trump originally announced his intention to move the US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem on December 6, 2017, Palestinian leaders have stated that they did not want to work with US efforts on a peace plan (e.g. Palestinian President Abbas warns that lack of funds may lead to more terror and calls for international involvement for a peace deal and Palestinians consider Donald Trump’s peace ‘deal of the century’ worthless).

Now, according to biblical prophecy some type of peace deal will come to the region BEFORE Jesus returns.

It will be a temporary ‘peace deal’ (see the article The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27). It will likely come after some devastation to Israel and others. It is likely that neither the Israelis nor the Palestinians will like the deal very much–but decide to agree to it anyway, especially since it will have a time element.. Now, the prophetic reality is that it will not end well for Israel. Lands that Israel currently claims will end up under control by those who are currently in opposition to Israel according to the Bible.

A European leader will also be involved in this deal.

Palestinian objections to US involvement will help insure that Europe is involved. The declaration by the Trump Administration related to the Golan Heights, with an opposing position by the EU, is showing more in the region (other than the tiny nation called Israel) that Europe is more inclined to push Arab positions related to peace and territory.

This is consistent with various biblical prophecies.

Now, let’s look at Daniel 9:26-27 which shows European involvement in a coming ‘peace deal’:

26 And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate (Daniel 9:26-27).

The ‘one week’ has generally been understood by prophecy watchers to mean a seven year deal, that is broken in the middle of it (after 3 1/2 years).

There are several reasons that this “prince” in Daniel 9 is referring to the leader of the developing European empire (see King of the North and Europa, the Beast, and the Book of Revelation). One is that it was the people of the Roman Empire of the 1st century that fulfilled the portion of Daniel 9:26 as they destroyed the city (Jerusalem) in 70 A.D. The European Union includes much of the land and peoples that were part of the ancient Roman Empire. And it is the “prince” coming from that people that verse 27 is referring to. Thus, this prophecy tells us that a lower level European leader will somewhat officially start to rise up about 3 1/2 years before the Great Tribulation (and yes, according to Jesus, some “tribulation” does happen prior to the start of the Great Tribulation). Another is the fact that the “beast of the sea” (Revelation 13:1) fits with the beasts from the “great sea” (Daniel 7:2)–and that is the Mediterranean Sea according to the Old Testament–hence this is an empire like the old Roman one (for more details, please see Europa, the Beast, and the Book of Revelation).

After the deal is in place, many will think it is great. Yet, notice something that the Apostle Paul warned:

3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. (1 Thessalonians 5:3-4)

Many will NOT understand but will be deceived about the temporal peace that will come.

Despite current peace hopes, real lasting peace will not occur until the establishment of the true Kingdom of God (Isaiah 2:4; Micah 4:3, Revelation 21).

Until then, the Bible warns of conflict (Matthew 24:4-8), as well as times of false declarations of peace (e.g. 1 Thessalonians 5:3; Ezekiel 13:10-14).

Christians need to watch and pray (Luke 21:36) and not be deceived like the world will be (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12).

Tensions are rising in the Middle East.

And we are seeing more and more that nations in the world are not pleased with decisions by the USA.

This will lead to the fulfillment of many biblical prophecies.

Evangelical support for Donald Trump’s Jerusalem policy BBC asked, “Why do US evangelicals support Trump’s Jerusalem policy?” BBC provided quotes from some believing it has to do with the ‘last days’ while others saying that is not the reason. Hal Lindsey’s book, ‘The Late Great Planet Earth’ is one of the sources pointed to. In this video, Dr. Thiel addresses scriptures related to Jerusalem as well as prophetic ones. He goes over the common ‘fig tree’ interpretation, belief about a ‘Third Temple,’ and statements about animal sacrifices. He explains biblical statements on those subjects as well as the views of certain modern Jewish organizations. This is a video.
Jerusalem, Donald Trump, and Prophecy On December 6, 2017, US President Donald Trump fulfilled a campaign promise related to the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. This brought anger, protests, and rockets from some Palestinians. It also brought condemnation from European allies–it has been claimed to be disruptive and even catastrophic. The Palestinian President (Mahmoud Abbas) said that this pronouncement eliminated the USA as being a fair mediator for a peace deal. Others have claimed that Donald Trump is an end time Cyrus and his pronouncement will lead to a Third Temple in Jerusalem. Is there ever going to be a peace deal? If so, will Europeans be part of it? Is Donald Trump a ‘Cyrus.’ Do the Jews require a Third Temple for sacrifices? Dr. Thiel answer those questions and more in this video.
Why is a Jewish Temple in Jerusalem Not Required? Although people like Timothy LaHaye teach a third Jewish temple is required, who is ‘the temple of God” in the New Testament? Dr. Thiel not only explains that, but also briefly goes over 10 biblically-based warnings he wrote would happen if Donald Trump were elected that have already began to come to pass. He also goes over something he wrote back in 2008 that the Trump presidency is also helping lead to fulfillment. Should you trust Bible prophecy or not? Dr. Thiel says that Bible prophecy can be trusted, despite the view of skeptics and others that either overlook or despise the Bible. This is a video.
