Two US senators want a policy from Yale investigated and changed:

Josh Hawley accuses Yale of targeting religious students

CAPITOL HILL – According to a press release from Sen. Josh Hawley’s office, Hawley sent letters to Attorney General Bill Barr and Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos asking them to hold Yale responsible “for targeting religious students.”

This comes after Yale made changes to its “nondiscrimination policy.” Under this policy, students who are affiliated with or work for organizations deemed “discriminatory” will not gain access to certain funds. Republican Senator Ted Cruz wants to know if Yale Law School is illegally discriminating against Christians.

Cruz has launched an investigation into Yale Law School’s recent decision to apply their non-discrimination policy to summer and postgraduate public interest fellowships, arguing that it unfairly discriminates against students who wish to serve in organizations professing traditional “Christian views” or “sexual ethics.”

“Public news reports indicate that Yale Law School has recently adopted a transparently discriminatory policy: namely, that Yale will no longer provide any stipends or loan repayments for students serving in organizations professing traditional Christian views or adhering to traditional sexual ethics,” Cruz wrote in a letter to Yale Law School Dean Heather Gerken last Thursday.

Cruz, who is chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on the Constitution, argued that the policy appeared to be in violation of the First Amendment.

“The First Amendment protects both free speech and the Free Exercise of religion. Yale’s new policy does neither. Instead, it appears that the policy arose from unconstitutional animus and a specific discriminatory intent both to blacklist Christian organizations like the Alliance Defending Freedom and to punish Yale students whose values or religious faith lead them to work there,” he said.

“Please be advised that the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on the Constitution is opening an investigation into Yale Law School’s policy, announced via email on or about March 25, 2019, extending its putative nondiscrimination policy to summer public interest fellowships, postgraduate public interest fellowships, and loan forgiveness for public interest careers. As that investigation may include a subpoena duces tecum or a referral to the Department of Justice for action against the law school, please further consider this as notice of your obligation to take reasonable steps to retain all hard copies and electronically stored information relevant to this investigation and potential litigation,” Cruz further warned.

A Yale News report said the law school’s policy change was triggered after the school’s chapter of the Federalist Society, a student group committed to open and honest debate on important legal issues, invited a lawyer from the conservative legal organization Alliance Defending Freedom to speak earlier this year. LGBTQ activists at Yale, known as the Outlaws, opposed the invitation and on Feb. 24 asked the administration to clarify its summer fellowship and admission policies “regarding organizations that discriminate against members of its community.”

My understanding of the Yale move is that Yale basically wants to be able to punish people who hold to biblical values on sexual morality, gender, marriage, etc. It appears that the intent of many in academia and other institutions is to ‘boycott’ any who will not kowtow to the LGBTQI agenda. While we may see some temporary slowing of this, the LGBTQI supporters seemingly intend to keep this type of pressure up all over the place. They seem to have to economically blackmail all to accept their positions.

Nothing less than the U.S.’s survival is at stake, according to American journalist and author Robert Bridge.  In 2013, Bridge’s book, Midnight in the American Empire: How Corporations and Their Political Servants Are Destroying the American Dream, was released. The book details how corporations work with the government to kill the American Dream. Now he’s saying that the suppression of free speech on college campuses has gone way too far, and unless people are allowed to think and say things freely once again without repercussions, the entire country will perish.

As Bridge wrote  in an article for RT,

“America seems to have reached the point in its ‘progressive’ development where those who seem to have literally lost their minds – much like the authority figures in Ken Kesey’s masterful 1962 novel, ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ – wish to institutionalize the remainder of the sane population.”

And Bridge is not far from that truth.

Every day we are bombarded by the PC crowd telling us just what we can say and how we are allowed to say it. It is actually pretty difficult to say anything anymore without someone dictating the manner in which it can be said. The USA and other lands are losing freedom of speech.

Various social media platforms no longer tolerate speaking in favor of various aspects of biblical morality, and the LGBTQI crowd is behind that as well as other forms of hate against biblical morality.

Many in academia and in the major internet companies hate aspects of biblical morality and want to stop it.

Last Summer, US President Trump called out Twitter for a practice known as ‘shadow banning’:

President Donald Trump accused Twitter Thursday of “discriminatory and illegal practice,” vowing in a tweet to “look into” the matter.

Twitter shares added roughly a percent to the stock’s premarket losses immediately following the accusation.

Trump called out a practice commonly called “shadow banning” in which Twitter limits visibility in search results for particular accounts. Trump, following a Vice report about the practice, claimed the company is limiting the reach of “prominent Republicans.”

The Vice story claims Republicans such as party chair Ronna McDaniel and Donald Trump Jr.’s spokesperson were among those being de-emphasized in search results.

Twitter, in a statement to Vice News, said: “We are aware that some accounts are not automatically populating in our search box and shipping a change to address this.” A Twitter spokesperson was not immediately available to comment to CNBC.

Whether or not it is technically legal the courts will decide. But the reality is that shadow banning, the use of biased algorithms, and other such techniques by giant internet companies, like Google, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter are intended to reduce the number of people who would otherwise come across internet content in an unbiased search. These companies have repeatedly shown a bias against what has been called ‘conservative content.’

Algorithms employed by Twitter to limit the reach of hateful content are preventing the accounts of prominent Republicans, such as RNC chair Ronna Romney McDaniel, from appearing in search results.

The phenomenon known as “shadow banning” has affected several conservative Republican lawmakers, including Representatives Mark Meadows, Jim Jordan, and Matt Gaetz, as well as Donald Trump Jr.’s spokesman Andrew Surabian. It has not extended to their counterparts on the left, whose accounts continue to auto-populate in Twitter search results.

When contacted for comment, a Twitter spokesman told Vice that the shadow bans were the result of algorithms that analyze “account behavior” in order to reduce the visibility of accounts that routinely spew hateful and bigoted content.

Now, here is what Twitter posted last year:

They try to sound good, but this has been a form of high tech censorship.

YouTube uses terms like “community standards” to try to cover up its biases and censorship.

“When we have something that we think — that a fact checker has told is probably not true, or a lot of our audience is telling us is not true, we just limit distribution. We tell our algorithms that this is probably not something we want to see distributed widely. So that’s one way. So, Facebook has another way to limit distribution of content it does not agree with.

But, it is through algorithms and changes in search results that places like Google, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter engage in more dramatic ‘shadow’ (since it is behind the scenes) censorship. And places like Yale want to reduce potential funding for those who are opposed to the LGBTQI agenda.

And of course many in television and print media also have their biases. For example, Teen Vogue magazine recently put up a video against the truth about gender that we put a video out to counter (watch: How many genders did God create?).

As far as Twitter goes, last year, a judge has ruled that Twitter could be sued for falsely advertising that it provides free speech:

A California judge has ruled that social media giant Twitter can be sued for falsely advertising free speech. As Bloomberg reports, the judge said that Twitter’s policy of banning users “at any time, for any reason or for no reason” may constitute an “unconscionable contract” for a company which advertises free speech.

The judge rejected Twitter’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit from Jared Taylor, who was banned by the platform in December last year, according to Breitbart. Taylor, a self-described “white activist” may proceed with his lawsuit against Twitter because the social media company falsely advertises free speech, yet bans users for “any or no reason.” The judge also ruled that Twitter could be sued on the basis of misleading its users, due to the platform’s promise not to ban accounts on the basis of viewpoint or political affiliation, which is frequently violated.

“This ruling has massive implications for the platform going forward,” said Noah Peters, Jared Taylor’s lawyer. “this is the first time that a social media company’s argument that it can censor user speech has been rejected by a court.” …

The hypocrisy of various powerful organizations has been appalling.

Censorship is increasing. However, lawsuits against the censors will only slow some down and change some of their tactics.

Although you might think that if you have done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear from surveillance or speech restrictions, consider that many in the governments of the West consider that those not supporting homosexual marriages, etc. are extremist. If you accept that the Bible teaches that homosexuals can change (1 Corinthians 6:9-11), that is something certain so-called “fact checkers” disagree with. Let me add that I also saw someone once on a documentary that stated that people who believed in the millennium could not be trusted and should be considered as potential terrorists. The fact that we in the Continuing Church of God would be considered pacifists, does not change the fact that, since we hold to millennial and other biblical views, we can be improperly classified as extremist by government employees with various agendas. Having biblical views are becoming more problematic in the world (see ZH: Germany has killed freedom of speech and expects the rest of the EU to do the same). Canada does not want certain biblical verses to even be quoted (watch Canadian censoring of the Bible).

Google does manipulate its search results manually, contrary to the company’s official denials, documents obtained exclusively by The Daily Caller indicate.

Two official policies dubbed the “misrepresentation policy” and the “good neighbor policy” inform the company’s “XPA news blacklist,” which is maintained by Google’s Trust & Safety team. “T&S will be in charge of updating the blacklist as when there is a demand,” reads one of the documents shared with The Daily Caller. …

That document reads that it was, “approved by gomes@, nayak@, haahr@ as of 8/13/2018.” Ben Gomes is Google’s head of search, who reports directly to CEO Sundar Pichai. Pandu Nayak is a Google Fellow, and Paul Haahr is a software engineer, whose bio on Google’s internal network Moma indicates that he is also involved in, “fringe ranking: not showing fake news, hate speech, conspiracy theories, or science/medical/history denial unless we’re sure that’s what the user wants.”

“The purpose of the blacklist will be to bar the sites from surfacing in any Search feature or news product. It will not cause a demotion in the organic search results or de-index them altogether,” reads the policy document obtained by the Caller. What that means is that targeted sites will not be removed from the “ten blue links” portion of search results, but the blacklist applies to most of the other search features, like “top news,” “videos” or the various sidebars that are returned as search results. …

So Google continues with ‘subtle’ ways to censor content by making what it does not want found harder to find.

While the Europeans and North Americans decry internet and speech restrictions in various countries in Asia and elsewhere, they are also implementing restrictions themselves.

The Bible says to:

And that warning includes telling of sins and prophecies that discuss punishment.
