Two earthquakes and a small tsunami hit El Salvador:

Strong Earthquake Strikes El Salvador Coast

Published August 27, 2012…

A small tsunami hit the El Salvador port of Acajutla following the quake, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.

The-7.3 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of El Salvador followed an hour later by a magnitude-5.4 aftershock, authorities said early Monday. There were no immediate reports of damages or injuries. http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/news/2012/08/27/major-quake-hits-off-el-salvador/#ixzz24kqksWaP

Our family, actually because of airline problems, actually got to visit El Salvador (our flight stranded us there) in January 2012.  The people of El Salvador that we met were helpful and kind.

Other weather matters, such as Hurricane Isaac, are in the news as well:

Isaac crossing Gulf with New Orleans in crosshairs

August 27, 2012

KEY WEST, Fla.—

Tropical Storm Isaac targeted a broad swath of the Gulf Coast on Monday and had New Orleans in its crosshairs, bearing down just ahead of the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

The potential for a landfall as soon as Tuesday prompted evacuations along a wide area of the Gulf Coast and sent people out to stock up on staples…Isaac blew past the Florida Keys and was rolling northwestward over the open Gulf of Mexico on Monday. The National Hurricane Center predicted it would grow to a Category 1 hurricane over the warm water and possibly hit late Tuesday somewhere along a roughly 300-mile stretch from the bayous southwest of New Orleans to the Florida Panhandle.

That would be one day shy of seven years after Katrina struck catastrophically in 2005, although Katrina was a much stronger Category 5 storm with winds over 157 miles per hour. Isaac is expected to have top winds of around 90 mph when it hits land.  http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-tropical-storm-isaac-20120827,0,3882755.story

Jesus, of course, warned about a time earthquakes and troubles:

8 … And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be…troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:8)

We may be at this prophetic point as all the weather, earthquakes, and other problems that have happened in the past couple of years or so could be considered as “troubles.” Perhaps the earthquake and weather problems can serve as another wake-up call to people everywhere that the world can change very quickly and that the time to repent is now:

30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead. (Acts 17:30-31)

There are troubles and repentance is needed.
