The relations between the USA and Russia will have ups and downs. The Russians do not like nor particularly respect the Obama Administration.

Earlier this year, Vladimir Putin reminded the world that Russia is a nuclear power and that message was probably intended for both Europe and the United States (see Russian-speaking forces in Ukraine, Putin warns ‘Don’t mess with us,’ while EU announces more sanctions).

Some wondered if Ezekiel 38 would take place in 2014.  One felt that the end would come in 2014 from what was claimed to be a Daniel 9:27 deal with Russia (see Can the ‘Rapture’ happen tomorrow?).

Here is something about Ezekiel 38 from the old Worldwide Church of God:

Some Bible scholars assert falsely that these prophecies of Ezekiel were fulfilled anciently. They never were. Others believe they are about to occur but some years be- fore Armageddon. Both views are erroneous. The events of Ezekiel 38 and 39 are without question still future – for the “latter days” (38: 16) and “latter years” (38:8). Moreover, Ezekiel 38:14 describes the time setting as being “in that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely.” This is certainly not the situation in the State of Israel to- day! The Israel described by Ezekiel is a nation that dwells in security, in unwalled villages, totally unprepared for war (38:8, 11, 14). Read it for yourself! Ezekiel 38 is for the distant future–and and right at/after the millennium (cf. Revelation 20:7-9).  But that does not mean that there cannot be military conflict between the USA and Russia now (and there may be some).

So what is the basic time frame for Ezekiel 38?

After the thousand years of the millennium are over, but prior to the second resurrection, apparently a Russian-led confederation will rebel and attempt to attack God’s people (apparently in Jerusalem)–but they will not be successful–this is the fulfillment of much of Ezekiel 38 and 39 that many erroneously teach happens prior to the 1000 year millennium.

The USA upset Russia in many ways.  Notice something that Hillary Clinton wrote that she did with Russia a couple of years ago:

When I pressed Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to do more to protect the rights of LGBT people, the normally cool and restrained diplomat turned nasty. …

Meanwhile, I looked for ways to make progress closer to home, by better supporting LGBT members of the State Department. . . . I supported the State Department’s annual Pride event, hosted by a group called GLIFFA, Gay and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs Agencies. (Clinton HR. Hard Choices. Simon & Schuster, 2014, pp. 577-578)

USA-Russian relations have gone downhill since the State Department pressed the LGBT agenda.

Russia is upset with USA sanctions, the USA’s pushing the LGBT (homosexual) agenda, the USA’s opposition to Syria’s President Assad, and the USA’s support of the Kiev government. It also does not like the influence the USA or its dollar have on world trade.

However it should be pointed out that Russia is NOT biblically the power that is prophesied to takeover the USA (Europe is, cf. Daniel 11:39)–Russia, is however, prophesied to one day destroy Europe (e.g. Jeremiah 51:11-32)–but this is AFTER the great tribulation.

Of course now, we will see conflicts and rumors of conflict (cf. Matthew 24:4-8). But while Russia and the USA do not really get along, a major nuclear exchange is not prophesied, even if Russia again declares the USA an adversary or enemy.
