So, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg agrees with Donald Trump that European member states of NATO are not meeting their financial obligations and need to increase their military spending (NATO is an abbreviation for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization).

Presuming Donald Trump learns of the comments by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, he might well conclude that those in Europe not funding NATO as agreed need NATO more than the USA does.

Does that mean that I think that NATO is doomed and that Europe and the USA are about to go it alone militarily yet?

No.

Does that mean that I think that the continuation of NATO is necessarily in the ultimate best interest of the USA?

No.

What I think, and this is based upon comments from Donald Trump, other leaders, and various scriptures, is that Donald Trump will encourage Europe to increase its military might and continue to cooperate with the USA. Yet that cooperation will only continue UNTIL Europe thinks that it is better off without the USA. The Bible warns that devastation will come from “friends’ (cf. Lamentations 1:1-2).

Since last decade, I have warned that it was possible that the USA would be attacked under the guise of a NATO exercise. Notice something I had published in 2009:

31 And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation. …

Unlike in Daniel 11:30, the King of the North meets no strong naval resistance in verse 31.  This may be because he negotiated something with the U.S.A. to allow him (possibly with an “antipope,” see Chapter 10) to go to Jerusalem to broker “peace in the Middle East.”  Yet, it is likely that the King of the North does things that he had not told the U.S.A. he would do (such as go after the Philadelphian Christians and interfere with Jewish practices/politics).

This may inflame the U.S.A. enough that it may be one of the reasons that the King of the North decides on a “blitzkrieg” invasion of the U.S.A. and/or its British-descended allies 30 days after stopping the daily sacrifices.  The fact that the Europeans may be controlling the U.S.A.’s global positioning capabilities next decade may be enough to embolden the King.

The King of the North will probably proclaim “peace and safety” while plotting for the sudden destruction of those opposing him (1 Thessalonians 5:2–3).  This would be a second false proclamation of peace.  The sudden destruction is likely to include a nuclear attack, and could possibly happen in conjunction with a NATO exercise that would catch the U.S.A. and its Anglo-allies off guard (other nations are likely to also be involved). My view on this has remained pretty constant since then. For example, notice something posted on this news page earlier this Fall:

Currently Europe relies on the USA, as the real military partner of NATO, to defend it. This has been convenient for Europe and has allowed the Europeans to enjoy a standard of living that may not have been otherwise possible. However, Europe is developing its own military technology (see European Technology and the Beast of Revelation) and the time will come when it concludes it not only does not need the USA, but that it wants to take it over.

I do not, at this time, believe that Europe will abandon NATO. But that Europe wants the ability to have significant military capabilities outside of NATO, which NATO countries like the USA have.

As  have suggested before, eventually and perhaps under the guise of a NATO exercise, Europe will launch a surprise attack against the USA (cf. 1 Thessalonians 5:3; Daniel 11:39). This would possibly happen after one or more trade disputes, and perhaps after the USA has been weakened by weather problems, terrorist acts (from likely Islamic sources allied with Europe, per Psalm 83:3-8), war, riots, solar flares, severe earthquakes, civil unrest, devastation of their genetically-modified food supplies, food shortages, and/or various pestilences–an intensity of “sorrows” such as Jesus discussed in Matthew 24:4-8 leading up to the time of the Great Tribulation. Disasters, especially if there is an ElectroMagnetic Pulse (emp) attack or a severe solar flare storm, could be part of a so-called “perfect storm” of events that could set up the USA for destruction.

I suspect that after the Europeans and the USA have some strained relations in the future, the Europeans may call for/agree to a joint military exercise, possibly under the conditions of NATO, in the USA. This would allow the Europeans to bring military aircraft, troops, and other military items to the USA, without the USA getting concerned it would soon be attacked. While most in the USA would see supporting NATO and/or a unified Europe as a positive, the reality is that the stronger Europe becomes militarily, the weaker, relatively speaking, the USA becomes.

Many do not realize that the USA does not control NATO like it did until a few years ago. Initially, and basically for decades, NATO was built up under the direction of two US supreme commanders. But the situation has changed. The USA does not have legal control over much of NATO or what it can do anymore.

The current Secretary General of NATO is Jens Stoltenberg, the former Prime Minister of Norway, who took office on 1 October 2014. The Secretary General is responsible for coordinating the workings of the alliance, serves as the head of the North Atlantic Council, and leads NATO’s staff. The Chairman of the NATO Military Committee is General Petr Pavel. Since 1 June 2012 he has served as Chief of the General Staff of Armed Forces of the Czech Republic. was the Danish Chief of Defence and was appointed on 26 June 2015.

Of course, not all of Europe’s military is part of NATO. Europe has its own ‘independent’ forces, which some wish to see expand as well as seeing the expansion of a European military industrial complex (see Germans wants an independent European arms industry). And then there are German ambitions (Isaiah 10:5-11; see also German Foreign Minister calls for support and dominance similar to that proposed for Adolf Hitler and Merkel lashes out against Putin for interfering with with EU’s expansion plans). Bizarrely, there is now a German General who commands the actual USA Army in Europe (see German general now commands the US Army in Europe).

Having Europeans command NATO as well as USA forces puts the USA in a vulnerable position any time the Europeans decide that they want to dominate and attack the USA–this is something that will be done (Isaiah 10:5-11; Daniel 11:39).

39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain. (Daniel 11:39)

The ‘he’ above is the King of the North, a European power. It is the USA that currently has the ‘strongest fortresses.’ This prophecy will affect the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies.

While some have improperly concluded that Russia is the prophesied “king of the North” of Daniel 11, that is not the case. Russia, thus, is NOT biblically the power that is prophesied to takeover the USA–Europe is (Daniel 11:39; cf. Revelation 13:1-4).

However, until then, Europe will take steps to increase its influence and military strength. Technology may be its key (see European Technology and the Beast of Revelation). Sweden and Finland have sometimes been known for their technological developments.

Presuming Europe spends more funds related to ‘NATO’ and/or its own army, this will put the USA in a position that it will later regret (cf. Daniel 11:39).

While the military spending that Donald Trump has encouraged the Europeans to do makes a certain legal and logical sense, ultimately this will not end well for the USA.
