I365: The prohibition of leavened bread on Passover just took down the Israeli government … a harbinger of the Messiah.

The coalition government in Israel was seemingly ruptured today when a member supporting it, switched to oppose it, apparently over the allowance of leavened bread in hospitals during the Days of Unleavened Bread:

The prohibition of leavened bread on Passover just took down the Israeli government

You shall not eat anything leavened with it; for seven days thereafter you shall eat unleavened bread, Deuteronomy 16:3 (The Israel BibleTM)

The ruling coalition party teeters after a member of Bennett’s own party left after a dispute over Passover kashrut in Israeli hospitals. One rabbi cited an ancient esoteric text which described just such a situation as a harbinger of the Messiah.

Chametz in hospitals

The coalition of Prime Minister Naftali Bennett lost its narrow majority when Idit Silman, the leader of the coalition and a member of the Knesset for Bennett’s Yamina party, announced that she will join the opposition over her objections to a Health Ministry instruction that hospitals not enforce kashrut restrictions during the upcoming Passover holiday.

The difficulties began when Nitzan Horowitz, the acting Minister of Health, issued a letter to hospitals in Israel ordering them to allow patients and visitors to bring chametz (leavened food) into the hospitals during the eight days of Passover. His letter came after 2020 the High Court ruling that hospitals cannot ban patients, visitors, and others from entering with food products that are not kosher for Passover during the holiday.

Horowitz, who is openly gay, is from the far-left Meretz party and has been accused of objecting to Orthodox Jewish observance. He has initiated legislation that challenged rabbinic supervision of marriages while also calling for same-sex marriages.

Silman expressed anger over the letter that would allow Israeli hospitals to violate the Passover holiday, saying that she was concerned Israel was losing its Jewish character.

“When a minister in the government says that chametz should be allowed [in hospitals], he is disrespecting 70 percent of the public,” Idit Silman said during a debate of the Knesset’s Labor, Welfare, and Health Committee.

Torah law forbids the eating of leavened food during Passover and prohibits any leavened products from being found on any Jewish-owned premises. The punishment is karet (being cut off from the Jewish people).

“People during the Holocaust fasted on Passover rather than eat hametz, and a minister in the government of the State of Israel, unfortunately, intends to introduce hametz,” Silman said. “This is contempt for members of the coalition.” …

“Here, you have a government that has attacked Torah,” Rabbi Brody said. “The Health Minister cares about transgender more than he cares about sick people. He certainly doesn’t care that chametz will be in the hospitals. The Prime Minister claims to be an observant Torah Jew, but you certainly wouldn’t know it from his actions.”

A sign of the Moshiach

“The Tikkunei Zohar (a kabbalistic text) states that when the Erev Rav (mixed multitude) take over the government in the Land of Israel, it is a sure sign the Moshiach (Messiah) is imminent,” Rabbi Brody said. https://www.israel365news.com/268242/the-prohibition-of-leavened-bread-on-passover-just-took-down-the-israeli-government/

While the Messiah (called Moshiach above) has already came and we do not at all rely on any kabbalistic texts, it has long been my view that problems with Israel’s parliamentary system would one day result in certain key prophetic matters being fulfilled. Specifically, it is my view that one day a coalition government will be formed that will tolerate regular animal sacrifices.

Why?

Because the Bible shows that such sacrifices will be stopped by the future King of the North in Daniel 9:27 and 11:31. Since they are to be stopped, they first must start.

Legally, Jews have the right to perform these animal sacrifices, but Israeli courts have ruled that they cannot yet be resumed because of political matters (like inflaming the Muslims).

However, Israel’s parliament, called the Knesset, can lift the restrictions.

The fact that there are more religious members of the Knesset who sometimes take religious positions shows that such a coalition government can occur.

Jesus said:

 35 …Scripture cannot be broken (John 10:35).

So, since the Bible talks about future sacrifices, we know that one day the sacrifices will be resumed.

That being said, the Passover season, begins April 14th at sunset and runs through the Seventh Day of Unleavened Bread which ends at sunset April 22, 2022.

While leavened bread can be eaten in the daylight portion of April 15th, the Bible teaches:

19 For seven days no leaven shall be found in your houses, since whoever eats what is leavened, that same person shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he is a stranger or a native of the land. 20 You shall eat nothing leavened; in all your dwellings you shall eat unleavened bread.  (Exodus 12:19-20)

For 2022, the seven day period runs from sunset April 15th through sunset April 22nd.

Idit Silman believes Jews should believe the Hebrew scriptures and not allow leavened bread in government facilities.

It should be mentioned that Jesus and the Apostles also kept Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread, as did original Christians.

We in the Continuing Church of God continue to observe the same days as well.
