Mnuchin Unemployment numbers to worsen; Prager: Worldwide Lockdown May Be The Greatest Mistake In History

Notice the following as reported by NPR:

The worst of the nation’s historic job losses are yet to come, according to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who told Fox News Sunday that “the reported numbers are probably going to get worse before they get better.” …

Asked by host Chris Wallace whether the nation’s true unemployment rate was close to 25%, Mnuchin responded, “we could be.”

The cost to the economy of the USA and the worldwide ramifications of various steps taken are massive. Is this totally the “result of the virus” or the result of cowardice, political expediency, and fear?

Dennis Prager wrote the following:

The Worldwide Lockdown May Be The Greatest Mistake In History

The idea that the worldwide lockdown of virtually every country other than Sweden may have been an enormous mistake strikes many — including world leaders; most scientists, especially health officials, doctors and epidemiologists; those who work in major news media; opinion writers in those media; and the hundreds of millions, if not billions, of people who put their faith in these people — as so preposterous as to be immoral. Timothy Egan of The New York Times described Republicans who wish to enable their states to open up as “the party of death.”

That’s the way it is today on planet Earth, where deceit, cowardice and immaturity now dominate almost all societies because the elites are deceitful, cowardly and immature.

But for those open to reading thoughts they may differ with, here is the case for why the worldwide lockdown is not only a mistake but also, possibly, the worst mistake the world has ever made. And for those intellectually challenged by the English language and/or logic, “mistake” and “evil” are not synonyms. The lockdown is a mistake; the Holocaust, slavery, communism, fascism, etc., were evils. Massive mistakes are made by arrogant fools; massive evils are committed by evil people.

The forcible prevention of Americans from doing anything except what politicians deem “essential” has led to the worst economy in American history since the Great Depression of the 1930s. It is panic and hysteria, not the coronavirus, that created this catastrophe. And the consequences in much of the world will be more horrible than in America. …

The lockdown is “possibly even more catastrophic (than the virus) in its outcome: the collapse of global food-supply systems and widespread human starvation” (italics added). That was published in the left-wing The Nation, which, nevertheless, enthusiastically supports lockdowns. …

And, of course, to smug editors and writers of The Atlantic, in article after repetitive article, the fault lies not with the lockdown but with President Donald Trump. The most popular article in The Atlantic this week is titled “The Rest of the World Is Laughing at Trump.” The elites can afford to laugh at whatever they want. Having worked a little bit with the US NIH, specifically the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (plus my studies and experiences with statistics and modeling), let me state that I was not in awe or fear from their pronouncements based on their predictive models.

My experience with local public health officials also has not instilled in me a sense of confidence in their competence as I have seen inappropriate agendas as being pushed, as opposed to proper public health measures. Plus massive ignorance related to treatment.

Yes, as a scientist whose anti-viral proposals before the NIH utilizing herbs, glandulars, and nutrients was twice deemed by the US government scientists to have “significant scientific merit,” I have believed much has been mishandled in the COVID-19 matter.

I have opposed most business closures and church closures. The lockdown and other steps related to government actions blamed on COVID-19 is going to have severe ramifications, and some have began to show up.

We are seeing more hunger, for example, in parts of Africa because of government policies.

Government leaders around the world either like more government controls and/or are afraid not to have severe restrictions lest they look like they have not taken the coronavirus seriously enough.

The world needs to turn to God and seek first the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33).

Since that is not expected in this age, what are some physical things that could have been done that would have been at least as effective as the lockdowns, but without the massive socieo-economic costs?

Let me put together a quick list:

Tell the truth. Lies and wrong information by governments and health officials, particularly towards the beginning of all this, resulted in many missteps.
Warn vulnerable populations (people in nursing homes, the elderly, those with respiratory conditions) to avoid public contact.
Insure those that work with vulnerable populations have proper protective equipment to not catch nor spread COVID-19.
Distinguish policies and practices for rural and non-rural areas.
Encourage vulnerable people to wear masks in public. Encourage physical distancing for others in dangerous areas.
Cancel massively large events (anything over perhaps 1,000 people).
Encourage people to eat more fruits and vegetables high in vitamin C.
Encourage people to get sufficient sunlight to produce enough natural vitamin D.
Encourage people to take 100% food nutrient supplements that contain zinc, selenium, and other nutrients.
Encourage people to wash hands and be careful about putting their hands on their face.
Encourage people to have a clean home and work environment.
Encourage periodic fasting for those whose health allows for it.
Encourage people to exercise as appropriate.
Hospitals and other health care providers should NOT have been told to stop elective or routine procedures. Instead, hospitals, for example, should have been told to be ready to stop some routine/elective procedures IF their coronavirus caseloads go too high to handle otherwise.
Businesses, government facilities, and churches should not have been told to close. Instead, certain recommendations could have been provided to assist in safer operation.
Health officials should have properly reviewed the use of herbs, glandulars, nutrients, and other natural interventions to deal with viral issues.
Health officials should have been looking at substances like nattokinase to help with blood clot issues that have resulted in many unnecessary deaths associated with COVID-19, once blood clots appeared to be a significant cause of death.
Test people, or at least their temperature, before allowing them on airplanes.
Quarantine the sick and those that test positive.

Instead of telling people to support their innate immune systems with many of the above steps, promoting fear has been the apparent policy of choice. As well as hope in a future pharmaceutical solution (note: there is still not an effective HIV/AIDS vaccine, despite 35 years and billions of dollar spent to try to make one–this does not mean that there could not be an effective vaccine for COVID-19, but that is a while away, and since there may be multiple strains of the novel coronavirus, that also presents problems in the development of a theoretically effective vaccine).

Essentially telling people they are powerless to do anything for themselves, but instead telling them to basically be afraid, overall is hurting innate immunity. (As far as masks go, consider checking out one medical doctor’s opinion: Face Masks Pose Serious Risks To The Healthy.)

COVID-19 has wounded the economies of most nations around the world.

The USA has increased debt because of it, and that is not good (cf. Habakkuk 2:6=8).

The lockdown is also showing governments the ease that they can impose totalitarian controls. Some believe that was part of the reason behind the lockdowns.

The Bible shows that Europe will eventually reorganize and accept totalitarianism (Revelation 17:12-13) and what it will end up with will not be good. The lockdowns are sort of a trial run.

But the good news is that ultimately, Jesus will return and establish the Kingdom of God.

The worldwide lockdown will go down in history as a series of wrong decisions, misinformation, and cowardice.
