96th anniversary of the ‘Miracle of the Sun’?

October 13th is the 96th anniversary of something commonly called ‘the miracle of the sun.’ This year to commemorate it, Pope Francis is planning on dedicating the world essentially to a statue that was supposed to be that of the “Lady” that appeared in 1917.
And this evening, Marian celebrations were already scheduled to have begun:
October 11, 2013. (Romereports.com) Pope Francis is getting ready to celebrate Marian Day in St. Peter’s Square along with thousands of pilgrims. The celebrations will be held on Saturday October 12th and Sunday the 13th. The Pope will entrust the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This year’s celebration will have a special guest: The original statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be flown into Rome.
This ‘Marian Day’ is tied to the events of Fatima.
On October 13, 1917 was seen seen by three Portuguese children: Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco. Though others did not see here, there was apparently some type of change in the sky on October 13, 1917 that many others (supposedly around 70,000) reported witnessed. Every year, throngs of people visit Fatima this day because of it (others visit throughout the year, but the 13th of May and the 13th of October seem to be the most attended times). The “Lady” that appeared gave various messages that many believe have been confirmed by world events. Millions falsely believe that the “Lady of Fatima” was Jesus’ mother Mary.
As far as this “miracle of the sun” goes, let me simply state that there were various accounts of what was scene and I do not believe it was a miracle from God.
Since we in the Continuing Church of God do not believe that Mary, the mother of Jesus, appeared in Fatima, Portugal in 1917, why pay attention to this?
There are several reasons. Notice three:
1) Some of the events claimed to have been predicted in 1917 (though not written down until years later) appear to have taken place. This has given the Fatima messages credibility even among those not part of the Catholic faith.
2) The Fatima appearances, though not necessarily all the messages, have been accepted as legitimate and/or “worthy of belief” by the Vatican. As there are at least 1-2 billion people with at least some minimal ties with the Church of Rome, this means that a huge portion of the West (Europe and the Western Hemisphere), as well as people throughout the rest of the world, have reasons to pay attention to the Fatima. The current pontiff takes Fatima seriously and had his pontificate dedicated to the “Lady of Fatima” on May 13, 2013 (the 96th anniversary of the first appearance of the”Lady” to the children in Fatima).
3) Some of the Fatima messages are claimed to still be for the future. And whether people believe them or not, there will be repercussions from them. Some of those repercussions will likely shock the world. If you survive, you will likely be affected by these repercussions in the not too distant future. This is mainly because of warnings in the Bible about a woman (Isaiah 47) that seems to have had a lot in common with the apparition that supposedly appeared nearly a century ago.
Furthermore, the Bible warns that signs and lying wonders will deceive those that do not have the love of the truth (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12). And prophecies in both the Old and New Testaments suggest that a “Lady” who is considered a virgin.
And while I (who have looked into Fatima extensively) do not believe that Mary of the Bible appeared there, it is possible that messages believed to have been given may affect the world in a few years. And I hope to report more on that in the future.
Perhaps I should also add that the Fatima Center believes that if Pope Francis will specifically consecrate Russia (and not just the entire world like he is planning to tomorrow) to the so-called “immaculate heart of Mary” as they are urging, that this will usher in world peace and prosperity. They believe that this has been stopped in the past because of various enemies against their church.
Here are some excerpts from emails that the Fatima Center sent me within the past week that mention some of this:
On Oct. 13, Pope Francis intends to conclude two days of public Marian devotions by consecrating the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. He plans to do this at the Vatican, in the presence of the statue of Our Lady of the Rosary, which will be brought to Rome from the Little Chapel of the Apparitions in Fatima for the occasion.
WE ARE IN ROME TO HELP THE HOLY FATHER
WIN AGAINST HIS ENEMIES!Our Lady of Fatima asked that the Pope and the bishops — together — consecrate Russia to Her Immaculate Heart. Not the world, but Russia! Unless Our Lady’s request is granted and the consecration performed as She specified, the blessings She promised — the conversion of Russia and world peace — will not be realized.
Blessed John Paul II consecrated the world more than once to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. No doubt, graces were won by these pious acts. But they did not fulfill Our Lady’s conditions. Sister Lucy said they all did not. In fact, the last of the Fatima seers stressed again and again throughout her life that Our Lady’s request was very specific and that it had yet to be fulfilled. The consecration of Russia is still awaited.
Our Lady’s Apostolate is increasing its presence in Rome to try to reach and persuade Pope Francis, through every means at our disposal, that he has a Heaven-sent opportunity to deliver himself, the Church and world from our present turmoil and sufferings. I’d like to ask you a serious question… Would you trade 5 dedicated minutes for true and lasting peace for your loved ones, friends…. the entire world?
That’s all it would take Pope Francis, his Cardinals and bishops… just 5 minutes utilized exactly as divinely instructed!
On October 13th, the “Consecration of the World” will be professed from St Peter’s Square in front of the statue of Our Lady of Fatima from the Shrine in Portugal as Pope John Paul did it on March 25, 1984.
There’s just one problem with that…. During Our Lady’s appearances at Fatima She gave explicit instructions to consecrate Russia…. not the world. We have had unending war and strife since the last consecration of the world.
Please understand, this is not a slight against Russia…. In fact, it is glorious! Russia has been divinely chosen to save the world and create lasting peace for all races and nations…. And you are probably asking: but why Russia? The answer is very simple…. Only God knows His ways and paths to our salvation.
Please stand up and ask Pope Francis to consecrate “Russia” this time! (October 7, 2013)

Should Pope Francis specifically mention Russia in his intended consecration, this would be a big deal as far as the Fatimists are concerned, but would of itself not completely fulfill the consecration request by the demonic apparition as it also wanted the other Roman Catholic bishops to participate in such as consecration. Francis could be setting the stage of that. But what Francis is doing is promoting his version of ‘Mary’ and this will have ramifications in the world according to both Catholic and biblical (Isaiah 47; Nahum 3:4-5; cf. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12; Revelation 17 & 18) prophecy.
