Goodluck Jonathan Now President of Nigeria

Goodluck Jonathan

One Nigerian president was buried today as his replacement took office:

Nigeria’s shaky balance of power takes a hit as new president is sworn in

Umaru Yar’Adua’s death may spark a political battle between the Muslim north and the Christian south. Goodluck Jonathan, a southerner, succeeds Yar’Adua, who is from the north.,0,2091467.story

At this stage, it appears that Nigeria will probably avoid the coming conflict between the final Greco-Roman King of the North and Arab-Islamic King of the South.  Its “zoning policy”, though may be stretched passed the limit, so this is not for sure.

Nigeria is an oil-rich country often known internationally for its corruption (though there are some real Christians there).  Hopefully, the new president will help that nation set a higher standard so that the people there can have better lives.

Ultimately, those in Africa will.
