Saving for retirement is pointless thanks to the impending “supersonic tsunami” of AI and robotics, which will bring about a world of zero scarcity, according to Elon Musk.
While the Tesla and SpaceX CEO admitted he’s “more optimistic” than most, he insisted people shouldn’t stress over building a nest egg for the distant future, contrary to the staid advice of nearly all other financial professionals.
Musk’s hot take
By 2030, AI will surpass “the intelligence of all humans combined,” Musk predicted. He also claimed eventually there will be more humanoid robots than humans on Earth. Slowly, the traditional job will be replaced as well, with white collar positions first on the list.
“Anything short of shaping atoms, AI can do probably half or more of those jobs right now,” he said.
The advances could lead to such big productivity increases, he said, that they will surpass “what people possibly could think of as abundance.”
Rather than a universal income, everyone will enjoy a “universal ‘you can have whatever you want’ income” in the future, he claimed. Technology doesn’t automatically equal financial security.
Meanwhile, back here in reality, Americans are facing rising healthcare costs, expensive housing, stubborn inflation and record household debt. Social Security already faces long-term funding challenges. Pensions are disappearing. Many workers don’t even have access to employer retirement plans.

Three years after the introduction of ChatGPT, the discussion about artificial intelligence (AI) has shifted from an academic fringe topic to a central societal and political debate. Voices such as Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio have warned of the potentially catastrophic consequences of unregulated AI development. Dystopian scenarios, painted by former OpenAI employees, have prophesied the end of humanity by a superintelligence as early as 2030. AI does offer some hope. It should be a tool to assist in accumulating knowledge and making better decisions.
However, AI is not going to bring utopia to the earth by 2030–it will take the return of Jesus and the establishment of the Kingdom of God to do that, and He will not return prior to 2033.
Back in the early 1970s, I recall reading a book which essentially claimed that technology would reduce the work week to something like 5 hours per week and people would have so much that most would not need to work. That was supposed to happen, I believe, by the year 2000.
Obviously that was wrong.
That being said, back in 2018, Elon Musk was warning about the dangers of AI:

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk’s biggest fear is a form of artificial intelligence that could create an “immortal dictator,” a “godlike” entity that rules the world and one “from which we can never escape.”
That’s what he says in a new documentary by American filmmaker Chris Paine about the imminent threat of AI, which he believes will be smarter than man and, of course, never die.
The Tesla and SpaceX chief executive officer says it could develop within one company – like Google — or among a small group of people.
“The least scary future I can think of is one where we have at least democratized AI because if one company or small group of people manages to develop godlike digital superintelligence, they could take over the world,” Musk said. “At least when there’s an evil dictator, that human is going to die. But for an AI, there would be no death. It would live forever. While Elan Musk fears the rise of an Immortal dictator, the Bible shows that it will be a mortal, European, dictator that will rise up (Revelation 17:12-13).
He will want to be worshiped as if he were God in the end times:
3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4).
That leader will promise a false utopia.
Furthermore, the following scriptures support the view that to some degree, advanced computer software, which may or may not be considered as ‘artificial intelligence,’ will be used by the coming European Beast of the Sea dictator (Revelation 13:1-10) as well as his Beast of the Earth (Revelation 13:11) accomplice:
11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. 12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. 14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived.
15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.
16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:11-18)
Notice that the Beast of the Earth gets the people who dwell on the earth to worship the other Beast. While he will likely have what will be some type of demonic-superpower (Revelation 16:13), it is likely that something like artificial intelligence will be used to get the image of the Beast to speak and to get those who will not worship the Beast to be killed.
Additionally, when it comes to controlling buying and selling, that was not possible before this digital age of the 21st century. That is something that computers will be involved in. Computer software is a type of artificial intelligence. And sometimes it is specific programing that is considered AI as well.
The Bible shows that the world will get to the point of total destruction after the Great Tribulation, but that God will intervene:
21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened. (Matthew 24:21-22)
Jesus will destroy this Beast and his accomplice:
11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.
15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, “Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, 18 that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great.”
19 And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. 20 Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. (Revelation 19:11-19)
That Beast power will be destroyed and the Kingdom of God will be established:
15 Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!”
16 And the twenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and worshiped God, 17 saying: “We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, The One who is and who was and who is to come, Because You have taken Your great power and reigned. 18 The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, And the time of the dead, that they should be judged, And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, And those who fear Your name, small and great, And should destroy those who destroy the earth.” (Revelation 11:15-18)
So, the Beast power and his supporters will be defeated. That is when the millennium will then start and an age of abundance will come.
But, while AI may be used, it will not be the cause of the abundance.

Bible prophecy shows that a militaristic European dictator will arise, will apparently use something like AI.
But this dictator will NOT be immortal. And while much of the world will prosper for a time under his era (cf. Revelation 18), it will not be a lasting peaceful time of abundance.
