Gerald Flurry of the improperly named Philadelphia Church of God (PCG) posted the following:

One of the greatest prophecies in all the Bible is about the union of European nations. More specifically, it’s about the political union of 10 European nations.For decades, people in Europe have tried to forge a cohesive political union. To that end, they have created the present, loosely hinged 28-nation European Union. Yet Revelation 17 says there are going to be 10 kings there that are going to unite politically and form a real superpower: a modern-day Holy Roman Empire.

Bible prophecy also reveals that this European superpower will be led by a strong German leader who will essentially hijack the European Union.

The prophesied political union of 10 nations in Europe is being fulfilled before your eyes. And the United States is playing a key role in that union—in a negative way.

It is happening in a way that was predicted three decades ago by Herbert W. Armstrong! …

On June 16, the Congressional Budget Office warned that government debt is threatening to send U.S. economy into a death spiral.

Europe’s Reaction

Greece is the latest European victim of America’s debt crisis. That nation’s troubles are threatening trouble to other nations in Europe.

But they are also presenting opportunities for a more compact Europe.

The prophecy in Revelation 17 discusses the seven times that the Roman Empire would be resurrected as the Holy Roman Empire—from the Middle Ages all the way up to our present day. These resurrections are depicted as the seven heads of a beast. …

Revelation 17:12-13 is about a more streamlined Europe, and Greece’s crisis is showing us how it all will happen. These verses say, “And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.”

This is the last head of that Holy Roman Empire, and it’s going to have 10 kings. It won’t have 28 kings—it will have 10, and that is what this financial crisis is going to trigger and promote in a powerful way.  …

Herbert W. Armstrong predicted years ago that the collapse of the western world’s financial system, led by the United States, would unite those 10 nations into what is called the Holy Roman Empire—led by Germany.

Gerald Flurry claims to be God’s prophet and apostle.  Yet, he is a false prophet and false apostle.

Even his latest post helps prove that.

How?

Well, while it is true that financial and other world events involving the USA will be factors for Europe reorganizing to become the final King of the North Beast power, none of that changes the fact that the Bible does not teach that Europe will have ten currently existing nations as the ten kings of Revelation 17:12-13 or the ten toes of Daniel 2:41-43.  Nor was that the late Herbert W. Armstrong’s teaching–as will be shown later in this post.

Now below we see two future reorganizations that the Bible says will happen in Europe:

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:11-13)

What are these verses saying that there will be ten of?

The term translated in English from the Greek in Revelation 17:12, basileís (Greek characters βασιλεïς), as “kings,” essentially means “possessor of the highest office of a political realm” (Bauer’s A Greek Lexicon of the New Testament and other Early Church Literature, 3rd edition. FW Danker editor. 2000, University of Chicago Press, pp. 169-170).

Also the biblical fact that these ‘kings’ had no kingdom prior to becoming kings also helps prove that this is not a reference to ten currently existing nations. Furthermore, the term translated in English as “kingdoms” from the Greek in Revelation 17:12, basileín (Greek characters βασιλεíαν), means “royal administrations” (Ibid, pp. 168-169) is not specifically referring to existing nations.

It also should be noted that the Greek terms normally translated as “nation” or “nations” (Strong’s word 1484) is not used in Revelation 17:12.  Although the term for nations is in that chapter (verse 15), it is not part of what is happening in Revelation 17:12 or 17:13. If God wanted to specify ten existing nations, He could have inspired Revelation 17:12 to be worded differently.

Yet, some have oddly concluded that Revelation 17:12 specifies that ten currently existing nations, and only ten currently existing nations, will turn their power over to ten new leaders (who will then give it to the final Beast).  But that limitations on ten existing nations is not consistent with what the Greek states.  And while one does not need to be an expert in Greek to understand the Bible, one should not insist that the Greek states something it does not if one truly wants to understand the Bible.

Some COG groups, like PCG and LCG, have changed the historic COG understanding of this and have sometimes insisted that the ‘ten kings’ refers to 10 currently existing nations (LCG has published it is 10 or 11 nations, but sometimes says groups).  PCG, however, has consistently insisted on the ‘ten nations’ position–which Gerald Flurry did again today–yet that is something that the Bible does not teach.

Herbert W. Armstrong clearly realized that the ten did NOT have to mean only ten nations and that groups were likely as that is consistent with the term kingdoms. Herbert W. Armstrong did not predict Europe would end up having to be ten nations. Notice some of his writings related to that:

“And in the days of these kings…” it is here speaking of the ten toes, part of iron and part of brittle clay. This, by connecting the prophecy with Daniel 7 and Revelation 13 and 17, is referring to the new UNITED STATES OF EUROPE which is now forming, out of the European Common Market, before your very eyes! Revelation 17:12 makes plain the detail that it shall be a union of TEN KINGS OR KINGDOMS which (Rev. 17:8) shall resurrect the old ROMAN EMPIRE.

So, mark carefully the time element! “In the days of these kings” — in the days of these ten nations or groups of nations that shall, IN OUR TIME, resurrect briefly the Roman Empire — notice what shall happen:

“… shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed… but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever”! (Armstrong HW.  Just What Do You Mean… The KINGDOM OF GOD?  Tomorrow’s World, June 1969)

“And in the days of these kings …” it is here speaking of the ten toes, part of iron and part of brittle clay. This, by connecting the prophecy with Daniel 7, and Revelation 13 and 17, is referring to the new UNITED STATES OF EUROPE which is now forming, out of the European Common Market, before your very eyes! Revelation 17:12 makes plain the detail that it shall be a union of TEN KINGS OR KINGDOMS which (Rev. 17:8) shall resurrect the medieval “holy” ROMAN EMPIRE.

So, mark carefully the time element! “In the days of these kings” — in the days of these ten nations or groups of nations that shall, IN OUR TIME, resurrect briefly the Roman Empire — notice what shall happen:

“… shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed … but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever”! (Armstrong HW.  Incredible Human Potential, book, 1978)

“In the days of these kings”—in the days of these ten nations or groups of nations that shall, in our time, resurrect briefly the Roman Empire—notice what shall happen: “… shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed … but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever”!  (Armstrong HW.  7 PROOFS OF GOD’S TRUE CHURCH: Part Four.  Plain Truth, May 1979).

Prophecy says there will be TEN NATIONS (or groups of nations such as Benelux) but it does not say WHICH nations. The WHICH nations is speculation, but current rapid-fire news happenings do give us significant clues. (Armstrong HW.  Brethren & Co-Worker Letter, February 18, 1980)

These prophecies depict detailed ADVANCE NEWS of one more, last revival of this empire, yet to occur, by a union of 10 nations, or groups of nations, in Europe. (Armstrong HW.  What Is Now Prophesied! Plain Truth, June 1985)

Consider that although Gerald Flurry brought the name of the late Herbert W. Armstrong with his teaching, that Gerald Flurry is pushing a position that is contrary to what late Herbert W. Armstrong’s actually held.  But more importantly, Gerald Flurry is insisting on something that is not consistent with the scriptures, which is one of the reasons why I believe that he is a false prophet.

Furthermore, since PCG was able to pay for the rights of the book The Mystery of the Ages, perhaps they may wish to reflect on what of the late Herbert W. Armstrong’s taught on this point in that book:

“And in the days of these kings…”–it is here speaking of the ten toes, part of iron and part of brittle clay. This, by connecting the prophecy with Daniel 7, and Revelation 13 and 17, is referring to the new UNITED STATES OF EUROPE that is now forming, out of the European Common Market, before your very eyes! Revelation 17:12 makes plain the detail that it shall be a union of TEN KINGS OR KINGDOMS that (Rev. 17:8) shall resurrect the old ROMAN EMPIRE. So, mark carefully the time element! “In the days of these kings”–in the days of these then nations or groups of nations that shall, IN OUR TIME, resurrect briefly the Roman Empire… (The members of the European Common Market are probably not the same ten that will resurrect the Holy Roman Empire.) (Armstrong HW. Mystery of the Ages. Dood, Mead & Company, New York, 1985, pp. 301,302-303)

Now getting back to Europe itself, are any of the leaders there looking at reorganizing?

Absolutely.

Recently, a consolidation/reorganization was proposed by New Europe which wants regions and not mainly nation states to make up Europe (see New Europe: Europe must reorganize into regions and not nation states).  That is consistent with the historical COG position that the ten will include groups of nations (and even those will not need to necessarily keep with current national borders).

Notice also that the late Dr. Herman Hoeh, under Herbert Armstrong’s direction, taught that the little horn of Daniel 8 was the power that would become the final King of the North of Daniel 11:

Turn in your Bible to verse 9: “And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.” …

The King of the North

The little horn in Daniel 8 is none other than the LAST KING of one of the four divisions of Alexander’s Empire. He is, in fact, the final “King of the North” described in Daniel 11. (Hoeh H. The 2300 Days. Plain Truth, August 1965)

The European Union itself arose from the Benelux nations of Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg. Notice that Daniel 8, the Bible prophesied that a little horn would expand:

9 And out of one of them came a little horn which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the Glorious Land. 10 And it grew up to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and some of the stars to the ground, and trampled them. 11 He even exalted himself as high as the Prince of the host; and by him the daily sacrifices were taken away, and the place of His sanctuary was cast down. 12 Because of transgression, an army was given over to the horn to oppose the daily sacrifices; and he cast truth down to the ground. He did all this and prospered. (Daniel 8:9-12).

And while the above has had a past fulfillment, this prophecy seems to be dual (compare with Daniel 11:27-39). The European Union has mainly expanded south and east of which is where it initially formed (Benelux). Now, approximately 500 million people are now under a new, single (though not completed united) government, called the European Union, headquartered in Brussels. Reorganizations will happen as the Bible prophesies.

The end result will be that the Beast power will arise, it will become a military power, and it will surprise many (Revelation 13:1-4).  Sadly, that will include most of those that believe that they are in the true Church of God (see also Where is the True Christian Church Today?).

Those who insist that it must have ten currently existing nations when it does, will not properly recognize it when it forms.  Those that follow false teaching that the final Beast power must have ten currently existing nations will not realize that the Great Tribulation will start until it is too late to flee (watch also the sermon titled Ten Kings of Revelation and the Great Tribulation).

Gerald Flurry and others with the wrong view about Revelation 17:12-13  need to repent (cf. Revelation 3:14-18).

There are concerns about overfishing the world’s oceans:

It’s estimated that illicit fishing accounts for up 26 million tons of seafood a year and costs the global economy as much as 26 billion dollars annually. An international agreement to help curb the problem is gaining support, but still needs more backers before it can take effect.

Illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing – or IUU – not only causes economic damage, but is a threat to food security and biodiversity.

The U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization says IUU encompasses fishing without authorization, harvesting protected species, using outlawed fishing gear and violating quota limits. It accounts for over 15 percent of the global seafood take.

Dr. Matthew Camilleri, of the FAO’s Fisheries and Aquaculture Policy and Economics Division in Rome, said the problem ranges from big fishing vessels on the high seas to small-scale coastal operations.

“Illegal fishing could be that vessels are fishing in areas where fishing is prohibited because there are fragile ecosystems, which can be affected by fishing activities – or fishing is taking place using fishing gear which is prohibited or the dimensions of the gear are not in line with the regulations that have been set. So, hook sizes may be too small or mesh sizes may be too small, for example.”

He said unreported and under-reported fishing are also widespread.

“Fishing vessels just fail to report on their catches through log books, for example or through electronic systems that are in place. Or they are not reporting on their actual location. So, there are many kinds of infringements that could be associated with illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.”

Camilleri said the illicit practices endanger fish stocks.

“When we say endangered, not in the sense of endangered as being on the verge of extinction, but endangered in the sense that there are stocks which could be over fished. This means that there’s going to be fewer and fewer fish available to be caught by the good fishers and, therefore, less availability for future generations,” he said.  http://www.voanews.com/content/illegal-fishing-31jul15/2888136.html

Fish stocks are at risk and could be contributors to coming famines (Matthew 24:4-8).  Greed and lies are factors in the depleting fishing stocks according to most analysts.

As far as how Christians should view some of what is happening with overfishing, going to the book of Genesis is a good place to start.

Notice:

15 Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. (Genesis 2:15)

Humans were to be stewards over God’s creation.  Not those who should destroy everything.

Now notice something else about the creation:

20 Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.” 21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” 23 So the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

24 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

29 And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. 30 Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so. 31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. (Genesis 1:24-31)

God made fish.  Fish were part of the creation that was ‘very good.’

Humans are not properly tending the Earth. They are destroying it. And they will be judged for it:

18 The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, And the time of the dead, that they should be judged, And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, And those who fear Your name, small and great, And should destroy those who destroy the earth. (Revelation 11:18)

Human greed and/or ignorance are contributing to destroying the Earth.

Because humankind will not repent before Jesus returns, after God’s servants are sealed (Revelation 7:3), God will cause much of the remaining life in the seas to die:

8 Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood. 9 And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

10 Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. 11 The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter.  (Revelation 8:8-11)

Then it will get worse:

3 Then the second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man; and every living creature in the sea died.

4 Then the third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood. 5 And I heard the angel of the waters saying:

“You are righteous, O Lord,
The One who is and who was and who is to be,
Because You have judged these things.
6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets,
And You have given them blood to drink.
For it is their just due.”

7 And I heard another from the altar saying, “Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments.”

8 Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. 9 And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory. (Revelation 16:3-9)

Before all of that happens, however, the following is prophesied to occur:

6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.  7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.  8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.  (Matthew 24:6-8)

It is that coming famine that the current overfishing is likely to contribute to.

I would add that plans for introducing genetically-modified fish, which is one ‘solution’ that some have proposed to ‘fix’ the fishing stock situation, will not be the answer, but may well contribute to the coming time of famine and pestilences.  Sorrows are beginning.

“The prophet Zephaniah lived and wrote about 630 B.C.” (Armstrong HW. The Proof of the Bible, 1958) during the time of Josiah, king of Judah (Zephaniah 2:1).  The Armenian Orthodox observe 31 July in his honor.

God inspired the Prophet Zephaniah to write the following:

1 Gather yourselves together, yes, gather together, O undesirable nation, (Zephaniah 2:1)

Although it has certain misunderstandings, the Jamieson, Fausset, and Brown Commentary realized that the gathering together was intended for a religious group or assembly:

When are they to gather together?

2 Before the decree is issued, Or the day passes like chaff, Before the Lord’s fierce anger comes upon you, Before the day of the Lord’s anger comes upon you! (Zephaniah 2:2)

The gathering is to take place will before the day of the Lord (which happens about 2 1/2 years after the Great Tribulation of Matthew 24:21 begins) and before some type of decree is issued.

Who does God want to gather together?

The end time Christians. Notice what Jesus stated and something the Apostle Peter wrote:

19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. (John 15:19, NKJV)

9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. (1 Peter 2:9-10, KJV)

This is a peculiar people. These are people who the world does not desire. These are Philadelphian Christians.

How do we know that Zephaniah 2:1-3 is related to Christians? Because the decree is for the end time and because of what else God inspired Zephaniah to write:

3 Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth, Who have upheld His justice. Seek righteousness, seek humility. (Zephaniah 2:3a)

The above is a reference to Christians as they are to be the “meek of the earth” (Matthew 5:5) and to Philadelphians who “have upheld His justice. Seek righteousness, seek humility.” These are Philadelphian Christians who understand that church leaders need to have integrity and are willing to be humble enough to accept the authority of a church led by a low-level prophet in the absence of a clear apostle (cf. 1 Corinthians 12:28; Ephesians 4:11-15). They are humble enough to not think that they should remain ‘independent,’ as many who once were part of the old Worldwide Church of God, during this Laodicean time, have done.

Why does God tell them they may wish to be gathered together? So:

3…It may be that you will be hidden In the day of the Lord’s anger. (Zephaniah 2:3b)

Interestingly, the Hebrew words translated as Zephaniah means “Yahweh Hides” or “Yahweh Has Hidden” (Holy Bible: Vine’s Expository Reference Edition, p. 826).

Why have I written that Zephaniah 2:1-3 has to do with Philadelphian Christians?

For they are the only ones who will actually ‘gather together’ as they should.

Why?

Because it is they who will lead the final phase of the work and it is only to the Philadelphians that Jesus promises to protect from the coming hour of trial, also referred to as the Great Tribulation and the Day of the Lord:

7 “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write,

‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: 8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. 9 Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie — indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. 10 Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. 11 Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. 12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.

13 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”‘ (Revelation 3:7-13)

Notice that the Philadelphians are doing the work of God, have kept God’s word, have not denied Christ’s name/authority, and are persevering in the truth.

Yet, other churches around at the end, such as the remnants of Thyatira (Revelation 2:18-29) and Sardis (Revelation 3:1-6) are not promised that protection. Nor are the many Laodiceans (Revelation 3:14-22)–even if they are somehow gathered together–as they have gathered together in places that Jesus did not wish them to.

Are not all real Christians going to be protected?

No. The Book of Revelation is clear that after the Philadelphians are persecuted (cf. Daniel 7:25a; 11:29-36), that group will flee to a place of protection, while the rest of the true Christians will not flee and then be subject to severe persecution:

13 Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. 14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. 15 So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. 16 But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. 17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. (Revelation 12:13-17)

What kind of decree will be issued?

A decree that may allow those who are gathered together and who listen to it an opportunity to be protected (Zephaniah 2:1-3). A decree that the Philadelphians will listen to and flee.

When is a decree to be issued? After an event that Jesus told of that He tied to the writings of the Prophet Daniel:

15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), (Matthew 24:15)

14 “So when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not” (let the reader understand), (Mark 13:14a)

What did Jesus say happens next?

16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. (Matthew 24:16-21)

Notice also:

5 Declare in Judah and proclaim in Jerusalem, and say:

“Blow the trumpet in the land;
Cry, ‘Gather together,’
And say, ‘Assemble yourselves,
And let us go into the fortified cities.’
6 Set up the standard toward Zion.
Take refuge! Do not delay!
For I will bring disaster from the north,
And great destruction.” (Jeremiah 4:5-6)

The decree to ‘gather together’ will be repeated in the area of Judah just before the time of great destruction.

Why a decree?

Apparently, to make it easier for people who read what Jesus said to better be able to understand that Matthew 24:15 and Mark 13:14 and Daniel 9:27b and Daniel 11:31 had been fulfilled.

By whom will the decree be made?

The Bible says:

7 Surely the Lord God does nothing,
Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.
8 A lion has roared!
Who will not fear?
The Lord God has spoken!
Who can but prophesy? (Amos 3:7-8)

The prophet may make the decree personally and/or pass it on to another authority in the church to make.

Who is the only Church of God in the 21st century to teach all of this?

The Continuing Church of God.

If you are not with the group that is leading the final phase of the work will you not be able to flee if you wait until the last moment? While that may be remotely possible for some, remember that God inspired Zephaniah to admonish God’s people to ‘gather together…before the decree is issued.’

Most will discount this and many will scoff. Most COGs do not have any they consider to be a prophet, and those other than CCOG who claim to, have prophets that have been proven to be false (e.g. PCG, CGPFKG, TPM).

Furthermore, I read a post recently from a CCOG scoffer who picked at the very idea that one should suggest that a COG is Philadelphian and those part of such a COG will have be subject to being protected in a place of safety.

He and many others do not realize how important Jesus taught paying attentions to world events and prophecy is. Notice something Jesus taught:

34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:34-36)

Notice Jesus said to watch and pray ALWAYS. He was referring to prophetic matters. THIS CAME FROM JESUS, BUT MANY SCOFF AT PROPHECY for differing reasons (cf. 2 Peter 3:1-7)–yet being a prophetic scoffer is a mistake (cf. 2 Peter 3:8-9).

Jesus realized that if people did not pay attention to prophecy and pray alway, they would not properly take the steps to “be counted worthy to escape all these things.” Yes, God uses prophecy as a motivator for people. Remember that God used Jonah to warn Nineveh (Jonah 3:1-4) and they repented (Jonah 3:5-9), and they did not get the punishment they were going to get then (Jonah 3:10).

Jesus specifically told the Laodiceans, in a prophecy, that they needed to repent (Revelation 3:19) or face consequences (Revelation 3:14-19, and that they would be rewarded for doing so (Revelation 3:20). The Laodiceans are Church of God Christians “who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Revelation 12:17).

Many COG groups no longer officially teach the idea of “church eras,” and various ones also teach against it (though many are silent about them). Those that are unwilling to accept the idea of church eras, have tended to misunderstand Jesus’ teachings to the seven churches and will, unless they change, not accept the related truths today. Many do not realize that not teaching church eras was one of the first changes in doctrine implemented by the Tkach Administration after the death of Herbert Armstrong (see The 18 Restored Truths: Do You Know What the First Changes the Tkach Administration Made?).

Of course, the old Worldwide Church of God clearly did teach church eras. Notice one related quote from the late Herbert W. Armstrong:

“Greetings, everybody! This afternoon I want to speak on the mission of the Philadelphia Era of the Church, this Church today in comparison to the first era of the Church, the Ephesus Era of the Church. It’s been seeming more and more to me, as the years go by, that the Bible was written primarily for the Philadelphia Era of the Church…Today’s mission of the Church you will find in Matthew 24:14. And this gospel of the kingdom…that is the same gospel that Jesus preached…shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”(Armstrong HW. Mission of the Philadelphia Church Era, December 17, 1983)

The Continuing Church of God has the same mission and the same commitment to fulfilling Matthew 24:14 that Herbert Armstrong advocated. Matthew 24:14 is a PROPHETIC MESSAGE and it does tie in with world news and the condition of the world.

Although many Laodiceans do believe in church eras and do believe they should watch events related to biblical prophecy, sadly, they have compromised and accepted compromised leaders who, unless they repent, will not know when the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21) that will begin. This is documented in the article The Laodicean Church Era. Sadly, most lack the motivation and humility to make the necessary changes.

Notice also the following from the old Worldwide Church of God:

“Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord’s anger,” cried the Prophet Zephaniah (2:3).

A sermon-on-the-mount-type character is required. If you develop such Christlike character, the chances of your escaping the great tribulation are very good.

God’s anxiety for the physical welfare of His people is recorded by the Prophet Isaiah: “Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold [here is the reason for hiding], the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity …” (Isa. 26:20-21).

Notice that verse 21 ties right back into the Christian’s prophetic responsibility: watching significant world events individually (and warning the world as a Church) as well as praying to be worthy to escape the punishments of God on this sick and dying world.

The old WCG taught that Zephaniah had to do with being protected, yet few teach that today.

Since no later that 2007 (see Will Many Not Expect The End?) I have written that Zephaniah had to do with Philadelphians being ‘gathered together’ so that they would be protected from the coming trial that will hit the earth.

We in the Continuing Church of God “have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts” (2 Peter 1:19, KJV).”

Should we not be “exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25)?

We in the Continuing Church of God boldly teach the need for Philadelphians to be ‘gathering together’ today. Will you heed God’s instructions as the Prophet Zephaniah was inspired to write? Would you possibly like to be protected? If so, will you ‘gather together’?

A fourth videos was just released indicating that people working Planned Parenthood want to engage in the harvesting and ultimately selling of human tissues from aborted babies:

An antiabortion group that has said it has proof that Planned Parenthood “sells” fetal tissues for profit released a fourth video Thursday, this one featuring undercover footage of a Planned Parenthood employee discussing the details of fetal parts, and worries about the perception of that process.

The video comes as Planned Parenthood and its opponents battle over the organization’s future in Congress, in the courts and even on the women’s health organization’s own Web site.

The video was recorded in April, according to the Center for Medical Progress, with actors posing as representatives of an out-of-state company that procures fetal parts for researchers. The CMP identifies the Planned Parenthood official as Savita Ginde, vice president and medical director of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains. In the video, the group discusses a potential contract for fetal parts.

Ginde, among other things, discusses worries that Planned Parenthood’s fetal tissue program will be perceived as “selling fetal parts across states,” and what the consequences would be if “antis got a hold of” information about a specimen procurement program similar to the one proposed by the activists.  …

“PPRM determined we would not enter into a contract proposed by BioMax because they did not meet our legal and ethical standards,” Vicki Cowart, CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, said in an statement e-mailed after the edited video’s release. …

The video, Cowart added, is “another misleading and deceptively edited video” from “extremists who entered our facility based on misrepresentations and an elaborate, years-long fraudulent scheme.” …

In response, CMP did not deny that the Planned Parenthood affiliate declined to agree to a contract, but took issue with Cowart’s overall characterization of their exchange. David Daleiden, project lead for the Center for Medical Progress, said in an emailed statement to The Post on Thursday afternoon that the last time they communicated with PPRM was July 7, “as of which time they were still wanting to enter into a contract.”

Daleiden also believes the Planned Parenthood affiliate has “no paper trail” to prove they rejected the contract. “Their VP and Medical Director wanted to sell body parts badly,” he added.

According to the video transcript, Ginde worries that antiabortion advocates would “really run with it and make it really negative.” Ginde discusses potential ways in which the organization could ensure that wasn’t the case — including the importance of coordinating with other affiliates and classifying fetal parts collection programs as “research” and not “business.”

Apparently the office hoped to sell baby parts, but were legally advised against it.

Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton may agree with Republicans that recent undercover videos taken of Planned Parenthood employees are disturbing, but she disagrees with what they want to do next.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with AFL-CIO leaders in Silver Spring, Maryland, Clinton said the organization has “provided essential service for women in our country” for more than a century.

“I think it is regrettable that Republicans are once again trying to undermine, even end those services that so many women have needed and taken advantage of,” she said. “I think that it’s another effort by the Republicans to try to limit the health care options of women and we should not let them succeed once again.”  http://time.com/3979181/hillary-clinton-planned-parenthood-congress/

Planned Parenthood generates a significant portion of its revenues by promoting and performing abortions.  Those are absolutely NOT essential services for women in the USA.

Notice also Hillary Clinton’s position last week:

7/23/15 Hillary Clinton strongly defended Planned Parenthood Thursday as the women’s health organization reels from the fallout over a sting video released by anti-abortion activists earlier this month.

“For more than a century, Planned Parenthood has provided essential services for women,” Clinton said while campaigning at a community college in Greenville, South Carolina. “And I think it is unfortunate that Planned Parenthood has been the object of such a concerted attack for so many years. As far as a ‘woman’s right to choose’ goes, most of the women whose babies have parts sold do not knowingly choose to allow this. And as far as women’s rights to choose, that does not include the right to murder (for more details, see also Abortion, the Bible, and a Woman’s Right to Choose).

There are terrible consequences for sin, and instead of properly discouraging sexual immorality, encouraging abortion, which Planned Parenthood does, increases the tendency towards sin. This does not bode well for the United States.

While Planned Parenthood wants to stress what it does is ‘legal,’ many would agree that what it does is terrible.  Planned Parenthood also believes in what are called ‘late term’ abortions.

Here is information related to a former late term abortionist who had his own, not PP, clinic:

In an undercover sting operation, a woman who was 23-plus weeks pregnant (abortion is illegal in New York and other states after 24 weeks) secretly recorded the conversations she had in this abortionist’s office. In an exchange laden with euphemisms on both sides to conceal the gruesome nature of the discussion, the pregnant woman wondered aloud what would happen if “it” (her fetus) emerged from her intact and alive.

The employee assigned to take note of medical history reassured the woman, “We never had that for ages” (a seeming admission that a baby did survive abortion at the clinic at least once) but that should “it” “survive this,” “They would still have to put it in like a jar, a container, with solution, and send it to the lab. . . . We don’t just throw it out in the garbage.” Oh, and this innocuous-sounding “solution” was, of course, a toxic substance suitable for killing an infant.

“Like, what if it was twitching?” asked the pregnant woman.

“The solution will make it stop,” said the clinic employee. “That’s the whole purpose of the solution . . . It will automatically stop. It won’t be able to breathe anymore.”

As for any qualms a woman might have about seeing her newborn child being poisoned and drowned in a jar, the employee advised her “patient” not to worry: She’d be under sedation, and the murder would take place in another room anyway. Baby D, a clinic worker testified, was delivered into a toilet by a woman waiting for Dr. Gosnell and it appeared to make swimming motions before one of the doctor’s assistants pulled it out and cut its neck.

Two workers said they heard Baby E crying before Dr. Gosnell cut its spine with scissors. The prosecutor quoted a worker: “It made noises, a whine like my baby.” (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/30/us/trial-abortion-doctor-kermit-gosnell.html?_r=0)

Gosnell, 72, is accused of killing babies by using scissors to cut their spinal cords. Authorities allege that some of the infants were born alive and viable during the sixth, seventh and eighth months of pregnancy. (http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/30/justice/pennsylvania-abortion-doctor-trial/index.html) Dr. Gosnell, who is now 72, “never turned away a desperate troubled young lady,” said McMahon. “Abortion…isn’t pretty,” he told the jury…Cameron said that Dr. Gosnell murdered infants who showed signs of life despite being aborted by cutting their spines with scissors and causing subsequent suffocation.(http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/803391)

Abortion is the taking of a human life.  While Planned Parenthood has its own ways to kill the babies (see Abortion, the Bible, and a Woman’s Right to Choose), the babies still end up dead and apparently sometimes parts are available for sale at some clinics.

Planned Parenthood is in a horrific business.

When Planned Parenthood’s logo states “Care. No matter what” apparently that does not include kind care to babies it helps kill and sometimes sell.  This is not good for the USA.

US Secretary of the Treasury, Jacob Lew, again is stating that the USA needs to increase its debt ceiling:

On Wednesday, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew sent legislative leaders a little reminder about another contentious item: the debt ceiling.

Lew’s basic message was that the debt ceiling needs to be raised, and the sooner the better.

But if “soon” isn’t on the agenda, Treasury’s special accounting measures, in use since March, will likely buy lawmakers until at least mid-fall before they have to act.

“We believe that the measures will not be exhausted before late October, and it is likely that they will last for at least a brief additional period of time,” Lew wrote.

In March, a suspension of the debt limit expired and the ceiling was reset at $18.113 trillion.

But Congress didn’t act, even though the nation’s debt was effectively at its legal borrowing limit, and Treasury needed to keep borrowing to pay the country’s bills.  http://money.cnn.com/2015/07/29/news/economy/jack-lew-debt-ceiling/

History has shown us that the debt of the USA keeps growing and the so-called debt ‘ceiling’ is not a ceiling. The recognized federal debt has gone up over $20,000 for every person who lives in the USA since Barack Obama took office. This cannot continue indefinitely, but politicians in Washington, D.C. have ended up with budget deals, etc. that continue to increase the debt.

6…’How horrible it will be for the one who makes himself rich with what is not his own and makes himself wealthy on loans. How long will this go on?‘7 Won’t your creditors suddenly rise up and those who are going to shake you wake up? Then you will become their prize.

Now, I do not believe that the USA will be destroyed this year in fulfillment of the prophecies of Deuteronomy 28:47-52. Actually, I do not believe that it can happen until after the end of the second Obama term (see also the video The Great Tribulation Will Not Begin Before 2017).

But what the USA is doing does have major ramifications. More and more creditors are attempting to figure out how to decouple themselves from their dependance upon the USA dollar. International confederations such as the European Union and the Eurasian Union, as well as some of the Gulf States and China (and others) are actively attempting to decrease the world’s dependance on the USA dollar for international trade. The International Monetary Fund is looking to break the dominance of the USA dollar and is considering showing more favor towards the Chinese.

When the USA dollar loses its dominance in international trade, that too will be inflationary (the price of many goods would likely go up substantially).

The USA keeps playing this dangerous game of increasing debt, even though the Obama Administration’s own Treasury Department is seeing some of its dangers. The cost the USA will face ultimately will be worse than what would happen by not agreeing to raise the debt ceiling.

Duccio di Buoninsegna’s Imagined Depiction of Hosea

Some observe a memorial to the death of the Prophet Hosea on July 31st of each year. Hosea was believed to have lived in the 8th century B.C. The name “Hosea”, meaning “salvation,” or “He saves,” or “He helps.”

Here is how the Book of Hosea starts:

1 The word of the Lord that came to Hosea the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel. (Hosea 1:1)

Hosea is shown to have a difficult time and is told to take as wives, harlots. But he also had difficult messages for the children of Israel, then and now.

The Book of Hosea specifically shows that there will be problems with Israel, Ephraim, and Judah. And these are problems that seem to coincide to the sequence in Daniel 11:39-42.

Notice what Hosea 5:5 teaches will be fulfilled:

5 The pride of Israel testifies to his face; Therefore Israel and Ephraim stumble in their iniquity; Judah also stumbles with them.

Hosea is showing that Israel/U.S.A., Ephraim/Great Britain, Canada, Australia, & New Zealand, and Judah (the nation now called Israel) having problems. This may be because of an attack by the King of the North on the U.S.A. and some of its English-speaking allies. The U.S.A. probably had pride in its military power which was then broken and its cities made desolate (cf. Leviticus 26:19, 28-33).

Hosea 8:14 discusses the cities being devoured by fire. Sodom and Gomorrah were partially destroyed to be examples to those who would go for “sexual immorality” and “strange flesh” (Jude 7)—truly those sins are becoming more prevalent in the Anglo-lands (see also The Bible Condemns Homosexuality). Those who do not believe that these words apply to the modern descendants of Jacob will not apparently understand this (cf. Deuteronomy 29:29).

Those who trust in oppression and perversity will have sudden destruction come about them (Isaiah 30:12-13). The Anglo-nations should know better, but will not repent, and Hosea was inspired to write:

5… the Assyrian shall be his king, Because they refused to repent. (Hosea 11:5)

This is not to say that non-Anglo peoples do not have sin or that they will not be punished. But, the Bible is clear that Assyria will be an end time northern power that God will punish per Zephaniah 2:13-15, which seems to go along with Revelation 18:1-10. Many will be made slaves (see also Will the Anglo-Saxon Nations be Divided and Have People Taken as Slaves?).

Since by this time, the Philadelphia remnant will have fled (Revelation 12:14-16), the following also comes about:

6 “With their flocks and herds

They shall go to seek the Lord,

But they will not find Him;

He has withdrawn Himself from them.

7 They have dealt treacherously with the Lord,

For they have begotten pagan children.

Now a New Moon shall devour them and their heritage. (Hosea 5:6-7)

Because of the “sin of Samaria” (Amos 8:14; which may be a reference to the modern U.S.A.) there will be a famine of the word that God will have happen (Amos 8:11-12) to at least the North Americans—the place where much of the Philadelphia remnant would have fled from (between Daniel 11:30-39).

Hosea continues to record terrible distresses for these people, then notice what follows in Hosea 5:13-14.

13 When Ephraim saw his sickness, And Judah saw his wound, Then Ephraim went to Assyria And sent to King Jareb; Yet he cannot cure you, Nor heal you of your wound. 14 For I will be like a lion to Ephraim, And like a young lion to the house of Judah. I, even I, will tear them and go away; I will take them away, and no one shall rescue.

So then Ephraim tries to make a deal with Assyria.

Hosea also warns about whirlwinds and a coming massive tornado:

6 For from Israel is even this:
A workman made it, and it is not God;
But the calf of Samaria shall be broken to pieces.

7 “They sow the wind,
And reap the whirlwind.
The stalk has no bud;
It shall never produce meal.
If it should produce,
Aliens would swallow it up.
8 Israel is swallowed up;
Now they are among the Gentiles
Like a vessel in which is no pleasure.
(Hosea 8:6-8)

5 Even though Ephraim ran wild,
the black sheep of the family.

“God’s tornado is on its way,
roaring out of the desert.
It will devastate the country,
leaving a trail of ruin and wreckage.
The cities will be gutted,
dear possessions gone for good.
16 Now Samaria has to face the charges
because she has rebelled against her God:
Her people will be killed, babies smashed on the rocks,
pregnant women ripped open.
(Hosea 13:15-16, THE MESSAGE)

In the above, notice that Samaria is also affected in both of the above sections. This seems to be a referring to the ‘melting pot’ of the USA (Samaria was a melting pot mixture of Babylonians and Israelites; see also Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel).

Also notice Hosea 8:8-9 where Ephraim apparently tries to pay for help while Israel (perhaps the U.S.A. or the U.S.A. and Judah) is essentially gone:

8 Israel is swallowed up; Now they are among the Gentiles, Like a vessel in which is no pleasure. 9 For they have gone up to Assyria, Like a wild donkey alone by itself; Ephraim has hired lovers.

In Hosea 12:1 Ephraim tries to make a deal with the Assyrians:

1 Ephraim feeds on the wind, And pursues the east wind; He daily increases lies and desolation. Also they make a covenant with the Assyrians. And oil is carried to Egypt.

And in Hosea 7:11-12 Ephraim also tries to make a deal with Egypt and Assyria. These deal seem to be made after the USA has been eliminated or is on its way out.

11 Ephraim also is like a silly dove, without sense—They call to Egypt, They go to Assyria. 12 Wherever they go, I will spread My net on them; I will bring them down like birds of the air; I will chastise them, According to what their congregation has heard.

There would seem to be no point in going to Egypt if the King of the South has already been overwhelmed by the King of the North, so this attempt to make deals might happen fairly early in the Great Tribulation.

There is nothing that I am aware of in world history that shows that Ephraim calls to Egypt after Hosea was written in a manner to fulfill that prophecy. Since this is a prophecy that must come to pass, this is one more reason why I believe the Bible supports the concept that the King of the North invades the U.S.A. and its English-speaking allies before it invades the King of the South.

Notice that Ephraim will eat unclean things in Assyria:

3 They shall not dwell in the Lord’s land, But Ephraim shall return to Egypt, And shall eat unclean things in Assyria. (Hosea 9:3)

These verses in Hosea suggest that the Ephraimites (United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand) and the Jews (modern Israel) think they should get some protection from Assyria (Germany), probably because the U.S.A. (Manasseh, Israel?) was the primary reason the King of the North attacked the strongest fortresses and/or because they have made various treaties.

Furthermore, it shows that one of the reasons that Israel, including Ephraim, is swallowed up is because they trusted Assyria. Assyria is a people who Isaiah 10 shows will destroy nations.

Interestingly, Ephraim, Manasseh, and Judah are also prophesied to turn on each other to some degree (Isaiah 9:21).

This seems to be consistent also with a Catholic prophecy:

St. Senanus (died 560): They (English) themselves will betray each other… (Culleton, The Prophets and Our Times, p. 128)

Hosea 10:9-11 suggests that Ephraim and Judah will be forced into hard labor, perhaps around this time as well; while 11:1-8 says that Assyria will be the king of Ephraim and Israel, because they refused to repent, and that the sword will devour their cities.

The last verse in Hosea (14:9) begins with:

9 Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them.

Note that the word translated as “prudent” above is the same Hebrew biyn that is in Daniel 11:33/35 as understanding. Since I believe that the Philadelphian portion of the Church is to have the wise and prudent, I believe that Hosea is giving more insight as to why it may be tied into Daniel 11.

Very few in the Church of God have tried to connect the prophecies of Hosea together. Most will not know when it is time to flee and when the Great Tribulation will begin until it is too late.

Back in 1983, then US President Ronald Reagan made a speech in which he named the old Soviet Union as an ‘evil empire.’

But what about the USA?  Is it now an evil empire?

Monsanto is an incredibly powerful force in modern agriculture, supplying a wide swath of farmers with seeds, pesticides, and data. Monsanto is a US-based company, headquartered in Missouri.  It has foisted genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) on many parts of the world, despite the resistance from consumers and some governments.  In my opinion, the risk to the food supply for the USA and others that are relying on GMOs is stark and much too dangerous.  Human-caused/engineered famines are evil.

Some may dismiss that as proof that the USA is becoming an evil empire, but notice something I ran across today from a Catholic priest named C. John McCloskey indicating that the USA is now an evil empire:

I would take it a step further and say yes, the United States of America is an evil empire.  Priest McCloskey did not list his reasons for why he felt it may, but I would like to list some of mine as to why it is.

But before I do, notice also the following:

The USA military has, of course, been engaged in many wars throughout its history.  But it does seem that the USA is involved in many wars.  Although early Christians would not even watch violent sports, Americans often promote them (see also Is American Football Evil?).

While many believe that US wars are justified, in what ways can the USA truly be considered as an evil empire?

In addition to its government promoting, and even legally protecting makers of GMOs (see H.R. 933 includes pro-GMO provision that some call ‘Monsanto Protection Act’), here are several that come to immediate mind.

1. Its domestic and international promoting of abortion.
2. Its allowing the sale of human body parts, despite its laws that are supposed to protect against it.
3. It promotion of pornographic (soft and hard core) ‘entertainment’ materials domestically and internationally.
4. Its promotion of the homosexual agenda, both domestically and internationally.
5. It vastly increased debt which will not properly ever be paid back (cf. Habakkuk 2:6-8).
6. Its promotion, via much of its advertising industry, to mislead consumers.
7. Its promotion of false education.
8. Certain chemicals it has produced and promoted harm people and the environment.

As far as evil goes, consider the following:

22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man — and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:22-32)

Certainly, by promoting homosexuality, abortion, and pornography, the USA is promoting evil.

But let’s consider the USA as ‘inventors of evil things.’  In addition to ‘evil things’ related to pornography, equating homosexual couples with marriage is an evil invention.  And while that was not invented in the USA, its promotion, etc., especially internationally, has been.

Hillary Clinton admitted that it was her pushing of the homosexual agenda that soured the relationship between the USA and Russia.  Furthermore, the USA has greatly offended African nations because of it–yet its President still does it (see Ignoring church pleas, Barack Obama promotes homosexual agenda in Kenya. Is he fulfilling prophecy?).  While the USA has limited this pressure towards Islamic countries, its promotion of the homosexual agenda is one of many aspects of moral decline that encourages Islamic terrorists to want to do damage to the USA.

The abortion industry has also been inventive.  In addition to changing terms (calling abortion ‘pro-choice,’ for one example), doctors in the USA and elsewhere have come up with various evil inventions for performing abortions.

Other ‘evil inventions’ include gender-changing surgeries, various forms of sexual identification which many leaders in the USA now consider to be acceptable (e.g. LGBTQQIP: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Pansexual, etc.), and using a rainbow, not to show God’s promise to not destroy the world via flood (Genesis 9:12-17), but to promote anti-biblical lifestyles.

I would add that the idea that the Boy Scouts of America have scouts and scout leaders that are allegedly ‘morally straight’ is another evil invention.

Gay Rights

Surprisingly, there was one more negative impression of the US that young Kenyans and Ethiopians repeatedly told me about, and it was about a lack of freedom of speech and expression in the US.

But this impression was related to the issue of gay rights. It is one topic on which many told us they found President Obama’s views unpalatable. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-33697932

The African view that the USA is now curbing freedom of speech and expression is sadly true.

The creation of dross money, from programs like ‘quantitative easing’ is another evil invention on the USA. Notice what Isaiah was inspired to write:

16…Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil, …

22 Your silver has become dross, Your wine mixed with water. (Isaiah 1:16, 22)

The creating of money via quantitative easing and certain other debt programs is like mixing wine with water and is a form of deceit that has a price.

Furthermore, it should be understood that the USA has no intention to pay all of its debt back which it, in essence, foisted upon the international community and others.  The Bible teaches against it and that is wicked:

21 The wicked borrows and does not repay, (Psalm 37:21)

6…’How horrible it will be for the one who makes himself rich with what is not his own and makes himself wealthy on loans. How long will this go on?‘

7 Won’t your creditors suddenly rise up and those who are going to shake you wake up? Then you will become their prize.

8 You have looted many nations. All the rest of the people will loot you because of the slaughter and violence done to lands, cities, and all their inhabitants. (Habakkuk 2:6-8), God’s Word Translation)

Being a wicked borrow will be a factor in the elimination of the USA.

The USA is the most indebted nation in the history of humanity–its standard of living has been subsidized by foreigners for decades and the Bible shows it will be taken over for it (Habakkuk 2:6-8).

The Bible also warns:

20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; (Isaiah 5:20)

Yet, in Kentucky volunteer pastors have to sign a statement to work with youth that they will NOT call homosexuality sinful (see also ‘Bible does not define our laws’).  The fruits of the homosexual agenda are evil (see also The Bible Condemns Homosexuality).

Notice also Hillary Clinton’s position about an organization accused of selling body parts:

“For more than a century, Planned Parenthood has provided essential services for women,” Clinton said while campaigning at a community college in Greenville, South Carolina. “And I think it is unfortunate that Planned Parenthood has been the object of such a concerted attack for so many years. As far as a ‘woman’s right to choose’ goes, most of the women whose babies have parts sold do not knowingly choose to allow this. And as far as women’s rights to choose, that does not include the right to murder (for more details, see also Abortion, the Bible, and a Woman’s Right to Choose).

Actually, people like Hillary Clinton want to change religion to say what they want it to say:

In a fiery speech Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton argues that deep seated religious beliefs must be changed so that everyone can enjoy full participation in every aspect of society.

Clinton, speaking in Manhattan on Thursday at the sixth annual Women in The World Summit, declared that “deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases” must be changed both in the U.S. and around the world in order to achieve social justice.

Clinton, after discussing the pressing social justice issues of domestic violence and women’s reproductive health, said:

Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.

As I have said and as I believe, the advancement of the full participation of women and girls in every aspect of their societies is the great unfinished business of the 21st century and not just for women but for everyone — and not just in far away countries but right here in the United States.

Instead of advocating repentance from sin, Hillary Clinton wants a re-education where religious views changed so that people will embrace abortion, homosexuality, and other immoral positions that Christians should condemn.  And she certainly is not the only one.

I would add that while social justice is an interesting goal, many ways politicians promote are biblically wrong as they promote covetousness and often stealing (though they do not call it stealing).  True social justice will not come until the return of Jesus Christ and the establishment of the kingdom of God.

Other aspects of false education include teaching that deviant lifestyles are to be embraced as well as to basically not be allowed to teach any form of creationism in most schools and universities (watch, for example, Is There Another View of Evolution?).

I would also restate that advertisers are legally allowed to grossly exaggerate, promote lust, and put out misleading information.  Many advertisers around the world have followed some of these same practices, some of which are evil.

On June 29, 1924, Will Rodgers stated, “America has the best politicians money can buy.” While many laughed when he said that originally, in certain respects this has become true.

Because many politicians have been influenced by money from chemical and pharmaceutical companies, the USA has sometimes promoted chemicals and other substances that are harmful to both people and the environment (see also The Bible, Christians, and the Environment).  I would add that some of the ‘solutions’ to the environmental issues that various ones have been proposing will not work.

Jesus will come and:

18…destroy those who destroy the earth. (Revelation 11:18)

The Bible shows that God’s kingdom will come that will eliminate all the evil ones.

But before that, the ‘evil empire’ that the USA has been building will be destroyed, despite its military strength (Daniel 11:39) but because of its debt (Habakkuk 2:6-8) and its promotion of evil (Romans 1:18-32).

At least three videos have recently been released indicating that people working at Planned Parenthood are engaged in the harvesting and ultimately selling of human tissues from aborted babies.  Apparently Planned Parenthood is now pushing for a media blackout:

How bad is the baby organ trafficking story for Planned Parenthood? So bad that the nation’s largest abortion provider has hired a pricey PR firm to bully media outlets into not covering the scandal.

According to Politico, Planned Parenthood hired Democratic megafirm SKDKnickerbocker to handle its public relations effort surrounding the widening organ trafficking scandal. In a series of undercover videos released by the Center for Medical Progress, multiple top Planned Parenthood executives are captured haggling over the prices of aborted baby body parts and discussing ways to maximize money earned through the harvesting and sale of human organs.

Unsurprisingly, preventing coverage of the videos is apparently key to Planned Parenthood’s survival strategy:

Planned Parenthood has hired high-profile Washington public relations firm SKDKnickerbocker as it scrambles to deal with the ongoing scandal and release of a third undercover video Tuesday showing a clinic’s staff handling fetal tissue after an abortion.

The group circulated a memo to reporters and producers late Monday that discouraged them from airing the undercover videos, arguing that they were obtained under false identification and violated patient privacy.

So there’s a concerted effort from Planned Parenthood and it’s allies to “discourage[] [media outlets] from airing the undercover videos”? The deuce, you say? That would certainly go a long way towards explaining why so many left-leaning media outlets refused to cover the second video, which captured a senior Planned Parenthood executive noting that she needed a good deal on aborted baby organs because, “I want a Lamborghini.”  http://thefederalist.com/2015/07/28/planned-parenthood-tells-reporters-to-suppress-coverage-reporters-happily-agree/

Planned Parenthood has enlisted high-profile Washington public relations firm SKDKnickerbocker as it scrambles to deal with the ongoing scandal and release of a third undercover video Tuesday showing a clinic’s staff handling fetal tissue after an abortion.

The additional PR firepower reflects the growing pressure on the women’s health organization amid building GOP calls to cut its $540 million in government funding. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) earlier this week called to halt Planned Parenthood’s federal funding while Congress investigates whether the organization broke a federal ban on profiting from fetal tissue donation. The Senate plans to hold a vote on a defunding amendment from Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and others that is likely to fail.

SKDKnickerbocker is no newbie to working on Planned Parenthood issues. The Democratically aligned firm is run by well-connected operatives, including Anita Dunn and Hilary Rosen. It also worked with the group during the 2012 election cycle, according to SKDKnickerbocker’s website.

“Planned Parenthood is a longtime client, and we are proud to help them push back against these extremist attacks from people who want to end reproductive health care for women in this country,” a SKDKnickerbocker spokesman said in a statement. http://www.politico.com/story/2015/07/planned-parenthood-crisis-communications-firm-video-120725.html#ixzz3hHww6fOx

While there is some media coverage of this, it is getting more limited (this subject DID NOT come up in my normal searches in Google News yesterday or today–I had to do a special search to find what I did as Google News put it outside of ‘first page’ news).  Many in the media are either not covering it much or are emphasizing Planned Parenthood’s position.

The time is coming when the truth about many more things will be very hard to find (cf. Amos 8:11-12).

The anti-abortion group which posted video of Planned Parenthood officials talking about fetal parts for sale shot some of its video at Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains in Denver. Such tissue may be used for research upon permission of a donor. It cannot be sold for profit.

That controversial video was released Tuesday morning via the Center for Medical Progress website.

The group says it shows the medical director of the local Planned Parenthood talking to an alleged buyer about fetal tissue for sale, while both are looking at specimens on a glass plate. …

Later in the day, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains denounced this video to 7NEWS in a statement.

“The accuracy of today’s heavily edited video cannot be confirmed and the full length footage that would put any comments in context has not been made available. To be clear, however, we are certain that no laws were broken and that accusations made by those who oppose Planned Parenthood’s mission and services are false,” said Vicki Cowart, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains in a written statement.  http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/local-news/local-planned-parenthood-denounces-new-video-allegedly-showing-talk-of-selling-fetal-tissue

Planned Parenthood insists that it had not broken any laws (despite the fact that they regularly break God’s laws) and that the videos released have been ‘highly edited.’  Regarding that last claim, I saw one of the members of the Center for Medical Progress on the news state that the unedited videos were available at their website.

Planned Parenthood has long been in the baby murdering baby business.  The fact that they sometimes sell tissues to help fund their work is not a surprise.

There are terrible consequences for sin, and instead of properly discouraging sexual immorality, encouraging abortion, which Planned Parenthood does, increases the tendency towards sin. This does not bode well for the United States.

While Europe, China, and certain other areas also have abortion and other issues, the reality is that the Bible shows that, for a time, they will do much better than the USA. So much so, because the time is coming before their end, when the USA will be no more.

A German Army brigadier general who recently served with NATO forces in Afghanistan is assuming duties as the chief of staff of U. S. Army Europe, the first time a non-American officer has held that position.

Brig. Gen. Markus Laubenthal, most recently the commander of Germany’s 12th Panzer Brigade in Amberg, and chief of staff of Regional Command North, International Security Assistance Force Afghanistan, will be stationed at USAREUR headquarters, Wiesbaden, Germany. He could report to duty as early as Monday.

BERLIN—A German will for the first time become chief of staff of the U.S. Army in Europe, a sign of further cooperation between the two nations despite a chill caused by allegations of U.S. spying here.

Brig. Gen. Markus Laubenthal from Germany’s Bundeswehr will report to Lt. Gen. Donald Campbell, the U.S. commander for U.S. Army Europe, known as USAREUR, with headquarters in Wiesbaden, Germany.

“This is a bold and major step forward in USAREUR’s commitment to operating in a multinational environment with our German allies,” Gen. Campbell said.

The appointment of a German to the position has been several months in the making and is part of the U.S. Army’s strategy to internationalize the command of its overseas operations.

The U.S. Army in Europe said in March it was in talks to appoint a German brigadier general as its new chief of staff.

Still, German officials said the decision—less than a month after Berlin asked the top U.S. intelligence official in the German capital to leave the country following the arrest of a suspected U.S. spy in the ranks of the German intelligence service—showed the two countries were working together as closely as ever on other security fronts.

“It’s a sign of the continuing, very deep cooperation with the Americans,” Lt. Gen. The same German officer is still the boss of the US Army in Europe. In my view, he was placed in charge to try to appease the German government because of revelations of American espionage on Germany.  The USA is getting comfortable with this appointment, but there are dangers.

Did any Americans who remember World War II ever think that the USA would ever do anything like this?

Well, we in the Church of God have long taught that Germany would rise again. In the Continuing Church of God, we have specifically taught that because of the USA espionage issues (like Snowden) that the USA would try to appease Germany.

The USA is more and more putting itself in harm’s way with Europe in general and Germany in particular. If a German or European general is in charge of US armed forces in Europe when Europe attacks and beats the USA (cf. Daniel 11:39), the USA will lose faster than any thought.

It has long been my view that the Europeans will be surprised how relatively easy it will be to take over the USA when it is time.

The USA is being naive about this. But as its political and military leaders do not really believe and understand biblical prophecy, they think their ways to peace will work. The Bible teaches otherwise (cf. Isaiah 59:8).
