Far-Right Candidate Dubbed ‘Germany’s Most Dangerous Man’ Could Become Head Of A Federal State

August 17, 2026

A prominent candidate from Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party is drawing growing attention ahead of a state election in Saxony-Anhalt, amid concerns that the party could achieve a historic breakthrough and gain control of one of Germany’s federal states.

In an unusual cover story this week, the German news magazine Der Spiegel branded the candidate, Ulrich Siegmund, “the most dangerous man in Germany,” citing his hard-line positions on immigration and minorities and warning about the growing strength of the far right.

Siegmund rejected the criticism and instead described the cover as “excellent publicity.” He has even incorporated the Der Spiegel coverage into his election campaign, portraying the attention as evidence that his political movement is challenging Germany’s established political order.

The AfD has expanded its support in recent years, particularly in eastern Germany, building its political appeal around opposition to immigration, criticism of European Union policies and attacks on Germany’s political establishment in Berlin. …

Siegmund is the AfD’s leading candidate in Saxony-Anhalt, where the party has emerged as a major political force. If he were to become state premier, it would represent a major political milestone for the AfD and a historic breakthrough for a party that was founded in 2013.

It would also mark the first time that the AfD had succeeded in leading the government of one of Germany’s 16 federal states, making the election particularly significant for the country’s postwar political landscape. https://vinnews.com/2026/08/17/far-right-candidate-dubbed-germanys-most-dangerous-man-could-become-head-of-a-federal-state/

The mainstream press and political parties in Germany have been fearing the rise of the AfD and its candidates. In addition to policy matters, essentially the worry is that Ulrich Siegmund or someone else from the AfD party will rise and become the 21st century version of Adolf Hitler.

The AfD is considered Germany’s anti-migrant party–and it asserts migrants have been a major factor in crime and less peace.

Many in the mainstream would like it outlawed or banned:

Can Berlin declare Alternative for Germany (AfD) unconstitutional? What would be the consequences of banning the far-right party, the Bundestag’s largest opposition force? Those questions have recurred in Germany in recent years as the radical party has grown electorally. Upcoming regional elections in the east of the country, where polls give AfD a chance to govern for the first time, have revived the debate among politicians and jurists about the options for containing a party they regard as a threat to democracy.

The Social Democrats (SPD), which govern Germany in coalition with the center-right CDU and CSU, reopened the issue this August in an article by SPD co-leader Lars Klingbeil in the weekly Die Zeit. “Independent scholars have shown that AfD is planning to destroy our democracy and rule of law,” Klingbeil wrote. “The banning of the party is not only an option, it is a democratic duty to protect our country.”

The SPD leader was referring to conclusions in a report published in June by eight jurists from the NGO Society for the Protection of Freedom Rights (Gesellschaft für Freiheitsrechte, GFF), which finds that AfD violates this clause of Article 21 of the Basic Law: “Parties that, by reason of their aims or the behaviour of their adherents, seek to undermine or abolish the free democratic basic order or to endanger the existence of the Federal Republic of Germany shall be unconstitutional.” https://english.elpais.com/international/2026-08-17/germany-divided-over-proposals-to-outlaw-the-far-right.html

While the AfD has its own problems, its continued rise is demonstrating that Germans are becoming less tolerant of migrants and the status quo than many thought.

A while back, we put out the following video related to the AfD and Germany:

14:22

AfD: Prelude to a Hitler Beast?

Germany’s Alternative für Deutshland (Alternative for Germany in English) party celebrated its 10th anniversary on February 6, 2023.

It objects to:
❌More illegal migration
❌More asylum abuse
❌More crime
❌More housing shortage
❌More Cancel Culture

The AfD also asserts, “Now it’s time to change that. And that’s only possible with us.” Many are concerned that the AfD’s growing political influence will impact Germany. Can a strong man worse than Adolf Hitler, that the Bible calls the Beast rise up from Germany? Could Europe reorganize with a small backing to put this leader into place? Does the AfD want to make a deal with Russia? Will Germany make a future deal with Russia that would be opposed to the USA? Does the AfD want religion involved to meet its objectives in such a way that it could support the coming King of the North Beast power that the Bible warns will arise in Europe? Could Europe unite under such a leader according to scripture? Steve Dupuie and Dr. Thiel go over these matters.

Here is a link to our video: AfD: Prelude to a Hitler Beast?

The rise of AfD reminds some of pre-WWII Germany.

We are getting closer and closer to WWIII.

What will happen in Germany?

What will happen in Europe?

Change!

A reorganization is prophesied for Europe:

12 The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.  (Revelation 17:12-13)

But that change is still years away.

Earlier this year, a reader sent me a link to an interview with Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg related to the AfD (Guttenberg fordert offene Auseinandersetzung mit der AfD). Although I went to watch it, since it was in the German language I stopped watching it. But the reader sent the following about it in English:

Tensions have been simmering within the CDU/CSU alliance for some time now regarding the issue of a firewall against the AfD. While Chancellor and CDU Chairman Friedrich Merz continues to emphasize that there will be no cooperation with the AfD, some CDU politicians are questioning this stance. Former CDU Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg also believes the CDU’s current approach to the AfD is not entirely correct. Although he stresses that AfD officials must clearly be kept behind the firewall, he argues that dealing with the AfD cannot continue in the form of a boycott. He explains on Markus Lanz’s talk show how, from his perspective, the CDU should deal with the AfD.

In my view, the interview related to the AfD shows that Herr Guttenberg is still planning on becoming more involved with politics and he is working on building a vision of European politics which he hopes will lead him to gain support.

He may be positioning himself as an alternative to the AfD–which itself means: Alternatives for Germany (Deutschland).

In the past, Herr Guttenberg identified himself as a political animal–and actually as a type of a beast:

There’s no doubt whatsoever that I’m a political animal, a ‘zoon politicon’,” he told Die Zeit newspaper in what appeared to be a carefully orchestrated comeback after eight months away from the spotlight.   http://in.reuters.com/article/2011/11/24/idINIndia-60716820111124

“For Aristotle’s zoon politikon there are no persons beyond the walls of the city; outside the city there exist only beasts or gods.”

Regarding Baron Guttenberg and Donald Trump, back in December 2015, former German Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg called Donald Trump “that blonde lunatic named Donald” (Wish List or Reality? Digital Trends in 2016 | Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg | hub conference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgdZUA96UBU. Posted December 11, 2015; watch also Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg and Europe’s Future). Notice also:

Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, former German Defense Minister, warns of an erosion in transatlantic trust, exacerbated by the U.S. presidential-election season. The campaign anthem will be “forget Europe,” he says—and it won’t come only from Donald Trump. http://time.com/4154044/geopolitics-2016/

Since then, Herr Guttenberg has continued his criticisms of Donald Trump.

I also believe that this will assist him, from a political point of view, not only now, but in the future.

Particularly he was an early European critic of Donald Trump.

In a January 2026 TV appearance, he called Trump’s renewed claim over Greenland a “complete farce”, arguing Europe must respond coherently to U.S. pressure in the Arctic. He also warned Europe about Donald Trump at the WEF’s Davos conference earlier this year.

In 2011, the then 97 year-old former WWII codebreaker for the UK, Harry Beckhough put together a video where he stated he wanted:

… to introduce to you the man that may well become the new Führer of Germany … Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg … here is my man to watch as future Führer … more educated, more aristocratic … than Hitler (Europes New Fuhrer – by Harry Beckhough WW II Codebreaker, uploaded February 9, 2011. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LplCcxyPo4 viewed 20120501)

Notice what his wife Stephanie mentioned the following in an interview (machined translated from German to English):

When we got married, I knew that he wanted to get involved politically. (Und plötzlich ist dein Mann Minister. Bild, 15 02 2009. http://www.bild.de/BILD/politik/2009/02/15/bundeswirtschaftsminister-guttenberg-ehefrau/stephanie-im-interview.html)

So, the Baron has long had political ambitions.

There are some Roman Catholic predictions of an end time leader, sometimes known as the Great Monarch, who sounds like the Beast of the Revelation 13:1-10:

Abbot Joachim (died 1202): At that time a handsome monarch, a scion of King Pepin, will come as a pilgrim to witness the splendor of this glorious pontiff, whose name shall begin with R (Culleton, The Prophets and Our Times, pp. 147-148).

St. Caesar of Arles (died 543) …there will be a great Pope…This Pope shall have with him, the Great Monarch, a most virtuous man, who shall be a scion of the holy race of French kings…(Culleton, The Prophets and Our Times, p. 126).

Aystinger the German (12th century?): The shall arise in the last times a Prince sprung from Emperor Charles who shall recover the land of promise and reform the Church. He shall be Emperor of Europe. (Connor, p. 31)

Josefa von Bourg (d. 1807): God will choose a descendant of Constantine, Pepin, and St. Louis, who has been tried by a long period of exile to rule over Europe. He will have the sign of the cross on his breast…Under him the Catholic religion will spread as never before (Culleton, The Prophets and Our Times, pp. 181-182; Connor, p.37).

Blessed Johannes Amadeus de Sylva (15th century): Germany and Spain will unite under a great prince…until all countries unite under the Great Ruler (Dupont, p. 74).

Note: Although not commonly used in modern English, “scion” means “descendant.” It has been claimed that the Habsburg line descended from Charlemagne, and King Pepin was the father of Charlemagne. Many of the prophecies suggest that the Great Monarch is French in some manner (see also The Great Monarch: Biblical and Catholic Prophecies). But the Baron, while partially of Frankish (French) descent, is considered to be German–so he fits or does not fit depending upon how many of the prophecies are analyzed.

The Bible itself warns that a “prince” (Daniel 9:26-27) will become the “King of the North” (Daniel 11:31-40).

And perhaps, he will only remain a prince. While Herr Guttenberg is not ruling over Europe at this time, he still has influence and has been taking steps related to European politics. He may well rise much further in time, with just a small number of supporters initially (cf. Daniel 11:23).

The Baron remains someone to watch (Mark 13:37).

Probably much more than Ulrich Siegmund.

Though Ulrich Siegmund may trigger factors to get Germany to change, etc.
