German elections deal a blow to Chancellor Friedrich Merz

Two of Germany’s 16 federal states, Berlin and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, have just elected new state legislatures. The results for Chancellor Friedrich Merz‘s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) represent yet another major blow in turbulent times both nationally and internationally.
In northeastern Germany, projections suggest that the CDU narrowly failed to clear the 5% threshold for representation in parliament, a historic first in the party’s history.
In the German capital, the party that led the state government, lost nearly a third of its support, dropping to around 20%.
Just minutes after the first projections were released, Merz made a statement: “We can’t sugarcoat the results in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania — it was a disaster.” As for the heavy losses in Berlin, he described the outcome there as “reasonable.”
For the CDU, this marks the third electoral defeat in two weeks. In the state election in Saxony-Anhalt on September 6, the party came in far behind the Alternative for Germany (AfD), …
The AfD, on the other hand, nearly doubled its share of the vote compared to state elections in 2021, coming in first at 38%.
In Berlin, however, the SPD’s share of the vote fell by a third to 12%, while the AfD became the third-largest party, winning 16% of the vote. …

Many Germans like the anti-migrant and pro-German nationalists positions of the AfD. The AfD wants a strong leader and even though he is quite opposed to the AfD, Chancellor Merz seems to think strong leadership is needed.
In addition to referring to the AfD’s gain and his party’s loss as a disaster, just before the election Chancellor Merz made some transatlantic comments. While Chancellor Merz and those in his circle did not think a massive break with the USA was possible, the Bible prophesied that one who was great among the nations (Lamentations 1:1)–the USA–would turn friends into enemies (Lamentations 1:2).

13 EU countries call for ‘deep cleaning’ of European laws

Austria is leading a new alliance on regulatory simplification, pushing for a systematic review of how new rules would impact businesses and a “deep cleaning” of existing rules to be conducted during an “implementation and consolidation year.“
Thirteen member states are calling on Brussels to systematically design new EU legislation as pro-innovation and assess whether the current laws are still fit for purpose, as part of a broader push to cut red tape and make the bloc more business-friendly.
Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia and Slovakia signed a non-paper calling for “an exercise in legislative deep-cleaning” to determine, sector by sector, whether existing rules are still needed, need updating, or impose burdens without added value.
“EU legislation cannot be an end in itself. With the pro-AfD election results, Chancellor Merz’s public statements about the transatlantic relationship, and nearly half the European Union nation states calling for massive change, what will ultimately happen in Europe?
It will reorganize and give power to a strong man that the Bible calls the Beast:
12 The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)
As far as part of how, the Bible shows that a totalitarian leader will arise in Europe who, though talking peace, eventually will destroy places like the USA and UK:
24 His power shall be mighty, but not by his own power;
He shall destroy fearfully,
And shall prosper and thrive;
He shall destroy the mighty, and also the holy people.25 “Through his cunning
He shall cause deceit to prosper under his rule;
And he shall exalt himself in his heart.
He shall destroy many in their prosperity. (Daniel 8:24-25)39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain (Daniel 11:39).
25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. (Daniel 8:25, KJV).
23 And after the league is made with him he shall act deceitfully, for he shall come up and become strong with a small number of people. 24 He shall enter peaceably, even into the richest places of the province; and he shall do what his fathers have not done, nor his forefathers: he shall disperse among them the plunder, spoil, and riches; and he shall devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time. (Daniel 11:23-24, NKJV)
So this leader gives people the impression that there will be “peace” and is involved in some type of deal. This is the same leader that confirms the covenant in Daniel 9:27. The term is translated as “peace” in Daniel 8:25 is from the Hebrew term shalvah and essentially means security. In other words, this leader will destroy “many” who are under the impression that they are secure because of some type of security and/or trade arrangement. Such arrangements are now commonly referred to as peace deals or treaties.
The longest prophecy involving end-time Germany, Assyria in biblical prophecy, looks to be Isaiah 10:5-27. And this seems to be directed towards the modern Germanic and perhaps other peoples in Europe (note: since it is the “king of Assyria” who is specifically mentioned in certain portions of Isaiah 10, it may be that many of the specifics are directed towards this end time king himself–while other parts of it are related to the peoples that support him–which are expected to include also non-Germanic ones).
Here is the first portion of it:
5 “Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger And the staff in whose hand is My indignation. 6 I will send him against an ungodly nation, And against the people of My wrath I will give him charge, To seize the spoil, to take the prey, And to tread them down like the mire of the streets. 7 Yet he does not mean so, Nor does his heart think so; But it is in his heart to destroy, And cut off not a few nations. 8 For he says, ‘Are not my princes altogether kings? 9 Is not Calno like Carchemish? Is not Hamath like Arpad? Is not Samaria like Damascus? 10 As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, Whose carved images excelled those of Jerusalem and Samaria, 11 As I have done to Samaria and her idols, Shall I not do also to Jerusalem and her idols?’” (Isaiah 10:5-11)
In the above passages, we learn that God will use Assyria to punish Jerusalem and Samaria–the USA is prophetic Samaria! Other than the German tendency to cut off various nations in WWI and WWII, there are certain specifics that tie this in with the end time European power that God is going to use.
And the Bible in Daniel 11:24 shows that unlike losses in WWI and WWII, this European power will succeed in what could be called WWIII (see also Commentary on the Book of Daniel).
The world will not remain as it has been.
The end-time Babylonian European Beast will rise up.
