KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russian forces resumed scattered attacks on Kyiv, western Ukraine and beyond Saturday in an explosive reminder to Ukrainians and their Western supporters that the whole country remains under threat despite Russia’s pivot toward mounting a new offensive in the east.
Stung by the loss of its Black Sea flagship and indignant over alleged Ukrainian aggression on Russian territory, Russia’s military command had warned a day earlier of renewed missile strikes on Ukraine’s capital. Officials in Moscow said they were targeting military sites.
But the toll of war reaches much deeper. …
Kyiv was not the only target Saturday. The governor of the Lviv region in western Ukraine – far from the Russian border and an area long seen as a safe zone – reported airstrikes on the region by Russian Su-35 aircraft that took off from neighboring Belarus. Maksym Kozytskyy didn’t provide details about possible casualties or damage.
Fighting continued in the pummeled southern port city of Mariupol, where locals reported seeing Russian troops digging up bodies from residential courtyards and prohibiting new burials. …
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russian troops occupying parts of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions in the south of terrorizing civilians and hunting for anyone who served in Ukraine’s military or government.

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday told CNN he estimated the country has lost between 2,500 and 3,000 troops since the war began in February.
“As to our military, out of the numbers we have, we think that we lost 2,500 to 3,000, in comparison with the Russian military, who lost about 19 to 20,000,” Zelenskyy said. “That’s the comparison. But we have about 10,000 injured and it’s hard to say how many will survive”
Insider was unable to independently verify these numbers, but an anonymous NATO member estimated at the end of March that between 7,000 and 15,000 Russian troops have died in the conflict.

Russia’s war against Ukraine rages on. The U.S. and Europe continue to support Kiev. But not, it seems, to make peace. Rather, the allies are prepared to back the Zelensky government as long as it fights Moscow to the last Ukrainian. …
Allied governments have offered abundant weapons to Kiev and imposed excruciating sanctions on Moscow, all of which serves to keep Ukraine in the war. America and the Europeans have made clear that they do not intend to take part in combat. Equip Ukrainians to fight, sure. Help Ukrainians fight, forget it.
Most disturbing is the apparent failure of the allies to support what the Ukrainian people need most, peace. …
Obviously, it is up to Ukrainians to decide under what circumstance they will cease fighting. However, the U.S. and European governments should offer at least as much support for peace as war. The allies have in Ukraine above peace with Russia, even when the opportunity for peace presented itself after the 2014 hostilities.

PENTAGON TO KEEP THE WAR GOING, SENDS WEAPONS TO UKRAINE

The Pentagon is going to help keep the war going in Ukraine, by sending $800 million worth of weapons to the country. The delivery of weapons to be sent to Ukraine will include artillery, armored vehicles, and helicopters.
“The steady supply of weapons the United States and its allies and partners have provided to Ukraine has been critical in sustaining its fight against the Russian invasion. It has helped ensure that Putin failed in his initial war aims to conquer and control Ukraine. We cannot rest now,” Biden said in a statement released by the White House, after his call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. …
The United States also plans on sending Ukraine 18 155mm howitzers, some 40,000 rounds of ammunition, as well as 10 counter-artillery radars, two air surveillance radars, 200 M113 armored personnel carriers, 100 Humvee armored cars, and 11 Mi-17 helicopters. Other weapons listed by Kirby included 30,000 sets of body armor and helmets; chemical, biological, and nuclear protective equipment; anti-personnel landmines; C-4 explosives; and drone boats, described as “unmanned coastal defense vessels.” …
Russia has already seen this move as a provocation and previously warned NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) that any convoys transporting weapons and equipment to Ukraine will be considered legitimate military targets.

Unless Vladimir Putin dies, is removed, converts, or changes, he will continue to fight until he gets what he will claim is some type of victory.
For the sake of argument, let’s assume that the Ukrainians are killing a lot more Russians than the Russians are killing Ukrainians.
Does that mean that Ukraine will ‘win’ this conflict?
No.
Having seen the destruction to many Ukrainian cities and towns, even if Russia were to cease all hostilities now, Ukraine has suffered massive losses.
Those who know American history realize that the North/Union had more weapons and troops than the South/Confederates did. It has been claimed that there were 360,222 Union deaths and 258,000 Confederate deaths. The North spent a lot more money than the South in the war as well. The Confederacy finally surrendered after major losses in battle and because the North, under General Sherman, engaged in a scorched earth policy to destroy and burn cities and towns in the South.
Vladimir Putin must know this.
He also must be keenly aware of the siege of Leningrad, where Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin had a stand off between the German and Russian troops for nearly three years. Russia outlasted Germany. This is considered to be a major victory by Russia and is still celebrated to this day.
That being said, most who profess Christianity do understand that Jesus was the “Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).
Christians are to pray for God’s kingdom to come (Matthew 6:10).
The Bible tells of a time when Jesus comes, that people will not learn war anymore:
3 He shall judge between many peoples,
And rebuke strong nations afar off;
They shall beat their swords into plowshares,
And their spears into pruning hooks;
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
Neither shall they learn war anymore. (Micah 4:3)2 Now it shall come to pass in the latter days
That the mountain of the Lord’s house
Shall be established on the top of the mountains,
And shall be exalted above the hills;
And all nations shall flow to it.
3 Many people shall come and say,
“Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
To the house of the God of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways,
And we shall walk in His paths.”
For out of Zion shall go forth the law,
And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
4 He shall judge between the nations,
And rebuke many people;

Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,

Yes, instead of destruction there will be more food production. Until God’s kingdom, things will get worse in many parts of the world.
