COGwriter

The January 2008 edition of Dixon Cartwright’s The Journal is now out.

The main stories include Legacy’s visit to King Bhumibol of Thailand’s 80th birthday, UCG’s pending move to Texas (see also United Church of God Buys Texas Property), that the Big Sandy COG expelled a board member (see also Church of God Big Sandy Reports Board Problem), Tom Kerry, the two witnesses, doors, Feast of Tabernacles reports, Chuck Dickerson, and various letters to the editor.

FWIW, my writings were mentioned in one article and two letters to the editor.

Related to Tom Kerry, The Journal reported:

Tom Kerry, pastor of the Church of God New Orleans, which meets in Gretna, La., says reports of his indictment on a charge of bankruptcy fraud in November 2007 don’t tell the whole story…

Mr. Kerry said he is glad for the opportunity to “clarify” the situation after THE JOURNAL asked him to comment on a news account of his indictment.

“The news release was in reference to my bankruptcy a couple of years ago in relation to a nonreported financial account,” he said.

“The truth is I did not report the account. The understanding I had received from my original attorney—fired early on—was that I was allowed to retain that account because that particular account was my only means of support at the time.”

The money-market account was one Mr. Kerry used to “trade on Wall Street,” he said.

The Journal also reported:
