2016: Debate time for Europe while Obama wants more gun control

The BBC reports that 2016 will be a time for debates in Europe:

January 1, 2016

It was the year when crises came in waves pounding the shoreline and prompting leaders and officials to fret over the future of the European project.

In 2016 the migrant crisis will once again shape debate. It may subside during the winter months but it will return in the spring. The world knows that Germany has taken in over a million refugees. Its generosity will be tested further.

Angela Merkel’s political future is bound up in the numbers of migrants that will arrive in 2016. …

Testing values

The year will also test Europe’s determination to live up to its values. Will it stand up for press freedom in Turkey, or will necessity silence its voice?

The migrant crisis will also determine the future of the passport-free Schengen area. In the short term I expect more border controls and fences until Europe finds a way to process the new arrivals and limit their numbers.

Europe’s leaders have said repeatedly that it will be impossible to defend its passport-free area unless its external borders are secure. …

UK referendum

The European establishment will be nervous about the UK referendum on its future in Europe.

The expectation is that David Cameron will hold an in-out referendum in the summer of 2016.

The view in Brussels is that a deal will be done in February enabling the prime minister to claim Britain’s relationship with the EU has changed.

There certainly are issues in Europe. Some believe the European Union cannot continue, while others believe that it must.

The Bible teaches that Europe will have many internal issues, but will for a time, its final kingdom will be somewhat unified:

41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. (Daniel 2:41-43)

The Bible also shows that Europe will reorganize, though I do not expect the reorganizations prophesied in Revelation 17:12-13 to happen in 2016 (see also Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?). But we are beginning to see some of the stage being set for that.

What about the United Kingdom?

In 2016, British Prime Minister Cameron hopes to get some concessions from the EU, so that those in the UK will vote to remain in the EU.

But there is opposition to this. We will see how the vote goes (if it is in 2016 as David Cameron could wait until 2017 for it).

The biblical reality is that the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will not be an equal part of the European Union. Britain will either pull out or be forced out or at least truly lose its sovereignty. The Bible indicates that the end time descendants of the Israelite tribes, because of their national sins, will be taken over and many killed (Ezekiel 5).

As far as the USA goes, some are expressing pleasure that 2016 is the last full calendar year that Barack Obama will be president. However, Barack Obama has plans of his own as he hopes to have more lasting impact on the USA:

By this time next year, President Obama’s successor will have been elected, but before he goes, he still has things he intends to finish in the remaining 12 months of his presidency.

“We think the lame duck moniker is dead,” a senior administration official told CBS News. Another official told CBS that the president has instructed his senior staff to “squeeze every last drop of progress out of the final year.”

The president will fight to preserve gains in areas including “access to affordable health care, expanding the green economy, implementing the Iran deal” and continuing the normalization of relations with Cuba,” the official said. …

President Obama made his New Year’s resolution known on Thursday: trample the Second Amendment under executive orders.

White House officials told CNN on Thursday that Obama’s gun-control measures are “imminent.” Supporters of the president said they expect an announcement to be made sometimes before the annual State of the Union address scheduled for Jan. 12. http://www.wnd.com/2015/12/obamas-new-years-resolution-take-your-guns/#PwcmHTZPJErzidEo.99

Barack Obama was instrumental in increasing the national debt of the USA and promoting the homosexual agenda. Those are two of several items that will have long-term negative impacts, consistent with biblical prophecies (e.g. Habakkuk 2:6-8; Romans 1:18-32) on the USA.

Both the UK and USA face challenges that their government leaders cannot properly resolve. We all need to pray “Thy kingdom come” (Matthew 6:10).

Continental Europe faces its own set of challenges. And while it will last about 3 1/2 years beyond the time that the USA, UK, and their Anglo-Saxon descended allies (Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) will, Europe’s leaders will not solve all its issues as Jesus will come and takeover (Daniel 11:44; Revelation 17:14).

Until then, look to see the stage being set for Europe to rise up (with difficulties) and the USA to lose more of its international leadership (though with some successes at time).
