A new poll in Germany has delivered yet another shocking blow to the political establishment. The Alternative for Germany (AfD) has reached 30 percent for the first time while stretching its lead over the Christian Democrats (CDU/CSU) to 10 points, with the Union reaching a historic low of just 20 percent. In addition, another poll has also put the CDU even lower, at 18 percent.
According to the GMS poll, the governing black-red coalition of Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s conservatives and the far-left SPD would no longer command a majority. Compared with GMS’s mid-July survey, the Union lost three points and the AfD gained two.
“Important milestone cracked: With 30%, our AfD is now already 10 percentage points ahead of the Union! The citizens want the political change – and they will get it. Time for the AfD!” wrote AfD co-leader Alice Weidel on X.
A new YouGov poll released today has the AfD at 29 percent but the CDU is even lower, at 18 percent, an absolutely abysmal result for the paryt.
The numbers arrive days after the CDU’s heavy defeat in Saxony-Anhalt, where the AfD won 43.8 percent. Merz himself described the result as a shock for his party.

The election victory of the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt left people around the world alarmed. Many fear that the AfD will revive Germany’s dark past. These fears are not unfounded … But we can also be certain that many of the AfD’s policies will not come to pass because they are contrary to Bible prophecy. …
No to a United States of Europe
The AfD’s party program for the European elections in 2024 stated:
We reject [a European Union] that seeks to transform itself into a state with legislative authority and its own government, as well as the idea of the “United States of Europe.” Only in nation-states with democratic constitutions can popular sovereignty and the fundamental rights of citizens be exercised and preserved.
The Bible reveals that a “United States of Europe” with its “own government” will come. …
The AfD’s appeal to national sovereignty is contrary to this prophesied direction. …
AfD rejects a joint European army. Its party program reads:
The AfD opposes a European army and remains committed to a fully capable Bundeswehr as the cornerstone of German sovereignty. With its own strong armed forces, Germany will be in a position to replace U.S. forces on German soil in the medium term.
The AfD also rejects a common European currency and demands the abolishment of the Euro and the reintroduction of national currencies. …
Relations With Russia
The AfD’s stance toward Russia is more complicated. Its Bundestag election program 2025 states:
Restoring unhindered trade with Russia includes the immediate lifting of economic sanctions against Russia and the restoration of the Nord Stream pipelines. …
However, there is something the AfD doesn’t understand about this alliance. Germany and Russia will only be temporary allies before they clash. …

Josué Michels is basically correct on the above points.
However, some of its objectives will be met. The AfD wants a powerful Germany, less migrants, better relations with Russia, and a stronger leader. Related to the migrant and Russia, notice the following:
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz accused the Alternative for Germany on Wednesday of supporting Russia against Germany’s interests and advocating anti-migration policies that were tantamount to “ethnic cleansing”. Many in the mainstream have wanted the AfD to be outlawed or banned. But such talk over the years, seems to have strengthen the appeal of the AfD. And yes, Germany will one day make a major deal with Russia, yet one day Russia will lead an alliance against the coming Germanic European Beast power (see also Russia and Ukraine: Their Origins and Prophesied Future).
While the AfD has its own problems, its continued rise is demonstrating that Germans are becoming less tolerant of migrants and the status quo than many thought.
