Mass Protests Erupt Throughout Iran, Central Bank Burned Down

Following the rise in fuel prices, mass civil unrest has broken out throughout Iran. The Ayatollah supported a decision to increase the cost of gasoline by at least 50%. Khamenei appeared to be blaming foreign enemies for what he described as “sabotage” and called those setting public property on fire “thieves”. Meanwhile, Protestors have burned down Iran’s Central Bank.

… protestors can be heard chanting “death to the dictator”. …Appearing tired of the Islamic Republic’s anti-Israel rhetoric, protestors can be seen chanting:”We have no money or fuel, to hell with Palestine.”

Iran’s supreme leader Sunday backed the government’s decision to raise gasoline prices and called angry protesters who have been setting fire to public property over the hike “thugs,” signaling a potential crackdown on the demonstrations.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s comments came as authorities apparently shut down the internet across Iran to smother the protests in about two dozen cities and towns over the rise of government-set prices by 50% as of Friday.

Since the hike, demonstrators have abandoned their cars along major highways and joined mass protests in the capital, Tehran, and elsewhere. Some protests turned violent, with demonstrators setting fires and there was also gunfire.

It remains to be seen how many people have been injured, killed or arrested. Authorities on Saturday said only one person was killed, though other videos from the protests have shown people gravely wounded.

State television address

In an address aired by state television Sunday, Khamenei said “some people had died and some centers destroyed,” without elaborating. He called violent protesters “thugs” who had been pushed into violence by counterrevolutionaries and foreign enemies of Iran.

“Setting a bank on fire is not an act done by the people. This is what thugs do,” Khamenei said.

However, he made a point to back the decision of Iran’s relatively moderate President Hassan Rouhani and others to raise gasoline prices. Gasoline in the country still remains among the cheapest in the world, with the new prices jumping up to a minimum of 15,000 rials per liter of gas — up 50% from the day before. That’s 13 cents a liter, or about 50 cents a gallon. On average a gallon of regular gasoline in the U.S. costs $2.60 by comparison.

Khamenei ordered security forces “to implement their tasks” and for Iran’s citizens to keep clear of violent demonstrators.

That seemed to indicate a possible crackdown could be looming. …

Internet outages

Iranian internet access meanwhile saw disruptions and outages Friday night into Saturday, according to the group NetBlocks, which monitors worldwide internet access. By Saturday night, “real-time network data show connectivity has fallen to just 7% of ordinary levels following 12 hours of progressive network disconnections as public protests have continued across the country,” NetBlocks said.

“The ongoing disruption is the most severe recorded in Iran since President Rouhani came to power, and the most severe disconnection tracked by NetBlocks in any country in terms of its technical complexity and breadth,” the group said. Iran is having protests for financial and other reasons. This is something that US President Donald Trump has helped set up through sanctions, etc.

So now, it looks like Iran has cut internet access so that the protesters cannot get their message out.

I have long written that Iran was subject to civil unrest. Notice something posted back in 2010, 2012, and 2013:

Since Iran is NOT going to be the leader of the final King of the South, something is likely to happen (an attack from Israel/USA and/or civil unrest/revolution are two possibilities) to stop Iran from getting enough power to lead the final Islamic confederation. The Bible shows that a confederation of Arab states, most definitely including Egypt, will form (Daniel 11:40-43; Ezekiel 30:1-9). Syria will likely support this and it will not be led by Iran (who, as I have written for some time, will likely be neutralized some way–perhaps involving civil unrest, regional conflict, emp weapons, and/or nuclear weapons, etc.). Because Bible prophecy indicates that it will be primarily Arabic nations that support the final King of the South (Daniel 11:40-43; Ezekiel 30:1-8), though with some (probably temporary per Daniel 11:25-26) support from Turkey, it is not biblically likely that Iran can truly be the leader of the Islamic world as it seems to want to be. Iran will be effectively neutralized, as I have long written, perhaps from an attack involving Israel and/or internal civil unrest (this could include electromagnetic [EMP] or similar weapons used against Iran. Despite protesters against Iran’s involvement in Palestinian matters, the Bible shows that it is expected that God will allow Iran to strike the nation of Israel, and that the damage would be great:

1 The burden against the Valley of Vision.

What ails you now, that you have all gone up to the housetops, 2 You who are full of noise, A tumultuous city, a joyous city? Your slain men are not slain with the sword, Nor dead in battle. 3 All your rulers have fled together; They are captured by the archers. All who are found in you are bound together; They have fled from afar. 4 Therefore I said, “Look away from me, I will weep bitterly; Do not labor to comfort me Because of the plundering of the daughter of my people.”

5 For it is a day of trouble and treading down and perplexity By the Lord God of hosts In the Valley of Vision — Breaking down the walls And of crying to the mountain. 6 Elam bore the quiver With chariots of men and horsemen, And Kir uncovered the shield. 7 It shall come to pass that your choicest valleys Shall be full of chariots,And the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate.

8 He removed the protection of Judah. You looked in that day to the armor of the House of the Forest; 9 You also saw the damage to the city of David, That it was great; And you gathered together the waters of the lower pool. 10 You numbered the houses of Jerusalem, And the houses you broke down To fortify the wall. 11 You also made a reservoir between the two walls For the water of the old pool. But you did not look to its Maker, Nor did you have respect for Him who fashioned it long ago.

12 And in that day the Lord God of hosts Called for weeping and for mourning,For baldness and for girding with sackcloth. 13 But instead, joy and gladness, Slaying oxen and killing sheep, Eating meat and drinking wine: “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”

14 Then it was revealed in my hearing by the Lord of hosts,”Surely for this iniquity there will be no atonement for you, Even to your death,” says the Lord God of hosts. (Isaiah 22:1-14 NKJV)

Elam seems to be a reference to at least some in Iran. Kir is of interest as it has several possibilities. One is that the Bible tells that after Tiglath-Pileser, king of Assyria, took over Damascus, he moved Syrians to Kir. While this does not mean that Kir must (or must only) be a reference to Syria, the fact that Syria is an ally of Iran is interesting. Some believe Kir is an area in the south of Iran, while others suggest closer to the Black Sea. The Bible tells of a time when Kir will be destroyed (Isaiah 15:1b) and also says that Syria’s capital Damascus will be destroyed (Isaiah 17:1).

Anyway, the point I wish to make is that Isaiah 22 shows that Iran looks to be prophesied to be involved in serious military action against Israel.

This could be initiated in order to hope to shore up domestic support in Iran as well as to deal with issues with Israel itself.

Protests against Palestine may harden support for military action against Jerusalem, and perhaps speed up the timing.

Timing which, I suspect, will be relatively soon.

Evangelical support for Donald Trump’s Jerusalem policy BBC asked, “Why do US evangelicals support Trump’s Jerusalem policy?” BBC provided quotes from some believing it has to do with the ‘last days’ while others saying that is not the reason.
