Governments across the world scrambled to organize the return of their citizens from the Middle East on Wednesday as travel across the region remained heavily disrupted by the widening Iran war. …

Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, picked up on claims by Marco Rubio, the US secretary of state, that the US had acted largely because it knew Israel was about to attack and that would make the US a target for Iran. Araghchi said this seemed a case of Israel and not America First:
“Trump was fed false information by the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu about Iran’s military defence and deterrent capabilities. The question is whether Israel, with deliberate miscalculation, made the US a victim of its own interests.”
He warned European powers not to help the US launch airstrikes against Iran, saying: “It would be an act of war. Any such act against Iran would be regarded as complicity with the aggressors.”
The UK has said it is willing to allow the US to use its airbases in the UK and the base at Diego Garcia to attack Iran as long as the attacks on Iranian missile sites are part of a defensive operation to protect the economies of the Gulf states.
Iranian tensions with Gulf states continued as Tehran pursued its long-signalled plan to create chaos in global markets by attacking US assets across the region. Yes, there has been a lot of chaos and destruction in many parts of the Middle East.

This morning our commander opened up the combat readiness status briefing by urging us to not be “afraid” as to what is happening with our combat operations in Iran right now. He urged us to tell our troops that this was “all part of God’s divine plan” and he specifically referenced numerous citations out of the Book of Revelation referring to Armageddon and the imminent return of Jesus Christ. He said that “President Trump has been anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth”. He had a big grin on his face when he said all of this which made his message seem even more crazy. Our commander would probably be described as a “Christian First” supporter. He has been this way for a very long time and makes it clear that he desires all of us under him to become just like him as a Christian. But what he did this morning was so toxic and over the line that it shocked many of us in attendance at the ops readiness briefing.
So, it looks like a Protestant military commander is excited for Donald Trump to cause the start of the end of the world. While there will be many unintended consequences of Donald Trump’s presidency which will help lead to the end, encouraging war and violence for that is not a Christian thing to do.
Jesus told Peter:
52 … Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. (Matthew 26:52)

Something else that is interesting about this is that some in Iran believe that causing chaos is a necessary step for a leader known as the Imam Mahdi to arise and make the world Islamic–and they hope under Iranian leadership–but Iran is NOT prophesied to lead the Islamic world (cf. Daniel 11:40-43). Notice a predominantly Shi’ite view:
The last days, as described in Islam, are marked by the figures of Gog and Magog (Juj wa Jajuj), the Mahdi, the Antichrist (Dajjal), and Jesus…Gog and Magog, representing the forces of chaos, have been kept at bay…At the end of time, chaos will break through the wall of Divinely imposed order, and the world will succumb to “outer darkness”. At the same time, it is believed, there will be a countercurrent, or a brief return to the state of spiritual lucidity and primordial integrity that obtained at the dawn of time. This is the reign of the Mahdi, the “rightly guided one”…
The reign of the Mahdi will be followed by that of the Antichrist… once the Antichrist has led away his followers, Jesus will then come to destroy the Antichrist in the closing moments of the cosmic drama. (Glasse C. New Encyclopedia of Islam: A Revised Edition of the Concise Encyclopedia of Islam, 3rd edition, 2008, pp. 143, 316).
Iranians tend to believe that the Imam Mahdi is in a type of suspended animation, and that he will become public after a time of chaos. We even saw Iran’s Alireza Panahian calling for the virus’ spread to help provide more chaos (see Iran warns that millions may die from COVID-19 after its Alireza Panahian calls for deliberate spreading of the disease to fulfill Islamic prophecy related to the Mahdi).
So, this US commander’s views about Donald Trump seem to somewhat parallel this.
The commander’s view reminded me of Protestants who have long felt that Donald Trump is the “trump of God.” Related to that, here is chapter 6 from my free eBook Unintended Consequences and Donald Trump’s Presidency:
- ‘Trump of God’ and Christianity
Donald Trump’s last name “Trump” is a word suggesting a trumpet blast.
Yet, technically it is a little different:
Trump: Donald Trump’s father was a German immigrant. When he arrived in the United States, he spelled his surname, Drumpf, but Anglicized it to Trump. His earliest known ancestor was a lawyer, Hans Drumpf. This shifting of d to t in German has been common, e.g. vader → vater (English: father). Drumpf is a corruption of Trumpf, which is derived from the German word, trumme, meaning drummer. [i]
So, in his case, “Trump” means a drummer, not a trumpet blast, like some seem to have assumed.
Some Protestants have claimed that Donald Trump could be the ‘trump of God.’ Here are three:
I am not suggesting that Donald Trump absolutely *IS* the last trump – but since the LAST TRUMP is one of the most clear and final signs in end times prophecy, can we overlook the possibility that a presidential candidate named Trump is being used as a sign by God? …
As for biblical clues on an end times TRUMP:
First, Paul wrote to the Church at Thessalonica, “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words” (I Thess. 4:13-18).
Second, Paul wrote to the Church at Corinth, “Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality” (I Cor. 15:51-53). …
I strongly suspect that 2016-2019 will wrap up the fulfillment of all end times Bible prophecy.[ii]
This is Chapter 1 of a series of signs from God, of the Apocalypse and Mr. Trump is one of those signs!
King James Bible: 1 Corinthians 15:52
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
All Biblical musicians know that the last trump equals a musical note! So that would mean the last note or sound coming out of the trumpet! So when Mr. Donald J. Trump speaks his last word, that will be the last note. This is a spiritual sign!
This is the key to interpreting Revelation …
Why Mr. Donald J. Trump, (the trump of God) will be an act of grace. It will call the undeserving Church into heaven.[iii]
Ever since it was announced that Donald Trump would run for President nine years ago the name Trump resonated with me because of my familiarity with 1 Corinthians 15:52. …
The trumpet that summons the church is called “the trump of God…”
The irony of having a world leader with the name “Trump”, exposing the coming beast builders, at the exact point in history when all the prophetic signs of Jesus’ return are seemingly appearing exponentially is nothing short of astounding. …
His “ last term “ and not a continuation of his first presidency. Even in that way, God would have used the phrase “last Trump” to give us a clue that the rapture is at the door.
None of us know for sure how this will play out but it seems like more than a coincidence that God is using a man named “Trump” at this late hour! [iv]
I do not believe that Donald Trump’s name is specifically related to scriptures in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 or 1 Corinthians 11:51-53. Those are end time prophecies related to the return of Jesus, not a Donald Trump Administration.
That said, in my previous book on Donald Trump, I specifically denounced the idea that end time biblical prophecy could be wrapped up by 2019.
Also at my COGwriter.com website, I denounced false prophets including Gerald Flurry, who declared that Joe Biden would not take office in 2021, but that Donald Trump would remain in office then.
His Faith
Donald Trump claims to be a non-denominational Christian.
His commitment to Christianity has been questioned by this author and others for reasons such as the following:
- He was committed to abortion rights, which is in conflict with the Bible and is the killing of innocents (Deuteronomy 21:9; Isaiah 44:24; 59:7-8). While he has stated he changed that position, and appointed US Supreme Court justices who repealed the federal Roe vs. Wade pro-abortion ruling, he took a less anti-abortion position when he ran for reelection in 2024.
- Donald Trump has publicly stated that he has never repented. The Apostle Peter listed repentance is necessary to be a Christian (Acts 2:38).
- He has been an apparently unrepentant adulterer on multiple occasions.
- Donald Trump has promoted aspects of lust and sexual immorality through his life, his businesses, and various statements he has made. This is not good (cf. Romans 1:18-32).
- He specifically claims that political forms of covetousness (such as taking from other nations) are consistent with his values (cf. 2 Timothy 3:1).
- He does not seem to value his word. He often will make public statements and then not hold himself to them. One of God’s real people normally would keep their word, even when difficult (cf. Psalm 15:1-4).
- Certain reports, as well as statements he has made, have suggested that Donald Trump is sometimes a vengeful person. Christians are not to take vengeance per Romans 12:19.
- His views on debt, including his willingness to consider that debt is no risk as he can default, is not only considered to be wicked (cf. Psalm 37:21), it is also contrary to Jesus’ statement, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).
- Donald Trump does not believe, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God” (Luke 4:4).
Donald Trump does not practice biblical Christianity. Maybe someday, he will change.

Donald is not the ‘trump of God.’
But he is contributing to chaos–chaos that will help lead to the end.
