Mexico continues to be essentially following the lead of Europe related to digital currency:
The Mexican Government Is Close to Approving a Law Aimed at Removing the Use of Cash
October 30, 2026
Will an effort to limit and eventually ban cash payments work in a nation where 80 to 90 percent of payments are made in cash?
On Wednesday, the Mexican government inched closer to passing a law that would begin the process of phasing out cash payments and requiring digital payments.
The “Digital Economy Law” was first introduced by President Claudia Sheinbaum in early September and has since moved rapidly through official commissions and the Chamber of Deputies. Most recently, on October 14, the bill passed out of two Senate commissions and now awaits a full Senate vote in the coming weeks.
The bill is part of an ongoing effort by the Sheinbaum government and the Morena party to expand the digitization of Mexico’s economy. It instructs Mexico’s Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) to designate which business sectors will eventually only accept digital and electronic forms of payment. …
Sheinbaum and her party allies have said the measures will make life easier for Mexicans because “they do not have to bring cash” and will “be able to pay from the cell phone or through other mechanisms directly.” …
The full Senate is expected to debate and vote on the bill in the following week. With the Morena Party’s current majority, it is likely to pass. It will then be sent to President Sheinbaum for her signature before it is published in the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF).
According to the latest text of the bill, once the bill is signed and published it will become law. Within fifteen business days after the law enters into force, the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit must publish the “strategic sectors and relevant activities” in which digital payments may become the only accepted form of payment. Fifteen days after that, the relevant legal authorities for those specific sectors must issue detailed administrative rules outlining the conditions, requirements, and a timeline of implementation. …
Emilio Romano, the head of the Association of Banks of Mexico (ABM), also made it clear that the Mexican Central Bank and the international bankers were working diligently to shift Mexico away from cash and towards a digital economy. https://activistpost.com/the-mexican-government-is-close-to-approving-a-law-aimed-at-removing-the-use-of-cash/
Pushing digital payments down to consumers is something that the European Union is doing:
By the end of 2026, every EU country must legally offer citizens a European Digital Identity Wallet. This smartphone app holds a person’s government ID, driving licence, diploma, and other verified documents in one place and is designed to work across all 27 EU countries.
Digital rights groups warn the technology and the safeguards meant to protect it are not ready and that the wallet could become exactly the kind of surveillance tool it was designed to prevent.
“We are at maybe 50-60% of the technical standards that are needed to build this wallet,” says Thomas Lohninger, executive director of Austrian digital rights group epicenter.works and a board member of European Digital Rights (EDRi). “The other 40% are not there yet. They do not exist.” …
The regulation mandates technical defences: tamper-resistant cryptographic hardware to store keys, credentials bound to a specific device so they can’t be copied, authentication for any organisation requesting data, and a rule requiring users to be notified within 24 hours of a revoked credential. …
Centralising a person’s identity, health data, driving licence, and financial credentials on one device raises the cost of a single security failure. A stolen phone, malicious app, or cloud breach could expose everything at once. …
The wallet’s core privacy pledge is selective disclosure: someone proving they are over 18 should be able to share only that fact, not their name, address or ID number. The EDPS calls this “authorisation without identification”, a defence against tracking and profiling that a physical ID card can’t offer.
Lohninger frames the risk as “over-identification.” Verifying someone’s identity online is currently slow and costly; banks and mobile carriers pay to do it under anti-money-laundering rules. The wallet could make identification very fast, cheap, and widely available, he warns. This creates an incentive to strip away anonymity that currently exists on social networks or in email sign-ups.
He also raises what EDRi calls the “panopticon” risk. The same wallet could be used for taxes, healthcare, public transport, banking and logging into Facebook; previously separate areas of life could become linkable through one system. “These areas of life could become connected,” he says. “There’s this big risk of a panopticon where you can really see everything from everyone.” …
Much of the technology meant to make the wallet both secure and private doesn’t exist yet, Lohninger says. https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2026/09/17/one-wallet-27-systems-can-the-eu-build-an-untraceable-digital-id
We are getting closer to the day, with technologies unheard of when God inspired prophets like John in the Book of Revelation to warn what would happen–like computers, mobile telephones, and AI–that the totalitarian Beast of Revelation will be able use to assist his 666 reign. Many nations are moving in that direction–and yes, that includes Mexico.
The use of digital payments is a partial prelude to the coming ‘666’ controls the Bible prophesies in the following:
15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:15-18)
Governments and globalist organizations are pushing for the implementation of tools that will help fulfill biblical prophecies on totalitarian control.
The Bible teaches that the European Beast and his supporters will put in totalitarianism beyond what most believe is now possible (cf. Revelation 13).
He and his supporters will claim to help the climate, economy, security, etc., but that will not end up well (cf. Revelation 11:15; 18:1-20).
Digital payment systems are not the answer. A totalitarian system is coming.
The ONLY real solution for the problems facing humanity is repentance, the return of Jesus, and the good news of the coming Kingdom of God.
