‘Terrorist shot dead’ outside synagogue after killing two people

Two people have died and three more are seriously injured after a car was driven into a crowd of people outside of a synagogue in Crumpsall, Greater Manchester.

Greater Manchester Police were called to the scene at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue at 9.31am and declared a major incident six minutes after.

Two victims have now been confirmed dead.

A third man, believed to be the offender, is also believed to be dead but ‘cannot currently be confirmed due to safety issues surround suspicious items on his person’. …

Rabbi Jonathan Romain, of Maidenhead Synagogue and head of the Rabbinic Court of Great Britain, said the incident would raise fears among Jews that political violence could turn to religious hatred.

“This is every Rabbi’s or every Jewish person’s worst nightmare,” he said. “Not only is this a sacred day, the most sacred in the Jewish calendar, but it’s also a time of mass gathering, and the time when the Jewish community, however religious or irreligious, gathers together.”

Antisemitic incidents in the U.K. have soared following Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel and Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza, according to Community Security Trust, an advocacy group for British Jews that works to eliminate antisemitism.

Yes, this was a terrorist act, by someone who was probably at least sympathetic to the goals of ISIS.

Earlier this year, on the Day of Pentecost in Boulder, Colorado there was terrorism against Jews who were walking in support of getting the hostages released in Gaza (see Jews were terrorized on Pentecost, and one Holocaust survivor was hospitalized).

The Bible warns:

5 They have corrupted themselves; They are not His children, Because of their blemish: A perverse and crooked generation. … 25 The sword shall destroy outside; There shall be terror within (Deuteronomy 32:5,25)

We are seeing terror within the nation of the UK as well as other places.

There is a lot of hate and anti-Semitism around the world, and this includes the USA which has long called itself, “The land of the free and the home of the brave.”

Yes, Jews are being targeted.

Many want Jews gone and many (particularly in the US media and academia) also want Christians gone.

There was a poem many years ago by Martin Niemöller:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

It is not just physical, ethnic Jews that are at risk–spiritual ones are as well (cf. Romans 2:28-29; John 15:20; see also The Spanish Inquisition and Early Protestant Persecutions).

Throughout history, true Christians have sometimes been called “Jews” and have been subject to persecution supposedly directed towards Jews. True Christians also had to suffer through the so-called Inquisition (see The Spanish Inquisition), which utilized torture against those that had Church of God beliefs–and more is expected in the future (see Persecutions by Church and State). Protestant leaders, including Martin Luther, have also promoted antisemitism and Church of God persecution (see The Similarities and Dissimilarities between Martin Luther and Herbert W. Armstrong) as have various ones who were Eastern Orthodox (see John Chrysostom, Bishop of Constantinople and Antisemite).

Real Christians have always been on the side of being persecuted and have never been on the side of the persecutors. And this will be true again in the future.

People should not be antisemitic. People should not hate others.

Sadly, we will see persecution greatly increase before Jesus returns (cf. Daniel 7:25; 11:30-35; see also Persecutions by Church and State)–this will affect Philadelphian Christians.

But, like Satan, those that hate are willing to terrorize people of all groups.

In Michigan, several days ago, there was another incident where a terrorist drove his car into people at worship services:

• At least four people were killed and eight others were wounded … in a shooting at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, police said.

• Authorities say a gunman rammed a vehicle through the front of the church during a large service, began shooting and then intentionally set a fire that grew into a large blaze. Police believe they may still find victims in the burned-out building.

• Officers exchanged fire with the gunman and killed him, according to police. Investigators have identified the man as Thomas Jacob Sanford, a 40-year-old from the nearby city of Burton. https://www.cnn.com/us/live-news/church-shooting-fire-michigan-09-28-25

Jesus warned:

2 They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service. 3 And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me. (John 16:2-3)

Those killing Jews and Mormons are not doing God a service, but instead are serving Satan. Jesus taught that Satan “was a murderer from the beginning” (John 8:44), so it is little wonder that some who serve him are murderers as well.

The Bible teaches:

9 ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Enough, O princes of Israel! Remove violence and plundering, execute justice and righteousness (Ezekiel 45:9)

9…You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. (Romans 13:9-10)

Terrorists do not love their neighbor.

The further that the UK and USA move away from biblical morality, the more violence we will see.

The Bible shows that immorality leads to violence and destruction:

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality…30…violent, proud, boasters,…31…unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:28-32)

Consider also the following prophecy for the last days:

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, (2 Timothy 3:1-4).

These terrorists are brutal, despisers of good.

We are in the last days, so expect more “terror within.”

Jesus warned:

8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:8)

We are in a time of “troubles.” We are in the “beginning of sorrows.”

A worse time of ‘tribulation‘ is coming (Mark 13:19) and is getting closer.

But, ultimately, there will be good news.

Jesus will return and the millennial Kingdom of God will be established, and terroristic crimes will be stopped.
