Is the end coming in 2022? What about 2023?

Some have claimed so.

Nearly two thousand years ago, Jesus’ disciples specifically asked Him how to know when this would happen (Matthew 24:3; Mark 13:4; Luke 21:7)–and He responded with details. Several of those details are yet to be fulfilled.

But sadly, many overlook what Jesus taught, but instead try to point to other things.

Related to nearly every individual year beginning in 2008, I have denounced false prophets as well as those that speculated on each of those years as to the start of the Great Tribulation, as all who did so were much too close to that date/year for it to be possible.

Consider, for example, that although some claimed that the blood moons in 2014 and 2015 may have marked the beginning, I correctly denounced that years ago (Blood Moons, Eclipses, and Prophecy; a related YouTube video is also available: Blood Moons, Prophecy, 2014, and 2015) and was proven right. I also denounced the so-called Shemitah year and the claimed devastation that was supposed to hit the world economy, etc. in late 2015 (see also 6000 years up and Jesus to return in 2016? and September ‘convergence’: a harbinger of potential disaster?), and again was right. On January 1, 2017, I blasted the idea of the claimed “Jubilee of 2017” would mark the end (see Can the Great Tribulation Start in 2017? Furthermore, I blasted the idea that the solar eclipse of August 21, 2017 (see Solar Eclipse and the Apocalypse) or Planet Nibiru would begin the tribulation or destroy the Earth (see Doomsayers: Planet Nibiru to destroy Planet Earth in four weeks). I also denounced the view that because of the formation of the tiny nation of Israel in 1948, that the Great Tribulation needed to start 70 years later, like in 2018 (watch Can the Great Tribulation begin in 2018?). Some wrongly claimed that something from the “Sabbatical Code” as well as a shemita-decree calculation or a message from Fatima predicted 2019 (see False ‘Great Tribulation’ predictions/calculations for 2019). Some pointed to astronomy and even John 20:20 as proof for 2020 as the beginning, but this was denounced as well (watch Could the Great Tribulation Begin in 2020?). Certain ones who claimed to be COG pointed to 2020 and/or 2021 were wrong (see PCG claims Revelation 17:12 prophecy can happen this year! James Malm wrong about 2021) and some pointed to Israel’s 1948 formation and the US presidential election in 2020 as pointing to 2021 (watch also 2021: The Great Tribulation or the Great Reset?)–which I also denounced.

Why?

Because according to the Bible, other events needed to occur, that had not yet occurred.

We must base the timing of the Great Tribulation upon what the Bible teaches.

The reality is that there are sufficient clues in the Bible, and such as in the books of Daniel and Matthew, that make the prospective of the Great Tribulation happening in the next three years impossible.

Yet, we have seen events occur that are getting us closer.

For example, all the societal deterioration we have seen is consistent with the following being fulfilled:

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

With all this going on, could it still be possible that the Great Tribulation will begin in 2022?

Let’s look at the claims of some who have said it may be so.

Here is something from I Saw the Light Ministries trying to tie 2022 in with actual and non-actual Holy Days:

The dates of the holy day events could occur on the traditional Jewish dates, or perhaps on the correct dates. The Jews are usually off by around 2 days of each holy day.
-2. Thirty days later, on the 1st Day of Unleavened Bread, April 16, 2022 = Gog Magog War = Invasion of Israel by Syria, Russia, Iran and other nations. Beginning of 1260 days of the Great Tribulation. The 2 witnesses begin their prophetic ministry.

-4. Feast of Trumpets, Oct. 3, 2024 = Opening of the 7th Seal. 1st Trumpet blows.
-5. Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) Sept. 30 – Oct. 1, 2025 = Blowing of the 7th Trumpet of the 7th Seal.

None of that is possible and the Gog and Magog matters happen AFTER Jesus’ second coming, not before according to scriptures in Ezekiel 38 (see also Ezekiel 38: For Russia & Iran in Our Day?).

That is too early and not possible.

Here is another claim that is in conflict with the Bible:

The Great Tribulation and the End of the World in 2022 …

The Holy Bible is a coded book of prophecy written by inspired Jewish people that faithfully kept the Torah of Moses. There are many prophetic books within the Holy Bible that foretell the end of the world or the closing of the age of mankind. The book of Revelation written by John or Yochanan foretells the end of the world in the year 2022. While God’s people follow His commands, the Apostle John did not foretell the end of the world in 2022. The Holy Spirit of God does not lead to error (John 16:13), but the above is erroneous. I have encountered many false claims about the Holy Spirit revealing information from Protestants and others.

One Sunni Muslim source has predicted that Jesus may return in 2022:

Jesus Christ’s return (coming back) will most likely be in 2022 (End Times Research Center. www.EndTimes2013.com viewed 08/11/12)

Another Muslim source, pointing what he considers numerous proofs, has similarly asserted:

The Second Coming of Jesus and the Mahdi (AS) ………… is in the year–2023 A.D. (https://www.scribd.com/document/239739419/Imam-Mahdi-in-2023-AD accessed 06/28/21)

Again, that is not possible.

Let me add that I saw a chart put out by a group that split from the Philadelphia Church of God which calls itself Church of God Faithful (https://setapartbytruth.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/2022-26-timeline-possibilities.pdf viewed 12/08/21). That chart falsely declares:

days – end Sept. 12, 2026
(42 months Rev. 13:5-7)

That is too early and in error.

One Protestant pastor claimed that because there are 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet, 22 chapters in the Book of Revelation, and those 22 chapters supposedly correlate with the first 22 Psalms, this points to the Great Tribulation beginning in 2022. That is nonsensical, but has been promoted, with one reviewer claiming:

God’s Holy Spirit did NOT inspire such nonsense. Nor do I believe that the 22 chapters of Revelation correlate to the first 22 Psalms the way some seem to believe.

Now, a true prophet of God realizes that any who claim prior to 2025 are in error. There is NO possibility that the Great Tribulation will begin in 2022, 2023 or 2024 nor that Jesus will return before 2028.

Necessary events that Jesus and Daniel mentioned have not happened that will allow for that.

A 2016 book by Daniel Speck (who appears to be some type of Protestant) was titled “Tribulation 2023: A field guide to the Apocalypse”. He also wrote a book in 2014 titled, “2030 Second Coming: 2023 Tribulation, 2016 7 years of plenty” While Jesus could come in 2030, the actual Great Tribulation cannot begin in 2023.

But the Great Tribulation itself cannot begin before 2025.

The Shemitah of 2022 and the Super Shemitah

According to various ones, including the Messianic Jew Jonathan Cahn, a Shemitah year runs from sunset September 6, 2021 through sunset September 25, 2022. Which is the beginning of the Feast of Trumpets in 2021 and then ending with the next one in 2022.

A Jewish source, because of the claimed Shemitah, has been pointing to 2022 as a possible year for the Messiah to come (see https://www.israel365news.com/194383/israel-prepares-for-the-pre-messiah-sabbatical-year-nations-offer-to-provide-bounty/). But, while Jesus already came and will return, He will not return in 2022. That is too early.

The idea of disasters coming from/during a Shemitah year was popularized nearly a decade ago by Jonathan Cahn, who is perhaps best known for his book The Harbinger. I looked into this before and DO NOT BELIEVE THAT WE ARE IN THE SHEMITAH YEAR, thus believe any claims based upon that are irrelevant.  He was wrong about what would/might happen at the end of the last one (see September ‘convergence’: a harbinger of potential disaster?)

Jonathan Kahn wrote a book on the Shemitah, then when it was, in my view quite wrong, he updated it. The updated book is titled: The Mystery of the Shemitah Updated Edition: The 3,000-Year-Old Mystery That Holds the Secret of America’s Future, the World’s Future…and Your Future! The back cover of the book states:

WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT? … Understanding this seven-year pattern is essential for understanding the prophecy and the mysteries of the Bible that are still applicable today … the rise–and possibly the fall–of America can be linked to the year of the Shemitah.

If this was ESSENTIAL for Christians, then, in my view, Jesus would have so stated. Instead, Jesus pointed to various signs as well as to the Book of Daniel.

It is not just Jonathan Cahn who has pointed to the Shemitah year. Notice the following from State of the Nation:

No, while I expect violence and a certain amount of chaos the next 2-3 years in the USA will NOT “make First American Revolution look like a very tame Tea Party.”

What about the Super Shemitah? Well, if the above source was correct, then it would run from sunset September 25, 2022 or more properly sunset October 4, 2022 (the Day of Atonement) through sunset September 15th or 24th in 2023.

Which is exactly why the upcoming Super Shemitah will be the one to end all Shemitahs.  Which is also why The Powers That Be are surreptitiously and conspicuously setting up the GREAT RESET.

Paracelsus, in the Twenty Ninth figure of his prognostications, shows a lamb with a bishop’s mitre on its head feeding beneath a tree, and is accompanied by the following:

Thus shall it come to pass that each one will be led into its own pasture. For feeding in strange pasture causeth distress, contention, and misery in this world. …  not far from the year XX XX III. Paracelsus …

The fact that Paracelsus tells us this is a year is the clue to the correct interpretation of the figure. XX (20) XX (20) III (3) = 2023!  …

Construction begins on the abomination of desolation in 688 A.D.

On the death of Abu Bakr, Omar ibn al Khattab, advisor to Mohammed became the second caliph and ordered that a magnificent golden domed mosque, Islam’s third holiest shrine, be built… directly over “the most holy place” in Jerusalem.

The Mosque of Omar, The Dome of the Rock is the correct identification of the abomination of desolation.

Applying the date of 688 A.D. to Daniel

Biblical scholars acknowledge the words of Ezekiel who wrote 30 years before Daniel. “I have appointed thee each day for a year”. Using each day for a year,

688 AD + 1335 years = 2023

Having been given this final dating Daniel is then told, in the last verse of his book:

But go thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days. Dan 12, v13

The finality of this last verse is unequivocal and relates directly to the penultimate verse stating as it does that those who reach the 1335 days [years] are not only blessed but will have reach the “end of the days”.

The biblical reality is that necessary events that Jesus and Daniel mentioned have not happened that will allow for that.

For some scriptural proof, let’s look at the account in Matthew 24:

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. (Matthew 24:4-16)

There is no possibility that the Great Tribulation can happen in 2022 and those who rely on the Bible have realized this. It is only those who overlook scripture and rely on their own views and/or false traditions who make the mistake of thinking that the Great Tribulation can, or could, happen in 2022 or 2023.

Why do I state this?

Jesus pointed to Daniel.

Thus, one reason that the Great Tribulation will not begin yet is that one known as the final King of the North in Daniel 11 needs to rise up.

The Bible shows that the coming “King of the North” will make a deal of some sort with one called the King of the South just before the appointed time of the end:

27 Both these kings’ hearts shall be bent on evil, and they shall speak lies at the same table; but it shall not prosper, for the end will still be at the appointed time (Daniel 11:27).

Daniel chapter 11 tells much about the end times and it involves both a King of the South and a King of the North. And while there was a president of the South and a president of the North in the Union for the Mediterranean (see Deal Leading to Psalm 83?), these individuals have not held the type of power (nor prerogatives) of the prophesied King of the North and the King of the South. Nor will the current head of the post-Lisbon European Union, likely be the final King of the North as she does not seem to fit that description.

Since the Great Tribulation will not start before there is an actual King of the South and an actual final King of the North –it is not yet.

Now the Bible shows that a “prince” will apparently confirm a peace deal with Israel:

26 And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate (Daniel 9:26-27).

There are several reasons that this “prince” is referring to the leader of the developing European empire (see King of the North and Europa, the Beast, and the Book of Revelation). One is that it was the people of the Roman Empire of the 1st century that fulfilled the portion of Daniel 9:26 as they destroyed the city (Jerusalem) in 70 A.D. The European Union includes much of the land and peoples that were part of the ancient Roman Empire. And it is the “prince” coming from that people that verse 27 is referring to. Thus, this prophecy tells us that a lower level European leader will officially start to rise up about 3 1/2 years before the great tribulation (and yes, according to Jesus, some “tribulation” does happen prior to the start of the Great Tribulation). Another is the fact that the “beast of the sea” (Revelation 13:1) fits with the beasts from the “great sea” (Daniel 7:2)–and that is the Mediterranean Sea according to the Old Testament–hence this is an empire like the old Roman one (for more details, please see Europa, the Beast, and the Book of Revelation).

This portion of scripture in Daniel seems to be discussing some type of peace deal that the Europeans will either propose or at least one from Europe will endorse. Such a deal did not exist as of late 2020, or at least was not publicly confirmed by the “prince” by then. The deal will be broken 3 1/2 years later (Daniel 9:27; 11:31).

Therefore, even though the Great Tribulation is coming soon, it will not begin in 2022.

Christians, Philadelphian ones, are to understand Jesus said tribulation-related events tie in with Daniel. Yet, most who profess Christ do not fully get it. Anyway, after Daniel 11:31 and the fleeing (Matthew 24:15; Revelation 12:14-17), the Great Tribulation begins:

21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened. (Matthew 24:21-22)

This cannot possibly happen before 2025 and I currently doubt believe the Great Tribulation can start before 2026.

Can the Great Tribulation start in 2022 or 2023?

Much is happening around the world today. Is the Great Tribulation about to begin? Various ones have pointed to it starting in 2022 or 2023–and stated that they got 2022 from the Holy Spirit. What about centuries old predictions supposedly pointing to 2022 by Nostradamus and Paracelsus? Some Muslims have pointed to Jesus returning in 2022 or 2023. Is that possible? Should you rely on Jonathan Cahn’s views of the ‘Shemitah year’ to understand prophecy? What about the ‘Super Shemitah’ (also known as the Jubliee year)? Are there still signs that Jesus and Daniel pointed to that we need to see first? If so, what do they include? What is the earliest year that the Great Tribulation can begin according to scripture? But make no mistake about it–the end is coming and fairly soon–and probably, sometime in the next ten or so years. But the Great Tribulation will not start in 2022 nor 2023 (if there is a major war in the Middle East that is resolved by the Fall of 2022, then maybe 2026).

Anyway, if you are willing to believe the Bible, you can understand that the Great Tribulation cannot start in 2022 or 2023.
