When will the suffering really end?

Because of the two mass shootings in the U.S.A. last week (the first shooting being in “Happy Valley” at the Clackamas mall in Happy Valley, Oregon and the second at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut), U.S. President Barack Obama called for the end to these type of shootings:

Declaring that “these tragedies must end,” Obama said:

In the coming weeks, I’ll use whatever power this office holds to engage my fellow citizens, from law enforcement, to mental health professionals, to parents and educators, in an effort aimed at preventing more tragedies like this, because what choice do we have? We can’t accept events like this as routine. Are we really prepared to say that we’re powerless in the face of such carnage? That the politics are too hard? Are we prepared to say that such violence visited on our children year after year after year is somehow the price of our freedom?

The New York Times is calling his language “surprisingly assertive.” Not surprising: the White House is already sorta, kinda, maybe walking this thing back a little bit. “The president offered no specific proposals, and there were no urgent meetings at the White House over the weekend to draft legislation,” the Times reports. “Administration officials cautioned against expecting quick, dramatic action, especially given the end-of-the-year fiscal crisis consuming most of Mr. Obama’s time.” http://www.vanityfair.com/online/daily/2012/12/President-Obama-to-Newtown-the-Nation-We-Cant-Accept-Events-Like-This-as-Routine

WASHINGTON — Democrats say meaningful action in the wake of the school shootings in Connecticut must include a ban on military-style assault weapons and a look at how the nation deals with individuals suffering from serious mental illness…

“The facts are that every time guns have been allowed – conceal-carry (gun laws) have been allowed – the crime rate has gone down,” Gohmert said.

Gun-control advocates say that isn’t true. A study by the California-based Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence determined that 7 of the 10 states with the strongest gun laws – including Connecticut, Massachusetts and California – are also among the 10 states with the lowest gun death rates.

“If you look at the states with the strongest gun laws in the country, they have some of the lowest gun death rates, and some of the states with the weakest gun laws have some of the highest gun death rates,” said Brian Malte of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/17/gun-control-sandy-hook_n_2315304.html

National repentance is the only real hope to stop these types of shootings. As I wrote a few days ago, I do not wish to get into the debates about gun control. But I do believe that the shootings last week will result in additional regulations. Teaching people the right way of life and a call for real repentance is what really is needed. However, at this stage, it appears it will take the return of Jesus Christ for this to happen as this is not what national leaders of the Democratic or Republican parties are proposing national repentance.

But despite current human intentions, Jesus will return and His kingdom will be set up. It is when the Kingdom of God is fully established on this planet that there will be an end to this type of suffering, as well as all other types:

1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

6 And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:1-8)

Those who, in this age or the age to come, repent will make it. Those who will not, will not truly be able to be there.

The Bible seems to tie murders in with Satan, and hence likely have been have influenced by him or his demons:

44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. (John 8:44)

1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. (Ephesians 2:1-3)

For now, my prayers continue to go out for the victims of these Satanically-influenced tragedies. Ultimately, the Kingdom of God will be established and there will “be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain” (Revelation 21:4).
