Russian Leader Wants 2012 ‘End of the World’ Reporting Minimized

A Russian leader is considering introducing legislation intended to minimize coverage of 2012 doomsday reporting:

“Russian television channels have been filling their audiences with the idea that 2012 is the year of the apocalypse,” A Just Russia lawmaker Andrei Gorshechnikov wrote in a deputy’s inquiry to the city governor. “The reports usually cite the ancient Mayan calendar, which supposedly says the world will end this year.”…

He also said that the “hysteria” could see “naïve” and “trusting” people fall victim to fraudsters an suggested city governor Georgy Poltavchenko consider introducing legislation to “limit the promotion of the end of the world.”…

But Gorshechnikov stressed that he was not calling for a ban on media coverage of the topic.

People need to search the scriptures (cf. Acts 17:11), for if they do, they will realize that there is no possibility that the Great Tribulation can begin in 2012.

So, while it is true the the world will not end in 2012, this Russian proposal is dangerous for many reasons.

Starting with the original apostles, we in the Church of God have been preaching for a long time that the world as we know it will end. Since the Russians tend to support the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as many of its understandings of prophecy, the time may well come that Russia and/or others will limit the ability of the Philadelphia remnant of the Church of God to get its prophetic warnings out to the world as a witness, as Jesus commanded (cf. Matthew 24:14).

In addition to severe governmental restrictions and persecutions for trying to proclaim the truth during the time of the Great Tribulation, steps are likely to be taken prior to it to minimize the ability of the Philadelphia remnant of the Church of God to get its message out.

Notice also the following:

11 “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God,
“That I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine of bread,
Nor a thirst for water,
But of hearing the words of the Lord.
12 They shall wander from sea to sea,
And from north to east;
They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the Lord,
But shall not find it. (Amos 8:11-12)

The above, to me at least, suggests some type of internet censorship as people will not be able to find the truth. And people can find it all over the world now if they have internet available and a willingness to change and live by what the Bible teaches.

Thus, while the world cannot and will not end in 2012, even proposing such restrictions provide carnal support for the biblical view that other forms of censorship will be coming. And this is extremely likely to include censorship of at least part of the COG message by Western nations as well, including, probably for a time, the United States of America.

But despite government efforts to stop the message, it will get out and the end will come.
