(Armageddon: Will it come on Trump’s watch?)

Is 2019 going to be the year of the Armageddon? The answer is a definitive ‘No’. As 2018 ended, the potential for war was looming and Russian President Vladimir Putin even refused to rule out a nuclear war. But then, the statesmen grappling with international security also know that nukes are useless. They serve the purpose of deterrence but cannot be used as offensive weapons.

In fact, the nearest we came to a nuclear flashpoint was during last year over North Korea. But that point is well behind us. …

Defusing the crisis with North Korea stands out as President Trump’s most successful summit diplomacy so far.

Coming back to Russia’s tensions with the West, no one thinks of the likelihood of the tensions cascading to a doomsday, either. …

Candidate Trump’s campaign for a second term in the 2020 November presidential election will also prevent any sharp deterioration in the US-China relations through 2019. The two countries are almost certainly coming to an accommodation on the trade disputes and related issues. …

China is not in the least interested in a New Cold War with the US. 01/01/19 https://indianpunchline.com/world-is-safe-from-global-conflict-in-2019/

Is M. K. Bhadrakumar correct that the gathering in Armageddon will not happen in 2019 or even during US President Trump’s presidency?

Yes.

He has his logic, but let’s look at what the Bible says.

The gathering in Armageddon is only mentioned by name in the following part of the Book of Revelation:

1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.” (Revelation 16:1)

12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

15 “Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”

16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon. (Revelation 16:12-16)

Armageddon means “hill (or mountain) of Megiddo.” And notice that a gathering takes place.

Who is involved?

Notice another translation of Revelation 16:12:

And the sixth poured out his bowl upon the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way might be prepared of the kings of the rising of the sun. (Berean Literal Bible)

The ‘kings of the sunrise’ are involved here. That would have to include Asians from the perspective of Jerusalem/Israel.

Now notice the following which brings in the Euphrates:

13 Then the sixth angel sounded: And I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14 saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” 15 So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind. 16 Now the number of the army of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them. 17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision: those who sat on them had breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and brimstone. 18 By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed–by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone which came out of their mouths. (Revelation 9:13-18)

A massive army will gather in Megiddo–but when?

We need to consider various scriptures to determine the answer.

The timing of the sixth angel pouring out the bowl comes after the previous five bowls are poured out per Revelation 16:1-11. It also happens after the seventh seal is opened (Revelation 8:1-6) and year long Day of the Lord (Isaiah 34:8) begins.

And. of course, the seventh seal is opened after the sixth seal is opened (Revelation 6:12).

And the sixth seal is not opened until after the fifth seal is opened (Revelation 6:9)–and the Great Tribulation begins after the opening of fifth seal (see When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?).

The amount of time between the opening of the fifth seal and the pouring of the sixth bowl, which comes after the opening of the seventh seal, is a bit over three years.

How do can we know that?

The total amount of time for the Great Tribulation and Day of the Lord is 3 1/2 years–referred to as forty months in Revelation 11:2 and 13:5. This period is shown to be a time, times, and half a time in Daniel 7:25 and 12:7 and Revelation 12:14–which is also 3 1/2 years.

Now consider that the fifth seal is not open yet and the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21-22) has not started.

Furthermore, consider that the Great Tribulation cannot start until 3 1/2 years after the “peace deal” of Daniel 9:27  (see The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27) has been confirmed by a prince (Daniel 9:26).

26 And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate. (Daniel 9:26-27)

Notice that a “prince” confirms the above week-long deal. A prophetic week being considered seven years, long. And he breaks the deal in the middle of a week–which is 3 1/2 years.

The stopping of the sacrifices is also shown in Daniel 11:31:

31 And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation. (Daniel 11:31)

The “him” above is the same “prince,” but he is now called the King of the North (Daniel 11:40). He is also called the Beast in Revelation 13:1-10. His actions begin the Great Tribulation in Daniel 11:39, which also called the “time of Jacob’s trouble” in Jeremiah 30:7.

But events beginning in Daniel 11:31 do not begin until 3 1/2 years after he confirms the deal, which has not yet been made.

Therefore, this means that even if the deal of Daniel 9:27 was confirmed today (and it will not be) that the absolute earliest date for Armageddon would be in late 2025 (which I still think is too early–2026 looks to be the earliest possible date). As you would have to add 3 1/2 years to a bit over 3 years, nearly seven years.

Even if Donald Trump were re-elected in 2020 and fulfilled his second term, that would end in January of 2025.

Hence, it is not really feasible that the prophesied gathering of Armageddon can occur during his legally possible time as US President.

Of course, in theory, Donald Trump could lose the 2020 election and win in 2024 if he was still alive and ran again, but he would be 78 years old, so that seems unlikely.

The gathering of Armageddon will not happen within two consecutive Trump presidencies, even if he is re-elected.

That being said, US President Trump is apocalyptic.

He has literally done a lot to push the world towards the start of the Great Tribulation, and ultimately Armageddon.

Before he took office, I wrote and published the following (bolding added for this post):

Here are twenty specific reasons indicating some of how Donald Trump is “apocalyptic”:

  1. The timing of his rise in prominence. We are in the last days of God’s 6000/7000 year plan. A day to God is like 1000 years (2 Peter 3:8; Psalm 90:4), and since it is wise to know the days (Psalm 90:12), this is a reason that Donald Trump would be apocalyptic. We are getting close to the end of the time God gave humans to rule themselves. Thus, we are close to the start of the Great Tribulation (which will not happen in Donald Trump’s first presidential term) and the fulfillment of related prophecies in the Book of Revelation.
  2. Donald Trump supports the arming of various nations to defend themselves and not expect the USA to defend them. This suggests he would be supportive of the type of confederation that will lead to the formation of the final King of the South of biblical prophecy (Daniel 11:40-43).
  3. Donald Trump loves debt, which the Bible condemns as a curse (Deuteronomy 28:15,44). He has proposed infrastructure and other projects that are expected to increase the debt of the USA. Increasing national debt will lead to destruction at the appointed time of the end (Habakkuk 2:3–8). He will not be able to reverse enough of the debt to stop Habakkuk 2:3-8 from being fulfilled.
  4. Donald Trump has often encouraged increased military spending by the Europeans. And while American taxpayers may see this as a good thing, this increased spending will help lead to the rise of the prophesied King of the North, who is to be the final leader of the Beast of Revelation (Revelation 13:1-10). Unlike his predecessors, Donald Trump has threatened to not defend nations in Europe if they will not increase their military spending. This approach has greatly concerned various leaders in Europe. Donald Trump is helping enable the rise of the King of the North/Beast power who will be in league with the final Antichrist.
  5. Donald Trump’s rise has also spurred the Europeans to further unify among themselves, especially when combined with the Brexit vote that Donald Trump encouraged. While the Bible shows the Europeans will have difficulties being together (Daniel 2:41-43), it also shows that they will reorganize and unite (Revelation 17:12-13). Donald Trump has been pointed to by various European leaders as ‘proof’ that Europe needs more unification and distance from the USA.
  6. Donald Trump is greedy, prideful, and despite claiming to be a Christian, in 2015 he stated he never repented. The Bible teaches one needs to repent to be a Christian (Acts 2:38-39), “be sure your sin will find you out” (Numbers 32:23), and that “Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18). The God of the Bible expects leaders to encourage repentance and moral behaviors when they are subject to destructive punishment (cf. Jonah 3:6-9). Donald Trump, like many other U.S. politicians, does not seem to believe that the U.S.A. needs to repent for its sins against God. Yet, without national repentance (Ezekiel 18:30-32; Hosea 7:14-16; 11:3-7), the U.S.A. is doomed for destruction (Isaiah 30:12-13; Daniel 11:39).
  7. Donald Trump does not seem to realize the inherent danger for the USA to rely on Europe’s upcoming Galileo “GPS” for part of the U.S.A.’s military defense. This would appear to give the rising European power a unique offensive and defensive capability against the U.S.A. (cf. Daniel 11:39; Revelation 13:3-4). It is dangerous to have a potential enemy control portions of one’s military communications systems.
  8. Humans should eat what is good (cf. Isaiah 55:2). Donald Trump, like others before him, has made statements supporting the use of genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) to be consumed as foods. Increased reliance on GMOs by the United States puts the nation at major risk for nearly complete crop failures. The Bible warns that famines (Matthew 24:7) and food shortages (Revelation 6:5-6) are coming and Donald Trump may further help set the stage for this.
  9. Donald Trump has been a polarizing figure and has offended many including minorities and Muslims. Expect civil unrest and rioting. The Bible prophesies “There shall be terror within” (Deuteronomy 32:25). The Bible also specifically warns of problems from Arabic peoples in the end times (Psalm 83:3-8). Some Syrians, including some already in the USA, may take terroristic actions as that too is consistent with biblical prophecy (cf. Isaiah 9:8-9, 11-12).
  10. Donald Trump supports various aspects of the LGBTQ agenda. The God of the Bible expects leaders to encourage repentance and moral behaviors when they are subject to destructive punishment (cf. Jonah 3:6-9). Donald Trump, like many other U.S. politicians, does not seem to believe that the U.S.A. needs to repent for its sins against God. Yet, without national repentance, the U.S.A. is doomed for destruction (Isaiah 30:12-13; Daniel 11:39). Of course, people are supposed to pray for political leaders (1 Timothy 2:1-3), and that should be done irrespective if one agrees with the leader. Sometimes, leaders and/or their policies change.
  11. By focusing too much on threats from China and almost always considering the Europeans as some type of allies, a Donald Trump Administration is currently not expected to reverse the Asian ‘pivot’ strategy. Unless he changes that, this pivot will help result in destruction of the USA.
  12. Donald Trump has made some statements suggesting he is not fully in agreement with the right of free speech. A “famine” of the word is prophesied (Amos 8:11) and it is possible that he could authorize steps that could lead to that.
  13. Donald Trump is an admitted adulterer, strip club and casino owner, and married a woman who was professionally engaged in pornography. By encouraging and not discouraging aspects of biblical immorality, Donald Trump is setting the U.S.A. up for punishment (Isaiah 30:12-13; Romans 1:18-32) that has and will include troubles, violence, weather problems, earthquakes, food shortages, and pestilences (Mark 13:7-8; Luke 21:10-11). The time will come when, these problems will further worsen.
  14. Donald Trump believes HE can make the United States great again. Biblically, this is not the case, though he could help in several areas. Morally, economically, and militarily, the USA has been in decline (though the military decline is still more relative to the climb of others). We will one day hear proclamations of false peace and safety and Bible warns repeatedly end time destruction will follow those declarations (1 Thessalonians 5:3; Jeremiah 6:14-15).
  15. Donald Trump’s history of corporate bankruptcies demonstrate that he is willing to not pay his debts.  The Bible teaches, “The wicked borrows and does not repay” (Psalms 37:21). That is not good. Donald Trump has also hinted about defaulting or renegotiating the debt—if he does that, this will not set well with foreign creditors
  16. Jesus warned about a coming time of pestilences as part of the beginning of sorrows (Matthew 24:4-8).  Actions and/or inactions by Donald Trump will likely put the USA at increased risk of problems from pestilences.
  17. His misstatements, name calling, exaggerations, and negotiating strategies show that he is not always honest. This is not good (Proverbs 29:2; Psalm 15:1-4). His bragging statements, etc. are consistent with those warned about for the last days in 2 Timothy 3:1-6.
  18. His religious views hint that he is somewhat ‘ecumenical.’ An ecumenical power is warned about in the Bible and is expected to rise up in the end times (Zechariah 2:6-8; Revelation 17; 18). I expect him to make inter-faith/ecumenical supporting statements.
  19. He has made statements suggesting a of loss of privacy and favoring unlimited government control. This type of thing will be exploited by 666 of Revelation 13:16-18.
  20. Donald Trump seems to be the type of person who would support the ‘peace deal’ of Daniel 9:27, which precedes the start of the Great Tribulation by a few years.

Since he took office, many steps that he and others have taken are pushing the world closer to the time of the Great Tribulation.

European and world reaction to various of his statements and policies, combined with increasing of USA debt and other matters, are aligning with properly understood biblical prophecies.

So, while Armageddon will not happen until after the 2024 election, Donald Trump has been taking steps that are apocalyptic and the end will come.
