Brexit, though barely mentioned in the USA media, remains in the news:

A FORMER Brexit Party MEP has warned Michel Barnier that Boris Johnson will not give away the UK’s waters during Brexit trade talks with the European Union.

June Mummery told Express.co.uk that Boris Johnson will not give away our fishing waters in a warning to Michel Barnier. Ms Mummery added that Mr Johnson is a “different animal” to former Prime Minister Theresa May in Brexit negotiations.

Ms Mummaery said: “My message to Mr Barnier is you are not dealing with Theresa May.

“You are now dealing with Boris Johnson, you have got a different animal.

“He will not give away our waters, he has told us that.

“He got many votes from many people who voted for him because they trusted him to take back full control of our waters.

“So, I don’t think he is going to shoot himself in the foot.

“People who don’t live remotely near the coast can see the many reasons why we need to rebuild our coastal communities.

Theresa May was the previous UK Prime Minister. She opposed the Brexit (BRitish EXIT from the European Union). The UK Parliament could never get itself to accept the terms of deal she negotiated with the EU for future relations.

Technically, the UK is out of the EU, but for almost all practical purposes it does not free itself of EU rules, etc. until the end of this year.

The UK stopped being a member of the European Union (EU) at 23:00 GMT on 31 January 2020. …

While the UK has agreed the terms of its EU departure, both sides still need to decide what their future relationship will look like.

This will need to be worked out during the transition period (which some prefer to call the implementation period), which began immediately after Brexit day and is due to end on 31 December 2020.

The Convergence of Brexit and Covid-19

Little has been made of Brexit since the UK ceremoniously left the EU on January 31st and entered into a transition period. Amidst the coronavirus outbreak, multiple rounds of negotiations on the future trading relationship have taken place, with round three having culminated earlier this month.

Rounds one and two yielded no tangible progress. The third instalment was a similar story.

Britain’s chief negotiator, David Frost, confirmed as much after talks concluded:

The major obstacle is the EU’s insistence on including a set of novel and unbalanced proposals on the so-called “level playing field” which would bind this country to EU law or standards, or determine our domestic legal regimes, in a way that is unprecedented in Free Trade Agreements and not envisaged in the Political Declaration. As soon as the EU recognises that we will not conclude an agreement on that basis, we will be able to make progress.

Frost labelled the EU’s position as an ‘ideological approach‘, one that must change by the time the fourth round of talks begin on June 1st.

The EU’s lead negotiator, Michel Barnier, countered Frost’s perspective by declaring that ‘without a level playing field there will be no economic and trade partnership agreement.’ …

Here is where Brexit and Covid-19 begin to converge. Last week it was announced that government borrowing for the month of April, all in response to the Coronavirus, came to £62.1 billion. By comparison, borrowing in April 2019 amounted to £10 billion. The untold pressure on public finances has reinforced the government’s position of not seeking any extension to the transition period. The prevailing narrative now is that the country can no longer continue paying into the EU budget at a time when all economic resources need to be concentrated into responding to Covid-19.

Leaving the EU with no new trading agreement has been made more likely because of the financial fallout of the pandemic. …

Contrary to what some may believe, coronavirus has not made Brexit immaterial. Taken together, Covid-19 and a WTO Brexit are a harbinger for a significant spike in inflation over the coming years. COVID-19 most certainly has not made Brexit immaterial.

And yes, both will have economic ramifications for the UK.

Furthermore, the European Union could face major deterioration of its economic conditions because of fall out from Brexit, the new coronavirus, and other factors like Donald Trump’s trade agenda.

Losing the UK hurts it in several ways, but on the other hand has somewhat unified the divided nations in Europe, while COVID-19 has tended to cause individual nations to look out for themselves and not the EU in general.

The European Union has many problems with unity as well as other issues. That was predicted in the Bible thousands of years ago:

So, despite unity issues, the European confederation will be around for a time, eventually be destroyed by God, and that is a certain prophecy.

But, does that mean that the ‘European Union’ will survive as it is until God destroys it?

No.

The New Testament shows that Europe will reorganize (see also Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?), rise up, and ultimately be destroyed itself:

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. 14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.” (Revelation 17:12-14)

This reorganization will change Europe!

The EU will NOT function as it has.

It will no longer have the pretense of a democracy but will become a fierce dictatorship (cf. Deuteronomy 28:49-50; Revelation 13; Daniel 7:25).

Germany will essentially lead it (cf. Isaiah 10:5-12; see also Germany in Biblical and Catholic Prophecy).

Will financial matters be a factor in getting Europe to reorganize and establish the Beast dictator?

Yes.

But let it be added that “signs and lying wonders,” civil unrest, and religion will all play a role.

In 1965, the late Pastor General of the then Radio Church of God, Herbert W. Armstrong wrote:

…European countries urgently want political union, the very UNITED STATES OF EUROPE I have been assuring PLAIN TRUTH readers for 31 years is definitely coming. It will unite them into a giant third World Power…

There is a definite German “Kultur! There is a French culture that is in many respects quite different. Then there is a still different Italian culture, a Spanish culture, a Scandinavian culture, a Swiss culture–and all are different! European nations speak different languages, have different aspirations, different customs, different traditions. Europe is often called a “crazy-quilt” of nations.

HOW, THEN, CAN THEY AGREE TOGETHER AND UNITE? For years The PLAIN TRUTH has said these nations are going to have to realize their inability to unite themselves politically-to choose a common political-military Leader that all can trust. They are going to finally face the fact they must look to a Supreme Authority they can all trust! That Supreme Authority cannot be a politician, or a general (De Gaulle is both). The only possible answer is a Religious Leader! (Armstrong HW. Personal. Plain Truth, November 1965, pp.1-2)

So, he felt that while they needed a political-military leader, some type of religious leader was needed to unify Europeans.

But there was more. In a sermon on July 7, 1984, he added:

And I can see now, the event that is going to trigger the formation of the reunification in Europe; the resurrection of the medieval Holy Roman Empire that we’ve been looking forward to that is prophesied to come…

But I believe that some event is going to happen suddenly just like out a blue sky that is going to shock the whole world and is going to cause the nations in Europe to realize they must unite! … Well now I think I can see what may be the very event that is going to trigger…that is the economic situation in the world…

The whole banking structure in the United States is a network all jointed together. But not only that, one nation has to deal with other nations and imports and exports. And so they have to have a means of transforming money from one nation to another. And so the banking structure is international and interwoven…

Now when the financial structure breaks down, all civilization is going to break down…

Even things like the economic impact of COVID-19 and Brexit are impacting Europe.

What does all this mean?

It means that despite the current fragility within Europe, the final European power will be the endtime “daughter of Babylon” (Jeremiah 50:42).

It means that the current EU will be reorganized (Revelation 17:12-13; see also Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?) and it will transformed into a major military power (Revelation 13:4)–despite the fact that it does not think it so (Isaiah 10:7), it is not well united (Daniel 2:41-42), and people do not think that it will emerge that way (Habakkuk 1:5-11).

When will it happen?

Actually, after another pandemic (watch : Fourth Horseman, COVID, and the Rise of the Beast of Revelation).

COVID-19 is only a foretaste of what is coming as those who truly believe the Bible realize.

And Europe will change. What is going to happen will hurt the EU and the UK (cf. Daniel 11:39-45).
