As if the single market and the single currency weren’t enough, the European Union is about to get a single ID system.

Under proposals agreed member states and the European Parliament this week, every EU citizen will be entitled to a European Digital Identity (eID) which will operate through the eID “wallet”.

An electronic wallet, kept on a computer or mobile phone, stores, displays and verifies important documents in digital form. These tend to have specialised uses, like making financial transactions. The new EU system, however, is intended to be comprehensive. According to the European Commission’s own website, potential uses include storing ID cards, birth certificates and medical information. It can also be used to open a bank account, apply for a loan or show proof of age. …

The Commission says that it is “available to any EU citizen, resident or business in the EU who wants to use it” (my italics), but how long will it be before individuals and organisations have to use it?

So far, opposition appears to be limited to Europe’s Right-wing populists. And no wonder, because to those who fear the imposition of a transnational surveillance state, the eID system looks like their nightmares come true. EU Pushes CBDC-Linked ‘Digital Identity’ for All Citizens

The European Union (EU) is advancing plans to introduce a new “Digital Identity” that will be directly linked to a central bank digital currency (CBDC), a top Euro official has revealed.

The plan was exposed Wednesday on social media by Dutch Member of the European Parliament Rob Roos. …

As far as financial controls, we know that they are coming to Europe. The Apostle John was told by Jesus to write the following:

15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:15-18)

The above prophecy suggests that there will be enforcers of the mark of the beast as well as for the control of buying and selling. That technology did not exist when John penned this, but is here now. Plus, we are seeing steps being taken to set the stage for this.

On November 8, 2023, the United Nations, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and partners of the Rockefeller Foundation launched the “50-in-5” agenda.

This campaign will accelerate digital ID, digital payments, and data-sharing in 50 countries over the next five years under the umbrella of digital public infrastructure.

The UN plans to roll out digital IDs worldwide by 2030, making them mandatory for participation in society.

The 50-in-5 Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) campaign launches to accelerate digital ID, digital payments systems, and data sharing among 50 countries within the next five years.

In partnership with the United Nations, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Co-Develop, and others, the 50-in-5 campaign brings together both developed and developing nations to collaborate and share knowledge on best practices for Digital Public Infrastructure rollouts.

DPI consists of three main components:

• Digital ID
• Digital payments systems
• Data exchanges between public and private entities …
  

Togo’s Minister of Digital Economy and Transformation Cina Lawson told a 50-in-5 panel that the Togolese government began its DPI journey with the arrival of COVID-19.

First, the government set up a digital payments system within 10 days.

“We deployed it, and we were able to pay out 25 percent of all Togolese adults, and we distributed $34 million that the most vulnerable Togolese received directly through their mobile phones,” said Lawson.

Then, came vaccine passports.

Vaccine passports, by their very nature, serve as a form of digital identity, according to the WEF.

The WEF envisions digital identity being linked to everything from financial services and healthcare records to travel, mobility, and digital governance — all of which are components of DPI.

A WEF report on “Reimagining Digital ID” published in June 2023, says:

• “Digital ID may weaken democracy and civil society.”

The WEF is right that we will see exclusion, marginalization, and oppression because of this. Yet, the WEF is also promoting this. The fact that it has raised some objections does not change its globalist plans, which the UN and EU are working to implement.
