Today is Canada Day.
Despite dealings with the Trump Administration, Canada has usually had positive relations with the United States.
But at least partially because of Donald Trump, Canada has taken steps to get closer to Europe. And the Europeans have taken steps to be closer to Canada. Notice the following which looks to be another step that way:

Canada is entering the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest.
The announcement was made by CBC/Radio-Canada and the European Broadcasting Union less than a week after confirming CBC had become a full member of the EBU.
“On this Canada Day, as we celebrate with Canadians across the country and around the world the richness and diversity of Canadian culture, we’re so excited to confirm that we’re bringing the world’s largest live music event to Canadians,” said Marie-Philippe Bouchard, president and CEO of CBC/Radio-Canada, in a news release. …

Of course, Canada is not part of Europe.
Yet a couple of week’s ago, its Prime Minister pointed to Europe to lead the ‘new world order’ (see G7 called ‘An awkward family gathering’ & Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney says ‘new world order will be built starting with Europe’–and the Anthropic matter is not easily forgotten).

As they celebrate their national day, Canadians feel a renewed sense of national pride — a reversal of a stubborn trend that dates back at least 40 years.
All it took was an unpredictable and aggressive next-door neighbor whose sovereignty threats and trade war left a lasting mark.
A new POLITICO Poll of six countries reveals in Canada a country rethinking its place on the global stage, reconsidering its relationship with Americans and bucking global patriotism trends. …
Jean Chrétien, an outspoken former prime minister, has repeatedly joked about nominating Donald Trump for the Order of Canada for uniting so many people north of the border. …
There’s no mistaking the new trend.
“For progressive leaders around the world, Canada may show that there is a way to capture a message of national pride that does not alienate key voters,” said Seb Wride, principal at Public First, which conducted the survey. “But it also shows the challenge in doing so, if what it takes is a geographical neighbor dramatically turning up the temperature as much as Canadians feel Trump has.” …
Forty-three percent say the president’s commentary has brought provinces closer together. There is evidence of that: premiers have axed more interprovincial trade barriers than anybody can remember in a bid to fortify themselves against Trump’s tariffs.
But 36 percent see Trump as driving a wedge between provinces, and there’s evidence there, too: squabbles over resource development, spats over remaining trade barriers that protect regional industries and disagreements about how to counter Trump.

Canada at Eurovision: the political context
Plans for Canadian involvement in Eurovision date back to 2022 when the EBU announced plans for a “Eurovision Canada” spin-off event which was ultimately scrapped.
But Prime Minister Mark Carney, who has been keen to deepen political and economic ties with Europe since taking office last year, resurrected the idea of Canada joining the song contest in his November 2025 budget.
The Canadian finance minister, François-Philippe Champagne, said at the time that Eurovision would be “a platform for Canada to shine” at a time of heightened diplomatic tensions with the United States.
“It’s also about protecting our identity,” he told broadcaster Global News. “Yes, we want to protect our sovereignty but we also want to help people in the arts sector. We have a lot to offer as Canadians.” https://www.dw.com/en/canada-eurovision-2027-debut-confirmed/a-77787878
Canada is reaching out more to Europe, though it still has major trade ties with the USA.
That said, historically, some believe that the War of 1812 was really related to the USA wanting to acquire Canada.
On July 1, 1867, Canada became a self-governing dominion of Great Britain and a federation of four provinces: Nova Scotia; New Brunswick; Ontario; and Quebec.
Some believe that this happened because after the US Civil War, some believed that the USA was looking to take Canada from the UK.
Anyway, the anniversary of July 1, 1867 was called Dominion Day in Canada until 1982.
Since 1983, July 1 has been officially known as Canada Day. My wife and I have been to Canada several times since we got married as well as other times before we knew each other.
Canada itself has grown:

Now here were are, 151 years later and you’ve grown into a country of 10 provinces and three territories and a population of 35,151,728. On a global scale, you rank 38th in total population while having the second-largest landmass. …
Canada Day carries many different meanings for people, with celebrations and protests as diverse as the country itself.

Here is some insight from Time as to why Canada became self-governing and some other details related to it:
After the Northern U.S. states won the American Civil War, there was a big concern in British North America and London that “the victorious Americans up North would take Canada, and much of the motivation [for uniting the provinces] was to have a stronger line of defense against the U.S.,” says Peter H. Russell, a political scientist who specializes in Canadian history. “The other thing was, the constitution-makers — we call them ‘Fathers of Confederation’ — were convinced that what led to the Civil War was a weak federation, so they tried to create a much stronger federal government than America has.” …
The name Canada wasn’t established in 1867, however; it’s derived from the Huron-Iroquois word “kanata,” meaning “village” or “settlement” and had been in use since the 16th century, when locals pointed French explorer Jacques Cartier in the direction of the “village” now known as Québec City. That Canada became a “Dominion” is also a uniquely American story, Russell argues. The Confederation was originally to be named a “kingdom” of Canada until “the British foreign office said, ‘The Americans won’t like a kingdom on their border, call it something else, or we’re going to have bad relations with the Americans.'”
Leonard Tilley, one of the Fathers of Confederation, was inspired to suggest the word ‘dominion’ by Psalm 72:8, which states that Jesus Christ “shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.” (The Latin version, “A Mari Usque Ad Mare,” became the country’s national motto.) Basically, Canada was granted a self-governing status as the British were concerned that the USA might take it over. And it chose the term “dominion” based on the Bible.
But many in the government of Canada do not accept the Bible at this time. Since a court decision in 2002, Canada has restricted freedom to quote and cite the Bible (watch Canadian censoring of the Bible). It also passed a motion limiting giving one’s view of Islam (http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-03-24/canada-passes-blasphemy-bill-silence-critics-islam).
Local Canadian officials have prohibited a Protestant school from being able to teach certain scriptures from the Bible. Here is an account of this from Canada:
Our Constitution has religion hard-wired into it — the word Catholic is in our Constitution four times, specifically to protect religious education. That’s part of the grand bargain of Canada, uniting French Canada and English Canada.
It’s shocking, but it’s not surprising. Christianity has been driven out of the public square everywhere in Canada. But surely this is a new low — Christianity is actually being banned in a Christian school.
Government bureaucrats would never dream of telling Muslim schools they couldn’t teach passages from the Koran — even ones that call for the murder of infidels and apostates. But banning the Bible is now official school board policy.
And, not surprisingly, the media and the political class are silent. Even supposedly Christian or conservative politicians are keeping their heads down — they don’t want to be attacked by the leftist mob at the CBC.
The school board is digging in. They’re closing ranks around Laurie Skori the chair. They’re bullying the school. David Eggen, the NDP education minister, he hates Christian schools, wants to shut them down, has taken steps to shut others down. Alberta’s NDP government has made the next move against religious schools in the province—and this time, they’ve dropped any pretence that their ongoing attacks on religious schools are anything short of crass bigotry. At the end of August, Education Minister David Eggen announced that funding would be pulled from Christian schools that refused to accept Gay-Straight Alliance Clubs. …
The NDP attacks on schools began as a radical progressive government forcing LGBT ideology into communities that did not want it, and have now metastasized into a blunt declaration by the government that schools cannot govern themselves according to their Christian beliefs. “Diversity” must be respected, by which the NDP means that a diverse array of religious schools must accept progressive ideology and accede to their demands or face further attacks from the government. This is no longer simply about Gay Straight Alliance clubs—the NDP is telling Christian schools that they cannot teach Christian doctrine, cannot state their belief that the Bible is God’s Word, cannot respect the primary role of parents in the education process, and cannot state that the biblical worldview is true.
And, most tellingly, the NDP had a problem with one school noting that God’s authority superseded man’s authority—because they do not believe that to be true. So, some Canadian officials are often not acting in a manner consistent with what Canada was supposed to stand for.
Some of its top leaders have also pushed abortion and horrible agendas, like euthanasia.

The time will come when the most faithful Christians will realize they must flee Canada, the United States, and most other lands on the earth (cf. Revelation 12:14-16; see also There is a Place of Safety for the Philadelphians. Why it May Be Near Petra).
More and more, in Canada as well as other lands, are seeing governments taking steps to remove/control content on the internet.
This was partially because the prophet Amos was inspired to record the following:
11 “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God,
“That I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine of bread,
Nor a thirst for water,
But of hearing the words of the Lord.
12 They shall wander from sea to sea,
And from north to east;
They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the Lord,
But shall not find it. (Amos 8:11-12)
Notice that the Bible tells of a time that will come when the word of God will not be found. I do not believe that this means that there will be no more Bibles–but that those wanting to better understand it will have trouble finding explanations.
Amos is referring to something as dramatic as truth being scarce. In the 21st century that logically would point to it being taken off the internet. In the 21st century, the internet is accessed by people in every country, and thus some type of internet restriction/suspension/site removal is coming–more than what we have seen thus far.
We are getting closer to this time. More and more are starting to see that there are plans to censor speech from the internet.
That is part of why we in the Continuing Church of God are preparing for the ‘short work’ (Romans 9:28) and the coming ‘famine of the word.’
Jesus warned:
12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. (Matthew 24:12-13)
Officials in the Canadian and other governments around the world do not respect the laws of the Bible and push their own morality–which is often biblically immoral.

Can one of the nicest places in the world – Canada – survive what’s to come?

Sadly, this has affected many–though the faithful who endure will be saved and people can still repent.
The Continuing Church of God has members spread across Canada.
We have people there who have seen the right way. We continue to try to reach more there.

Canadian censoring of the Bible In 2017, Lauri Skori of the Battle River School board told a religious school in Alberta, Canada that it could not teach/read certain portions of the Bible. In 2002, a court in Canada ruled against one who referred to certain scriptures that some homosexuals objected to. In 2017, there was “An Act to Amend the Canadian Human Rights Act and Criminal Code” related to those who wish to be considered transgendered. Government officials in Canada and elsewhere have been ruling against the Bible. Is any of this prophesied? Will this get worse? What was the prophet Amos inspired to write? This is a video.

6. The Philadelphia Church Era and Remnant Though the era was predominant circa 1933 A.D. to 1986 A.D., but some few faithful are still in it as a remnant has continued. The old Radio Church of God and old Worldwide Church of God were part of the era, and now the remnant of that era is basically the most faithful in the Church of God, like who hold to the beliefs and practices of the Continuing Church of God. 7. The Laodicean Church Era has been predominant circa 1986 A.D. to present.–and most end time Christians are part of it. The Laodiceans are non-Philadelphians who mainly descended from the old WCG or its offshoots.
