Canada’s Prime Minister has a debt-increasing proposal he expects to release with hopes that it will help transform Canada’s economy:

Carney’s Budget Promises Big Investments, Tough Cuts in Canada

Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney will unleash a major fiscal stimulus in his budget proposal on Tuesday as he aims to unlock billions of dollars in investment and transform the Canadian economy to rely less on the United States, its top trading partner.

Carney has promised “generational investments” in his government’s maiden budget to pay for defense and housing and to grow an ailing economy battered by President Donald Trump’s tariffs and trade uncertainty. However, he has also warned of tough times ahead.

“To be clear, we won’t transform our economy easily or in a few months — it will take some sacrifices and some time,” Carney said last month during a speech to university students.

Economists expect Canada’s highest deficit outside the COVID-19 pandemic, and they want the government to have a clear path to reduce it in coming years.

Pedro Antunes, chief economist of Conference Board of Canada, worries increased deficits mean higher interest payments or public debt charges that could be unsustainable for Canada. …

Canada is in a precarious position these days and Donald Trump seems willing to try to cause Canada a lot of economic pain to get it to accede to his demands. Last week, Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem admitted the Canada’s economy is deteriorating and warned citizens to prepare for a “lower standard of living” (see Timm Macklem says Canadians should prepare to lower their standard of living).

The new budget proposal looks to be intended to change that, but debt is not the real way to resolve Canada’s economic problems.

The Bible clearly warns that an indebted people will be destroyed by people whose language that they do not understand, and that the destruction will be fairly total:

43 The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower. 44 He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. 45 Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed…47 “Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything, 48 therefore you shall serve your enemies, whom the LORD will send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in need of everything; and He will put a yoke of iron on your neck until He has destroyed you. 49 The LORD will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you will not understand, 50 a nation of fierce countenance, which does not respect the elderly nor show favor to the young. 51 And they shall eat the increase of your livestock and the produce of your land, until you are destroyed; they shall not leave you grain or new wine or oil, or the increase of your cattle or the offspring of your flocks, until they have destroyed you. 52 They shall besiege you at all your gates until your high and fortified walls, in which you trust, come down throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you at all your gates throughout all your land which the LORD your God has given you (Deuteronomy 28:43-45,47-52).

7 The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower is servant to the lender. (Proverbs 22:7)

13 And the Lord said, “Because they have forsaken My law which I set before them, and have not obeyed My voice, nor walked according to it, 14 but they have walked according to the dictates of their own hearts…16 I will scatter them also among the Gentiles, whom neither they nor their fathers have known. And I will send a sword after them until I have consumed them.” (Jeremiah 9:13,14a,16)

12 One-third of you shall die of the pestilence, and be consumed with famine in your midst; and one-third shall fall by the sword all around you; and I will scatter another third to all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them. (Ezekiel 5:12)

Most will not believe that will really happen, but that disbelief was expected:

6 “Don’t say such things,” the people respond. “Don’t prophesy like that. Such disasters will never come our way!” (Micah 2:6, New Living Translation)

16 … You say, ‘Do not prophesy against Israel, And do not spout against the house of Isaac.’ (Amos 7:16)

Repentance, and not increased debt, is what Canada needs.

Notice that lack of repentance is listed as a reason that the King of Assyria (the final King of the North) will become Ephraim’s king:

 3 I taught Ephraim to walk … 4 I drew them with gentle cords, With bands of love, And I was to them as those who take the yoke from their neck. I stooped and fed them … 5…But the Assyrian shall be his king, Because they refused to repent. 6 And the sword shall slash in his cities, Devour his districts, And consume them, Because of their own counsels. 7 My people are bent on backsliding from Me. Though they call to the Most High, None at all exalt Him. (Hosea 11:1a, 3a, 4b, 5b-7)

The prophesied shame is starting to come upon the Anglo-American powers. The Assyrian king is also prophesied to eliminate the end time descendants of Ephraim–and that includes the Canadians (see also Lost Tribes and Prophecies: What will happen to Australia, the British Isles, Canada, Europe, New Zealand and the United States of America).

While the descendants of Ephraim (including Canada) will be conquered because there will be a lack of national repentance, personal repentance is still an option–whether you live in Canada or anywhere else.
