Los Angeles is experiencing its second day of significant riots, with the National Guard being called in on Saturday night, local time.
Here’s a quick guide to what is going on:
What sparked the unrest?
Everything began on Friday when Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers executed search warrants at multiple locations, including outside a clothing warehouse in the city’s fashion district.
A judge had found probable cause that the employer was using fictitious documents for some of its workers, according to representatives for Homeland Security Investigations and the US Attorney’s Office. …
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said the ICE operations in Los Angeles resulted in the arrest of 118 immigrants, including five people linked to criminal organisations and people with prior criminal histories.
The president of Service Employees International Union California, David Huerta, was arrested and charged with impeding a federal agent while protesting, the US Attorney’s office said. …
Officers wearing helmets and holding batons forced the protesters away from the building by forming a line and walking slowly down the street.
Protests continued on Saturday.
Border Patrol personnel in riot gear and gas masks stood guard outside an industrial park in the city of Paramount, deploying tear gas as bystanders and protesters gathered on medians and across the street. …
Why was the National Guard called? …
US President Donald Trump said he would send 2,000 California National Guard troops to the protests.
The National Guard is a state-based military force that is part of the military reserves.
Typically, they are deployed on state-based missions during natural disasters.
California Governor Gavin Newsom called the decision “purposefully inflammatory.”
Mr Trump wrote on Truth Social: “If Governor Gavin Newscum, of California, and Mayor Karen Bass, of Los Angeles, can’t do their jobs, which everyone knows they can’t, then the Federal Government will step in and solve the problem, RIOTS & LOOTERS, the way it should be solved!!!”

Protests sparked by Friday and Saturday’s ICE raids continue to erupt across Los Angeles areas, some scenes turning violent and destructive, leading President Trump to deploy thousands of National Guard troops to the region and the U.S. Defense Secretary threatening to mobilize active duty Marines.
On Saturday, protests had already begun across L.A. when ICE conducted a raid in Paramount. “Great job by the National Guard in Los Angeles after two days of violence, clashes, and unrest,” Trump wrote early Sunday morning on Truth Social. “We have an incompetent Governor (Newscum) and Mayor (Bass) who were, as usual (just look at how they handled the fires, and now their very slow permitting disaster. Federal permitting is complete!), unable to handle the task.
“These Radical Left protests, by instigators and often paid troublemakers, will not be tolerated.
“Also, from now on, masks will not be allowed to be worn at protests. What do these people have to hide, and why???

I smell CIA/deep state all over this. Sanctuary cities like LA strategically encouraged erratic and violent migrants to seek refuge and now are using them to violently attack federal law enforcement officers.
They have no respect for our laws, they use our entitlements, and they destroy our cities. This will be the fate of all sanctuary cities if we let this madness continue.

As the 47th President, Donald Trump plans to deport all those not legally in the USA, though many do not think he can actually succeed in that (Rahman K. Donald Trump’s Deportation Plan Faces Rebellion from Democratic Governors. Newsweek, November 7, 2024). Trying that is expected to cause civil unrest and probably riots. (p. 20)
There are issues with what Donald Trump says when he speaks. I expect protests. (p. 44)
Donald Trump has been a polarizing figure and has offended many including minorities, migrants, and Muslims. Expect civil unrest and rioting. (p. 89)
Donald Trump is setting the USA up for punishment (Isaiah 30:12-13; Romans 1:18-32) that has and will include troubles, violence, (pp. 89-90)
Consider also the following that is certainly applicable to parts of many cities in the world (including the USA):
23 ‘Make a chain,
For the land is filled with crimes of blood,
And the city is full of violence. (Ezekiel 7:23)28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality…30…violent, proud, boasters,…31…unmerciful; (Romans 1:28-31)

We are seeing more divide in the USA and parts of it certainly appear to be intentional. Much of it is ideological. The USA is becoming less and less united and more polarized.
Deporting people may cause unrest in the USA. …

Jesus warned:
24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. (Mark 3:24-25)

The increased divide in the USA is not good.
National repentance is what the USA needs.
But since that is not likely, it will fall.
The USA does not need protests or troops in the street. The USA needs the return of Jesus and the Kingdom of God.
