Rockets were reportedly fired from Gaza and Israel responded:

For Lebanese, recovery too heavy to bear a month after blast

September 6, 2020

Lebanese families are still struggling with rebuilding in the wake of the massive explosion centered at Beirut’s port. Many, already unable to make ends meet because of the country’s economic meltdown, now can’t bear costs of making homes livable. Frustration is high, with the state almost nowhere to be seen and promised international help slow in coming.

With winter and the rainy season only weeks away, aid groups are concerned they may not have time or resources for the mammoth job of repairing and rebuilding.

Around 200,000 housing units, approximately 40,000 buildings, were damaged in the blast, 3,000 of them so severely they are currently uninhabitable, according to U.N. estimates.

The loss of homes is just one of the indignities from the explosion, the result of nearly 3,000 tons of improperly stored and rotting ammonium nitrates igniting at the port. The blast, one of the strongest non-nuclear explosions ever recorded, killed more than 190 and injured thousands.

A month later, Beirut is still a wounded, grieving city struggling with the calamity that abruptly altered so many lives. Tall buildings still face the port with blown-up facades. Hundreds-year old stone buildings have gaping holes and missing balconies. Features of small streets parallel to the port have been totally erased. Residents walk around with patched up eyes, bandaged arms or on crutches. https://apnews.com/e25232ef1d496f0234ba489eb17114aa

In an interview with ZENIT’s Senior Vatican Correspondent and with another vaticanista of Italian news agency ANSA, Cardinal Pietro Parolin has shared with ZENIT moving episodes from his trip to Lebanon. …

Cardinal Parolin:  As for the visit, it was really very, very emotional. It really moved me. There are two aspects that I would like to emphasize. The first thing is destruction! Someone has defined the destruction as apocalyptic. I think the adjective suits the situation very well. There was a bomb, a bomb I don’t know if [it were] atomic or not, whose strength, they tell me, was even muffled by the presence of the sea; the explosion was somewhat muffled by the sea, but where it arrived, it caused a lot of destruction.

And then I would like to underline the sense of pain, the sense of suffering that I saw in my encounters with the families of the victims. https://zenit.org/2020/09/05/interview-cardinal-parolin-on-lebanon-vocations-potential-papal-travel/

Those impacted are in my prayers.

That explosion was reported about here last month (see ‘Powerful Explosion Rocks Beirut, …’).

Here is a little more about it:

One month ago, today, 2750 tons of ammonium nitrate exploded in the port of Beirut, killing more than 200 people, wounding 5000 others, and leaving 300,000 residents temporarily homeless. The explosion, which left Lebanon’s main port and surrounding homes and businesses in ruins, has exacerbated the COVID-19 pandemic in a country that’s also grappling with inept leadership, a worsening economic crisis, and a 55% poverty rate. 09/04/20 https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/09/absolutely-horrendous-scientists-discuss-beirut-s-blast-and-how-they-are-coping-its

The 2750 tons of ammonium nitrate had been stored at the port for years. Various ones warned of the dangers.

But because of governmental issues, factions, and indifference, the problem was not properly dealt with. Essentially it was ignored until the explosion.

While it was not the ‘Apocalypse,’ parts certainly looked like some of the devastation that the Bible says will happen.

Furthermore, do not think economic or military problems will not ‘explode’ in places like the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

For example, US debt continues to increase. Some have been warning about this for years (I have for well over a decade).

Although most ignore it, the Bible says such debt will be a factor in the sudden rising up of creditors (Habakkuk 2:6-8).

If the Apocalypse can be defined as the start of the Great Tribulation, then a problem–in the USA’s case its debt–that has been long ignored. will be a factor in triggering the real Apocalypse.

But, in the USA, do not expect government leaders to take the proper steps to stop it.

Both major political parties in the USA have supported the debt increases, and even if some progress to slow it down is made, do not expect this to be resolved.

Lebanon, the USA, and the rest of the world needs the return of Jesus Christ and the establishment of the Kingdom of God. Pray for that Kingdom to come (Matthew 6:10).
